Have you ever looked at a situation you’re facing in utter disbelief and thought, "How will I ever get over this?" Lysa TerKeurst understands. After years of heartbreak and emotional trauma, she realized it’s not about just getting over hard circumstances but learning how to work through what she has walked through. Now, she wants to help you do the same. That’s why Lysa teamed up with her personal, licensed professional counselor, Jim Cress, alongside the Director of Theological Research at Proverbs 31 Ministries, Dr. Joel Muddamalle, to bring you "Therapy & Theology." While Lysa, Jim and Joel do tackle some really hard topics, you’ll soon find they're just three friends having a great conversation and learning from each other along the way.
Shae Hill: Welcome back to Therapy and Theology, where we help you work through what you walk through. I'm Shae Hill, and I'm so glad to be joined with Lysa TerKeurst today. And we're so excited to talk to you about the new upcoming season that is just around the corner, season 11, and also what you can expect from Therapy and Theology in 2026.
I wanted to let you guys know just a little bit of a life update. You're going to be hearing from me even more in 2026 on the podcast. I have stepped into a full-time role to be able to put my brain on Therapy and Theology all the time.
So that's on YouTube and the podcast, and so many new things that we're also excited to brainstorm. So you're going to be hearing from me outside of just the hosting segments that I've done before on the show. And I'm so thankful for this opportunity and excited to be a part of Therapy and Theology in a new and deeper way.
Lysa TerKeurst: You know, Shae, you've sat beside me since 2016 processing the hardships and the hope and the struggles and the healing all the way since my book Uninvited. There's no one that I trust more to have a voice included in Therapy and Theology than you. You have been an encouragement to me. You are a wealth of wisdom, and I can't wait to hear more from you.
Shae Hill: Thanks, Lysa. I'm excited to step a little bit more from the behind-the-scenes role that I've been in and play a little bit more, I guess, a bigger part in what God is doing just in this podcast and in this program at Proverbs 31 Ministries.
I truly believe the best is yet to come. So, friends, after taking a little bit of a break in January 2026, we are so excited to be releasing four brand new episodes in Season 11 starting next week. And I'm loosely calling this new season Help Check, as we'll spend each week diving into one designated area of help in our lives.
Together, we're going to cover spiritual health, mental health, emotional health, and relational health. And each episode will be a one-on-one conversation with me and one of your favorite Therapy and Theology voices, and I think you're going to love it. I want to tell you a little bit more about the heart behind this new season.
This new series is for anyone who may be thinking, oh, I am just not where I want to be. Maybe you're disappointed in yourself, feeling like you're in the same spot that you were at the end of last year. You want to see progress, you want to experience healing, you want to see improvement in your personal life and in your relationships, but you just don't know where to start. And Lysa, I know that both of us totally understand what that feels like, what it feels like to be in that discouraging place.
Lysa TerKeurst: That's right, Shae. You know, I hear people talk a lot about, I know that I'm in a good place when I'm being true to myself.
Shae Hill: Right.
Lysa TerKeurst: And I understand the sentiment of that statement, and I do think we need to live in honesty in all aspects to our truth, you know, to ourself, to God, and to other people. But I think we need to be really careful with that statement because when we say, I just want to be true to myself, I think we need to back it up and say, I want to be true to my most healed, healthy, whole, and surrendered to God self.
And, you know, I love this series because I think we're going to really help people do that. I think when we talk about spiritual health, mental health, emotional health, and relational health, those are the components that will help us be whole, healed, healthy, and surrendered to God. And that's why I love therapy and theology so much, because we're not just talking about emotional tools and emotional realities. We're also talking about theology, getting into the Bible, and letting the Bible get into us and change us.
Shae Hill: That's so good. And I went into this series hoping that people wouldn't feel overwhelmed, as it could feel like, oh, my gosh, we're going to do this whole overhaul of talking about health and all these different areas in my life.
But I got to sit in every single conversation that we had and that you'll eventually hear. And I'm telling you, I left so encouraged with just how much the Holy Spirit can really do in our life. And I didn't feel overwhelmed, like I had to knock all these things out in 30 days.
I really felt like each conversation had one little nugget of wisdom for me to hold on to that I want to try to implement in this year. And I hope that it will do the same for you. So if you're feeling overwhelmed, rest assured, I promise you it's not going to be a life overhaul.
It really is just going to be such a tender season of encouragement and wisdom. You're going to absolutely love these conversations. And as for the rest of 2026, I'm so excited to let you know that we are going to be bringing you more brand-new therapy and seasons than ever before.
We're going to cover new topics and also speak to so many of the questions that you guys submit through our listener mail form. While we may be bringing you new conversations or maybe even introducing you to new guests, I want you to know that our mission stays the same. We want to help you work through what you walk through.
We're listening to what you guys share online, whether that's a comment on YouTube or a podcast review, or maybe a customer service ticket that you submit through Proverbs 31. We want these conversations to serve you and help you work through what you're walking through in your personal life. And I feel like when I heard Lysa say this this week, it summed it up so well.
Lysa, you said, therapy and theology exist to bring people biblically sound and emotionally relevant conversations. And so I really can't think of a better vision for 2026 than that.
Lysa TerKeurst: Well, I'm so excited, Shae, because I just hosted a couple of retreats at my home. I do these retreats called Haven Place. And the three main voices that you hear, myself, Jim, Joel, we're the leaders of those retreats. And the number one thing that women say when talking about therapy and theology is that it's a lifeline to them.
Some women were even as bold to say, you guys helped save my life. Now, I know what they're saying. Honestly, it's the power of Jesus that helped save their life.
But there has to be a connection between people's pain point. And maybe that's a problem that they're having, a question they're asking, something that they're processing that's really hard. So there's got to be a bridge between their pain point and healthy, relevant information that can really bring them to where they want to be.
And I believe the bridge between their pain point and their healing is therapy and theology. And so I don't want to oversell it, but I also don't want to minimize how important these seasons are of therapy and theology. And I'm so excited about this first one, but honestly, Shae, as I've listened to you talk and brainstorm and work really hard on what this year is going to look like and bringing people more episodes than ever, I can't think of a better time for you to tell people about therapy and theology.
I know you're listening. And so you need to invite other people in, your mom, your sister, your neighbor, have your husband listen to it, have your brother listen to it, have your teenage and grown kids listen to it. So I think therapy and theology is not just for individual use, but I think people can listen to it in the relationships that matter most to them and start having healthier conversations about life in general.
Shae Hill: So good. I love that so much. Okay, friends, there are just a couple of things I want to ask of you before we deliver that first episode of season 11 next week.
First, make sure you access the link in our show notes or in the YouTube description to enter your email address so that we can send you a direct email to your inbox with each brand new episode. When it launches, it's kind of like a little sneak peek for you to stay in the loop of when the new episodes are available and you get to know before anyone else. Secondly, like Lysa said, tell more people about therapy and theology.
Send someone today this trailer via text or send it to them on social media and get them excited about this upcoming season. Maybe you guys can commit to listening to each episode and discussing it together. And lastly, we'd love to hear how therapy and theology is helping you work through what you walk through.
And we would love to know just from hearing from you personally. So whether you have time to leave a comment on YouTube or a comment on Spotify as you're listening, or maybe even a review through Apple podcasts, our team loves to hear from you and your stories and just how these conversations are helping you. Okay, friends, I can't wait for you to hear all that's in store for season 11, but also for 2026.
And we'll be back next week to officially kick off season 11.
