You want to live a life on fire and on mission.
You want to be filled with such conviction and drive that you stop caring about what ANYone thinks.
You want to face each day alive, authentic, and fully present in every moment: with your wife, kids, on the street, at the gym, at work.
You want to bring yourSELF to the table, and to stop bringing the watered-down, nice, what everyone wants version of you.
You want that self to be a man who is burning in passion for Jesus, unafraid to bring his kingdom to anyone in your path, no matter the cost.
You want to love the one in front of you without fear, without needing love back, and without reserve.
You want to experience God for real, to not just believe, but to KNOW that he’s got you and that he’ll show up on your behalf. That he’ll show up THROUGH you.
You want to get to the end of your race and say, “Yep…I gave it everything. Jesus, you know I’m all in.”
...And you want to know just how to get there.
Welcome to Man Warrior King. Congratulations. You are among the violent taking the kingdom by force. You are among the chosen, answering the call to rise above your self. You are in the forge being stripped down and strengthened—and you WILL rise stronger, solid, unshakeable.
You are a man. You are a warrior. You are a king.
Christopher Miser (00:00)
you
Matt Hallock (00:04)
Welcome to another episode of the Man Warrior King podcast. I am back with our guest, Chris Miser today. And yeah, it's pretty embarrassing. He is wearing the same thing that he was wearing last time. Just kidding. Every day. I am too, though, so I've no one to talk on this.
Christopher Miser (00:18)
I wear the same thing every day,
Matt Hallock (00:28)
If you have not yet had a chance to read the DNA of a man, I encourage you to go pick it up. Order it from Amazon. You can order it from my website as well. I encourage you also to just keep in touch with what we've got going on here at Man Warrior King. We've got a lot of new things developing, some new programs, courses, webinars that we're doing with my wife as well. So make sure that you stay in the know with that. Get on the email list so you can be a part of
these really cool things going on. For this episode, Chris and I are gonna be talking about the concept of do not go gentle. And this is something I'm really excited to talk about. Chris, welcome back to the show. And also tell us about this do not go gentle idea.
Christopher Miser (01:27)
Well, it just kind of builds on what we were talking about in the previous episode, Matt, and that is what we fight and what we're fighting against when we're fighting against, we're fighting against death and evil. we cannot go gentle into that. I just think of it, because I think of that Dylan Thomas poem, which I love. I'll read three lines, just do not go gentle into that good night. Old age should burn and rage at close of day.
Matt Hallock (01:49)
Yeah.
Christopher Miser (01:57)
Rage, rage against the dying of the light. And it's a cool poem. There's more to it. But we must not be OK with the dying of the light. As you know, I have a podcast, Heat and Light, which I focus a lot on us being a reflection of God's light, of being a reflection of God.
Matt Hallock (02:13)
Hmm.
Yeah.
Christopher Miser (02:27)
And as Christians and so we we must fight against darkness we that's what we've been called to do and we do that by walking with god and being obedient to god and Leading the way that god wants us to lead if you brought up dna of a man, which yes every man should read that book because it is God built things into our he built into our dna
Matt Hallock (02:33)
Hmm.
Hmm.
Christopher Miser (02:57)
The ability to fight back against that darkness And in hit DNA is so cool I and I know you and I have talked a lot about it, but like it is a written language And so before there was even Language that are that we acknowledge before that God wrote that and God even says before I formed you I knew you
Matt Hallock (03:11)
Yeah.
Christopher Miser (03:26)
And that's because he wrote us. He literally wrote us. There's a code that makes us unique. And it's crazy. I was reading about DNA, Matt, just a couple of days ago. And so one. OK, there's 40. I'm kind of bigger these days, so I think I have 40 trillion cells. Depends on how big you are. Some people have 20 trillion, some people have 100 trillion. I probably have around 40 trillion.
Matt Hallock (03:26)
Yeah.
Okay.
Okay.
Thank you.
Christopher Miser (03:55)
cells in my body and each cell in my body contains six picograms of DNA and a picogram of DNA one picogram is like a trillionth of a gram Okay, so if you were to take The six picograms from every one of your cells and you were to somehow be able to extract that it would fill a teaspoon
Matt Hallock (04:04)
Okay.
gosh. Jeez.
