What is Clydesdale Media Podcast?

We cover the sport of CrossFit from all angles. We talk with athletes, coaches and celebrities that compete and surround in the sport of CrossFit at all levels. We also bring you Breaking News, Human Interest Stories and report on the Methodology of CrossFit. We also use the methodology to make ourselves the fittest we can be.

What's up, everyone?

Welcome to Saturday, Saturday,

Saturday Night CrossFit Talk,

only WFP style.

We are done with day two.

It was a very different day than day

one, I want to say.

Yeah, kind of.

I mean... But what I found...

So it got up to, for me,

it got up.

Anytime you have a long run,

it's going to be a slow start.

It's hard to watch and I don't really

care about running.

Right.

But you actually did the ten K. Yeah.

The exact track that the athletes did.

Yep.

Right after the, literally right after,

I think Dana was the last woman in.

She crossed the finish line,

and they were like, all right, and go.

And they, like,

pulled us up to the start line and

we went.

And what was the course like?

It was fairly flat.

There was, like,

a couple little incline declines,

but it was fairly flat.

Kind of like a big loop out,

and then you hit a turnaround and came

back.

Not the same way you went out,

so you, like, cut in.

And so then there was a five.

You could stop at the five K.

I don't know if the teams were going

five K distance.

Yeah.

I don't know either.

I didn't run.

Yeah.

So you could have five K or you

stayed to the left and did another loop.

So it was,

and it was six point two one.

So actually it actually long by point Oh

one.

I mean, it was basically perfect.

Probably could have cut the tangents maybe

a little more here and there and made

it six point two.

Exactly.

So, yeah, you didn't have a,

They wheeled it off correctly.

The complex that this is at is a

major sports complex.

This is the indoor area with the main

floor is where the Indianapolis Colts

practice.

Okay.

They also have the Pacers headquarters and

training facility on the grounds.

And there's tons of softball, soccer,

tennis.

Yeah.

Soccer was going on while we were running

by.

Like you could hear like someone like got

a goal or something and there was some

cheering going on.

And I was like,

that's definitely not for us.

Cause it was just like four random

spectators running.

Yeah.

Yeah.

there's a ton of fields i know my

nephew like comes out here for baseball

there are so many baseball fields it's

crazy yeah so the track or the route

was all all through that yeah yep so

um we're going to talk about the injuries

in a second right now we're just kind

of recapping the day so then we went

from the run then we went into the

bench press

And my opinion of this isn't what I

thought it would be.

I thought I'd be really excited to watch

bench press.

There was so much interference on the

field of play that it was really hard

to see any of the lifts.

Because each bench had two spotters,

a judge...

And then there was medical and extra

spotters around everywhere.

That doesn't even include the eighteen

media all trying to get a picture of

the exact same person.

At eighteen different angles, apparently.

It was a busy floor during the bench.

That is exactly right, KDL.

Yeah, it was.

I stopped taking pictures.

There was no way to get anything.

Yeah, we went and sat down.

Okay, we're just going to watch this one.

Ishmael said he almost gave up just

because you just couldn't get anything.

And so it made it hard to watch

in the arena for that because the floor

was so busy.

Most of the time I found myself watching

the broadcast on the Jumbotron.

But there were some really cool lifts.

It was cool to see Pat Felner back

out to finish his career,

at least active on the floor.

That was cool.

But then we moved into what I thought

was a pretty exciting event.

I don't think people thought it was going

to do the damage that it did.

I did.

When I saw this workout, I was like,

this is nasty.

But chest-to-bar paired with squats,

especially a sandbag, is just, I mean,

that's awful.

That's an awful pairing.

And that sled was not easy to push.

I thought it was going to be a

sandbag squat workout.

And it was not.

It was at all sled.

If you could figure out the sled,

if you had the right shoe attire on,

you were going to do well.

Yep.

Shoes mattered for sure.

And how low you were willing to get

on the sled.

People were so gassed.

they just could not continue on.

They would just stand there and look at

the sled.

Yeah.

Yeah.

We'll get into that in a second as

we kind of look at the results and

everything,

but that's kind of the overview of the

day.

Again, it's a great feel there.

Like I,

I feel like it's much more enjoyable and

it's different than the games.

Like

It still feels like a big event that

I'm really excited and people are fighting

for points.

And once you understand that the points

are for the season,

they're not for this weekend.

Like it's really about stacking good

events.

If you have a bad event,

so be it.

You just need to hit the next one

to get some points on that overall

leaderboard to get you to the finals.

And so you have a shot at the

finals.

Right.

Because only thirty athletes go to the

finals.

And really there,

if you take all twenty signed pros,

there's only ten spots available.

Right.

And I think that's one of the reasons

you see the injuries.

I do too.

People are fighting to get a paid

contract.

And just a payment.

I think they pay the pay in like

forty deep.

Aren't they even here?

Yeah.

So like, yeah, like places matter.

There's money on the line here.

I feel like at the games after like,

after like tenth,

you basically get no money.

So if you're not top ten,

it kind of is what it is.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Honestly,

this pays way further down in the games.

Yeah.

Like way further down.

So even the people in the,

in the back heats are really putting forth

effort and they are messing up the

leaderboard a lot.

I'm reading the comments.

So there's a lot going on here.

I want to say a lot of heats.

Yes.

There's a lot of heat.

I don't find that when I'm,

when I'm here watching it,

it doesn't feel like it.

Because like I said,

even the bottom heats are working their

ass off to move up the leaderboard.

And if they can put,

if you get a top three finish,

you jet up the season leaderboard.

Right.

Like it is crazy.

Katie says the day went by quick.

I felt it did.

Three events and it went by really quick.

He also says a lot of non-Americans in

the challengers this year.

I've noticed that a little bit.

But it is called the World Fitness

Project.

And I think it's okay to be an

international event and competition.

Two of the three events are overseas.

I think that's a big part of it.

Once, once you had London,

what it was supposed to be Mexico.

Right.

