Okay, we're back in ~ giant conversations
~ early
in the morning following the ~ the the
very unhappy ending
of the giant ram game. And ~ I don't know
about
Kevin, but this is like five o'clock in
the morning my time.
~ but I think I look better than I did
when I went to bed last night.
If that means anything. And ~ I'm using my
I'm wearing
my usual ~ Sikh turban because I'm a Sikh.
That's what Sikhs do. They have these
colorful turbans.
So that's why I'm wearing it. But ~ just
to start the show on a ~ pleasant note,
Kevin, you look like you're ~ in front of
so some lovely scenery
and what exactly we know what's on my
head,
what's on your head?
Well, they call this a Jimmy hat.
And you know, we were just gone for three
weeks.
F first of I wanted to thank Big Ed Big Ed
for ~ for stepping in.
I thought he did a great job. rint
interesting perspective.
I I I in I enjoyed ~ listening to him.
~ but my wife and I were in ~ gorgeous
Scotland and this is
a Jimmy hat that ~ you get in
You get in one of the shops in ~ in
Glasgow.
So ~ we were in s well,
That's a good accent. I like that accent.
Can you say Glasgow again? Can you say
that again?
you know, one of my ~ a v a very
good a very good friend of mine who you
know is we Derek Fisher from Glasgow.
So I've I've
I know Derek Fisher.
actually been to Scotland twenty nine
times and ~
Wow.
it's absolutely great. My favorite city in
Europe is Glasgow.
~ but any event, ~ was there for a week.
~
Then to England for four days and then to
glorious Istanbul.
So I was you and I were separated by ten
hour time difference,
~ which is one of the main reasons I
wasn't able to ~ join you.
But Ed, like I said, Ed did a great job.
And ~ always have a great time in
Scotland.
Like I said, I've been there actually this
is my thirtieth time to Scotland,
so it's ~ it's my favorite country of all
the hundred and six countries.
we've been to. I think Scotland's my
favorite country.
And mostly because of their dress and
their hairstyle.
~ that's one of the contributing factors.
But ~ it is not.
Is that your hair? Okay,
This is part of part of part of the part
of the Jimmy part of the Jimmy hair
I was just I thought maybe you dyed your
dyed your hair.
part of the Jimmy hair look. And ~ one
other thing that happened when
we were down in England was in London and
down in a town called Sandwich
in the southeast part of the country and I
played
These two golf courses, Princes and Royal
Port Sink.
Both of them hope hosted the British Open
in the early nineteen hundreds.
And I had played every other British Open
course except for those two.
So now ~ I'm ~ I've completed that ~ the
rota per se,
which is something ~ I always wanted to
do.
~ so ~ I got that going for me,
which is nice which is nice.
So the golf golf start in
Scotland?
It it did. There's some arguments that it
could've s started in in ~ Denmark,
but they played on ice, but ~ we'll never
know for sure.
But ~ the game as we know it today
originated in Scotland.
And ~ you can go to you can go to St
Andrews where you know,
the the first ~ one of the first courses
was and walk where
the immortals walked back in back in the
day.
I believe the first British Open was
eighteen sixty, ~ during the Civil War.
~ so they have a long a long history and
it was ~ you know it's
the kind of golf I love. I love Lynx golf.
They're all lynx courses, which means it's
the land that between the ocean
and the farmland that's usually
~
it's usually ~ sand dunes and seagrass.
And you play in and out of the dunes and
it's just it's just fabulous.
It's very different, but I I I love it.
Derek and his wife Lorna with this
fantastic host is to Asena and I.
And we really we really had a good time
and Assenna played golf in Scotland too.
I d I
know you sent me a picture of seeing her
with the golf clubs
Yeah.
was something ~ I never thought I'd I'd
see.
Yeah.
I mean maybe I mean the only crazier
picture would be her and
my wife together holding their golf clubs.
That would be that would be an
hallucinization.
The last the last
I have this vision of you of our wives at
the this is a game,
I don't know, fifteen years ago maybe.
I and it was against Tennessee.
I remember McMahon
I remember that, yes.
and it was absolutely freezing.
And midway mid
I remember that
midway through the first quarter,
our wives disappeared and we didn't see to
the end of the game.
And they went into the ladies' room and
were rubbing each other's hands because
they
Right. Right. Right.
were frozen,
while Steve McNair
led a furious comeback to put down put
down our love belove our beloved giant.
Giants and the Giants lost if I recall in
I recall we
Yeah.
lost in overtime ~ when I th now this is I
don't know w how I would remember this,
but somehow maybe the the cold sharpened
my my my ~ memory,
~ which I could use right now.