Christopher Miser (04:23)
So if you take that teaspoon though, here's where it gets crazy. If you take the DNA that's in that teaspoon, which is the picograms, the six picograms from every one of your cells, okay, and you were to type out the code, that code would go to the moon and back 100,000 times. It would fill the Grand Canyon 40 times. And that's the code that God wrote. He wrote that.
Matt Hallock (04:34)
Yeah.
Christopher Miser (04:49)
which is unfathomable, like that's so much code, right? But that's who you are.
Matt Hallock (04:53)
And
in just that little thing, that's that's nuts.
Christopher Miser (04:57)
Yeah, in a teaspoon, which is insane.
So when we again, we keep separating God from everything we kept. We were like, well, we we talked about in the last episode at school. We deal with science at church. We deal with faith. But God, God created all that like the science he created it, and we can't why can't we talk about that? He created that. That's not.
Matt Hallock (05:12)
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Christopher Miser (05:26)
That's not chance. In fact, it's one of the things that evolution cannot describe or cannot explain. They cannot explain DNA. So evolutionists cannot explain how that has changed or where that came from. DNA came from God. It's very clear. And they would say, it can change. Yeah, it can change. But we're talking about environmental changes. It's not changing.
Matt Hallock (05:34)
Yeah.
Christopher Miser (05:55)
to another type of being. That's not what's happening. So DNA does change. wrote down, it changes through diet, lifestyle. It can change from exposure to toxins. But overall, DNA is extremely stable. But anyways, it is just amazing how we have been created. And God created us with
Matt Hallock (05:59)
Mm-hmm. Yeah.
Christopher Miser (06:25)
genes that especially in men that to be leaders, to be warriors, to fight. is and a lot of men, my son is one who feels called to defend his country, which is why he's in the Navy, because he feels called to do that. I felt the same thing. And I went into the Air Force because of that, because I felt like we got to fight back on this evil. Terrorism is evil.
Matt Hallock (06:32)
Hmm.
No.
Yeah.
Christopher Miser (06:54)
We got to fight
Matt Hallock (06:54)
Yeah.
Christopher Miser (06:55)
back. And so that's a that's in your genes. That's in your DNA to have that to have that passion and that drive. And so we got it. We got to have that for God fighting back against darkness. And that that's why we're not going gentle.
Matt Hallock (07:10)
Wow.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That's fascinating. So what, one of the things that stands out to my mind about the, all that DNA, like the facts is that's a really huge Testament to, to your individual value that God wrote that in order for you to be you,
Christopher Miser (07:35)
Mm, yes.
Matt Hallock (07:39)
It takes a hundred thousand trips to the moon and back of writing out all that code. Like you're in this, this should be eye opening as to how incredible each one of us is. We're not just back to the evolutionary thing. We're not just an accident. We're not just like an afterthought.
but you're incredibly valuable. It took that much for you to come into existence. so here's, okay, so the not going gentle or wired to fight, we are called to fight, but so many Christian guys end up
not. They end up they end up kind of being passive. Would you agree? And why do you think that is if you do agree?
Christopher Miser (08:47)
well, I, yes, I do. I do agree with what you're saying, man, on that. So. one of the things that we think. So when we say fight, first of all, that doesn't mean that we fight. Our spouse, in fact, you love your spouse and you're supposed to be gentle with your spouse. So when we say do not go gentle, we're talking about not going gentle against sin and evil and darkness.
Matt Hallock (09:14)
Yeah.
Yeah.
Christopher Miser (09:17)
And
one of the things is when you are gentle with your wife or you love your wife or you do things for her, all those things, that's not being that that that's good, gentle. And when you do that, you're fighting back evil. You're not you're not going gentle on the things. So when you're passive about like like maybe you're meek about showing love to your wife or you're meek about just about or you don't stand up for certain things or I don't.
Matt Hallock (09:27)
Yeah. Yeah.
Christopher Miser (09:46)
I mean, I don't have a great example right now, but you can break out of that and stand up firm for things that are right and true, and then stand up and be bold to show your wife that you love her. Okay. And then also in the same way, she can see that you're boldly fighting back on the things that are getting in the way of your relationship or getting in the way of your relationship with God, both of you.