And then they moved to London,

but like you already knew it was gonna

be international.

And so I feel like some Americans kind

of were like, I'm,

I'm not messing with that.

It's too much travel.

And so the Europeans jump right in.

But it's not like these,

these people are not good.

Oh, they're incredible.

Yeah.

Like those Kriber girls are kicking ass.

Yep.

All of them.

And, uh,

they're just all killing it on dress over

getting the do she deserves.

She's one of the fittest women that's been

around and her,

her game just doesn't play in the game

season because she has a whole here.

She's in third place for the weekend.

She's in the top five for the season.

And when you have this many events for

the season total,

you are getting a more complete test than

you are during the game season.

I agree.

Every time I watch Soul Bear take the

floor, I'm in awe of her.

She's so fit.

I enjoy watching her.

And she usually has, she always, I mean,

she has those home runs.

We know she's incredible on her hands,

but...

The sandbag workout crushed it.

She crushed it.

And if you're looking at international

people that are underrated,

Emma Tall is a savage.

There were workouts that before they even

started,

you knew Emma Tall was going to go.

Like that was her event.

I don't know if I think Emma Tall

is underrated.

I think the problem is she's been injured

for two or three years.

Her shoulder's been,

she's had issues that rolled the last two

years.

I don't think she's underrated.

I just think she's been injured.

Just because Bruce says it doesn't make it

through.

Thanks for agreeing.

I do think she's underrated.

She didn't say she's underrated.

She said that she's had injuries.

You guys didn't think that we were

fighting enough last night.

Today has been awful.

Thank you, Vicki.

Yeah.

Scott's been in a mood.

He didn't get enough food today.

Jamie will not,

will not relent on any argument.

So let's point out, in the last event,

Jamie swore lane five was a sticky lane.

It was sticky.

It was not.

The women proved it wasn't.

Well, the women, they dropped the weight.

So it was less of a sled workout.

Oh, my Lord.

See,

this is what I deal with all the

time.

No, you are not invited into this podcast,

Miss Veronica.

No.

This is what, listen,

I am tired of people making excuses as

to why they didn't do well.

It wasn't a sticky lane.

People in that lane had completely poor

mechanics.

There was plenty of poor mechanics out

there.

I just think it took a little bit

more out of the people in that lane.

They all were holding the posts up high.

None of them were putting their shoulders

into it and pushing down on the sled

like everybody.

And it wasn't just lane five.

People were destroyed in all the lanes at

different times.

Oh, good Lord.

Let's make more excuses.

Lanes will always be a problem.

Hold on.

I do think this was probably the most

similar.

This was probably the best sled ever.

situation we've had this is the practice

field for an nfl franchise you think

they're going to have inconsistencies on

their turf the turf they practice on the

turf that their million dollar players

could get injured on you think they're

going to allow it to be inconsistent okay

i don't even know how they have if

that's their turf or how they set up

this these rubber mats to turf

But I agree that technique of sled was

incredibly important because the men,

a lot of the men were just driving

it top down and sticking it right into

the floor.

I, I just,

I'm in all my years of doing this

and covering this sport.

I'm just sick of everybody having an

excuse and everybody coming up with a

conspiracy theory.

The test is in front of you go

out and just complete the test.

Other people in lane five,

which one of them was Carolyn, I believe.

Yeah.

Carolyn was just,

who had a great success in that lane.

Laura Horvat was in that lane.

He wasn't that way.

Yeah, but he always dies.

He always implodes.

So there it is.

I said that it has been this way

all day.

We saw Jared Rabiel at the restaurant.

I did not.

So wrong.

Oh, my God.

See, this is what I'm talking about.

I did not.

We argued for ten minutes before we

realized she wasn't looking at the same

person I was.

I saw him.

Holy shit.

Anyway, yes, I did give a side eye.

I've been giving several side eyes today.

Carolyn had no issues in lane five.

I know the men's seat,

that lane looks so slow,

but mine felt fine.

There you go.

They did lower the weight for the women.

They lowered the weight.

So that it would be less of a

sled workout.

It was definitely a sled workout for the

men.

It was a sled workout for the women.

Same sled, KDL, same sled,

different weight.

Yeah, they just, like,

they took a plate off from what was

supposed to be on there.

They decided to lower that.

Vicky says she thinks we're an old,

bitter, married couple from a past life.

Ronica has the same problem,

and she's here with us.

Just saying.

If it's the Colts turf,

do they care about the sled push

consistency on their turf?

I'm sure the offensive lineman do.

We all know who wears the pants in

that dynamic, Vicky.

I don't need this kind of abuse.

Um, so the run happened today.

It started off with Roman cramping after

gaining a huge lead.

And was it necessary to go that hard?

Be that far out front.

And then he.

Withdrew from the competition saying that

it was,

he cramped and it was a sign that

his body needed rest because he cramped

yesterday on the other side,

correct today on this side.

And he said that, uh, that was it.

His body was telling him he needs rest.

Yeah.

So he decided to call it a weekend.

We then went in then on the women's

side, um, Amanda jobs.

Crushed it.

Crushed the run.

Finished sub-forty,

which was faster than most of the men.

And an incredible time.

Who took second in that?

I don't remember.

I feel like Lydia was third and Ella

was fourth.

Who was second?

And then Amy was fifth?

Yeah.

I don't know.

Oh, well.

CrossFit says, eat bananas,

monkey never cramp.

Remember that statement?

Yes.

Yeah.

Who's the other good runner?

I don't know.

Yeah, who's that one?

I'll pull it up here.

So the run...

Was this one four, right?

No, three.

Oh, was it Sydney?

It was Sydney.

Yeah, that's right.

Inga Lofts took third.

Then Lydia Fish, then Ella, then Amy.

And then on the men's side,

Sprague passed Roman,

but he didn't even win.

It was a yellow hosta.

Chris Ibarra took second,

which catapulted him way up in all

standings.

Luka Djokic took third,

Colin Bosshard fourth,

and then James Sprague fifth.

