Josh (00:00)
What is going on guys and welcome back to the process of becoming. My name is Dino. And I'm Josh. And we are here back with another episode and for today we got a special one guys. I think we've been talking about it for like the last two weeks now, but it is official. We're going to touch on the subconscious mind today as it pertains to essentially just being the best version of yourself and how the subconscious mind plays a pivotal role in who we are, how we act, what we think, how we feel.
And then some ways that we can get through it, take control of it. And the cool part about today, guys, is a lot of the things that we're gonna talk about, we've actually discussed in various different forms that touch on subconscious and how to take control over it. But this time, we just haven't gone over the actual topic of subconscious. So I'm ready. Josh, are you ready? I'm ready, man. Let's hit it. All right. You have a good week this week?
yeah, let's probably we should probably catch up. Hey man, just bulldozing right? I know dude. I'm ready. I didn't get to see you this much that much to the holidays. That is true. I was going to say I was off Wednesday. Obviously yesterday was Friday. So I was on Friday too and then fourth of July. Yeah. So I've been gone all week. I was here yesterday and it was amazing. There was like seven people here. Really? Yeah. The office was that dead. It was dead. my God. And by the time I got to, I stayed until like almost seven. There was literally no one here. That is surprising. It was awesome. I was like, I got so much done.
Isn't it dude, but that's a so funny enough. I used to come up here and work on Saturday specifically. Like I would do all my work on Saturdays. just because of that reason, like dude, I love being around everyone, but it's, you get so much more done dude. And it's a lot easier to lock in when you're by yourself. It was a good day. What'd you guys do? Did you guys do anything fun? What'd you like? Nah, man, I showed, I got a tattoo. I know I could tell I'm looking at it. So I, I, I took the opportunity. I've been thinking about getting to sleep for a long time and then
about a year ago, I started getting more serious and then in the last six months, I was like, I just need to figure out what I want. And then I just need to go find out who's going to do it. So finding out who's going to do it was the hard part. Found a guy, he did amazing work. Just knocked it out seven hours. Yeah, I could tell. It's fucking nice. Your hotness level went up by like 10. Yeah, I mean, I know I need to get hot dad. I need a jean jacket and a Camaro and I'm getting shorts. That's what you need. A Camaro for sure. The jorts, the mullet and the Camaro. Yeah, I can help with the mullet.
I've had a mold before. I miss you, man. I'm excited to get this episode knocked out with you. Likewise, bro. It's been a while. Like Dino said, guys, one of the things that you're going to see here, there's been a common theme in everything that we've talked about. And now what we're going to do today is we're going to kind of just step into identifying the different components of your mind and really just identify that so you can learn to reprogram it. We're going to also set you at ease with some of the things that you've probably experienced over time of like, man, just being at war with yourself mentally.
We're going to make some sense for the sense of that today. But I want to kind of step into this with a question. right. So thinking about this one day and actually saw some stuff about it and it kind of just popped back into my mind. But where is your mind? I mean, like they have they've identified that where our brain is, right? It's a fatty organ in our head. Okay, but they haven't been able to identify where our mind actually lives. I think it's so complex, dude.
Because I remember when I was actually, I don't even know. That's a good question. Obviously, I can't answer this because I'm not a fucking. Yeah, but no one's been able to answer it. But I think, dude, it's funny that you bring that up because I think when you think about subconscious mind, that's one of the things that the world is trying to figure out. Like, how does it work? Where does it come from? How's that? That's an interesting one. So the thought, the prevailing thought, and like if you just think about like what thoughts are right there, electrical impulses.
Right. So now going into the quantum, is the subconscious mind even in our physical being or is it in the quantum field and it's constantly influencing us from an external source? That's a good question. No one knows. That's a great question. Do you think when you think about the example of like everyone stepping on, you know, when someone gets the end of a cliff, right? And they have all the same thought. Do you think that's why we all have that same exact thought too?
It's a very, it's a real possibility. Because what I know about the quantum field and the whole idea of that is that if an idea, if a thought, if an intelligence, if anything exists, right, which, you know, you think about intelligence, infinite intelligence, whatever it already exists. So the theory there is that if it exists in the quantum field, we can tap into it anytime we want. We just got to get ourselves there from a standpoint of emotional and levels of energy. So is our subconscious mind even inside of us? That's a great question.
You know what I mean? Dude, that's so interesting. It's kind of mind boggling to think about. Did they, so I've actually, I don't know this for sure, but when it comes to the subconscious mind, did they figure out the subconscious lives somewhere in the brain? I don't think so. I mean, they've essentially the theory, the prevailing theory is that it's a, it's nothing more than a bunch of impulses and chemical reactions. Which makes total sense. Yeah. But that's a, you know, it's just a theory. I don't know if they even have equipment to be able to prove this. Wow. Right now thinking back to some of Dr. Joda Spenz's work, like he's
seen changes in the subconscious mind with certain brain scans. So it's like by nature of that, it's like, all right, well, does the subconscious mind even live there? Or is that just a physical manifestation of the subconscious mind? That's a very interesting question. Yeah. Because this brings me up to another question. It's like, when you think about DNA, I'm pretty sure and correct me if I'm wrong, but there are studies that you can actually change your own DNA just by thought alone. 100%.
