Pacific Rink does not do sales, they do not do holiday sales, you'll never see their bags for sale because they don't do that because they know that their gear is superior to everything else out there, so they don't have to. So, Brad, obviously, we've been linked with Pacific Rink for a while now, They're our show sponsor.
Jamie:So he was gracious enough to give our listeners a discount code. It's live now. It will go through nine three, so it's only a week, which is beyond gracious. I expected like twenty four to thirty six hours. Yeah.
Jamie:So he gave a full week. So it's crazy dad ten, one word.
Scott:And it's not plural, just dad.
Jamie:Just dad. Crazy dad 10, c r AZYDAD10. Okay? For 10% off your Pacific Rink, go get it because again, they do not have sales. He was gracious enough to do this just for our listeners and the people that follow us on social media.
Jamie:So go grab whatever you need to grab, whether it's a pond pack, a stick bag, you know, because we're flying to Notre Dame at the end of September. Yeah. Go grab a stick bag so your bag so your sticks don't break in transit. The hockey bags are insane. Like I said, the pond pack, the the weekender bag is insane.
Jamie:Scott and I use it all the time for camera gear or just traveling with clothes. They have phenomenal stuff, the quality is excellent. Again, I've been I was using it even before Pacific Rink was a sponsor of ours. Yep. Right?
Jamie:For years. Before we even before we even thought about having a podcast. So go check out our discount code Pacific Rink Crazy Dad 10 for 10% off your Pacific Rink gear.

Jamie:Fun stuff. Fun. Although that's pretty fun. 10% off Pacific Rink is pretty fun.
Scott:That's definitely fun.
Jamie:That's ridiculous. Yep. That was super gracious of him.
Scott:Yeah. And, yeah, sorry. You know what? The truth is this mic this the this microphone thing is driving
Jamie:me Are you? Man. It's Yeah. It's because like I said, Scott and I are playing around with new gear. We keep upgrading our gear, which is great.
Jamie:It's great that we're upgrading our new gear. Yeah. But you are Scott's e Scott does not like how he hears himself in his earphones. Got it.
Scott:Got it. I'm stopping.
Jamie:You're done? I'm done. You're stuck in his earphones at all?
Scott:I'm done
Jamie:with that. Fair. Listen.
Scott:What do call it? Headphones off. Not tarps off yet, but just headphones.
Jamie:No. Right. Headphones off, which you could do headphones off. Want me to do headphones when I join you or you you feel something? No.
Jamie:Leave mine on. I like hearing myself.
Scott:Yeah. I do too when it sounds normal.
Jamie:Doesn't sound normal. Yeah. We'll work on
Scott:it. Yeah.
Jamie:Okay. We'll definitely work on it.
Scott:Anyhow, alright. So Hockey is upon us. Hockey is upon us and you know Can't hide anymore. No. Can't hide.
Scott:It's in full swing, but I do want to shout out you. Me? Wanna shout out you. What I do. Well, not only are you a tremendous individual.
Jamie:Thank you.
Scott:Welcome. But I also just want to thank you for the invite to the Yankee game the other night with Otto and I.
Jamie:My pleasure. That fun.
Scott:That was a night to remember for sure. That was Otto's first baseball game.
Jamie:It was fun.
Scott:Yeah. That was good. He was definitely
Jamie:He had a good time? I think
Scott:he learned quickly how unlikely it is you're gonna catch a foul ball at a game. But that said, I know he had a great time, and I had a great time, and it was, like, great to be in that atmosphere.
Jamie:Yeah. Yeah. Was fun.
Brad:You said we were in
Scott:a lively section. Yeah. Yeah. It was a
Jamie:Good section. Great.
Scott:Yeah. I had tons of fried food, which, you know, is
Jamie:Not exactly the most healthy.
Scott:No. No. Yeah. My my heart is not thanking people.
Jamie:Glucose meter delicious. My glucose meter that I was wearing did not didn't was not happy with me that day. It was saying that you're It did not like me. Messed up. Didn't it wasn't the what the readings were not were no bueno.
Scott:No. But but fun was had. Yeah. Was had. And then
Jamie:I'm not diabetic or anything. I was just wearing it to just like play around my glucose, keep it low to eat healthy foods. And that night, there were a lot of
Scott:You did some learnings.
Jamie:A lot of aggressive spikes on the meter Yeah. On my phone.
Scott:But it turned out to be like a really awesome awesome weekend. And, you know, then Otto I mean, came came back to the house with us, spent the night, then I took the boys to Yes. You did. Hockey at 05:30 in the morning.