Noah Wilson's having a pretty doggone good

weekend.

I think that sled one got him a

little bit.

But, yeah, he's doing great.

Lydia is awesome, top ten.

Yeah,

I saw her dad on the way out

of the venue tonight.

They gave me a Lydia fish kazoo.

So now I have the towel, the kazoo,

and the clapper.

Jealous.

And I yelled, go Lydia and go bears.

And they were very appreciative of that.

Is the Amy versus Laura battle overhyped?

I think it's going to play out,

I think, when they get to the finals.

Yeah.

But I think Amital is going to be

in that mix pretty strongly.

Yeah.

And Andrea Stolberg has a shot.

She's right there with Laura.

She's actually ahead of Laura.

She is ahead of Laura for the weekend

so far.

Is Andrea a good swimmer?

I don't find out in the morning.

Yeah.

I don't, yeah.

I don't know.

I mean, Laura will,

she'll get her on the snake squad.

Snatching Laurel will win that battle of

the weekend come tomorrow.

Uh, then we had the bench press.

Colton is just a straight up strong,

savage dude.

And someone asked earlier if anybody beat

Colton's opening weight.

And I,

if what was called the opening weight,

three, six, three, six, five.

Yeah.

Somebody got three, six, seven,

I think right around there.

I think somebody hit,

cuz I remember thinking it was like four,

thirty or forty pounds.

That was four.

It was four.

Yeah.

Uh, three, seven, three, seven, six,

and then three, six, five, four Miko,

little York, little York.

So yeah, three people,

including Colton himself matched, uh,

his opening weight.

Um, so yeah,

he Colton came out and killed it and

he needed to,

and he needed to kill the last one.

Mm-hmm

And he did.

So back to back,

back to back wins for him.

On the women's side, it was Dana Peran,

which the floor announcer kept saying Dana

Peran.

Akira Milligan.

But she took first,

Amanda Fisher took second, I believe.

Kolstad may have stuck in there for a

second.

I can't remember.

I'm sure you're right because you always

are.

Kolstad did.

Amanda Fisher at .

Hannah Black at two-thirty.

And then Emma Tall tied with Kirstensen at

two-twenty-seven and a half.

And Ariel with two-twenty-five.

She tried heavier and missed.

Yeah,

she tried two-twenty-seven and then went

down to the two-twenty-five.

Which the two-twenty-seven wouldn't matter

because it's two-twenty-seven point five

on that other one.

Unless that's what those are out there.

I don't know.

Uh, Bruce says, uh,

the broadcast commentators are horrible.

You know how you fix that Bruce?

You show up at the event and support

the event.

Although we can hear the names and yeah,

that gets you're like, dude, get it right.

Yeah.

It, uh, it's great at the venue.

Do the floor,

the floor announcers flawless.

No.

But you get to be your own camera

shot.

You get to be your own angle.

You get to figure out where you want

to look at all times.

And they do a great job highlighting the

floor.

Last year,

I heard bitches about the lighting.

It is awesome in person.

Yeah, I like the lighting.

I don't think that it could be done

any better.

It appears that Rogue is very similar.

where they bring in their own lighting

rig.

But by bringing in your own lighting rig,

you're bringing the lights closer to the

floor and it's not like washed out and

drab.

It's actually like vibrant on the floor in

person.

It was definitely busier today.

Um,

With that Heart of America competition

going on, that brings in people,

letting the spectators run that run.

I mean,

the parking lot was way more packed.

I felt like the stands had far more

people in them.

And just more people in general in that

center, the second floor area.

I think it was much more attended today.

It's not as much as it needs to

be because this is a great event.

It really is a very enjoyable,

awesome event to be at.

I've been to so many different ones.

I would rank it above water Palooza.

I would rank it.

Honestly,

this has been more enjoyable than the

games for me this year.

I enjoyed the game and that, and that's,

I'm not trying to dog on the games.

I enjoyed the games.

This has been just really enjoyable.

Yeah, other than the seats at the games,

because those are a little more comfy to

sit in.

Ah, yes.

I will give you that.

Yeah, these are bleachers.

We need to bring, like,

bleacher seats so that you have a little

comfort.

Or just stand up and stand a long

thing.

But I hate when the railings get packed

with standing,

so I would prefer to sit down and

get out of the way.

But, yeah,

the seats can be more comfortable.

Other than that.

Yeah.

But you know,

what a Palooza's benches too.

Yeah.

And the last year I was at water

Palooza,

half the fans didn't even get in to

see the elite events because you couldn't

fit there just was, um, with that comment,

Scott won't get.

whatever for next year's games.

I think credentials, creds.

Oh, creds, yeah.

That's totally what she, yeah.

No, we're not bashing the games.

I said that out loud.

I'm not bashing the games.

As a media member.

Yes.

For sure.

Way less hoops to jump through.

Nice accommodations to keep your stuff

away from every... Like, so it's safe.

Like,

we had that stolen camera equipment at

semifinals out in Carson the one year.

Like, you don't have to worry about that.

We're away from everybody where that

can...

And there's security not letting people up

the stairs.

Yep.

So...

It's really a nice event, nice facility,

and they treat the athletes super well.

We have snacks, free PT and massage too.

Lots of space for warm-up, et cetera.

They really are treating the athletes well

from what I can see over there.

I'm going to spend some time in the

athlete lounge tomorrow just talking to

people.

We haven't done that as much because the

actual floor has been so fun to watch.

So then we finished up with

the magical lane five and ten or nine

or whatever it was that screwed everybody

over.

Fifty toes to bar,

the twenty-five sandbag snatches.

Squats.

Squats, sorry.

Into the sled push.

What I found amazing was people doing

sandbag squats in cleats.

Yes.

And I think it was BKG that said

when he watched the first couple of heats,

he realized for the men,

this became a sled push workout instead of

a sandbag squat.

And so the cleats were to help him

with the sled and just get through the

other two.

So it was wild seeing people squat in

cleats.

It was very strange.