So maybe it's like essentially like DNA, right? Like obviously you're born with DNA because your parents blah, blah. But whenever you get older, you start to access, you know, the quantum field, you get to essentially adjust those genes. And to your point, it's like, what if the subconscious the same way? What if we're born with subconscious thoughts that have just been passed along, but then it's not really born in us. It's through the magnetic field that's created because we're created out of fucking nothing.
So now taking this a step further in a layer deeper. Holy shit. Where are we going? Is that all right. So we all have a spirit, right? Right. What if our spirit is our subconscious mind and it's actually in our in our entire body? Because the human body communicates. And if we if we boil it down to the subconscious mind being a bunch of nerve impulses and electrical signals, OK, that's happening in our body billions of times every second. So maybe just a thought, but is our subconscious mind actually our spirit?
I could see it. You know what I mean? I mean, I think it would make sense. Wow. Cause I mean, when you think about it and I'll go to use your example when we talked about the five barriers to change, right? It's like a spiritual warfare. Yeah. Well, it's like, once you lose sight of that spirit, it's harder to tell what's right or wrong. But when you're locked into that spirit, the subconscious doesn't fully control you. It does, but in a way that aligns with what you actually want to do compared to what you don't.
Hmm. That's an interesting take. I like this, dude. Now, take it another layer. Let's go. See you guys. We're getting a little bit of an insight to the conversations, you know, and I typically have in the office. So another layer deeper. So the subconscious mind can be programmed. And this is my argument for it being our spirit. Okay. We're constantly like you see these people that are evil, right? And just do crazy acts of stuff that hey, I could never read. I could not do that. Okay, well, that is evil.
Programming that subconscious mind to to their physical manifestation in their belief system Right that they believe these things are actually correct, right? So What if that is like the external force that drives it whether it's evil good like whatever you know what I mean? I see what you're saying. Yeah, it's freaking wild That's a that's a very good point because I mean even if you think about the people that do Those unthinkable things a lot of them actually believe that they're doing good exactly
That's an interesting that's an interesting one. So you really want to your and correct me if I'm wrong But you're saying essentially the spirit is really the thing that's running us and it's the subconscious mind the whole time really and What influences that spirit is based on? Basically again what we think supposed to be and then we go with that rather it's right or wrong But we think it's right no matter what yeah, and I guess such a huge driver of the subconscious mind is your belief systems, right? So
you know, take that a step further, right? And as Christians, you believe that if you say the Lord's Prayer and accept Jesus in your life and repent, and just live a good life, but not a perfect life, it's not it's not driven off of actions, but you just believe in your heart that you're going to heaven when you die, you know, and it's hard to experience and get data for that. But that's a belief system that your spirit and your spirit being eternal, whether it lives before it comes into our body and after our body, right? Maybe that's the whole deal.
And that is your subconscious mind while you're here on earth. That's interesting. That's weird. That is very interesting. My brain goes with it. The cool part about it is at the end of the day is you always are in control of changing that subconscious mind. That's the beauty of it. Let's dive into practical. We may have lost some people there. Just so you know, based on what Josh is saying, this is, it's not that you're whatever you're born with and however you think now, that doesn't mean you're stuck there. It's not what he's saying. It is completely changeable. We're going to dive into that. Yeah, because that is a...
proven fact that you can actually adjust your subconscious brain. Yeah, 1000%. I love it. So from my standpoint, guys, really just right out of the gate, something to identify is that you have a subconscious mind and you have a conscious mind, right? So your conscious mind is the analytical part of your brain. It's the part of your brain that that has thoughts, right? It comes up with goals and ideas. And it's the part that is usually just at the forefront, very slow when it comes to taking in information subconscious mind that is a deeper
who knows where it resides kind of situation. But that is a part of your brain that literally almost think about that as like the computer program. That is the computer program that, hey, like whatever program is running on your computer, you open it up and it pops up the data and the information that you see. The software, the programming, that is your subconscious mind. That's where a lot of your emotions, your beliefs and all these deep rooted things come from. And today we're gonna talk a little bit about just how those pertain to one another when it comes to just making your life better.
like Dino said, but really it's understanding that like you can reprogram them, you know, and, one thing I tell people right out of the gate is as like a disclaimer is, you know, you've been programmed for the last, however many years you've been alive one way or the other, right? Good or bad or, you know, and again, you can attach whatever meaning you want to that experience. But the cool thing is, is it doesn't take that much time to reprogram it once you're just conscious and intentional about it. So we'll be diving into that. So anything you want to add in there? Yeah, I want to actually hit on something.
with going through this process, I think a lot of people get stuck. And this is something that I got stuck in is thinking, I'm like, why am I doing this? Why am I doing this? Or why am I this way? And something you said, right, is everything of who we are today is based on all the experiences, everything that's happened to us in a way, shape or form, right? Now, obviously there's a lot of things at that time that we didn't have control over that make us who we are today. And my whole goal with saying this is
just because maybe you do some things or think some things or have emotional responses to things subconsciously, don't allow that to take it personal, right? And like, cause a lot of us, it's like, man, I'm this way. And it's like, yeah, sure. You are based on some of the things you learned in the past, but that doesn't define who you are. And I say this because a lot of us, again, subconscious mind is the thing that runs a lot of our day to day, right? We, we'd like to think it's a conscious mind, but it's not. It's the thing that you do without having to think with me saying that is
don't take that as like something it's on your fault, right? And don't take that personal because at the end of the day you can change, right? But I hope that kind of makes sense. But my overall point in this goal of saying this is, hey, don't take it personal in the sense of like, don't be mad at yourself that you think these things or act this way subconsciously. Because all of us have that in some way, shape or form. We all have something that we're not proud of, act a certain way, have emotional responses, but this is why we're doing this, is because it's a process of getting better. So.