Jamie:Yes. You did. And Don
Scott:was so funny, So they slept in the basement. Yeah. When I opened up the door to start hollering at them at around 04:15.
Jamie:Yeah. That must have been fun.
Scott:The auto was like, this is normal like, I'm getting up. Oh, what the fuck? What is this? And then Don was like, oh, I feel great.
Jamie:I'm assuming that was a sarcastic I feel great.
Scott:You know? He came up and he was ready to go.
Jamie:I put a
Scott:bagel and he bagel butter, ousted.
Jamie:Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. He likes she likes bagel butter.
Scott:Got on the ice. The kid, he looked nice. He looked did not have a great game. It happens. He actually looks like he had two left feet.
Jamie:It it happens to all of our children.
Scott:Yes. Yeah. Yeah. It never happens to me, only to But in any event yeah. No.
Scott:Then then then we went down to the quarry.
Jamie:Then you guys went you took the kids down to the quarry. That was cool of you. Yep.
Scott:Dom's a great dude, man. Like, you know, he he he was, like, cautious insofar as, like, you know, just didn't
Jamie:Yeah.
Scott:Without thinking it through or he was asking for, like, tips and, like, we wanted to see Otto do something or he tried it. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. But, like, he didn't he didn't have any moments.
Scott:I think when he was there's three different diving boards and on all three, he did, like, front flips of all three. He only did a backflip off the lower one.
Jamie:Okay.
Scott:And he he didn't have, like, you know you know, like, you see people, they walk to the edge and they look over, and they're like, yeah.
Brad:I'm not doing it.
Scott:Yep. Walked back and forth, up and down.
Jamie:He just
Scott:kind of looked walked up and when
Jamie:Took a peek.
Scott:And he just went. Yeah. And I was like, dude, good on you, man.
Jamie:Yeah. He yeah. I I don't but yeah, he's not afraid of many things.
Scott:Oh, you know? He's a
Jamie:He was afraid of I'm just joking. Totally joking. Other than me, totally joking. Totally joking. Although, I think having a healthy fear of your parents is not a bad thing.
Scott:To an extent. To an extent.
Jamie:Yes. A 100%. Yes.
Scott:But yeah, no, it was great. It was a pleasure to have over here. Nice man. It's to say like that Yankee game kicked off like a domino effect. Was like, you know, just the boys had a good time together and
Jamie:so Yeah.
Scott:Shout out you man.
Jamie:Appreciate it and likewise, thank you for bringing them them down to the quarry that you know, apparently a bunch of people are enjoying the pictures that Orly put up on our social media. Yeah, bunch of people are looking at it today and I've commenting on not been there. You took the boys down there, that was great. I don't know how you guys were functioning when you got back at like 05:00.
Scott:Functioning so well. You know, we didn't even come back. We after we dropped off Dom
Jamie:Yeah.
Scott:I was on the phone with Orly. First of all, my so my electric car, I've never driven it so low in terms of like
Jamie:Oh, is that right? Oh, you you were so you were like you were like scraping the bottom of the barrel like electricity wise? Percent. Were you?
Scott:Four percent. I don't know.
Jamie:What's the lowest you've ever got to? 4%. Oh, what what was the second lowest you ever got? Percent. Oh, so this was like okay.
Scott:Four, but like the the the icons on the car
Jamie:They start shutting off.
Scott:No. They started changing.
Jamie:Well It went from like a It's in power save mode.
Scott:It didn't it didn't say power save mode. It told me to to lay off of the accelerator.
Jamie:I'm sure, probably not use the AC. I turned it on anyway. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Scott:Thing I was concerned about was, you know, whether or not when it gets down to like single digits, whether or not it actually Yeah. Does what it says it has. Like, if it says 4% and like 20 miles
Jamie:Right. For example Maybe it's
Scott:really like Like maybe it's
Jamie:7% and like 29 or 30 miles Yeah.
Scott:Or less.
Jamie:You would hope it would have some sort of a buffer. I yes. A 100%. Hope. Right?
Scott:So in any event, that that worked out. But what I was gonna say after we left, Don, you know, your place, just love Don. Met Orly and Noah for dinner and then like Oh, you did? Oh my god. We went to to Riverside to the mall.
Scott:Sweet Greens was, like, out of
Brad:a hole.
Jamie:Was there a charging place you could jump into there? No. I I just You didn't charge?