But then you have like Laura and runners

and it was wild watching somebody

squatting sandbags, squatting runners.

When you saw people slipping,

when they were pushing the amount of

energy that they lost with that slip.

And some of them were slipping so much.

Yeah.

I mean,

tennis shoes were not meant to be dug

in on turf.

Right.

They just weren't, um,

But BKG started a trend,

and then you saw cleats everywhere.

Now,

the big question is that Jamie and I

argued about, again, something else,

is are turf shoes cleats?

She says no.

I say yes.

I mean,

actual cleats with the actual nubs on them

that people are standing on,

those are cleats.

Turf shoes are just turf shoes.

Thanks, guys.

Listen, if they're not nanos,

they're cleats.

See what I have to deal with?

It just argues weird stuff.

Thank you.

Thank you.

Whatever.

They just want you to flex.

If you are wearing turf shoes,

then they have nubs on the bottom and

they are not what you would normally work

out in.

Jay Burch, thank you.

Thanks, Carolyn.

I'm not saying they're identical.

I'm saying it's the same thing in this

environment.

I could squat in turf shoes far easier

than in pleats.

Nobody had metal nubs.

They were plastic nubs.

Both the cleats and the turf were plastic

nubs.

I don't think they let metal cleats on

this artificial turf.

Yeah, I don't think so either.

Nobody had golf shoes.

They looked like soccer cleats for the

most part.

Yes.

If they were going cleats.

And a lot of them were Adidas athletes.

that went to them initially.

Yeah.

And they,

and Adidas is big in the soccer world,

so.

Yeah,

that's what Sidney Wells was wearing,

the Adidas cleats.

And some of them looked really sharp.

Yeah.

Like the colorways on them were awesome.

Uh-huh.

Yeah.

Nobody's arguing the grip Jay Birch.

We all agree that either turf shoes or

cleats.

Oh yeah.

Oh yeah.

On that turf.

Um, it,

we just Jamie and I have to fight

about something every event.

And so we fought about lane five and

lane nine,

and we fought about turf shoes versus

cleats.

Um, so with that, the winner was Colton.

on the men's side and,

and then it got wild.

It was so fun to watch because the

one thing WFP does very,

very well is they put the time to

beat up on the jumbotron.

And then you have the,

the F one leaderboard down and the running

clock.

So you can like,

are they going to beat the time?

Are they not going to beat the time?

And so many of the times to beat

were from the early heats.

Right.

So you had this fun aspect of,

on every heat like are they going to

pull it off and yeah and the other

events you're always like waiting for the

announcer to say it because you're like

shoot what was that time you're you're

trying to remember but you're usually off

by a few seconds so seeing it up

there while the event's going on is great

so on the women's side emmental crushed

We didn't think anybody was going to be

like Andrea's time.

I know.

And then Emma Tall just smoked it by

a good ten seconds.

Ota Lund, I can never say her name.

Yeah, and then Olivia Kerstetter,

Laura Horvath, Var Thurman-Mo,

and Amy Kringle.

On the men's side,

I hate that it resets back to everything.

Put her head up.

Colton won.

Close.

We thought he was going to win handily,

but James only two seconds off.

Wow.

Yonikoski was third.

I'll tell you a funny story about that

in a second.

Yelahosta with a fourth after his win in

the morning.

He really needed that after day one.

Enola Kai took sixth, fifth, fifth,

and Chandler Smith with a bad hamstring.

Well, and Yonikoski.

And Yona.

Yeah.

Which they didn't like, they,

they ran together in the run Chandler,

Sam Cornway and Yona just sort of jogged

the run together.

So I don't know,

maybe they had fresher legs than some of

the other athletes.

That it was a devastating workout.

Like the carnage on the floor after this

event was epic.

And there was a point where I'd looked

at Jamie and I said,

if you ask the athletes that did the

games and have done this weekend so far,

which was harder,

I am betting you that they say this

weekend was harder.

Yeah.

I think,

I think they're going to be sore and

yeah, just more beat up from this weekend.

Personally.

I don't think that's a bad thing.

I know there's been a ton to talk

about the injuries.

I think a lot,

I think they knew what they were up

for.

The workouts were released early,

especially the combine very early.

Like people knew what to be training for.

Um,

and to be fair and like everyone's saying

like these games, athletes are shit.

Like it's too close to the games.

Half of these ones that are hurt are

not games athletes.

Yeah.

I mean, yes.

Roman pulled out, Pat got hurt.

But you have plenty that were not at

the games.

KDL, Colton wasn't in the bad lane.

No, yeah.

Colton was in six, I think.

Will released the combine ten weeks before

the event.

He released all the workouts a month

before the event,

which is their normal mode of operation.

Mm-hmm.

Because he wants to give the athletes time

to prepare.

And this is what I'll say.

It's sports.

Injuries happen in every sport you watch.

You watch a tennis match, people withdraw.

You watch baseball on a weekend,

you're going to have two, three,

four injuries.

You watch an NFL weekend and the injury

lists are through the roof.

It's sports.

These athletes make the choice to go out

there, put themselves on the line,

four points to get to these finals.

If they thought they were too banged up

from the games to do it,

they had the choice not to.

I mean,

you have the choice to hop off that

box or not.

You guys, as fans,

it's all the same people who bitch about

Dave programming the step down.

Why don't they just let them choose what

they want to do?

If they want to jump down,

they should be able to jump down.

And they were given the choice to jump

down yesterday.

Uh, Vicki says, uh,

Colton would have won by a minute if

he didn't slip so much up with the

sled that takes so much out of you,

but Colton wasn't the only one that

slipped.

You can't just,

you can't take him out of it in

solitude and say only if he didn't slip,

there were so many people slipping.

Shannon says there seems to be a lot

more than normal and severe ones.

There's a hundred athletes here.

A hundred.

That's more than you see at the games.

It is the densest group of athletes in

a competition.

It is brutal.

I'm not going to lie.

It's brutal,

but all the athletes have the choice.