Maybe I just need to be in more cold
weather than I am right now.
But ~ I
Well, you and you will you will be soon.
sh soon enough. But I remember that the
Giants had the ball in overtime.
And they were moving for the go ahead
touchdown when I think Amani Toomer
was penalized for offensive interference,
causing the ball to go back to Tennessee.
And that was the last time the Giants saw
the ball.
But I do remember it was freezing cold.
It was the first giant game I took to my
took my wife to a game and Senna was
there,
your wife. And I remember that ~ they they
they left.
And the two of us being how we are by
nature,
forgot about them and were focused on the
game and forgot we had two wives
who were both from other countries and
missing in action and it didn't occur
to us until ~ the final. I mean,
I didn't I've never admitted this to my
wife.
Hopefully she'll never watch this podcast.
But I I recall us going, I think at the
end of the game and us being very ups
More upset at the Giants losing than
losing our wives at Giants thing.
Hey, wait a minute. Didn't we have our
wives here?
Yeah,
Well speak for yourself. I was always
concerned about my wife.
So you know you you
well that's
and ~ you know moving on to ~ you know I I
haven't talked to you since
the season started. So ~ moving on to last
night's
Yeah. I want to say
a tally sh before moving on to season,
I wanna this is why I'm having this
background here.
shout out to Ernie Accorsi. And I have I
have as I don't know if you see it,
I have him in the background here.
I they do, of course, yeah. I mean we we
owe we owe him a debt of gratitude
And ~ yes.
as the giant fans, that's for sure.
Yeah,
well, you know, for the the younger fans,
he b he basically was the
giant general manager from I think
nineteen ninety-eight
to two thousand and six. He he was the
person most responsible
for putting together that team that and at
least he put the final he
put the final pieces of that team that
went to the Super Bowl in 2000.
Actually a very exciting, a very exciting
team,
especially at the end of the season,
very unexpected team that ~
probably one the most dominant the most
dominant ~ postseason games.
We were there. Giants won what ~ what f
forty to forty one
to nothing I think against the ~ then the
the
the ~ the prohibitive
Powerhouse Minnesota Vicon.
favorite Minnesota Vikings and the Giants
won forty one to nothing that game
to the shock of everybody and Kerry
Collins who Ernie Corsey brought in.
And eventually replaced, played one of the
great games in giant history
and he was actually a favorite of mine.
I really liked Kerry Collins. And then he
really was the architect
who put together the teams that would
eventually win the Super Bowls
in ~ two thousand and seven and two
thousand eleven.
They really the the really building blocks
of those those teams he he put together.
And so ~ for those not aware of him,
he he was a significant
Person in recent giant history.
So
Yeah.
I mean we like the like we said,
we owe him a debt of gratitude.
he was always interested to listen to him
talk.
He had a lot of stories going.
I know he went o he was part of the ~
Baltimore scene during the United States
and
Mm-hmm.
~ you know, a l a living piece of history
and ~ he'll
And then, you know, ~
he'll be missed.
another piece of interesting history about
well,
he was a big New York Yankee fan,
even when he was not in New York,
big Mickey Mantle fan. And so he was a
like sports historian.
But an interesting piece of his own
history is that he was working under
George
Young in Baltimore way back when.
And he then he stayed on there,
and George Young landed up going to the
Giants in the late seventies, which really
changed the trajectory
of the Giants franchise. But Ernie Ocorsi
stayed on in Baltimore and
The management there were wanting they had
the first draft pick
and they they were gonna trade and they
did trade
~ the first round pick,
which was John Elway to Denver for ~ the
it was really bad trade for Baltimore and
John Elway
Yeah. For a bag of balls.
for a bag of balls and he was so angry
because he was like a quarterback guy.
He went with
Unitedis and then he was the guy for for
yeah,
he arranged the Eli Manning trade and he
was so upset that they they traded
the rights to John Elway that he quit.
Well that's interesting 'cause there's
only two players in NFL history that
I can think of that kind of manipulated
their way out of their draft position
and Ornia Ernie Coursey was around for
both of them.
was in the one going out and one going
back in.
It's a and
and both of them turned out to be very
good decisions for the player and the
team.
By the way. ~
Right. By the way.
I mean not not for his team, but for
Denver and for New York.
But ~
Mm-hmm.
that's
That's interesting and and you know,
I I have a very short Mickey Mantle story.
I met him a couple of times 'cause ~ I
worked in this farm stand on Long Island.
