RAEdio Podcast

Who doesn't like to talk about Real Estate? Host Mark Connolly and Producer Bryn Griffiths chat about a new podcast coming mid January- The RAEdio Podcast. What's it all about? They'll explain.

What is RAEdio Podcast?

The REALTORS® Association of Edmonton (RAE), founded in 1927, is a professional association of real estate brokers and associates in the Greater Edmonton Area and beyond.

Bryn Griffiths:

Hey. We have a new podcast coming up. Mark Connolly is the host. Mark, how are doing?

Mark Connolly:

Bryn, good. Good to chat with you.

Bryn Griffiths:

So tell me what's going on. What's this one all about? This is the Realtors Association of Edmonton?

Mark Connolly:

That's right. I mean, who doesn't like to talk about real estate? Everybody's talking about whether they bought a house, they'd like to buy a house, how houses are unaffordable, and often who helped them buy a house. So the Realtors Association of Edmonton are those people who help you out. And, they wanted to talk about how they can help people and also bring them information about buying and selling and, getting your home ready to sell.

Mark Connolly:

It's pretty complicated. Anybody who's bought or sold a house knows that there's a lot of things that go into it. You're always looking exactly what you're trying to do, and, sometimes people get confused. So we're trying to clear up a few issues there, I think, for people.

Bryn Griffiths:

Here's what I like about this. Everybody thinks they know enough about Realty to be able I could sell my own home. And then all of a sudden, you get into the process and you go, I I had no clue about that.

Mark Connolly:

Well, no matter, which way you go, it is a giant pain in the butt sometimes. Right? So if you get the right person on your side, they can make it a lot easier. And I think I've, over the years known, enough, realtors to know when someone is helpful, very helpful for me, and who I connect with. And I think that's a big part of it.

Mark Connolly:

Like, who who do you click with? You you really wanna trust that person and and know that they have your back more or less. Right? So the Realtors Association of Edmonton, their job is to make sure those realtors have your back and they're well trained, and they've gone through all the procedures, and they've got all the qualifications, all kinds of things they have to do, obviously. There's lots of insurance involved.

Mark Connolly:

There's lots of training. So we're gonna talk about that sort of thing. But then there's the the little things too that you may not maybe you take for granted, like inspections. Like, how how do you get the inspection done, and how do you know that they're looking for the right things when you're buying that house, and what should they look for? And so we'll talk to some inspectors.

Mark Connolly:

Another one that I love is staging.

Bryn Griffiths:

Oh, yeah.

Mark Connolly:

That was something I never heard of, like, thirty years ago, when I bought my first house. What is stage? I don't think I ever was in a house that was staged. But now I think almost every house you go into is staged in some way, trying to make it, look better for buyer. And obviously for the seller, you you wanna put your best face forward sort of on the house.

Mark Connolly:

Right? So staging is a big part of it. So we'll we'll explore areas like that too.

Bryn Griffiths:

See, that's the kind of stuff people often don't think about, and that's the kind of stuff we're gonna go after on this podcast.

Mark Connolly:

No. Absolutely. And and there's so many other aspects that you may not think of. And so the realtors are here to talk about them, and they're gonna bring those ideas forward. And we'll also talk to people who are involved in the bigger sort of housing situation.

Mark Connolly:

And those might be politicians or they might be people in industries that are building homes or that talking about infill, obviously, is a big one in Edmonton. So those kind of things we'll also try to tackle, and those are pretty meaty subjects. So I think it's something we can really get into and really hopefully help people when they're buying or selling a home.

Bryn Griffiths:

The other thing we have to tell people is that the Realtors Association of Edmonton is more than just Edmonton. We're talking about the region. Right? We're talking about the bedroom communities. We're talking about Metro Edmonton, but we're also talking about even a little further afield in Northern And Central Alberta.

Bryn Griffiths:

So this is the swath is wide here.

Mark Connolly:

It absolutely is. And I mean I mean, Edmonton is kind of unique. When you compare Edmonton, say, to Calgary, there's not as many satellite communities. Like, you look around Edmonton, you start in Saint Albert, move over to Fort Saskatchewan, you got the county of Strathcona, Sherwood Park, you've got, you know, Beaumont, you've got Leduc, you got Nisku, you got Spruce Grove, Sony Plane. I mean, have I missed any?

Mark Connolly:

Devon. You know, all the and then there's smaller little towns that are just not that far out of town as well that would be covered by Realtors Association of Edmonton. So there's different aspects to each of those places, and you wanna find the right person if you're looking for a small town buy, say perhaps, or you're on the edge of Edmonton or in the middle of Edmonton. All these things can be affected by who is the person I should hire. And so we hope to bring that kind of perspective to people so they they learn a lot about that.

Mark Connolly:

And I think I think people would be really interested in it because everybody likes to talk about real estate. There's no doubt about it.

Bryn Griffiths:

Okay. So what's the name of this podcast? That's very important to a lot of people.

Mark Connolly:

Yeah. You may remember that I was on the radio for a long time. Bryn obviously on the radio as well. It is the Ray d o podcast. The Ray being Realtors Association of Edmonton.

Bryn Griffiths:

Right.

Mark Connolly:

You get it?

Bryn Griffiths:

Yeah. I got it.

Mark Connolly:

Ray d o.

Bryn Griffiths:

Excellent. And that podcast, the very first one will drop in audio form coming up in the January, so make sure that you write down the radio podcast. And, of course, go to any of your favorite Ear Candy sites, and when it drops, you'll know.
