Challenging myself to record a podcast episode a day for my 50th year on this planet.
Chris: Hello and welcome to Dailyish
for Wednesday, October 21st, 2026.
I'm recording an episode every day
for this, my 50th year on the planet
Today in Things I Love as part of
the ongoing series of things I love
that happen to just mainly be TV
shows right now, but we'll, we'll
get to other ground, I'm sure, I'm
recommending Vision Quest on Disney+.
It's part of a trilogy of sorts,
uh, starting with, uh, WandaVision,
Agatha All Along, ending
with, of course, Vision Quest.
As of this recording, it
has four episodes out.
I believe it's got four episodes
more, so eight episodes in total.
It stars Paul Bettany as Vision, James
Spader as Ultron, and most importantly
to Canadians or fans of Schitt's
Creek, Emily Hampshire, who played
Stevie on Schitt's Creek, as Edith,
and a bunch of other cool actors, too
You don't have to have seen anything
else in the Marvel Cinematic Universe
to under- to enjoy the show, I guess.
Obviously, there's a certain amount
of understanding that can happen
where if you've seen all of the Marvel
movies and stuff and shows, there's a
lot of little lore that you can grab
onto and understand that's going on.
But also, I feel like it stands
on its own pretty well, as do the
WandaVision and Agatha All Along.
There's definitely things and elements
from each that kind of carry over and
help answer questions that you might
have had from the first or second series
or from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
It's not like a confusing storyline
that if you haven't seen anything
else in the Marvel Cinematic
Universe, this won't make any sense.
I'm not sure when exactly it was produced,
but it's a very timely series in that
there's a lot of conversation around the
various AI bots that are working alongside
Vision, the main bot that was in, uh,
Tony Stark's armor in Iron Man and then
became his own character But whether you
know James Spader from the voice of Ultron
in past movies or from even his role on
The Office as Robert California, the sort
of sarcastic condescending father figure
kind of voice that he lend to Ultron and
Robert California for that matter, plays
off really well as Vision tries to, you
know, sort of save his world, save the
world around him without spoiling anything
And the other AI bots that are involved,
such as Edith, just play a really good
supporting role in making it a fun
series to watch It's visually stunning
in the same sense that, WandaVision
and Agatha All Along were, like really
colorful, really kind of playful.
Plays a lot with pop culture mixed
with the, um, you know, the bit of the
superhero stuff, but that's not the
really the focus of the sh- the show.
If the Marvel Cinematic Universe kind
of exhausts you with like big, you
know, battles and superheroes saying
their iconic lines and all that kind
of stuff, this is definitely not that
Aside from the fact that it is about
an AI bot synthetic, uh, robot, I
forget what they call it in the show,
it feels like a very human story
I know there's too many different
streaming platforms to keep up with,
and especially considering subscriptions
to said streaming platforms have gone
up 150, 200% over the last five years.
It's hard to keep one service, let alone
many services, uh, on your subscription
queue So I wouldn't say this is like
rush out and subscribe to Disney+ for
this show, But if you have Disney+,
then it's a great series to check out
All right, that's it for this episode.