I know people don't associate Long Island
with this aglair
~ you know you know,
this ~ agar agrarian ~ paradise,
but there was a little farm stand next to
us and ~ he used to come
in with Whitey Ford on occasion.
And I'd fill up their trunk with pumpkins
or whatever they wanted.
So that's
What do you think? I I doubt they well,
my that was my br that was my br that was
my brush with greatness with ~ McClymato.
why I doubt
they did their own cooking.
I I can only tell you what happened.
You know, and I I'm
th they bought pumpkins from you.
and ~ and other things, yeah. The fruits
or whatever.
Were you wearing that hat? Were you
wearing that hat when you were son?
I
I was not I I wasn't wise to the ways of
the Scots at that point.
I was like you know, I was a f fifteen or
sixteen years old.
~ But no. So ~
Thank you for the your the the your homage
to Ernie and ~ I'd I'd like to con
yeah, by the
way, l my last comment about Ernie is that
~ if and this for you too,
if you know, and and now these days you
can get these things easily online,
but he he actually wrote a book after the
2007 Super Bowl.
And it was called The Gen the Gen I th I
believe the name of the book
was The General Manager. And it was like a
really fun book.
He was a very good storyteller,
so if you ever have the chance you
You should ~ read that book. Really and a
really good s you know,
the stories about some of the people you
talk about,
John Unitis and Elway and and and Eli
Manning and so a very
a very good book about like football in
the sixties,
seventies and eighties because ~ and
nineties he because he actually was
~ in the front office of football in that
time for forty years.
Interesting but all right. Enough enough
history.
Yeah. Okay, thank so
Let's talk about the history in the last
twenty four hours.
Alright. So ~ I you know, hi I I haven't
talked to you since the season started.
So just a couple of comments. I'm gonna
start with the positive.
Last night I thought the Giants special
team played very well.
Yes.
I th so that w that was one good thing
that happened.
The other good thing that happened was
that ~ the quarterback was back
on the sideline in sweats, probably
indicating that he's
not overly seriously injured. We'll see.
We'll see.
And I also
thought I also thought his hair looked
good.
~ so those are the three positive things I
took out of out of the game.
Yeah, but
also, you know, ~ without the uniform on
everything,
he looked like he was about sixteen years
old.
He
did, I noticed that too. He he is.
Matter of fact, he is about sixteen years
old.
What is he twenty two?
Yeah, no, no, it's funny, I never
saw him like that, but he looked like he
was like sixteen.
You know, it's either w it was without all
the the football uniform or without,
you know, kind of his celebrity kind of
dressing.
But just l wearing just like sweats and
standing on the sideline,
he looked like the starting quarterback of
his high school team.
Yeah. Yeah. He
he looked like a you know, somebody's son
that snuck into you know,
snuck down on the sidelines.
Yeah, he didn't look like a grizzled
veteran or anything.
Yeah. And and other than that,
I th I thought the Giants were dominated
by a better team.
especially especially
That's all you could say.
on the line of scrimmage, both lines of
scrimmage.
~ they were just overwhelmed by a team
that
has more talent than than they do.
~ and ~ you know,
~ I I didn't think the defense played all
that different than it did against Dallas.
I mean
The only difference in the game was the
Dallas offense didn't have the never
Never had the one, that's right.
had the ball, but the Giants did very
little to stop them.
And in this case, the same thing.
The Rams stopped themselves. They they
could have won this game forty nine at
six.
I mean, I didn't think Stafford had a
particularly great game.
a and
And I think either
one of us could have thrown to the
receivers,
they were so wide open. I mean,
it was like it was
Yeah. Yeah.
like a scrimmage, you know. It's
Yeah, you know, and there's some I'm not
I'm not I'm I'm a little less concerned
about the offense because you know,
you need your starting quarterback.
This this guy has the instincts to play,
although he looked a little shaky even at
the beginning,
but ~ that's a couple throws and ~ you
know,
that I don't think that's that big a deal,
but he's he's got instincts, right?
He knows when to run. ~ you know,
he ~ and and you miss that. And you know,
Jameis Winston
You know, his pr has been a pretty
competent backup.
I know he's he's pr he's pr he's he
is the you know why? The
hi his game's prone to folly. I understand
that,
but he
The interceptions
aside, that was the worst game I ever saw
him play.
He
Yeah, and add a character too,
you know. ~ really, he seemed almost
skittish.
~
Both
of them did, and I think that if if I went
back and actually watched
the game from the beginning, I thought
that Dart looked skittish also.
And I think the reason that they were
skittish is that they got this looked like
the giant offensive line of like the Joe
Judge era.
