Hello and welcome to the Transfer News Podcast! I'm Archer, your guide through the twists and turns of the football transfer market. We've got plenty to discuss today, from Saudi Arabia drama to Premier League moves heating up, so let's dive straight in.
First up, the Cristiano Ronaldo saga continues. Reports suggest his Saudi club Al-Nassr are ready to offload the Portuguese superstar for forty-three million pounds. There's even speculation that Ronaldo himself might be looking to leave Al-Nassr, which would be quite the turn of events. The Saudi Pro League remains ambitious though, as they're reportedly targeting Mohamed Salah as their new poster boy amid all this Ronaldo uncertainty.
Speaking of Salah, Liverpool could face a battle on multiple fronts. The Reds are set to rival Manchester United for Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton, which would be an intriguing tussle between two giants. On the outgoing front, Inter Milan want Liverpool's Curtis Jones on loan, while contract talks with Ibrahima Konate reportedly remain unsettled.
Some unfortunate news for Liverpool today as well. Yanis Jacquet has suffered a serious shoulder injury after agreeing a move to Anfield, which is terrible timing for the young player.
Crystal Palace are certainly in the spotlight. Jean-Philippe Mateta has reportedly agreed a move to AC Milan, though we're also hearing that Nottingham Forest made a thirty-five million pound bid for him and Aston Villa are interested too. It'll be interesting to see where he ends up.
Everton striker Beto is attracting attention from Juventus, who are reportedly keen on bringing him to Serie A. David Moyes might have something to say about that depending on Everton's striking options.
Brighton have rejected an approach for Lewis Dunk, showing they're not willing to let their captain leave easily. Fabian Hurzeler clearly values his defensive leader.
Tottenham could pay five million pounds for Andy Robertson from Liverpool, according to reports. That would be quite the acquisition for Thomas Frank as he looks to strengthen his Spurs squad.
Raheem Sterling is apparently in talks with seven clubs as he weighs up his next move. The experienced winger certainly has options.
Aston Villa are targeting Ruben Loftus-Cheek, adding to their Mateta interest. Unai Emery continues to reshape his squad.
On today's actual match action, it was a busy day in the Premier League. Chelsea beat Leeds United two-one under Liam Rosenior. Everton edged past Bournemouth two-one, though Bournemouth have some good news as Evanilson Jimenez has triggered his clause to stay at the club permanently, which Andoni Iraola will welcome.
Tottenham beat Newcastle one-nil, with Thomas Frank praising his club's serious owners in a recent interview. However, there are reports that Cristian Romero's recent comments have been described as a disaster for Frank by pundit Michael Dawson, adding some intrigue to the Spurs camp.
Manchester United won two-nil at West Ham under interim boss Michael Carrick. Aston Villa beat Brighton one-nil, Crystal Palace defeated Burnley one-nil, and Manchester City thrashed Fulham three-nil with Pep Guardiola's side looking in good form.
Nottingham Forest beat Wolves one-nil, Sean Dyche getting another crucial victory. Liverpool won two-nil away at Sunderland, Arne Slot maintaining their push. And Arsenal beat Brentford two-one away from home, Mikel Arteta's side picking up three vital points.