Yep.

There's more money available here.

Like I just think more people are willing

to risk it.

This is what I'll say.

Everybody bitched about the masters and

the age group athletes not getting

something that felt games like.

And I heard people after the games say,

yeah, there were twenty events,

but my body didn't really feel like there

were twenty events.

Well, I'm betting you after today,

people are saying it feels like a games

weekend.

And isn't that what we all want?

Isn't this the thing we've been asking for

the intensity, the, and it's fun to watch.

It makes it so fun to watch.

Yeah.

You guys heard me say after the games,

I just wanted more carnage.

So I'm getting what I wanted.

Like I am loving this.

I it's not just a three minute,

like who can go execute perfectly and not

have a slip up.

Like it's who's,

who truly is willing to hurt the most

and who's fitter to get through these

longer workouts.

Like you had twenty minutes yesterday and

thirteen of them today.

And most people used up every second of

it.

Shana says,

I hope they're getting good medical

support at the venue.

Medical team is on the floor.

Bam.

Yeah.

Um,

the only thing I saw and that medical

couldn't have been there any faster was

Quinn's torn pack.

When his pector,

the judge on the one side was not

capable of lifting her side of the way.

Yeah.

Because he like completely just laid

there.

Like he couldn't.

So like she needed, and you're not,

you're not thinking that that's going to

happen.

You're thinking they're going to fail and

you need to help assist it up.

But even in that case,

there was a backup spotter there within

five seconds.

Yes.

Within five seconds.

And that's the only thing where I saw

maybe a slight delay in medical attention.

Yes, I agree, CrossFit.

We used to see carnage at regionals,

not just injury, but people in heaps.

This has this.

I completely agree.

That's what I feel like this is bringing

back.

How many people have torn Paxil in the

ring?

Exactly.

At regionals.

And I don't know if people are just

bitching because it's WFP and they want to

bitch about it.

Or if I, that's what I,

that's what I can't figure out.

I don't want to see people get hurt.

Don't get me wrong.

Like I'm, I'm gutted for Pat.

I'm gutted for Quinn.

I've been rooting for him.

Um,

But athletes make choices on those.

Six inch box jumps.

How many people rebounded?

Exactly.

They made that choice.

You don't have to do that.

Yup.

When you people been asking for that,

you are competing for the points.

You want people to not compete for the

points?

Like it just is.

Yeah.

Um, but like, honestly.

Pat went down,

there were five medical people on him.

I know.

And they had to sled off of him

within five to ten seconds.

Yeah.

I mean,

Julie Fouché tore a Achilles tendon at

regionals.

Rogue had two people,

or in the last two years,

three people tear an Achilles.

It's...

I think people just look at WFP and

they're looking for something to complain

about.

Yes.

I mean, and it's anything.

It's not just WFP, but yes,

we're seeing it because that's what we're

talking about right now.

So we're just seeing more bitching.

But yes, on stream, on the internet,

really anywhere, people,

it's always the complainers that are the

loudest.

Uh, I'm so old school.

I was at the original where Talena

Fortunato finished the hundreds workout

first.

I'm back there with you, buddy.

Um,

don't tell me how to compete Bill

Grundler.

Yeah.

Yeah, everybody's going to,

they're going to find something to bitch

about.

And I'll say this.

Last year was,

did I bitch about the WFP?

Yeah, we did.

Yes, we did.

But they have taken a lot of constructive

criticism and made changes for the good.

Yep.

Because I complained about the point

system.

I didn't like that the challengers weren't

doing the same workout.

I didn't like that it was like,

I feel like they've listened to a lot

of the critiquing.

Yeah,

you just like it because they went with

the point system you suggested.

And you're right, you're right.

Bill Leahy was making me nervous with his

bouncy rebound he went right back to the

thing that I know and Jamie's rooting for

Bill because he didn't do tour stop one

and he is right on the cut line

to go to the finals like right on

the cut line I mean he's doing pretty

much everything he needs to do here

Yeah.

We'll see how he swims.

I don't know how he is as a

swimmer either.

I don't know.

Uh,

Forty-eight minutes in and Scott finally

got one right.

What?

They definitely listened to feedback.

I agree, Mickey.

They did.

I am telling you, if you want,

if you want to go to a quality

event that is very entertaining and

Does the most for the spectators that are

there, this is your event?

Oh, yeah.

That's what I was telling Scott.

It's hard for me to go to the

games or something and be gone for three,

five days, whatever it is,

and get thrown off my routine.

And here, there's a –

Like the pro,

the way the day is set up,

there's time for you to go do one

of these activations, spectator workouts,

which I think most people that are diehard

fans that come to these type of events

want to still get a workout in.

And it's like this event is just made

for you as a spectator.

So yesterday you and Ronica did one of

the workouts.

Yep.

HWPO or no?

We did the Mayhem one.

The Mayhem one.

Bailey and Tyler Crispo.

So yeah,

they they're bringing in former CrossFit

athletes to lead these, uh,

Bailey rail and Chris Bailey, Christopher,

uh, and Tyler Taylor, Tyler, Christopher.

Yeah.

It's late guys.

Um, you guys did that yesterday,

today you ran the ten K yep.

And then tomorrow you are signed up for

an event,

but tomorrow they have one with FISA

coffee.

They have one with, um, supposedly page,

but she's competing.

So it's probably just going to be Bailey.

I think it's broken fee.

Brooke Wells, I think is doing it.

Not like,

I think they took page off there.

I think it's broken, broken.

And then the other one is Bailey again,

the born, born to,

or call to be is what she calls

her brand.

Okay.

Yeah.

So like,

you're going to get a workout in every

day while you're here.

And in the, in the main area, they,

like we said yesterday,

they have cornhole,

they have football tosses with nets to

throw into.

They have, um,

The lawn pong, like a big beer pong.

Yes.

Um, so giant rental cup, trash,

bad basket looking type things, but yeah.

Yeah.

Take my third seat.

That's what I need to do.

Here's the problem.