You know, they they looked overwhelmed.
They they couldn't block for they
especially the pass block.
was atrocious. And even,
you know, their best player, Andrew ~
Thomas,
he was the guy who missed his block on the
play that Dart got hurt.
~ he wa to me, he was overwhelmed and he's
their best player.
~ the middle of the line was horrific in
the past blocking.
It looked like a jailbreak.
And the thing, you know, it's funny
because it's a week later and like a week
ago,
you know, everybody's euphoric because it
looks like the Giants have like
a real serious team there. ~ and ~ and
it's
a week later and it's hard to find a lot
of good things to say about the team.
They were so overmatched everywhere.
I what can you even say?
Except except
on special teams. The special teams were
good.
But
Special well
also, but the Rams don't have good special
teams.
That's good to mention. But I think the
Giants have ~ this field goal kicker looks
very good. The punter looks otherworldly.
Un unbelievable.
He that was
seven like that was a okay, so that's a
seventy yard kick from scrimmage,
right? That on a fly, this wasn't one of
the ki that's where the
guy caught the ball, right? And if
Yeah, yeah.
you add on
Him taking the snaps, that's between
eighty and eighty-five yards in the air.
That's crazy. That's really crazy.
Yeah. ~
That that's the longest.
That's probably the long that's not like
the longest punt in NFL history,
but it's it may be the longest punt
actually in in the distance that it
carried.
Because usually they bounce for like
twenty or thirty yards.
That was in that was insane.
It was it was unbelievable and the and the
again the special teams look good.
I'm not gonna get overly panicky about
this game.
I mean the the Rams are one of the best
teams in the league.
It's early in the s early in the season.
You know, ~ the Giants aren't in their
class at this point.
the so I'm not
I'm not overly panicking and I I wasn't
pat overly obullient with other than they
beat Dallas,
who I can't stand, but you know,
the way overall the way they played,
they could have easily lost the Dallas
game.
I mean, easily. I mean they they fumbled
four times,
three of them got ~ bounced right back to
them.
And so there was all this talk about what
a dominant performance.
And I mean they played well within their
talent
level against Dallas. But
I I d I wouldn't consider that dominant.
I consider Dallas is in their class,
you know. Dallas has a lousy defense and ~
you know,
a very good offense. And you know,
those teams were kind of evenly matched.
In this case, ~ not not the case,
and I'm I'm not gonna get overly panicky
about that.
And I know that next week you and I will
be together in the Jersey swamp,
actually for the next two weeks.
So ~
You know, we could be broadcasting live
from the stadium.
Who knows?
We could.
But ~ the the defense is more concerning
to me.
So
Well they
haven't done any in either game they
really haven't.
I mean th there was one play by Carter
that was spectacular.
Where he like split this double team and
sacked the quarterback.
I mean that that was a really a
spectacular play,
But he other than that play, he was kind
of quiet.
but yeah, no, I know that. I I know,
what's his name? And and Burns
I know I know, but I'm trying to pick out
the higher.
hasn't really done it.
Yeah, I mean so the concern is there's
very little pass rush
and the secondary's shaky. So,
wow, toy shaky you're being kind.
you know, that's a that's a bit this is a
bad this
a this is a bad ~ a bad combination.
But you know, the Giants have a bunch of a
hundred and forty five pound guys rushing
to passer, right? The Rams had guys that
looked like they were
Yeah. Yes.
two hundred and eight two hundred and
ninety pounds rushing to pass her.
You know, so ~ not not that they won't
find their way.
I mean they're they're talented guys.
I mean the the defense was very prosaic to
me.
I mean i i they were in a standard set.
It looked like almost the entire game.
They're not doing anything creative yet.
~ they may you know, th it probably
they're not doing because they don't have
confidence in the secondary. I'm not sure.
But they th th you know, they they seem to
be in
not not very ~ creative yet.
And that maybe out of necessity,
not sure. ~ you know, we'll see moving
forward.
~ I mean ~ next week is gonna be ~ you
know a a game you know a team that's
~ you know on the Giants level,
clearly a team that they could beat.
They could also probably get beaten by
them.
They could lose. That's right.
Especially if they don't
And it's but and they look
who'd they be? They be Tampa Bay,
another team kind of in the Giants class.
They didn't they lost to Philadelphia on
like the last play of the game.
no,
I'm sorry, I'm thinking of no,
Cleveland beat ~ that's right.
Yeah. Yeah,
there were a lot of I mean, everything's ~
tending as the league likes,
tending towards mediocrity,
mediocrity with a couple of ex outliers on
either side.
to to to s to some Yeah,
and and and and
three you could argue that the three best
teams are all in the NFC West.