Matt Hallock (09:46)
Yeah.
Hmm.
Yeah.
Christopher Miser (10:14)
Fight back on that stuff. Tell it to get out. There is nothing, why can we not rebuke those things? We can. Get rid of them. Those spirits that are holding you down, just like Brandon Lake says, I rebuke them. Get rid of them. Send them out of your household. Literally tell them, you do not have a place here. That evil does not have a place here.
Matt Hallock (10:16)
Yeah.
Yep.
Hmm.
Yeah.
Christopher Miser (10:42)
and it's okay for your family to see that you've gotten rid of that, and then you're gonna show love and care and respect. And so, yeah.
Being, when I say do not go gentle, I'm not talking about how you treat your wife, for example. I'm talking about how you treat sin and evil. I, you know, this is not like, I'm not great at it. I've allowed evil to come into the home, to come in between my wife and I. So.
Matt Hallock (11:07)
Yeah
sure.
Christopher Miser (11:24)
It's not something I'm perfect at, that's for sure.
Matt Hallock (11:25)
Yeah.
Well, gosh, as you're talking, I can think of times when Corey would tell me, Matt, like, sometimes it feels like you're more harsh with me than you are with everything else out there. And I want that to flip. I want you to be like harsh and, you know, edgy with everything else out in the world. But, but.
not with me. And I mean, cause so I haven't done it perfectly either. And I'm, you know, leading other men into this too. And I don't make any pretension of being perfect at these things, but we're moving in this direction, you know, together. I'm, committed to, to keep growing more and more in that. but it's a really good point. Like very often when a man is passive,
outward. It tends to go hand in hand with some dysfunction inward into the marriage, into the home. And I think a lot of it is because you're just not in your right masculine energy when you're passive towards evil and sin in the world. And when you're not, it ends up
moving your wife to step into some masculine energy, which creates another level of dysfunction. And now you're feeling, you're feeling kind of ashamed because you're not more of a man or whatever. And so the anger and the resentment can start to build up and boil and come out at your wife. So it's definitely, it's definitely like a very common dynamic where
Christopher Miser (13:15)
Mm.
Matt Hallock (13:24)
men get that thing flipped, passive outward, more abrasive, irritable, angry inward, instead of vice versa. And I love what you're saying about the spirits, right? Like kicking out demons, rebuking the spirits. When we're talking about not going gently, of course we can...
We can talk about societal level. can talk about the culture war between good and evil, which deserves to be talked about. But a lot of times for guys to even get there, they've got to start to win the war that's against their own life. So.
What do you, what, and maybe, I don't know, I don't know how many thoughts you have on this, but a question that comes to mind, we can talk about it, and I could talk about it too.
If somebody is not used to dealing with demons, they might be like, what do I, I don't, I don't have like furniture moving across my room, you know, without this on its own. I don't, I don't have like weird, supernatural encounters. Like, what does that even, what does that even look like? And is it important for me?
Christopher Miser (14:49)
Mm-hmm.
Matt Hallock (14:51)
What do you- do you have any thoughts on that?
Christopher Miser (14:53)
Yeah. Well, one is I don't really have, you know, I don't have a whole lot of experience with demons. And like you said, I have not seen things moving around. So that's good. I'm happy about that. I don't want any books flying off the shelves. OK, so if you're if you're watching this and you see a book move behind me, please let me know because because that's not OK. And I want that. I don't want that to continue. So.
Matt Hallock (15:00)
Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
Hahaha.
Yeah.
Yeah
Christopher Miser (15:20)
I don't have experience with that. But, you know, in the garden, right, when Jesus was...
Matt Hallock (15:23)
Yeah.
Christopher Miser (15:32)
It was Peter that sliced off the ear, right? Okay, and what did Jesus say to him? said, he said, get behind me Satan, right? So he rebuked, he said, stop. Okay, then he healed the ear, okay? All right, so the bottom line is,
Matt Hallock (15:36)
Yeah, yeah.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah. Yeah.
Christopher Miser (15:59)
My thought to that, why I'm talking about that is that...
Well, now my mind went blank. What did you ask, man?