Scott:I didn't even charge. I was I was going for it just to see, like, what happened. I figured I had enough, but nonetheless, then it was a it was a long night. Slept.
Jamie:So let me ask you a question. When you got home, what percentage were you at?
Scott:Was it four?
Jamie:Oh, when you got home, you were four. I thought you had four
Scott:at my 6%. No. I don't know what it doesn't matter. Either way Got it.
Jamie:So you got home at four. 4%. Okay.
Scott:Yeah. So, Now I'm I'm feeling a little more Yeah. Confident in like what's gonna happen when the battery starts getting low.
Jamie:Well, so I mean my buddy has a Rivian and I'm pretty sure that once you start getting low and it definitely like powers off a lot of the functions that you correct.
Scott:Oh, if it does that it didn't alert me.
Jamie:I'm pretty sure most of them I'm pretty sure that's like a standard maybe I'm wrong, I could be totally off about that. I would think they would all do that, no, just to kind of pull power, you know, if it's not necessary. Yeah, I don't know. To like the important stuff, I don't know, moving the car forward.
Brad:Sure.
Jamie:You know? Yep. But no, that was fun, man. It was a of fun. The gate the game was fun.
Jamie:You you you well, you had the chicken the chicken bucket because I I bought it and brought it home, then we ate it on the podcast that one episode. I don't remember what episode it was. But you actually saw it live now from the Yes. Stadium in person. The Otto had it, and you had it from the stadium.
Jamie:Yes. Which is, I mean, I'm assuming it tasted the same to you.
Scott:Exactly the same. Yeah. I will say though that like
Brad:for the
Jamie:first It's a hit though, dude.
Scott:Yeah. I I totally see why it's a hit. Yeah. I get it. But I will say, like, when so Dom had gotten Yeah.
Scott:Was apple pie ice cream
Jamie:Apple pie nachos. Which was
Scott:I I have to say the amount of food I got for $11 and the amount of food you got for $13 Yes. Was wildly
Jamie:The Nancy said when you go she gave sections. She's like, there's a good humor, you know, she's like apple pie nachos. And I didn't realize when we walked up to the ice cream chicken bucket place, it actually they actually were selling the apple pie nachos there. So Donald got it there in a Yankee helmet. This was not a small Yankee helmet, by the way.
Jamie:No. Like, normally, you think of the small mistake?
Scott:Like she grabbed the wrong size. That thing was acid, bro.
Jamie:So if if you look at the picture, it wasn't in the helmet, but it was in a larger bowl. Yeah. You know? So It was a lot of calories. It was a lot of food.
Jamie:It was it was a lot of ice cream. Was like it was like ice cream.
Scott:It could have been like three to four pounds.
Jamie:It was like blue and white sprinkles for the Yankees. Right? Like whipped cream. I don't know if there's cherry maybe in there, but the nachos were like waffle cone pieces. Right.
Scott:That were like
Jamie:That were like, well, not nacho size.
Scott:Yes. Right? The only thing I'd say though is that like it was they were buried underneath. They were. There was no like using the waffle to scoop up the ice cream.
Jamie:You had to turn it over.
Scott:Which which was
Jamie:It was it was work. Did you I mean, it was also messy to get down to it. Yeah. Right? Like to get to the the waffle cone pieces where it was work.
Jamie:Yep. You know? But yeah, man, it was cool. It was it was was was a good time. It was it was a nice night of baseball.
Jamie:Getting in and out of the stadium was wasn't was was easy, it was just perfect, know. So then again, we left a little early because you guys weren't getting because all of a sudden at the game, you know, they decided to take Dominic the next morning to play in a men's league game, Scott's men's league game without him. So they were gonna wake up at 4AM or 04:15, whatever time you guys woke up. So we kinda called it a night early. Yeah.
Jamie:So it was good. Yeah. Worked out nicely.
Scott:Yeah. It was good. Boys had fun. So Yeah. Good stuff.
Scott:Then and then fast then after the next day, so that was that That was Saturday. Then Sunday, you had you're hockeying already. So, yeah. You've played the scene a few times already.
Jamie:So, we did. So, so let me let me back up first because so we so yes. So, we went out we did you took the boys to the to the Hoboken Quarry Saturday.
Scott:Yes. That's correct. Saturday.
Jamie:Right. So they did the men's league game. So we were supposed to play in a three on three that morning. Right. Right.
Jamie:Saturday morning. Okay? We backed out because we had stuff to do, and then the boys wound up playing in a in the early morning game with you anyway, so it worked out. So the team that Dominic was supposed to be on was a bunch of his of the kids on his team for the season. Okay?