The the the Seahawks, the four and the the
team from Northern California,
I can't mention their name, and ~ the
Rams.
Those three team
That's right, that's
right. They're probably the three best
teams
The R
in the at least in the NFC, yeah.
Maybe the whole league.
Yeah. At at this at
at this point. At this point. ~ so that's
~ that's a r that's a rough division
to have to play, but everyone in the
Giants division's gonna have
to play those teams too. So, you know,
I I don't think it's a disaster to lose
this game.
But Tennessee
You
almost beat Philadelphia, so I'm expecting
the the the Giants
Yeah, that's gonna I'm s
are are are are just I think before the
season,
that's a win. I don't think any game is an
automatic win for the Giants.
No, but you know, that's you know,
that's probably gonna be if especially if
the quarterback doesn't play that'll
probably be a pick game. The Giants will
be a three point favorite 'cause
of they're at home. ~ so
But it'll be
I you know what? After after last night I
I can't say that I'm confident with their
backup quarterback. He was awful last
night.
Wow.
Well, I know, but he he has a he has a
history again of being a little reckless,
but also making a lot of plays.
I I I'd say this is an aberrant
performance for him.
I I expect him to play much better.
He played last year, he played well.
I mean, I'm not I'm not gonna ~
Last year he played he played well.
you know he played well, yeah.
Wasn't his fault they lost those games.
Yeah, I'm
not I'm not ~ I haven't written him off.
I I think he he'll d he'll do okay.
he he had a lousy game and the the whole
team was overwhelmed,
you know, th although
Yeah, they weren't they were all
he he played terrible. He'd probably be
the first guy to tell you that.
And so
It's
amazing how they you know what I was I was
thinking about,
you know, in comparison, the Giants kind
of not being able
to really figure this whole thing out in
the last 10 or 15 years.
And you have to think that the Rams ~ five
years ago threw everything into winning
the Super Bowl. They had traded all their
high draft picks for like four
or five years. They didn't even have any
high draft picks.
And their roster was filled with ~ older
players,
free agents who left. And they managed to
completely retool
in like two, three years at the most
without ever becoming a bad team.
And you're thinking, how could they have
figured this out?
And you got teams like the Giants who are
still floundering.
It just it's a head scratcher to me.
Yeah.
They're the Redskins of the 70s and 80s.
Right? The Red that's what the Redskins
did for years,
right? They they didn't believe in they
only wanted established players,
so they traded all their draft choices for
established players.
And they did well for a long time until
they didn't,
but that's the you know, an analogy you
can draw.
But you know, the Rams are a well-run
organization.
You know, the people making the
selections,
the coaches
I think the coach is good. Very good.
And you know, they're ~ I like them.
I mean I I root for the Rams. They they're
they're fun to watch.
They're ~ they're they're an interesting
team.
I wasn't rooting for last night.
~ but ~ they're you know,
a benchmark.
That was so last night, especially maybe
after that false high of the week before,
that was sobering.
It was. It was, but you know,
~
Maybe it'll be good for the team.
I mean, maybe, you know
Yeah, no,
I mean first of all, let's put it this
way.
If if I said to you in August,
the team's gonna be one and one after two
games,
you'd go, that yeah, that'd be great.
everybody would take that. Everybody would
take that.
And so they're one and
Yeah, but but but you'd
also have to say but ~ the their their
their quarterback,
~ we don't know how long he's gonna be
out,
and their ~ best defensive lineman last
year may have a serious injury,
and their ~ wide receiver, although he's
gonna come back from a knee,
his shoulder did he had a dislocated
shoulder yesterday.
~ and so
Yeah, and
and you could you could probably make that
case for every team in the league.
To some to summit to some to some extent.
You know what? It's really shows how
dangerous a sport it is.
Everybody every team
I mean
has lost even the w but look at the Rams.
They were they lost ~ how do you pronounce
the name?
Paco Poo Poop Pacoa and and they didn't
have Garrett either.
Listen, you should have took care of that
before you we started the ~
the ~ the podcast, you know. You know you
know,
nobody's interested in your biological ~
functions this so,
you know. I don't think his name's La
Poopakah.
~ But but it's something it's something
like that.
He he's a great player.
You know, I
the other you know what talking about by
my biological problems here,
Well, I I I certainly
~
didn't mean to to to have the
conversation.
More mental than more mental than
Go d go
than let's say evacuation. But ~
huh.
you know, this morning I was I was gonna
mention this and I was gonna mention about
Miles Garrett being out, right?