Matt Hallock (16:14)
I was asking about if a guy's like, cause you had talked about getting demons out of your home, right? Getting them out of your marriage, your life. Like, and a guy's like, well, I don't really know what that, where to begin with that, what that involves. I just asked him what the thoughts you had about.
Christopher Miser (16:22)
Yes.
Yes, sorry, that's why I was telling that. So why I was saying that is because there was a plan and Jesus understood what he had to do. He had to be crucified on the cross for our sins because there was no other way. And so anything that got in the way of that, he was saying, get behind me, Satan. Anything that was going to derail that because
Because Satan wants to derail that. He does not want Jesus to go to the cross. Ultimately, don't think Satan wanted him to go to the cross, even though it would seem like he would. But no, he doesn't want him to die for us because now we're saved through him, right? That's not so. Satan didn't want that to happen. So it's the same thing in our lives when we say, hey, get out, when we tell it's not.
There might not be books flying off of shelves, but if we are not following God in our marriages and in our lives and with our kids and in our house, then we got to get rid of that stuff. Or when it comes in and it starts trying to attack our children, when evil is trying to attack or when some sin is trying to attack your spouse, for example, get rid of it. Tell it it has no place there.
Matt Hallock (17:57)
Yeah.
Christopher Miser (17:59)
because
Matt Hallock (17:59)
Yeah.
Christopher Miser (18:00)
it's derailing what you are supposed to do in obedience. So you're getting rid of that because it's derailing you. And that's what Jesus Christ was saying. Hey, stop. You're trying to get in the way of obedience, of what is right. You're trying to get in the way of truth. so, and he didn't understand that. He's trying to defend, he's trying to defend Jesus.
Matt Hallock (18:06)
Mm-hmm.
you
Christopher Miser (18:29)
and say, hey, you can't do this. He didn't do anything wrong. So he lashes out with the sword, but.
Matt Hallock (18:36)
Right, right. Yeah. In my experience, I've dealt with demons from time to time. We've seen some different manifestations of demons. Nothing that would make for an exciting Hollywood movie, but still manifestations nonetheless.
But I've seen more often dealing with demons where there is no manifestation. And there. So talking about like this being a warrior, being hardwired into our DNA, we do need to understand that every, every day we are.
Christopher Miser (19:14)
Hmm.
Matt Hallock (19:32)
we are likely going to face resistance from the kingdom of hell. And, that may be demonic and it's probably always demonic. It's just going to look different. And so I am of the opinion that demons are more often working against us than maybe we realize. Like Cory and I,
man, we we've had plenty of times where our girls having bad dreams or whatever, and, we've never dismissed them as, it's just a dream. You know, go back to sleep. You're fine. Or if they're afraid of something in the dark, we've never dismissed it like, there's nothing there. More often we'll be like, yeah, you know, there's probably is something over there that you're seeing and your spirit's telling you about it. But I'll tell you what, you're stronger.
So here's what we're going to do. We're going to actually, and I'm not going to do this. You're going to do it. I'm going to show you how you're going to pray against that thing over there in the corner. You're going to pray against the things that are talking to you in your dreams. And we're even going get some oil and we're going to anoint your bed with oil and bless it in the name of Jesus. And you're going to overcome these guys. And it's taught our girls so much. Recently, Rebecca,
Christopher Miser (20:36)
then.
Matt Hallock (20:57)
told a demon to leave Darcy alone in the middle of the night while Corey and I were sleeping because Darcy was having a nosebleed and her nosebleed stopped in them in immediately as Rebecca did that. So it's pretty like those are some some more, you know, kind of fun ways of dealing with demons. But even like you said, sin, I would say things like anger, fear, worry, unforgiveness, bitterness.
jealousy. When we bring those things into our home by engaging in that kind of a, of an attitude or a way of thinking, they're not just feelings. We are agreeing with spirits of the same name. And so when you're talking about kicking things out that are trying to come at, especially my wife, that's usually like saying, well, Lord,
I repent of agreeing with this anger and I do not agree with it anymore. And also the demon that's involved in this whole thing. You got to leave. That's probably the more pertinent to our discussion here is that type of demonic work. And very often those don't really manifest in the particularly, know, flam flashy flamboyant way.