no matter where you are day one today kind of thing. And that's really what I want to set in tone with this. Yeah. I love that. Another way to kind of put that as the way my brain interprets that, cause that was well said is like, don't allow your subconscious mind where it's at right now to create the identity that you have to have for the rest of your life. Correct. Correct. So it's completely changeable. And the really cool thing guys, and this is something to just be cautious of. The Dino's point, like your conscious mind is, is dictating how you move through most days in terms of the conscious stuff that you're thinking, right? Hey, I'm going to wake up. I'm going to do this. I'm going to do that. But
understanding that like 95 plus percent of the things that you do on a daily basis are driven. The thoughts that you have, the actions that you take are driven by your subconscious mind in that programming. So one thing I'll say right out of the gate is if you started out your journey, right, and you're like, hey, I'm trying to be better, but I have that voice in my head telling me I'm not good enough. Okay, that's your subconscious mind. That's the old programming. So we're going to kind of step through. And we've honestly, again, we've talked about a lot of this stuff, but it's just going to be tying it all together in a nice little package for you.
It's understanding that, hey, I can reprogram that bad boy and that's not who I am. Right. And we're just going to help you understand that if you are having those thoughts, cool. To Dino's point, that's not who you are anymore. Right. We can reattach the meaning that we want to those experiences that led to that. And again, that's why we talk about retroactively thinking back to the different situations of your life and really deal with some of those things. And then moving forward, it's like understanding that we can recreate habits, right.
talked about the visualization loop, right? And we can even re -highlight that real quick, but that is the biggest thing that we want to do is just reprogram that subconscious mind through the actions that our conscious mind is trying to push us towards. And early on, you're going to have it at odds with one another. There's going to be the, hey, I'm trying to move forward positively, but there's something holding me back. There's beliefs, there's thoughts in my head. There's a little voice there telling me I can or I shouldn't or I won't. I'm not capable or I'm not good enough.
That's just your subconscious mind. And once you identify that and then actually intentionally start working towards it, you're okay with that because you know that it's going to get better. And if you don't have that belief for yourself, Dino and I are perfect living examples of it, you know, so, you know, real quick, before we dive into that, like, let's talk about early on in your journey. You asked me this before, before we started recording, but what were some of the things like the limiting beliefs that you had, like your subconscious programming, and how did you fight through that? That's a, that's a good question. For me, one of the biggest things man was always,
self -doubt and a lot of judgment in myself and you know growing up you kind of start to compare you know other people how they live and all this kind of stuff and for me I always realized that in my in the back of my brain I was always thinking I wasn't good enough you know like I have to kind of fit into what other people think of me or whatever because I don't want to make anyone hate me or not like me or whatever the case may be right and for the longest time I
Now here's the actual cool part. I've turned some of that into a superpower today, but I also see where it's impacted me negatively, right? So to say, because I use that as my identity where I was like the scared kid. He was afraid to, you know, make someone mad or angry or whatever. So I would just kind of do what everyone else wanted me to do just so I can kind of fit for them. And I didn't realize this until soccer time, right? Because when I started playing soccer, it kind of showed me this full force, right? Because
Now it's like you're on a field, you're a person on the field, you play a role in the team success, right? And it's like, you're basically out in the open in the spotlight, right? So it's like, if you're not doing certain things, you can start to, people see it, you know? So a lot of that started to really hit home when I started to visualize, man, because, you know, like, and I've told you guys this, visualization really hit home for me when it was me wanting to become a professional soccer player, right? And it's changed my life ever since.
But that was actually the process that I noticed it the most because there was this moment in time where I remember I looked at like, and I think I've told you this, but I compared like the professionals, right? The people that get paid millions of hundreds, hundreds of millions of dollars to go play on the field. And I remember watching them one day and it dude. Now I've watched soccer before, but there was one moment in particular where it hit night and I saw the best player in the world miss wide open. And I, and I looked at that and I'm like, dude, I would quit.
Like I'm like, I'm not good enough. I, and then I watch him just stand up, pick his head up, turn right back around and continue to play. And he played very well the rest of the game. And I just kind of thought about it. And I was like, dude, that guy gets paid millions to miss. And I'm over here afraid to even shoot the ball because I can miss. And then what are other people going to say about me? Right. So long story short with all this, it really started with soccer and it started with, me really paying attention to what other people think, how they feel. And I would let that affect me.