And ~
Yeah, yeah.
and being basically replaced on the line
with somebody who hasn't played
for two and a half years, who still
dominated the game,
e even after having not played a game for
two and a half years.
And
But I couldn't remember Miles Garrett's
name.
And I'm thinking this is d doesn't portend
well for future podcasts
as I'm increasingly forgetting names of
yeah,
Ha ha ha
what's the quarterback of the Giants?
The guy who looked
like he's sixteen years old. I mean,
I that's
Yeah.
how it's gonna be probably as we go on,
that instead of me remembering names and
numbers,
I'm gonna be like ~ referring to people by
~ some ~ something about their
Well,
Appearance.
we can look
the we can look the fast Eddie for
inspiration.
I think he said he was eighty.
And he seems pretty darn cogent.
He's sharp. He's sharp.
Cogent. So ~ he at least we at least we
have a role model.
We should bring him in as a third ~ as a
third party to to to t so so that way f
Well, I think I think both of us,
I think we should bring guests in.
when we when we forget something,
~ he he can remind us.
Yeah, well, you know, and he's got a
little he's got a little this ~ Larry
David
in him too, which I think really is an
interesting ingredient.
So ~
Yeah, yeah.
but he doesn't like me saying that,
so I may have to cut this out.
Any anyway, so I'm looking forward to next
week.
you and I will ~ be there in person,
see the team. ~ I I think we everyone
understands that ~
the season's gonna have its share of ups
and downs.
I think also think we have the right man
in charge.
~ it might ~ take a little while.
Mm.
~ but we'll we'll see. I'm
You've become a lot more level headed over
the years,
I must say. This was this is not how you
would talk ten years ago.
Are you taking like melatonin before going
to bed or you know,
like what I mean, I know you don't
meditate.
I mean, I get up four o'clock in the
morning to meditate,
but ~ what are you taking any like
supplements or anything?
'Cause I don't I don't again, my memory
isn't what it used to be,
but I don't remember this even ~ level
headedness that that you bring
to the table now. Is that a recent thing?
Well
well they have this beer in Scotland
called Bellhaven's Best that I love.
And ~ so I'm I was ~
I was I I had my fair share of those when
I was in Scotland,
so it's keep me calm.
So do you think that Bellhaven's
~ is is providing you something of a more
level headed view towards
at least football?
I I'd like to think so. I d I don't know.
I mean I'm I'm a little calmer than I used
to be in in general.
I mean I I used to throw stuff and ~ and ~
I remember that. I remember that.
Would you like to share
would you like to share a a throwing
objects giant story?
Well, I got ~
I know that you have many of them.
well I s about I don't know, twenty years
ago at Christmas time,
somebody bought me a New York Giants bad
coal brick and I have it in
I remember that, I remember that.
the coff coffee table.
I still have it. So you know, this way I
could throw something that
~ that wouldn't break wouldn't break
something.
~ but you know, the only thing I I really
~ in general ever
got upset about was the Giants and
Sometimes my golf game. Other than that
I'm pretty ~ I'm pretty pretty stable,
pretty pretty level headed. But I'm you
know,
my wife helped me a lot with that,
'cause you know, she ~ she's ~ you know,
a mental health counselor. And like I said
before,
she gives me five percent off,
which I appreciate and you know,
what what good does it do? I mean you
can't you can't help yourself,
but it you know, I'm I'm calmer now
because
~ I'm better off being calm. And you know,
you you do ~ you look at yourself,
right? You do ~ isn't that that's I think
that's a big part of ~ Buddhism,
you know, self-observing. You observe
yourself.
So, you know, I I when I observe myself,
I can see elements of my personality that
aren't flattering and I
try to ~ try to do something about it.
So does your wife point out to you that,
you know, when the Giants are like blowing
a lead late in the game
and and you're like not ha not happy about
it,
like she'll remind you in a key moment of
the game that this is
a good opportunity to observe yourself?
no, she leaves the house during the game.
And ch and I'm and tr and tr I'm
Yeah, that's usually what my wife is
that's self self preserv self
preservation.
I don't trusted to my own devices,
but I'm like like you said, I'm I'm I'm
calmer than than I used to be.
But a anyway, so next week's a new week.
~ we'll have more data, we'll have more
information.
This'll be an interesting game.
Be an interesting game, I think.
~ so
Well and then you got
you got the the the jet sex coach and
Dable coming in so they have
a little extra motivation.
Yeah.
Yeah, I I I have almost no interest in
that.
~ you know, he's he's like Daniel Jones to
me.