But nonetheless, it's very real and very powerful to understand that I'm in a war, not just like, I'm just a screwed up angry guy. No, you're you're being led into that by spirits that are trying to keep drawing you down their path more and more. are my thoughts on that. But but yeah, it's important that we go that that we that we always are going that we were waking up every day.
Christopher Miser (22:45)
Hmm.
Matt Hallock (22:53)
as a warrior, knowing I'm going to fight today. And it's not like a matter of if I encounter a demon, no, I will be vigilant to keep my border secure around my family, around my home, whatever it is.
Christopher Miser (23:10)
Well, when God,
or at the beginning of Job, know, God calls, it says, and God basically, he has a meeting with the son, with sons of God, and they come and Satan joins the group. And God is like, hey, where have you been? And Satan's like, you know, just been roaming around the earth.
Matt Hallock (23:29)
Yeah.
Christopher Miser (23:38)
It's a wild verse and he's just out. He's just out. then and then God says, well, have you considered my servant, Joe? Right. And then it leads to to that entire story. But. He's out. I mean, mean, there or at least his minions, they are in the earth and they are looking for those who they can destroy. OK, so.
Matt Hallock (23:46)
Yeah.
Sure. Yep.
Absolutely.
Christopher Miser (24:05)
I do not claim to be smart enough to know whether Satan is currently chained up or not, and that's a whole other discussion on the timing of that. But we at least know that whether it's him or whether it's his minions, they are out to destroy. So they are looking for that family that they can destroy. They are looking for that marriage that can be destroyed. And if we are
Matt Hallock (24:30)
Yeah.
Christopher Miser (24:35)
vulnerable, they're moving in. So they're looking for those opportunities. And if we're not walking with God and we don't have the shield up and our sword ready,
Matt Hallock (24:38)
Mm-hmm.
Christopher Miser (24:52)
We're vulnerable. So we cannot go gentle.
Matt Hallock (24:54)
Yeah.
Right, right. We've got to be vigilant. We've got to be honestly, in my opinion, anger is a is a is an asset in that sense. I don't I don't want to put out that kind of anger, you know.
Christopher Miser (25:11)
Yeah, no,
you're right. It is okay to be angry with sin, to be angry at that. That is okay.
Matt Hallock (25:19)
Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
Christopher Miser (25:26)
Jesus was angry when he flipped those tables. He said, this is not okay. This is not okay. And how often are we doing that? All over the place, we see that same kind of thing. We see people trying as hard as they can to make money.
Matt Hallock (25:29)
yeah.
Yeah.
Christopher Miser (25:44)
in the church building, making as much money as they can for themselves. And so that is not okay.
Matt Hallock (25:46)
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah. And absolutely. And angry at, if you look over your life and you can see, man, there's been a lot of things that have come against us, a lot of attack on us in this way or that way. For me, the obvious one is disease. I loathe disease. I hate it with a passion and I'm not sorry about it. I get so angry at it.
Christopher Miser (25:57)
and it's okay to be angry with it.
Right, yes.
Matt Hallock (26:23)
whether it's in me or somebody else, I get so angry. And, I think that's a lot of the reason why I see as many people get healed as I do because of that anger that I have against it. So it can really be a benefit. when it's, when it's directed at the right thing, you know, or if it's in someone's personal life, you're angry at what Satan has tried to bring against you to stop you absolutely get pissed off.
Christopher Miser (26:48)
Yes, because it wouldn't have even happened. We
should be angry about the fact that Satan deceived us all. That's why we have diseases, because Satan deceived us. We're in a fallen world. Because he lied to us, we accepted it, we propagated the lie, we continue to tell the lie. We continue to live in the sin. And it's angry, for sure. And one of you, you brought up passive, know, passive Christianity or being passive.
Matt Hallock (26:53)
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
Christopher Miser (27:17)
And, you know, how often do you hear people, specifically Christians, they say, come quickly, Lord. Now, I wanted, is this an okay time to talk about Desmond?
Matt Hallock (27:29)
Yeah, yeah, I was gonna I was gonna get us there. Yeah.
Christopher Miser (27:33)
Because we say when things get tough or when we start to feel little anger or when we get really frustrated or there's disease and sin and all these things and all the adversity that we experience here in this fallen world, when it happens, much of the time you'll hear, come quickly, Lord, or our hope is in heaven. Our hope is not in this world. Our hope is in heaven.