And I realized this because again retroactively thinking through this, you know This has been always a part of my life in some way shape or form because you know We can go deep dive into my life and how I grew up and the refugee camps and all this shit But it played a big role into that piece and I remember when I started visualizing dude, I was like, okay Hades I want to be a professional soccer player and I remember this thought came into my head like you're not gonna You're not gonna do it and to your point of the the battle that you get into that was my battle
Right? Because I was wanting to become this person of, influence, this person who does well, who scores goals, who's the guy. But then there's this thought that was like, Hey, you're not, you're not that guy you're gonna, you're gonna miss. What if you do this? What if people say this? What if this? And that's really how it connected. And I hope that really answers the question that you're kind of, that you put out there. Sorry. Fucking big story tying dude. but yeah, man, that's, that's really when I noticed it, was when I started to visualize and I heard these thoughts and just, you know, paying attention to a lot of.
how I reacted to things that other people wouldn't react the same way towards, if that makes sense. Yeah, that's awesome. So for me, it was just growing up. I grew up pretty poor. I hadn't had a whole lot of success around me. So the subconscious programming that I had was like, you're not going to be successful, right? Like, this is just the life that's happening. But there was always something inside of me that was like, no, like, I don't want this. I just need to figure out how to not have this. And I searched for that for a number of years, you know.
So for me though, I didn't understand all this stuff, obviously at the time neither did Dino. But it was just understanding and this is really like looking back retroactively in my life, like the whole process over outcome thing that I figured out or that I've learned and teach on now is, it's really like one of my mantras is process over outcome. It's like if you figure out an outcome that you want, if you just attach yourself to the right type of process and just keep moving, you're going to change where you're at. You're going to change your current life. So
But really a big thing for me was looking at the small wins along the way, right? Because I had no reason to believe at that time based on the college education that I had that was more or less useless, right? I went to college for human movement mechanics and personal training, nutrition type stuff. So it was like, I got out of school and it's like, I'm gonna be a personal trainer that makes like $12 an hour. How am I gonna be successful doing this? Right? And it's like, I shifted that into the hospital where I went on a cardiac path.
where my degree actually helped me with that, which is weird. I never would have thought it went down that path. And I'm like, all right, this is good. This is a step up in life. And I started associating with people that were successful in the hospital, like doctors and surgeons and things. I'm like, all right, cool. These guys have a different life. So I started believing a little bit more, but I just kept on the process of looking for the next thing of like, I don't know what it is or where it's going to be, but something here is going to break free. I'm going to be able to make more money. I'm going to be able to create the freedom, but even more so during that whole time.
At the hospital, I was pouring into my own mindset. I started reading books. Wasn't really absorbing them or knowing what I was doing with it, but I was changing that subconscious programming from a belief standpoint. Like, hey, maybe this is possible. Maybe I don't have to stay here. Did you know you were changing that process as you were doing it or were you just doing it? No, I just knew like, hey, if I want to be somewhere better in life, I probably have to do something different. I got to change the patterns of my life, which is a huge thing.
I didn't understand why, but I was like, again, process over outcomes, like the process that I've been running, it's not working. It's me going and being a personal trainer, doing that. And again, if had I known what I know now, I could have been extremely successful, but I didn't know it. Right. So I just changed the process. It's like, all right, me going home and watching TV all night, that's not changing my life. So what is going to do it? All right. Well, I can read a book about somebody that has changed their life, maybe pick something up and take it. And I just continued on that process.
led me to my next career, which was in sales, made an insane amount of money doing that, had an insane amount of time freedom. And I was like, all right, cool. And that's really where I started pouring on the gas where it's like, all right, all these things that I used to believe about being stuck, those are no longer even a thing. Like the possibilities are endless now. And I learned that through reading different books, through breaking the patterns of my own life. And the last thing with it is stopping down and identifying my own wins, right? Because a lot of people don't identify the small wins that they have.
And if you don't identify the small wins, then you're stuck. You may not physically actually be stuck, but you're telling yourself that you are, which is going to attract more of that stuckness to you. So I was identifying the small wins of progress that I had along the way. Really not even super intentionally. It's like, man, like I'm in a way better spot than I was two years ago, right? What's possible two years from now, right? And then, you know, along the way, you guys know the story. I'm here and I won't get into all that, but it was, it was changing the patterns. All right. It was understanding that there has to be more out there.
And then for me, the voice that was in my head is like, you're not gonna make it. You're gonna be stuck in this small town forever. And I just kept attacking the process. I honestly just ignored the voice. So like, it doesn't have to be that way. And now I know what I know retroactively looking back, it's like, yeah, I was rewiring my own subconscious without even really knowing it by going against the belief that was in my head. And big reason why I think personally that I went against the belief that was there is I'm just a stubborn dude.
Like if the government tells me something to do, I'm doing the opposite. So I adopted that at a pretty young age. I think, dude, there's something cool I want to actually pull out of there. That is a thing that I want you guys to take away because this is one thing that Josh and I don't know if Josh was sorry. It's a STEM 30. And I don't know if you know that you were doing this or that this actually had an effect on you. But when you said you were looking at the small wins.
That actually has a bigger role on taking control of your subconscious mind and rewiring it than I think a lot of people imagine. Okay. And when you're like, okay, why? Well, think about this. When you focus on a small win and let's say this is, I know this is dumb, but let's say brushing your teeth is a small way. Well, how often do we brush your teeth and not think about it every fucking day? Right. But what happens if you take that moment to be like, damn, that's a, that's a win. It forces you to be in the present. When you're in the present, the subconscious stops running and now you're in control.
And the more that you do those things, see the little wins, the more of the glimpse of control you get. And then the more times you do that, all of a sudden it gets a lot easier to stay present, to stay in the now, to be able to control your thoughts. And I actually want to tie this in, dude, because there was one thing, and I don't know if I've ever mentioned this on the podcast, but I started doing this similar to you without realizing what I was doing, but it actually changed my awareness completely and it helped rewire my brain a lot.