Jamie:And what I found out, like, later in the I guess it was Saturday evening. Did I find guess it was Saturday evening. No. No. Because I told you about it when you dropped off Dominic.
Jamie:Yeah. So I found out about while you guys were at the quarry.
Scott:Right.
Jamie:Okay? One of the defensemen on our team, they got a pretty nasty skate cut to his right arm. Yeah. Like, pretty vicious, dude.
Scott:That's really scary stuff.
Jamie:Dude, like, it like it kinda started on on like the side Yeah. Of his Yeah. I'm looking at of his wrist. Yeah. Yeah.
Jamie:Yeah. If you guys can see, started on the side of his wrist and kinda went this way and then kinda curled over toward No. It curled over toward the underside. It did it stopped there. It stopped like right here.
Jamie:Right? Thank thank God it stopped where it stopped. Yeah. Thank God his arm wasn't turned, you know, the other way.
Brad:Yeah. Yeah.
Jamie:Yeah. So, yeah, unfortunately, I I I think the story is like he went he he he went in I don't if he's on a breakaway or but he went he like scored a goal and then kind of like slid into the goalie from what I understand, and then something happened. Right? He got cut. And he got cut.
Jamie:Pretty it pretty nasty.
Scott:It was definitely a skate.
Jamie:Oh, yeah. Right. Unless somebody shot him from the rafters.
Scott:No. Don't Like you're you're
Jamie:not gonna get opened up like that from anything else.
Scott:Okay.
Jamie:Yeah. Know, so yeah, no, he it was so I guess they they took him off the ice quickly, know, one of our other defensemen who was playing that three on three, his father's a doctor, so he was there. And then apparently there was another doctor in the building, so they kind of brought him, I think into the lobby, and and and Doctor. Z wrapped him up pretty good. Yeah.
Jamie:You know, so good thing he was there and another doctor, so they they kinda, you know, packed packed the wound and kind of, you know, wrapped him up. And then they took him to to Westchester Hospital? Yeah. Westchester Med Center. Yeah.
Jamie:Which which is not close, but it's a trauma center.
Scott:Okay. Then and across the bridge.
Jamie:Yes. Yeah. Yes. Correct. You know, so they took him to a trauma center, you know, because and I think there's a pediatric wing there as well.
Jamie:So they took him to like a major hospital.
Brad:Yeah.
Jamie:You know, I think they were worried, but luckily, he didn't hit an artery, thank God. Right? But it's pretty vicious, buddy.
Scott:Yeah.
Jamie:Like and he's out for like five or six weeks, which sucks. We saw him yesterday. We had our team had a game yesterday up in Brewster, and he came, which was he was a trooper. You know, his mom his mom's the manager of our team. So Oh, yeah.
Jamie:So like, I felt bad because it's almost like she can't miss games, you know what I mean? But the listen, I mean it's so they were both troopers, they both came and and and you know, and and Chris came and I felt bad for him. But he looks good. He's in good spirits, know. So hopefully hopefully he heals no problem and and is back out there in no time.
Scott:And tendons are okay, like mobility is okay?
Jamie:Yep. I think so.
Scott:That's that's great because you could also get really jammed up with that stuff.
Jamie:A 100% dude. On your arm. Another Especially on the top of
Brad:your arm
Jamie:too. Right. You know, so but I guess if, listen, if you're gonna get it on the wrist like that, you want it there and not on the underside. Oh, for sure. Because the underside is scary.
Scott:No. Right? No doubt.
Jamie:Yeah. You know, that could have been scary. Yeah. You know, so that's why listen, we talk about Titan Battle Gear all the time here. Mean, we we do it for a reason.
Jamie:You know? You know, they have a shitload of protection, from from your wrist all the way up to, your mid forearm. You know? It's there for a reason. It's it's very cut resistant for a reason.
Jamie:Yeah. You know? God forbid, you don't want your kid to come in contact. If you can avoid it, please try to avoid it.
Scott:Yeah. And and and one of the the selling points with using a base layer and not just wearing like a neck guard Yeah. Is that the base layer has well, not all of them, but some like Titan, and there are some others that have cut protection on the wrist. Correct. Which you're not gonna get in some of the major brands.
Jamie:Bauer and CCM have shit.
Scott:You're not gonna have it on your wrist, but then also
Jamie:Let's call a spade a spade. It's shit. It's nothing. It's a fucking t shirt on your on your arm. Right.