Matt Hallock (27:54)
Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm.
Christopher Miser (28:00)
Yes, and that is that is true. Our hope is in what's next. But I wanted to read real quick. First Peter three and four. So did I? my goodness. I left first Peter. I was looking at something else. OK, first, Peter three and four. Here it is. Blessed be the God and father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who, according to his great mercy, has caused us to be born again to a living hope.
through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you. And a lot of the time, I think we read that and the general takeaway from many Christians is that this verse is saying our hope is exclusively in heaven and not on earth. And if you read that again, I think there is hope in heaven. Don't get me wrong.
Matt Hallock (28:40)
Hmm.
Yeah.
Christopher Miser (28:59)
but it is not correct to say that our only hope is in heaven because there should be hope. We have a definite responsibility right now in the face of all of this to hope for what is now, to have hope that my family trusts in Jesus. Hope that like we have hope in that as when we walk with God and we are following his guidance and his rules and we are obedient to him and we're leading properly.
Matt Hallock (29:02)
Mm-hmm.
Christopher Miser (29:27)
that we have hope for right now, that we're not leaving our society behind, we're not leaving our culture behind. We're getting involved in that. We're getting involved in the school. We're sharing truth because we have hope now. Let's get our culture back on track. It's not just hope in the future. It's not just, it's now. And we're building heaven. This is heaven on earth right now. So when I said Desmond, it reminds me of Desmond Das, which,
Matt Hallock (29:29)
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yes.
Christopher Miser (29:56)
was the, was the medic that saved all those people in the battle of Okinawa, all the soldiers. So Desmond Doss, World War II medic, and he was the one who was lowering, people down, soldiers down from, the cliff. think it was 400 feet down. And if you've, if you've seen the movie Hacksaw Ridge, but Desmond Doss did not say his prayer was not
Matt Hallock (30:04)
Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
Christopher Miser (30:25)
Lord, take me away from this. Or, oh, my hope is later, Lord, just take me away. Just come quickly. Just come quickly, please. No, his prayer was just one more. So he would lower someone down to the ground. They were saved. And then he would go back and he would pray the whole time, Lord, just give me one more. Just help me save one more. And then he would lower him down, which results in 75 people saved.
Matt Hallock (30:27)
Yeah.
Yeah.
Hmm.
Yeah.
Christopher Miser (30:54)
And he was a recipient of the Medal of Honor. And what if we as Christians, what if the church right now had that attitude at all times? Just one more, just one more, just one more. No, like it is OK. Lord, please, just give me a little bit more time. Just give me more time to save this person. Like instead of the selfish response of just please take me out of here. This place sucks.
Matt Hallock (30:54)
Man.
Absolutely.
Yeah. Yeah.
Totally.
Christopher Miser (31:25)
And it's like, well, I don't want it to suck right now. In fact, there's things I really, really love. I do not want to leave this world. I'm going backpacking soon and I am so excited because I get to go backpacking in God's creation. I'm excited about every single day I get to do that. I don't want this to end. I want it to get better.
Matt Hallock (31:44)
Yeah. Mm hmm. Mm hmm.
Mm hmm. Man, I agree so stinking much so much and I always felt when I was younger like like a little bit like of the black sheep because every other people in church and stuff like, man, it's going to be so great when Jesus comes back. And I do understand it will be and I Lord, please don't be offended, but I don't.
I don't want it to happen soon because I and I always
Christopher Miser (32:13)
I know, yeah. I
I love all the stuff that we get to do as a family. I love our ski trips and I love our like it. Life should be awesome now, especially. And it can be super awesome walking with God. Like, he's not saying it's not going to be awesome. He's not saying like he just said, hey, the world is he did say the world's going hate you.
Matt Hallock (32:23)
Yeah.
Yes.
Yes, absolutely.
Yeah.
Christopher Miser (32:40)
And there are gonna be people in this world that hate you for following Jesus. But you could follow Jesus and just absolutely have a blast in God's creation and with God's people too. And that's something that God has been teaching me because as you know, I I was very frustrated with church and I pulled out big time and God said, you are wrong. You are wrong. And he told me to go back and that's when,
Matt Hallock (32:44)
Yeah. Yeah.