But I started taking different paths to work to school I started doing things that I normally wouldn't do but a lot of it was on the road, right? So like for example, we have this stop sign out here How many times do you ever see another car in the other fucking? Lanes and then you have to stop one out of a hundred one out of hundred So you really don't have to stop I'd never stop never stop Well, here's why you should because when you can force yourself to stop which this is what I do now I force myself to stop at the stop signs
because I'm like, I don't have to, but I will on purpose because it makes me be present. And I didn't know I was doing that double time. So my tip to people similar to the small ones of your day is like change your route, change something that you do, because again, all change and attention are the ways that you kind of take control over that subconscious. Right? So it's like, how can you do that? Well, it doesn't have to necessarily be just through your fitness or just through the day to day. It can literally be as simple as just driving and choosing to go a different path or
hey, instead, I bought coffee for my friend today. That's a win because now I get to make his day. Boom, you're present. The more that you do those things, the more you take control. So something I want to highlight. No, it's great. And I think it's a great point to bring up. Because we're going back to it. But like your subconscious mind, that programming dictates about 95 % of how you act to respond and do things day to day. That's your beliefs. That's your emotional responses, right? Then don't get it confused. I said earlier, the subconscious mind dictates thought.
or I'm sorry, the conscious mind dictates thought. Well, the subconscious mind dictates emotions, right? Which again, which is why there's a lot of anxiety in my opinion. And this chaos going on in your own mind sometimes because like you have these subconscious beliefs, but conscious thoughts, and it's not that they don't always line up like the emotional versus the conscious. So, but interrupting patterns guys, like your subconscious mind is responsible for about 95 % of those things. And it wants to make things habitual.
because from an energy standpoint, you spend way less energy in your mind and in your brain when things are automatic. You know, and the example I always use in this scenario is the how you shower, right? Everybody showers the exact same way every single time. We may not all shower in the same order, but like when I take a shower, it's always the exact same way. And it's an actual funny time to be talking about this because with my tattoo, I usually wash my left arm first and I haven't been washing my left arm because it's got the wrap on it. Right. And it threw me off in the shower.
And I was like, wait a minute, this doesn't feel right. And it threw it off. So interrupting those patterns is a very, very, very key thing to do. And that's what Dino's talking about. Yeah. Sorry. I was, I wanted to, I pulled something up as you were talking. I watched some videos from that guy. Did you watch? Dude, this guy's awesome. but he talks about, cause you said anxiety. now obviously this doesn't really fully tie into everything that we want to touch on. but dude, sometimes we hear anxiety so much nowadays and there's this guy, his name is Dr. TJ Williams.
I posted him on my story the other day, but he talks about how anxiety is not an actual human emotion He said there are essentially there's four human basic emotions Okay, anxiety is not one of them. The four basic human emotions are mad sad glad and scared and Every other emotion just ties into that right? Then he talks about that that anxiety comes from fear, right and I think a lot of us
Fear is the real reason that things stop us, but we say anxiety because it, truthfully, anxiety makes it easier to not change. I want to say, right? Like that's where my mind goes. Now I don't know if this is actually true scientifically or not, but when I hear, when you hear fear, it's really more of you're in control, right? Because you're just scared to do this thing. When you're in anxiety, it's almost like there's a secret thing that you just don't know about that you're trying to get through. And you're like, my God, I can't do this. When we're talking about changing your life and taking control of the subconscious and rewiring these things.
Anxiety can come into play where it's like, my god, I'm my heart's beating whatever but it's not really anxiety It's fear of changing the person that you want to Become or changing yourself to become the person that you want to be the reason it's such a fear is because subconsciously we've been programmed to be a person for the last 20 30 40 years and This fear is gonna be a big role and the thing me and Josh are talking about into not wanting you to change, right? So
when it becomes, when it's going to get hard to do because that battle that you're talking about, this is where I think a lot of that battle comes from is changing the person that you, your, your brain knows you were right. The subconscious of all the experiences. And that's what holds us together. It holds us from not going forward or changing because it feels like you're almost deleting an entire history. And guess what? That's okay. So sorry to kind of tie that in. I just had to put that up. That's great. That's a great tie in. And again, it's, it's your subconscious mind guys is that's where a lot of your identity comes from.
You know, it's really, again, it's the hard programming that has shaped everything that you have become to this point. And the point that we want to make and the help that we're talking about with the breaking the patterns, identifying the small wins, visualizing, starting to create new habits. These are all things that can help you reprogram this bad boy. So something else that's really valuable, and I was teaching on this a little bit this week, is...
Again, it goes back to simple stuff we've already talked about. It's a contrast list, right? Because it's a lot of times the subconscious mind can dictate the first thought that we have, right? It does dictate thought. But it's like that first thought comes to your mind, okay, I'm not capable of this. I can't do this. Cool. Well, what are you doing with the second thought? Right? And the contrast list will help you identify the second thought that you should be having, right? So just practical standpoint of how this works is whatever limiting beliefs you have, whatever things that come to your mind that you say, man, I really don't want that. Okay, write it down.