Jamie:Yeah. They have they have neck protection. That's it. And the neck protection is shit also.
Scott:But if but if you are just wearing neck neck protection, like a Velcro neck guard, which you see a lot of some kids do that also.
Jamie:Dude, those things are fucking stupid. I'm sorry.
Scott:You never see the one
Jamie:They're fucking retarded. Like, go buy a fucking base layer that your kid has to has to slide on. That way, like, a skate's not gonna go under it. Right. Like, the the neck guard that you use that you Velcro on won't move.
Jamie:Like, just go buy a fucking base layer. Yeah. Like, we pay enough for this goddamn sport, like go buy yourself a fucking base layer. Like, don't be stupid. Because you know what, God forbid something happens to your kid, and they don't come back from this, God forbid, knock on wood, Jesus Christ.
Jamie:Right? Like, you know, God forbid, like, I'm telling you, you will fucking regret that for the rest of your life. Because you could because it could've it could've been avoided. Yeah. Right?
Jamie:It could've been avoided.
Scott:I I would like to think so.
Jamie:Titan Battle Gear should make a fucking killing now, and they should make a killing. Because they're the only ones that came out with really, really good shit. There's a couple other ones out there, you know, but Titan Battle Gear seems to have the most cut resistant protection out there of any of the companies. We've looked at it, we trust our kids in Titan Battle Gear. We're not just saying that for any reason, like we really trust our kids.
Jamie:I just brought Scott two two two or three, I brought him two Titan Battle Gear bass layers just now, before we started recording that Dominic grew out
Brad:of.
Jamie:Yeah. Fucking worm.
Scott:Yeah. Right? 100%.
Jamie:I don't care if they're pink, green, I don't care if they have fucking Hello Kitty on them, because sometimes they sell out of this stuff because people are buying it. I don't care what it looks like, fucking buy one for your kid. Right? No matter what it is. If it just buy something to have them protected.
Jamie:And then once they get the colors in that you want, go buy more. Right? Just do something. Yeah. Right?
Jamie:Yeah. Anything is Protection better than
Scott:is important.
Jamie:This is the third major laceration, like major laceration that we've seen on our team, like really close. We had a kid last year who cut right above his knee. Yep. Huge laceration right above
Scott:his knee. Which ended up becoming something
Jamie:No. That was the okay. So the first one was, one of our forwards, older brothers. He cut right above his knee, same idea, and that turned into a major surgery. Yeah.
Jamie:Because the tendons under the it was such a deep cut to like his is like it's kind of like above the knee, the thigh, you know, or the quad, I guess maybe. It was such a deep cut that the underside never healed. The top part healed, but the underside didn't. So a month later he had like a major problem and then had to have a major surgery.
Scott:Right.
Jamie:Right? That was number one. Then during our season, that was an older brother of ours. Then during our season, it happened to a player of ours while we were in Hershey, we were at some we were at some showcase somewhere. Yeah.
Jamie:Happened to a player of ours. You know, it happened that he the kid happened to go down and and the kid caught him in a certain way and then it sliced his leg. Scary stuff. He had he same idea. Scary stuff.
Jamie:Right? And now this, you know, and and and, you know, again, if it can be prevented, I mean, like and again, Titan doesn't have they don't have pants yet. Right? The pants are coming. We we we I forgot what episode it was, go back and look, Andre Stavillier, which is the CEO of Titan Battle Gear, we had him on, and then the pants are in production, you know, they're trying to figure them out and figure out what the cost is gonna be, So they're working on that, but go get the upper the top base layer.
Jamie:Yeah. If you can if you can have any sort of protection, like people that wear t shirts under their their shoulder pads, you're just asking for a problem.
Scott:Well, I'll say this, like, there was a last week was it last week? I forget already, but I skated with a new group one night. And one of the one of the dads that was, you know, only dads, but, like, one of the guys on the that we were skating with, he was wearing tight battle gear under our but like no one else was wearing anything even like, not even a neck guard, myself included. It
Jamie:is so foolish.
Scott:I know.
Jamie:It's so foolish. I mean, God forbid and you don't know when it's gonna happen. The these kids didn't expect that to happen to them.
Scott:No. No one listen. Accidents are accidents because 100 know percent. When and how they're coming.
Jamie:Right. And what I was talking to one dads yesterday in in the lobby outside, you know, outside the rink, after our our kids game yesterday. And he was saying, he's like, Jamie's like, you know, he's like he's like, with all the the at home skate sharpness. Right? We'll talk about that shortly too.