Don't be like me.

I forgot to pack.

I brought, don't worry.

I got you.

I brought it.

Okay.

Uh,

but I'll tell you what the bed in

this Airbnb is better than my bed at

home.

Yeah, they have coffee beds.

It's... To get to the media area,

you have to walk the whole way around

the venue.

But that's fine.

I don't mind the exercise.

But it does...

I'm getting in a lot of steps.

Oh, yeah.

Because I...

I got a couple cups of coffee this

morning.

Because Jamie made shitty coffee this

morning.

But she says it is shitty.

I should have just dumped it.

And then we get back tonight and she

goes,

you didn't have any of the coffee this

morning.

Well, you told me it's shitty.

Why would I drink the shitty coffee?

Um, but yeah, we're, uh, it's, it's great.

It's just, it's so easy to park.

It's so easy to get in.

Um,

this complex has parking right outside the

venue.

We said yesterday it's twenty five bucks

for the weekend to park.

It's ninety nine dollars for a ticket to

get in for the whole weekend.

Way cheaper than the games.

Hell, that's cheaper than some semifinals.

Yep.

There's actually a coffee place here that

listens to the show.

Yeah, it's excellent.

It's called Uplift Coffee.

If you're if you see them,

it's really good coffee.

When you're right, you're right.

As rare as it is, Scott.

I hate you all.

It is cheaper than a day of the

games.

You are correct, KDL.

It is.

And honestly, I'm having a blast.

And actually,

the athletes are more accessible.

For sure.

Like, way more accessible.

In fact,

they WFP had trading cards made and they

had special ones made like refractors.

And if you didn't trade cards as a

kid,

that's what are like the holographic kind

of thing.

They hid them throughout the venue.

And if you found one, it was autographed.

Jamie found one.

I saw it.

I pointed it out to her.

I pointed it.

You didn't even know what it was.

Like, what is this?

And I didn't realize that they had hidden

cards.

Because I didn't want to touch it.

Like, I didn't know what was going on.

Yeah.

They put on Instagram that they had hid

them throughout the venue.

Yeah.

Then you told me.

So she got a signed Sidney McAlishan card.

Yep.

And Sidney's looking good.

She is looking good.

She crushed that sled.

Yeah.

She made that sled her bitch.

She was...

The only one who, I mean,

she was like able to run with it

and she did like, yeah,

she moved that sled so well.

Arrow ran with it for a brief amount

of time and then three seconds and two

to run with it for two steps and

then stopped.

And I'm thinking, dude,

it's harder to start over again than to

just push through and keep.

Yeah.

Uh, like old was, uh,

before it became huge,

you could approach all the athletes and

actually get into the venues.

It's all that.

Yeah.

When I left today,

Amy Kringle was right in front of me.

She got swarmed by little girls and it

was the cutest thing ever.

And she was so nice to them and.

Talked to them, gave them high fives,

the whole bit.

It's just a really cool venue,

really cool atmosphere, great vibes.

I know I sound like I'm being paid

by them to say this stuff.

But I told Patrick and I told Will

that if I see something I don't like,

I'm going to say something.

So here are the couple of things that

I don't like.

Okay.

The media pit they're allowing spectators

in.

Yeah.

The people they're trying to get content

that makes it extremely difficult.

Yes.

There are still way too many media members

on the floor.

Yes.

Do we really need eight crotch shots of

every bench press?

Yes.

When people are bench pressing,

don't hold the camera low and get the

upshot.

It is so weird to me that I

feel like you were.

I know.

I feel like I have to look away

until they get it up,

get the camera settled on the right spot.

I'm like, what are we watching?

And I like if you looked at all

the videos I took,

there's at least one or two media members

walking through the shot.

Yes.

Everyone.

Yes.

Yeah, I agree.

That is frustrating.

And I do have an understanding that

they're trying to put out content

themselves and their people should have

prime real estate for that.

But camera technology is so good now and

the lighting is so good in that place

that if you have a good lens and

a good camera,

you are going to get good content.

And you don't have to be

he's crotch.

I agree.

That would be my complaint too.

They need to have corded off media area,

pit area or like a second barricade wall

that we're in.

I don't know.

If they want spectators along the

barricade wall,

I don't know how they need to do

that.

Katie Elson,

wasn't the guy who was spotting Colton

like the CEO of WFP?

I don't know if he's CEO.

He's president of WFP.

But it was him, probably.

He was the backup spotter and would give

liftoffs so people could stand in

And he's a pretty strong dude.

Um, here's a quick, a funny question.

It just pops in my head.

I hate when getting a lift off from

a benching.

I don't usually like liftoffs either.

I want to control where I put it

into my path and not have somebody else

guiding me.

Yeah.

And I couldn't believe how many of the

athletes got a lift off.

Um,

I wasn't sure if possibly that was

because,

because I don't think they were allowed to

touch the J cups,

the straps or the J cups.

So I don't know if like it was

maybe set low to accommodate, like,

you know, I mean,

you gotta have it set the same as

it would be for Cole and ask for

James Craig.

So I can see why,

if that's the case,

James might want to lift off.

Like if it's way down here for James,

cause it's set one height.

I can see why some people might want

to lift off.

I did see them change the straps a

couple of times.

I did.

I did see some complaints about the

straight straps and some movement,

but I never saw the Jacobs get moved.

I, and then I did see,

and this is the other bad thing,

but I think it's a more,

a sign that we are tapped out on

judges.

Yeah.

We are just running out of good judges

with this much of a season.

And you can say that about the NFL

and everybody bitches about the referees.

Everybody bitches about the umpires in

baseball.

Everybody bitches about the chair ump in

tennis.

Like it just,

we're running out of good judges.

There were some inconsistencies on the

bench.

In my world,

you have to extend the bench completely to

the top, then rack it.

A good rep isn't throwing it into the

Jacob.

I like to throw it into the Jacob.

Really?

I don't know.

Now you're arguing with me on that

standard.

No, I agree.