Write down what that thought was. On the other side of the paper, write down the thought that you want to have. Right? And that's a very practical way of how you start reprogramming your subconscious mind with your conscious mind. And again, to Dino's point, it's just an intentional process, which interrupts the automatic or automaticity. Is automaticity a word? I don't know. We're making it where it is now. I'm down. I like it. It interrupts that automation. Automation, baby. It's true. But yeah, it's a really important thing. And then over time, what happens is you're going to start noticing that that voice is quieter.
and then it's gone and then it becomes a positive voice. And now it's like, okay, cool. I'm reprogramming this. And again, going back, that's a win that we need to stop down and identify, you know, because it's, it's reinforcing the, Hey, the actions that I'm taking, the process that I'm running, it's leading to a better outcome. So really simply way to put this guys is your subconscious mind and literally almost anything in your life, it operates on inputs and outputs. And one thing I'll say about the subconscious mind real quick, very, very sneaky. Okay. The subconscious mind can process billions of pieces of information at a time.
Right? Where the conscious mind is very, very much slower computer. It's like a original computer versus a super computer. So with this said, there's a lot of things that are going into your subconscious mind that you have no idea about. Right? So it's, I was just talking to my friend, Jenny Lee, about this the other day. It's a blessing and a curse because once you understand how your subconscious mind works and the fact that it's always running, it's picking up things that your subconscious mind didn't even pick up. Right? An example of this, you're in the gym. Okay. You're working out. You don't have headphones on, but there's TVs playing.
and there's there's closed captioning on the screen and there's also a little tiny bit of volume or there's even music going on behind you. Your subconscious mind is picking all those things up even though you might not even consciously know that you can hear the TV. Right. And that stuff is programming. What music are you listening to? What are the words of that music? What are the frequencies of that music? What kind of TV are you watching? What are the genres of it? Like all these murder shows? Yes. Women watch that is programming your subconscious mind. So again, I sound like an old timer talking about
kids in video games, but there's a hell of a lot of truth to it. No, bro. You're, you're a hundred percent right. I think, and this is the part where I think a lot of us, like when you use your subconscious, it sounds like it's this, big thing you got to take over, but in reality it starts so small, right? Like how you take control of the subconscious mind is very, very like little small details that lead to this big change. and, and with this process of doing this, you know, you hear this all the time in the fitness space, but like Rome wasn't built in a day. Okay.
But I like to use this analogy because when you build a house or when you build something, it takes a lot longer than when you have to destroy it. Because when you think about building a building, you got to build the foundation, the blocks, whatever. Now, if I got to destroy it, I bring in my fucking bulldozer and I don't crush it. It takes way less time. So I say this because as you guys do this, let time take control of it, take control of this process. What I mean by that is invest time and don't look for a day or a month.
if it doesn't work in a month, I'm going to stop. No, no, no. Like you have to keep doing this for a long time. But I think this is the beauty of life, right? Because at the end of the day, the thing that controls us, we now know what it is and it's the subconscious. Right. So how do we program that? It's like, it's like having a computer of your life and you're like, damn, I don't know how this works. And why is this making this decision and this decision and this decision, whatever. But now you have an idea of how to control it. Well, wouldn't you want to figure out a way to take control over and make it operate for you? Absolutely.
Yes, it's going to take time. Yes, it's going to be hard, but now you know the answer. Take control of that. And guess what? That's the beauty. You take control of this. Everything else kind of trickles in, right? Whatever career you want, whatever relationships you want, whatever body you want physically, mentally, whatever it comes with the process of taking control of the subconscious. So that's kind of the thing I want to tie it. No, that's such a freaking awesome analogy. It's a great one. I like the way your mind works. Guys again, coming back to the inputs, we're going to simplify this, right? So
Inputs versus outputs, the things that have dictated where your subconscious mind is now, which ultimately help dictate where your life is, because it's belief systems, it's identity, it's all these emotions, right? The inputs, think about those. What are you listening to? What are you watching? What are you reading? What voice or what words are you saying to yourself? Right? These are all inputs. And guess what? Part of these inputs, at least from the voice speaking to yourself, your subconscious dictates that. But the other ones, as far as what do you watch? What do you listen to? All these things where you
actually reading, you get to dictate that your conscious mind can say, I'm gonna make this decision. And then sometimes the conscious, the subconscious mind will fight you. But it's just overcoming that inertia and just making it freaking happen. It is a battle, right? And you're gonna have to push. And I want to tie in something to what you're talking about. But it's like the red car theory, right? And what a lot of the times, man, I don't know if we know this, but we're always influenced by something, okay.
Like even just me and you talking about whatever we talk about today is going to influence a conversation or a thought that I have later on in the day. It always happens that way. So Josh's point with like what you're listening to, what's in the background, who you're talking to, what you're reading, what you're putting in, all that shit has an impact on you. Right. It's like, and I know I'm not the only one, but when you watch a scary movie and then you go to sleep, I'm thinking some scary shit. Right. Well, it's not, and that's not a normal thought, but it happened because I watched that scary movie. Okay. But that is still conscious.
How many times does that happen to the subconscious mind? Right? Like how many times do we hear things and we let it happen? And dude, this is so funny enough. I don't know if you actually know this, but I listen to like all kinds of music, but one of my favorite kinds is Korean music, K -pop. Okay. I know it sounds weird, but here's why I don't understand half the shit they're talking about, but it sounds awesome. And it sounds very positive. It's very like hype music, but I actually made that switch because
a lot of the music I was, I'm a big rap guy, right? you're pretty, you're pretty gangster. I'm, I'm, I could, you know, a little bit. I'm okay. I'm okay. I'm not, not your typical kind of gate. I'm like the friendly kind, you know? no, I'm just kidding. I appreciate that Josh, but no, but rap, like, dude, when you listen to rap, the lyrics and some of the things that they say that it has actually influenced my life a lot. Because like, when I think back to some of my thought processes in the way that I used to think and the friend groups I was involved in.