You know, I saw J Daniel Jones play was
playing the other night and he
he and he played pretty well. But I
He played pretty well.
I'm just g I'm just glad. I I have nothing
against him.
I hope he does well. I just don't want him
on my team and I don't really want
to see him. But I but I don't I don't hate
the guy.
I just he he just brings back
Conjures up images of horrendous losing
football,
and so so does the ~ offensive coordinator
for Tennessee.
Yeah, he so
Right, right, yeah.
I I I I don't dislike him. He seems like a
decent guy,
and I I I wish him well,
but I I I don't want to have anything to
do with him.
Yeah, well, you know what? And that's what
happens when you play,
like, you know, that you know,
they that for instance this guy Slayton,
who was probably their best receiver over
that very bad time of football.
He should have been number two or three
receiver from the beginning
and they didn't have anything better.
And so I I actually thought that they were
gonna cut him loose for that reason,
actually, if there was any
you know, i if it was between him and
another player,
I think the new coach just wants to get ~
a different mentality on the the team then
Yeah.
By the way, I think this guy and we need
Ed here 'cause I forgot his name.
This guy's seventeen, looks like a decent
player.
Mooney.
Yeah. He seems he seems to catch things
catch the ball.
He's a lo
he's a lot shorter than Plac Plexicobar
Burris.
Same number, but a lot shorter.
He is
He looks
like a midget a midget ~ Plexicoburris.
But he but he tends to catch the ball if
it's thrown to him.
Most of their receivers
Which which I like.
do, although last night there was a couple
of drop passes and this g this tight
Yeah. Eighty eighty four. Again,
end cannot catch the ball. my god.
I need a I I f I forgot his name,
~ my god. Yeah, John. Teo Johnson.
but I but that was on the pla that was on
the play that ~ Dart Dart Dart
Teo John it was a great pass. It was a
great pass.
got hurt hurt. I mean it was a great pass.
You gotta catch that. You can't trust
And and he he he dr
him. He's not.
he dropped another one later in the game.
~ so
He's not gonna be, he's not
for long. He's not for long for that team.
That's it, you know, it's it's one of
these things,
the guy's got ability, but if you're a
receiver,
you have to catch the ball. I mean,
that's you know, he laid do you
Yeah.
know that he led this this is almost hard
to do because there's so many.
The last two years, he led the NFL in
tight ends and drops
for two consecutive years. That's that's
actually hard to do.
That's that's
impressive. That's impressive.
That's very impressive.
You think of all the tight ends,
both the starters and backups and all
this,
that two consecutive years. That's
incredible actually.
Yeah. Especially with
~ Evan Ingram still in the league.
I mean that's ev maybe made even more
impressive.
He made a great catch.
You know what? Yesterday he's still
playing.
So he this
I know.
this is his I guess tenth year in the
league.
And he made an incredible catch.
~ that was at a crucial catch.
And he caught this catch and I'm going,
Where where was that catch when he played
for the Giants?
It's it's
Yeah. Yeah. Another guy seemed like a
really nice guy.
Good good
Yes.
good dude, you know. You'd like to have
him maybe as a neighbor,
but not just not on your team.
But
But he went
on to play better for two other teams.
Yeah, not not great. He he's better.
He's competent. He's a middle of the road
NFL tight end.
Well, you know, when he a couple of years
Which is
ago when he went to Jacksonville he had
like a hundred and ten catches and
he had a fairly good year.
Yeah. Alright, so ~ if there ~ isn't
anything else,
I'll look forward to seeing you.
It's been a while since
I'll see ya.
we saw each other face to face.
~ I'm not
Okay. I still will
you'll I'll be wearing a turban.
You will I assume not be wearing what
you're wearing unless you're bringing your
I'm I I I'm not going
golf
clubs to the stadium.
I'm not going with the Jimmy hat.
I I'm not gonna repeat hats. You know,
I have hats for a lot of different
countries,
but ~ I'm not gonna I'm not gonna repeat
hats.
You do. You do. Do you wear that
So
when you're like in like your daily life
or you just save those for podcasts?
Well, you know, sometimes I sometimes I
just wake up in a Jimmy Hat mood
and you know, I throw it on. ~ it's all
it's all that's all I've done.
A the kind of wife like you have,
but I like this I don't know this about a
Senate.
Like if if you were out like in public,
right, and you were w wearing like your
Tiki Barber
jersey and and the Jimmy hat, right?
Yeah. Which I am, which I am, I don't
know.
Would she would she be
I see that. Would would she I had my Jason
Seahorn jersey on for last week.