It needs to be locked out before you

put it backwards.

Larry Young is a big fat liar.

I don't bench heavy enough to lift off.

I couldn't even lift off, Larry, your bar.

If you asked for one,

I'd have to say, sorry,

you're on your own, dude.

Jacob, I'm a B cup.

Yeah, so that standard was weird.

The sled standard at the turnaround seemed

to be inconsistent.

Some people were forced to push the sled

completely over the line before turning.

Others were allowed to turn it and let

the turn be what got it over the

line.

Correct.

Only a few, but yes.

It seemed to be more to the second

for the women and allowed.

On the men, it was really inconsistent.

Yes.

Um, and squat depth.

Yeah.

On those sandbag squads.

But I'll tell you this,

Kristen Holta must force squat depth at

CrossFit Oslo because all the Kriger girls

were well below parallel.

The Kriger girls move well in pretty much

everything that I see them do.

And that makes it like when they win

events or when they do great in events,

you're like, well,

that's even more impressive because you

know, they are meeting all the standards.

Um, what is your CrossFit total, Larry?

It's over nine thousand.

He just picks up a Jeep,

does all three moves.

Um,

What else do we want to say?

I don't know.

I'm excited to see some swimming tomorrow.

That workout's going to be gnarly.

And I think legs are going to be

smoked.

So I'm worried about,

we talked about this,

kicking in the water.

But you're biking too, so you're like,

ugh, gross.

That workout's going to be devastating.

And then standing up those heavy snatches

later.

Ooh.

Ooh.

Yeah, this is going to be...

This is a painful weekend.

It is painful.

I'm excited to ask how people's lives are

tomorrow.

But I think it's odd.

That's what makes it fun to watch.

So, any Xenon talk at WFP?

It is too busy.

We are too busy.

That's my other complaint.

It is very loud.

The music is...

too loud it needs to come down at

certain points and like when there's it's

like a i get it during the event

yeah but in between the yes they could

just turn it down a little bit yeah

so you so people can like turn and

talk to each other about what they just

saw yes the it's like a who wants

to be a millionaire ddd like that intro

that like they're playing

That's when, like,

that needs to come down just a tad

in volume.

It's too loud.

I agree, Jabers.

That's all comps.

The DJ needs to be better about bringing

it.

Like,

that's why I probably will never go to

Waterpalooza again is my head can't take

that many days of nonstop techno.

Yeah,

I just want to be able to talk

about the event to people.

And, like,

you can't ever hear what I'm saying.

And it's like...

I just need, like,

thirty seconds of just slightly down.

I don't mind the dramatic music during the

walkout.

That, you know,

old person Jamie here can't handle it,

but I think that's okay.

Because I'm not really talking about the

walkout.

No, it's not the walkout,

because that's actually fine,

because they're saying their names and

stuff.

It's the last thirty seconds before the

timer goes off.

There's, like, this little, like,

I don't know.

Derek Summers.

Did I miss it, Scott?

Earlier you said you had a funny story

revealing.

It's Yonikoski.

So the floor announcers are from all over

the world as well.

They are representative of the entire

world.

And when Yonikoski was on the floor,

whenever they wanted you to get hype,

they would yell, let's get loud,

Grant Park.

Right.

Yeah.

Or come on,

Grant Park or something like that.

I swore to God they called Yonikoski

Grandpa.

I thought they were saying, come on,

Grandpa.

And I was like, that is so rude.

I cannot believe they're calling Yonikoski

Grandpa.

He's not even the oldest person out here.

And then I found out that it was

just his accent and he was saying Grant

Park.

So, yeah.

So if you see Yonikowski,

call him Grandpa.

That's going to be his new nickname.

And that's probably another reason we're

not getting the correct pronunciations of

all the athletes.

But if that's my job,

if I'm Claire Bays for a day,

What a glorious day that would be first

and foremost.

And second,

I'm sure that I would do my research

and find the phonetic spellings of these

people.

So I knew how to pronounce it because

I would be mortified if I was

mispronouncing.

Because I do it all the time on

here.

I know.

And you know,

Mispronounce a name.

Jamie, buy Scott a red curly wig.

You're going to be Claire Bays for a

day.

Because I'd have to run a mile.

Yeah.

Katie Elf,

if I was Claire Bays for a day,

my mental health would skyrocket.

There you go.

Keep singing,

maybe they will throw some fruit for

dessert.

American tale.

Oh, that's going on in school.

I do not know what that is.

They are all recorded, aren't they?

The intros are not recorded, Claire.

No, it's not.

So, yeah, last year, that's how it was.

Or maybe even in London.

I think they let the athletes like say

their name and they're in the United

States or Miami or whatever.

They got to say they're like city or

country.

That's not how they're doing it this year.

The there's a floor announcer saying their

name as they walk out.

The floor north floor announcer is

bringing them all out one by one.

Yep.

And I,

and Vicki texted me today and said that

she,

she's done with the smoke and the intro

because it takes too long.

I think it's one of the coolest things

when you're here.

Yeah.

Um, uh, KDL start the mile.

Yeah,

Five-O was one of the rats who fled

communism.

Okay.

Yeah, those were a different time.

The Iron Curtain still existed.

And we needed cartoon therapy.

All right.

Oh, yeah.

I knew they weren't when announced.

I just tonight the athlete said their name

into a mic somewhere that the media had

access to.

I don't know if they did that.

If they did, if they did that,

which I've heard that is how they normally

do it.

Yeah.

The four announcers here have not

listened.

Yeah,

I know that I've seen them do that

at camps.

Like I've seen them do that at the

games,

have them say their name so that they

can listen to the pronunciation.

No clue if they did that here.

That seems like the smart play.

That's how you should do things so that

you can hear it.

Live, it might be cool.

On the stream, it's just slow.

Each one feels like sixty seconds.

I know it's not,

but it feels that way every single event.

We have to remember how many hamstring

injuries there are and some of the people

it takes a while to get from that

side of the floor to the other side

of the floor.