I started listening to rap music early on and it influenced me a lot, you know and to Josh's point about what you're inputting It does have a impact on you whether you realize it or not So choose to switch it up and it's why I switched up my music and the things that I listen to now because it's had an impact on my life and Allows me to not be influenced by some of those negative things. Yeah, especially negative lyrics, right? my god, it's going in there People to people to the people that you're around play big fucking role huge huge role
So it's something I want to throw out here guys is, and this is the dad and me coming out. Okay. It's understanding that this is also, this also pertains to your kids. You know, if you're one of those parents and I'm not, not bashing anybody that gives their kids iPad time and their kids, you know, it's just, it's the technological age that we're in. Be mindful of what they're watching and listening to, right? You were seeing this huge trend in, in depression and all these like anxiety and like ADHD and all these different things. Well,
Are we allowing our kids to be programmed by an iPad? Or are we talking to our kids and programming our own kids, right? Because at the end of the day, like they are being programmed, right? So be very conscious of that. Be conscious of how you talk to your kids, the words that you put into your kids' minds, like the affirmations that you speak to your kids, the conversation you have, right? Be conscious of how they talk and correct those things, right? You have an opportunity now, knowing how this works and how the programming affects your entire life.
Look at your own life retroactively. It's like, all right, the environment that I grew up in was not a positive environment. That's what led to a lot of the identity issues that I had in my teenage years and why I got into groups and started doing drugs. And it's like, why I did all this stuff, because I was programmed from a young age in a very bad way, right? Thank God that I was able to turn that and become what I am now. But there's a lot of people that don't have the opportunity or that make that switch. So.
I think as parents sometimes we take it for granted that like, Hey, our kids are going to be, they're just going to turn out. Okay. And we even do that for ourselves. Like everything it's just going to work out. Not unless you take control of it. It's not just going to happen. Understand that. So this is something where you have to take a very conscious effort. You have to be very intentional with. So, and, to Josh's point, I think it's important to say that it will work out, but what he's saying is without any action on that, nothing will fucking happen.
And like we've talked about, right? You can have the thought, the thought is very fucking important. But if it doesn't follow with the action or vice versa, like it does not work the way you want it to. That action is so powerful. Yeah. It goes back to the visualization loop, guys. So just to kind of re -step through that in case you're newer to the show and you haven't heard that episode. The visualization loop is literally, this is the subconscious reprogramming at play. The top of the circle there is your reality. You get to dictate what your reality is in your mind. Because again, the subconscious mind doesn't know what's real, what's not real.
So if we picture the life that we want, if we emotionally tap into the person that we want to become and we visualize that, that is going to lead to more conscious thoughts that are positive. That's how you reprogram your mind. You put a different image of what you want in your mind. Okay, you visualize that consistently over and over, over a period of time. You look at that and say, that is the life I want. That's who I want to be. That changes your thought patterns, conscious thought. Okay, then what happens is that changes your emotion, which we've already identified that your emotion is your subconscious.
So you're already reprogramming it just by changing the thought patterns that you have, interrupting that negative thought, putting a positive, what you actually want into the atmosphere and into, into your subconscious mind. Okay. That subconscious mind is now going to dictate positive action. If you're visualizing positive things, it's going to help change this. Right. And an easy example of how this works is if you've ever been around a friend that has an accent and you hang out with them long enough before you know it, you're starting to pick up some of that accent, right? It's like, that is a simple reprogramming subconscious mind. Right. You see it all the time.
Like my wife, for example, but she's in Pennsylvania with her dad and her dad has this thing where he'll just go, and she did it to me on the phone this morning. I'm like, why are you making it? I didn't even know I was doing it. Right. So that's how easily it is to sub program this. But your thoughts lead to action right now. If you consistently run those more positive actions in your life, you're reprogramming your subconscious mind through that process. And now you're leading the positive habits, which lead you back to a positive reality. Okay. Now the thing I want you to understand
is that your entire life, this visualization loop has been working for you or against you. You have been programming your subconscious mind, which then programs your conscious mind and the beliefs that you think that you're capable of or not, which have reprogrammed your thoughts, actions, habits, led you to this reality. So by nature of simplicity, how you change this is you change the input at the reality level. What do I actually want? How do I want to be? What emotions do I want to feel?
Now I'm going to blow your mind with this because it's something I taught this week and it really clicked for me. The future does not exist. Okay. There is no future, right? The future is right now. And like we said last week, it's also right now. So the cool thing about this is that knowing that the future doesn't exist and this is going to be a little bit of tough love. If you're thinking, Hey, in 10 years, I'm going to be this person. You're never going to be that person because the future does not exist.
You need to be that right now. And how you be that right now is you freaking change the reality and you just decide that you're going to be that and you act as if, right? So understanding that the only way that future me quote unquote, cause the future doesn't exist. Time travels through us, right? If we have this future image of ourself, just be that right now. And that is how you are going to continue to get better at that version as you live present day life every second of every day.