Christopher Miser (33:09)
That's when we talked about that. That's when I was arguing and it was just a stupid argument every single time. And God made it clear that, okay, you're not listening and I don't have a choice. So he's saying, is, church is my heaven. This is heaven on earth, is the church. And you're not in it. So get back in it, start and get back to encouraging other believers and walk with them together in my truth. And that's, I think that's super powerful what God has.
Matt Hallock (33:13)
Yeah, yeah. Right.
Yeah.
Mm.
Christopher Miser (33:39)
shown me and it's changing things big time for me and I'm not in a hurry to leave.
Matt Hallock (33:43)
Absolutely.
Right, right.
Yeah, I think you're, like I was thinking as you were talking about Desmond Doss, like we need to, and you said this too, but like, instead of saying come quickly, Lord Jesus, we should be saying, well, not yet, Jesus, there's still more I've gotta do.
Christopher Miser (34:05)
There's more
people we can save because it's on his timing. It's his timing. mean, really, what we say is, Lord, it's your timing, whatever it is, that is your will and your timing. But if it's if it's OK, give me more time because I want to reach this person and then go reach them. But the Lord will decide. God will decide what the time the right time is. That's not for us. But but making the most out of every single moment.
Matt Hallock (34:09)
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
Right, right.
Christopher Miser (34:35)
that is given us is what he's called us to do. That's God's will is that we're praising him and obeying him in the face of all that. And hoping for a better future, not just later for, you I'm one of the special people, so it'll be great when I get to first class, it's gonna be great. No, the whole plane is first class, let's all go.
Matt Hallock (34:36)
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah, absolutely.
Mm-mm.
Yeah,
right.
Christopher Miser (35:04)
And let's fill every seat and and that should be that's our attitude
Matt Hallock (35:08)
Yeah. And I think,
I think we can, we can also have it about like, Lord, I like, like what you're doing right now, Lord, I'd love some more time to build this business, this podcast that I'm doing. the, the reaching more people is always, is always a part of it, but it's okay to also be like, I want to, I want some more time to get my marriage to where I know it can be. I want some more time to experience the joy of that.
in this life right now. I want some more time to, who knows what else build this ministry or that thing, or like, want, I don't know. I want some more time for, for, to be able to parent my kids all the way through adulthood, whatever it is. Like, yeah, yeah.
Christopher Miser (35:51)
Yeah. Or your grandkids. I want to spend time with, I
want to lead my grandkids and show them what God, what God says, you know? Yeah.
Matt Hallock (35:58)
Yeah.
Right. And I
want them to experience an epic adventure of this life. I want them to be able to, to have to experience that in its fullness and not have that cut short before, you know, heaven gets here. And I think all of, all of that is good. And I think it actually like, I think God likes that attitude because this is where he's put us. And so for always just kind of like, I don't like it here.
Christopher Miser (36:08)
Yes.
Well, he didn't just put us here. He gave us dominion over it. He said, said, you're in charge. You manage, you manage it. Now we're, I mean, we suck. We are terrible at managing this, but that's what he told us to do. And so, so here he tells us, you know what, man, that's a great point, Matt, what you're bringing up because what if, what if someone said, cause I think of the air force again, I'm thinking of some of those guys. What if someone says, Hey, you're in charge of this squadron.
Matt Hallock (36:31)
Why'd you put me here? Exactly. He said this belongs to you. Yeah.
Yeah, he did.
Christopher Miser (36:59)
And now I'm in charge of this squadron. And then I say, Hey, as soon as you can get me out of this squadron, I know you put me in this squadron. You made me, you put me in charge of it, but man, this place is terrible. If you can get me out of here as fast as possible, your boss is going to fire you because that is not the response. What your boss wants you to say is this squadron is not in good shape and I'm fixing it. I'm going to fix it. And I'm, and, and, and God is saying, Hey, walk with me.
Matt Hallock (37:11)
Yeah.
Yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Christopher Miser (37:29)
obey me and fix it.
Matt Hallock (37:32)
Yeah, yep.
Christopher Miser (37:33)
because that's the responsibility he gave us, was to fix it. Let's go.
