I haven't seen you guys, like, all summer. You've been traveling all over the world. And I mean, we had Sunday night dinner, but you guys were on one end of the table, and I was in the kids section, which was a much better to be.

We had fun on that end of the I saw. And so I wanted to talk if you wanna talk about your summer vacation, but being on the end with the kids table and where they're at now and their ages was kind of the theme I put together for end of summer, beginning of school, because today's the first day of school for your kids.

I think you have to start watching over other things than you did in the past when they were younger.

I don't know. I mean, I think all the years kinda conform them, but I think high school really solidifies a lot more. Yeah. So I gotta wait and see.

But I think it's gonna be a big change from going from middle school to high school.

The thing is is that unfortunately, I didn't get to experience this all with Stella.

New. New. And exciting. Yeah. Is there a shift in your parenting styles now that they're independent and driving?

Melissa Shere Beek:

I mean not Meyer but like now that your girls are driving and they've But driving two is there a shift in the way that you parent?

Samantha Shere Sharpe:

I think for me there's a shift in it's not as intense as junior year was of Oh, that's a hard Such the hard courses and starting the ACT. I mean, she's still taking the ACT. She's gonna take it till they tell her she can't take it anymore. She wants that perfect score.

Melissa Shere Beek:

Samantha Shere Sharpe:

So It is. I mean, she's in a major boot camp right now. She go yesterday, she was at ACT tutoring from from 02:30 to 07:30 and then ran right down to soccer practice till nine. I I don't know this girl. But I feel like a load, it's a lot less pressure for me as a parent.

Melissa Shere Beek:

Gonna say I pressure on you guys or pressure on the kids?

Jessica Shere Coggins:

I hope both. Right.

Samantha Shere Sharpe:

No pressure on her, which means no pressure on me. Right. Now it's just gonna come down to applying and making sure everything's done. But we both hired somebody to be on top of them.

What surprised you the most as they aged? They they came like young adults.

Jessica Shere Coggins:

I think to me, what what really transpired for me was I know when they say you're young, they watch everything you do. But as they've gotten older, like, I can catch specific things that they've caught on to that they do. It's it's amazing.

Melissa Shere Beek:

Like mimicking you.

Jessica Shere Coggins:

Yeah. Like, you'll hear something from them, and you're like, oh my god. I said that, like, four years ago. Like and they'll

You planted the seeds.

Jessica Shere Coggins:

And they actually really do. Like, they'll say, it's great. It's great. It's like, wow. You know, you had some sort of effect to who they are, whether good or bad or whether indifferent.

I notice that a lot.

As they get older.

I think I would say more that I'm happy. Like, for Brea, she's had this wave of friends. And her I I mean, I can say that her friends are the friends that she's, I guess, had a long, long time ago. And I'm gonna cry, No, don't

it's she's back with her cousin, you know? And they are so polar opposite that But that's why it works.

And it just like melted my heart.

They have each other. It's really nice to be able to know that.

I've told her don't put the pressure on where you're ED ing that that's gonna be your school because you have to be realistic. You have so many great, great options that it's just because she has a chance to ED, that's okay and that's cool and you can go for that, but don't set your heart on that.

It's also not where you start, it's where you end up. So everything that might look look great on paper or great when you visit may not be great when you're living there. And so you can transfer and you can be like, Nothing is set