Bro, I love that so much because that's the key. It is. And what Josh is talking about is not when he says become that person now, that doesn't mean you need to know everything that person needs to know. That means when you're like, Hey, I'm this person now, that person will go to work on figuring out what they need to do, which is you to get to that person 10 years from now. But if you don't, if you wait for that person 10 years, you're never going to get there because you're going to constantly feel like you're not enough and you're not doing enough and you don't have enough.
You have everything now and dude, that's how we have to look at it. Everything that we need, everything that requires us to become the person that we want to be, it's in our hands right now. We have it, we hold the key to it. What we do from here is the deciding factor of that all. And that's what we have to look at. Because you have to believe you have it now, because if you don't, you're never going to get there. Because you're going to think there's something that you need special to get there.
You don't what you have now is exactly what you need to get there. Yeah. And it's the law of attraction. Very simple guys. If you're looking at that future 10 year from self now and saying, Hey, I'm not there yet. You're operating out of a place of lack. That's right. And when you operate out of a place of lack, you do not attract what you want. You attract what you are. Your vibrational frequency is very low. So you're going to continue to attract things that are on that frequency, which is not the best version of yourself. It's anything, but it's going to keep you still. Right? So this is something that broke free for me a while back. I didn't quite comprehend it.
But I knew that if I didn't want to be the person that I see myself being, I just need to be that right now. Right? Because again, if I'm operating on that level, to Dino's point, the how and the what and why and all these things, it's all going to figure itself out. Because you're vibrating at a higher frequency, you're going to attract the opportunities and see the pathway forward. To Dino's point last week, it clicked in a lot of people's brains, is that path of grass is now completely mowed down and you have a pathway in front of you. Right? You just got to step over a couple of rattlesnakes from time to time. That's it.
the last last thing and fuck, hold on. I think I kind of lost the point almost damn it. yeah. No, okay. Sorry. But there's a there's a book and I think we referenced this very early on magic and thinking big. Okay. The reason it's a great book is because everything that we talked about, it simplifies it into like the most basic form of anything. Okay. And with what you just talked about with being and becoming that person now and seeing yourself as that person now.
There's this thing that happens and in that book, Magic Thing and Big, it talks about this, but there's two bank tellers and we all have these bank tellers. Okay. There's a negative and a positive and they will deposit and withdraw anytime you call upon one of them. Okay. It's almost like, it's kind of like the version I talked about by feeding the dog. Okay. These bank tellers work in a way where if you ask them for something, they will give it to you no matter what you ask of them. Okay. So the positive one, if I go to the positive one, if I'm like, Hey man, you know, I've
I'm taking on this challenge. I know I can do it. Tell me how I can do it. Well, that bank teller is going to be like, Hey, well, here's how have you done it before? Here's this, here's this example. Here's this example. Here's this example. Now let's use the adverse effect. Okay. Let's say we go to the negative one and we're like, Hey man, I got the challenge, but I don't think I could do it. Well, that bank teller is going to be like, yeah, you're right. Here's why you can't do it. Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. With me saying that when you believe that you can become that person that you want to be in 10 years from now and believe that you have everything that you have.
that you need now to become that person, your mind actually goes to work for you. It's almost like subconsciously you get these ideas dropped down to your brain on how you can become that person. So the tip that I want to give you guys is start viewing yourself as that person today. Just like Josh talked about, you need to become that person now. Because if you want to change, once you become that person now, those thoughts on how to do it will start to become way more clear. yeah. Well, like I said at the very beginning of the call, the quantum field,
Like it literally if an idea, if a belief, if a piece of information exists in anyone's mind, it's in that quantum field. And the idea here is you're raising your vibration and getting closer to that. And the quantum field will make those deposits. And the simplified Dino's point is something we've talked about on the podcast before. Your mind's going to go to work every single day, proving your like trying to prove your subconscious mind true. Right. Right. So if your subconscious belief is this, this or this, your mind's going to go to work every single day, proving it to be true, good or bad.
So the cool thing is we get to dictate what goes in there, the inputs, and we can change what it's trying to prove to be true. So very simple. And that was good. I feel good about it, guys. As always, we appreciate all of you. I've gotten a lot of great feedback this week and last week about different books that we recommended that are helping change people's lives. Book today we reference with Magic of Thinking Big. Phenomenal book. It's one that I read at the beginning of every single year. And I would encourage you to do the same. Grab that book, read it, digest it. I know I talked about a book of my
that I'm reading right now on my stories on Instagram. I'm not willing to share that just yet because it is pretty deep. We're gonna get you guys some foundational books, but down the line here, we will share that one as well. So as always, if you have found some value in this, if you know somebody in your life that could experience anything on the podcast that we've talked about, please share the show. It's why we do this. Thousand percent. And as always guys, if you have any questions, if there's anything that you guys want us to talk about, cover more on, please let us know. Cause you guys know this is why we do this.
We're not looking to make money off this. There's no other reason outside of just wanting to share as much as we've learned along the way for our lives and the things that helped us out to hopefully help you guys out too. So this is why we do it. So then today, if there's anything that you guys need, please reach out to us. Our Instagram handles are on the bio, but outside of that, that's all we got. That's it. All right. You guys have a great rest of the day. We'll talk to you soon. We love y 'all. Peace.