Matt Hallock (37:37)
Yep. Yep. Absolutely. Absolutely. It was totally our responsibility and, and beli- contrary to a good deal of Christian belief, this world doesn't belong to Satan. He got it from Adam, but Jesus got it back. He stole it. Yeah. He deceived his way into stealing it. But, and so we have a lot of people like, well, you know, he's the God of this world. He's the Prince of the power of the air.
Christopher Miser (37:53)
Yep, he stole it
Matt Hallock (38:05)
That does not mean the world belongs to him. It means the world system worships him, but it belongs to us. will, I will stand on that for as long as I have here. It belongs to us. And if we, if we just started believing that I think we could start doing a better job and we might see some things shift. man, I feel like we do have to, we do have to wrap it up here. I feel like we could.
I could go on this topic for a while because this gets me fired up. It really does. But for now, Chris, what do you want to tell people who are listening about what you're doing and how they can get in touch with you, how they can find you?
Christopher Miser (38:57)
Well, they can find, can, please find me on Spotify and Apple, the podcast Heat and Light. And you're welcome to please listen to it. Hopefully, hopefully you get something from it. mean, and hopefully it's encouraging. I'm working on some episodes right now. Here's what I, I'm in, I'm, I am not, it's not good, Matt.
Matt Hallock (39:15)
Yeah.
Christopher Miser (39:26)
because I took the topic of how big God is. That was gonna be an episode, right? It's gonna be called, Know Before Whom You Stand. And I was like, okay, this will be cool. God is huge and there's all kinds of stuff. It's gonna be super easy to put this thing together. And I'm just gonna start at the beginning of the Bible and I'm gonna work my way through and it's gonna be awesome, okay? So I start typing some stuff out that's gonna help me talk about it. And I'm at 18 pages and I'm on
I think I made it to songs. Okay, so I'm on 18 typed pages and I'm on songs and I'm like, okay, well, I think this episode is not it's gonna be like five episodes is gonna be part one, part two, part three. So, uh, man, speaking about how, how big and powerful God is, I was so naive.
Matt Hallock (40:09)
Yeah.
I don't know how you thought.
Yeah.
I don't know how you thought it was going to be one episode.
Christopher Miser (40:25)
No,
no, that's because I'm not that smart.
Matt Hallock (40:29)
I
I'll start at Genesis and go to Revelation and it'll be one 40 minute episode.
Christopher Miser (40:32)
Yeah, it's not. It's just it'll be super easy.
Yeah. It turns out that the entire Bible is showing how big God is. So I really Yeah, I'd love it if people came and listened to that and got something from it. And, and so I'm working on that. We're still working on my business stuff. And then, you know, the cats out of the bag, I am going to go on a big backpacking trip. And we'll talk about that more in the future. But
Matt Hallock (40:43)
Yeah
sorry.
Yeah.
Yeah, I saw the memes you texted us a while ago, the cat coming out of the bag. yes.
Christopher Miser (41:07)
Yeah, the cat's out.
Yeah, people know I'm going on a trip again.
Matt Hallock (41:13)
Yeah, so there
will be more to come with that.
Christopher Miser (41:17)
Yeah,
I just, man, I love being out in God's creation and seeing what that is a huge boost for me.
Matt Hallock (41:28)
Yeah. Yeah.
Christopher Miser (41:33)
Also, I love accomplishing something. I've got a goal I really want to accomplish and so I'm...
Matt Hallock (41:38)
Yeah, yeah, that's going to be good. It's going to be fun and exciting. And, and yes, we will, there will be more to come with that for, for us as well. We'll, we'll save that. till we, till we know everything about that, but Chris, thanks for being on the show today. Everybody go find his podcast, heat and light on Spotify and Apple, and listen to his
Christopher Miser (41:41)
and some.
Matt Hallock (42:08)
the episodes he's got there and follow the unfolding saga of the bigness of God as well. When that gets rolling. Yeah, right, right. Anyway, thanks everybody for listening. Chris, thanks for being here. We'll talk to you all soon.
Christopher Miser (42:16)
Yeah, hopefully it gets done soon. my goodness. I don't even think I'm halfway. All right.
All right.