I don't know if you saw that. ~ like
So i would is Sen and be like slightly
embarrassed to be seen in public with
you like with that or does she doesn't
care?
N
no, I don't think she'd be embarrassed.
I think she'd think it'd be funny.
My wife would be embarrassed.
Yeah. Well I got plenty of plenty of other
things that she would
be embarrassed with me, but not that.
There you go. There you go. Yeah.
Yeah, I have actually
a list. I have like a list of things.
But that's another okay, well great.
Yeah, okay. So
We'll we'll
~ we'll ~ see you
See you in See you in the Jersey swamp.
at at the ball game
and yeah and ~ you know hopefully
something to feel good b good about.
Don't don't get don't
get don't get panicky. Giants nation out
there and I know we have the this legion
of fans. Don't get panicky. It's one game.
It's a long season. ~
Well then even if
they lose next week, I it's just another
opportunity in this short life
to observe myself. So I I just just
encourage me to observe myself if if ~
Yeah, yeah, good.
if it's another devastating loss.
It's good advice, man. Good advice.
Take a look at look at yours look at
yourself honestly and critically.
All right, well I'd take a serious take a
serious look of myself,
Yeah.
an honest look of
myself. Thanks again. You know,
it looks like ~ in this picture,
Ernie Accorsi, d you think he looks a
little like ~ somebody who just
had that beer you had in Scotland?
He looks well.
Or maybe or maybe
he was denied that beer and is not happy.
Listen, I am not gonna I'm not gonna say
any disparaging remarks for a
man that just passed away, but there's a
lot of images that come to mind with that
picture that ~ I'll share at a later date.
Okay. And and by the way, the last thing,
last question I almost forgot to ask,
because I've heard this, ~ because we we
both ~ we both really like Indian food
and you know and I have very strong ties
obviously to Indian culture
and I've been to India many, many times.
how's I heard the Indian food
in in Scotland, especially G Glasgow,
is
Is right up there with the Indian food in
India.
I heard it's the best Indian food for at
least ~ outside of India.
It's spectacular. There's this one place
called Mother India,
which is arguably my favorite restaurant
in the world.
There's a toss up between that and
Richardson's in Ariz in Phoenix,
my two favorite restaurants. But it's kind
of like tapest Indian food.
But just just spectacular. Well,
~ what's tapestinian? What Tapest Indian?
you
know, it comes you know, it comes in small
smaller dishes,
so you share it.
~
okay, sure.
Like Spanish tapest, so that's a yeah.
tapas, like, ~ yeah. Well, you know,
Yeah.
that's actually
traditionally how people eat Indian food.
Like if you're in India, people,
~ a little less so in the States,
let's say, but if you're actually in
India,
you know that that's usually how they
serve it.
They just bring out like all these little
dishes and and people share them.
So, you know, there may be fifteen
different things.
And then you've had
Tolly there too, you know, which is like
that metal dish and they've
Yeah. Yeah, sure. yeah.
got all those little things in it which
are great also.
Yeah. ~ I
I I love that I I actually made ~ coconut
~ tour dal last night.
It's in and I got a big pot of it on the
stove right now.
So
~ okay. Well
you know, next time next time we're we're
both in Manhattan,
I'll take you to like some good southern I
yeah,
I don't think you've had as much southern
India.
I haven't. I've had some, but I haven't.
You're
I really
I like it. It's it's kind of repetitive.
It's it's you know, it's the same kind of
dishes,
but it's lighter, you know. I I really
like Indian food,
but you know, I'm I'm seventy-four now,
so my liver and gallbladder aren't as
appreciative as my palate.
Well, you know, we did go to Sri Lanka a
few years ago.
I think that's closer to southern e Indian
Similar, yeah, yeah.
food and yeah, a little bit lighter.
Nice. Really really enjoy. But ~ anyway,
Light. Mm-hmm. You gotta run
~ fear mel
I'll say fear melanga then. ~ to to you.
Okay, I'll say why Guruji Kakalso,
why good.
We have our little ~ little greetings and
a little goodbyes.
And so a little it's our little secret
codes.
So ~ all right, well thanks for joining us
today,
and I'll see you in the ball game on ~
Sunday and and hopefully it'll
~ wash the palate as we say from the ~ the
bitterness
of of last night that at the on the other
hand
gave us yet another opportunity to observe
ourselves.
So hopefully we'll be when we see each
other before kickoff we'll already have
been
~ wiser men for it.
Sot now.
Salam G. We'll see you later. God bless
you.
All right. Bye bye. Bye.
Ciao.