I was worried about

I don't know who it was.

Sammy.

I don't know who I was worried about

him even making it to the star man.

I'm like, I don't think he's making it.

Yeah.

Yeah.

It's bad,

which it didn't matter because he didn't

do it.

But I'm telling you, Vicki, it's only.

Ten seconds between each name called.

Yeah.

It's fairly quick.

So Vicki was going to tell you to

put my skivvies in the freezer.

Well,

as cold as this house is right now,

this is the weirdest thing in this Airbnb.

During the day, it is cold in here.

Freezing.

Then at night when you want it to

be cold,

all of a sudden the heat goes on.

I don't know if the heat came on,

but it definitely felt.

It was definitely.

I mean,

we all woke up and we're like,

I got hot last night, which was weird.

And then we're sitting here this morning

having our morning beverage,

not the shitty coffee.

And I look out the back door and

there's a wolf.

There was a real live wolf out the

back door.

It was, I was shocked.

And he looked hungry.

He did look hungry.

He was scavenging back there.

Yeah,

I sleep at a unreasonably cold

temperature.

level.

Ed,

it was sixty-eight when we went to bed.

It was seventy when we woke up.

We don't know what happened.

No, not a woof.

A, like, woof.

W-O-L-V-E.

Oh, wolves?

There was multiple?

I didn't put an S at the end.

Yeah, but it's O-L-F.

If it's a wolf.

Okay.

Well, I guess now...

I said a wolf.

Yeah.

Love that y'all are there having fun.

It's been so cool to watch Carolyn smash

it.

She's crushing it.

Oh my gosh.

We were yelling so loud for her to

finish that last workout.

And she did it with one second to

go.

Need you on my back too, Vicky.

Vicky.

I realize now that I did not spell

it correctly.

It is a wolf.

And if there are multiple, it is wolves.

I get it.

I'm not dumb.

I'm just tired.

I'm tired of fighting.

This is Tessa.

But it's the last thing I would say

is I've run into so many listeners here.

It has been so cool to get to

chat with people.

I'm still surprised by it when people

recognize who I am,

but it makes me feel warm inside every

time someone does.

And so if you ever see me out,

please, please,

please run over and say hi,

because it really does make my day.

Then just don't fight Jamie.

She's always right.

In her mind, she definitely is.

Maybe putting WFP on my list of comps

to Xena.

It is...

This is what it's like all the parts.

It's not perfect.

I'm not going to say it's perfect.

They have a desk show that you can

go watch.

They have like beanbags and chairs where

you can sit and watch the show.

They have bleachers that make sense.

They have the lighting to is right on

the floor.

There's no distractions there.

It feels like a big comp.

They make you feel special when the app

that smoke stuff at the beginning makes

every athlete feel like they are special.

And when you feel like you're special,

you're going to go out there and fight

like hell.

And maybe that's why we're seeing the

injuries because they feel awesome and

they want to go out and do the,

do their best.

Ariel's interview today was hilarious.

When she talked about she went to the

basketball game last night and she made

the best.

She said because she did the combine

yesterday, she felt like an athlete.

So that's why she made the shot.

Like none of her other accomplishments

have made her feel like an athlete over

the years.

Just doing the combine.

Now she's an athlete.

Yeah.

She said she was an athlete.

Now she knows how to walk in.

Yeah.

It was so good.

I think Katrin is awesome as a

commentator.

I think she should be in the booth

as much as possible.

And I'll leave it at that.

It sucks to get injured when you don't

feel as awesome as an athlete.

And I know two people that that happened

to at the CrossFit Games who didn't feel

special when they got hurt.

Yeah.

And they're both Masters athletes and one

sitting beside me.

Yep.

When are they coming to the Pacific

Northwest?

I'll ask.

Hopefully never.

I love it here.

Me too.

It was an easy drive.

Yeah.

But I would travel to one of these.

Just not California.

Yeah.

Or Miami.

Those two are expensive.

Yep.

Other comps have those covered,

so let's stay out of there.

Seth and Annie Bicker.

I think Seth is great to bring out

that stuff.

Uh-huh.

Um, I really like Seth a lot.

Jamie is too stubborn to get hurt until

you run into a street sign.

That's why I get hurt.

Eugene here.

Dolly loved us.

Seth is very good.

Seth is so knowledgeable and he's been

around since the beginning of all this

craziness.

And so he brings a really,

a wealth of, of.

knowledge and experience.

That's what the board I was looking for.

So, all right, guys,

we're going to hit the hay.

I got to get up for a swimming

event tomorrow morning.

Yes.

I love to watch swimming and we'll see

who,

who doesn't cramp kicking in that water.

Wait, they're bananas tomorrow.

That's what we're going to see.

Yeah.

It didn't help Roman.

So I don't know.

Yeah.

All I had tonight was fish.

I had all the fish.

All the fish.

I had fish too.

Two nights in a row.

Unlike me, I usually get steak or burgers.

All right.

And last thing, we still have shirts.

Vicki's not here to show you the thing.

We're probably not going to be on the

air again until Tuesday.

We'll do a wrap-up show on all this

with Carolyn, hopefully.

She'll be back home,

and we can do that and all that.

And, yeah, don't forget your thirdsy.

Thirdsy.com backslash jazzy.

And get fifteen percent off your order.

Helps you sleep every night.

We will tell Carolyn that.

Carolyn is having a good comp.

Tomorrow is just going to be the icing

on the cake because we all know she's

a great swimmer with floaties.

And I do believe there'll be a Monday

lunch show.

As long as I'm not too tired.

I do have to go back to work

Monday, so I'll be up.

I mean,

might as well take a break for an

hour and talk to people.

And if you didn't see it,

Tyson Bajan threw a ninety seven yard

touchdown pass tonight for the Chicago

Bears.

Hopefully they don't trade him now

tomorrow because people want to.

With that, everybody have a great night.

We will see you Tuesday night for this

show and Monday afternoon for the lunch

show.

With that, bye guys.