Jamie:With all the at home skate sharpeners, mean, and I with all the better steel that's out now, I mean, edges are being held and sharpened regularly.
Scott:Yep.
Jamie:Right? You so the steel is sharper for longer, and it's super sharp because everybody's got an at home sharpener, so nobody's missing a sharpen, Right? Because it's convenient now, you know. So I don't know if it's the the steel is better and the blades are now sharper or what it is, but you're or more kids are playing, so the numbers are going up. But I I've now seen three major cuts, just two, like, in our little sphere.
Jamie:Yeah. So I can't imagine what it's like around the globe. Gotta be the same.
Scott:It's like not common, but it's also not uncommon at this point either. It's also, you know, kids are also carrying two sets of blades with them. Also, that's like another thing that's contributing to like, you know Right. Sharp, you know, sharp blades everywhere.
Jamie:Yeah. So we don't want to see that happen to anybody. God forbid something happens to a kid and and it's we don't want that to see it happen to anybody. Right. So please, just shoot the lock off your wallet and go by yourself, or go by yourself if you play, and your kids especially, you know, some Titan Battle Gear stuff.
Jamie:Or something, just do something with some wrist and some neck protection. If you don't wanna pony up the money for Titan, fine. Just go buy something. Yeah. Anything.
Jamie:Right?
Scott:I I dude, I'm with you. Right. I'm with you on that.
Jamie:So, you know, so yeah. So so Dom Dom's team had a game yesterday. That was that was that was cool. How'd they look? They look good.
Jamie:A couple kids weren't there. We're missing maybe a couple forwards and well, obviously, one defenseman that got hurt in the game on on the three and three on Saturday, obviously didn't play. You know, but it was good, you know. I thought the kids were moving the hockey puck well, so that was good. Good.
Jamie:Dominic broke a stick. No. Swear to God. No. Brand new stick that we got Monday.
Scott:This is confirmation. Well, hold on. No, there's not a I don't give a shit. Adam started telling me about about this this new stick, and then he said to me, dad, it's like the lightest one on the market. I'm like, the only thing that that signals to me is
Jamie:that It's breakable. Is gonna break what do you mean? They're all breakable. They are, but more breakable. Yeah.
Scott:Sorry. Any expensive stick that he's had has broken in ways that are just like, you gotta be fucking kidding me. So, I I don't I'm not even gonna let him spend his own money
Jamie:So, I think sticks. I think think it. Our last episode, I think I mentioned that Dominic had a brand new stick. Right? So, he got the brand new fuse.
Jamie:Right? And I think I I think we got it I think we got it like last Monday. So it was like eight days old. And it broke. Oh, okay.
Jamie:So it it did break. It broke it broke. It it Dominic was on the far post and kinda just like holding his stick, kinda like and and and he got crushed from behind, and it just happened to like right under his glove where the handle is. Mhmm. Like like literally like where the tape ends like two inches below the tape Yeah.
Jamie:Just happened to like hit the post Mhmm. And it snapped around the post. So he got cross checked into the goal, and it snapped around the post.
Scott:I mean
Jamie:So it didn't break it didn't break from a shot, didn't break from like a wrist shot or like a one timer or a slap shot. It broke from him like going into the post, and not hard either. If you see the replay, you're like, what?
Scott:That's I mean
Jamie:And and it's funny because I didn't even, because I said like, I wonder why he didn't drop it, and I went back and looked at the video and the whistle blew like literally as it happened. So like, didn't have time to drop the stick. Mhmm. So then he I see him go I see him like go over to the bench, then he comes toward the door to go to the locker room. And I was like, is he having like a gear issue?
Scott:Right.
Jamie:And then and then he the ref opens the door for him because he couldn't he couldn't jam the stick. He he couldn't jam the stick into the the into the little bumper to open the door because because the butt end was gone. So he's like jamming like Oh, the broken stick into right? So the ref came over and helped him open the door, and one of our dads came down to open the door. Actually, doctor Z who kind of administered a little bit of first aid to, you know, our our defenseman that got cut the day before.
Jamie:So he opened the door and Dominic looks at the stands of me and he goes like this, and he shows me a stick and it's broken from like the like the handle. Oh. And I was like, holy shit. I'm like, we so it was a week old. So I actually went to this morning, we went to pure hockey because Dominic needed a new pair of shin guards.
Scott:Oh.
Jamie:Because he's using like his like
Scott:Like first year Mike shin guards?
Jamie:Mike shin guards, they are tiny. So he's he's got like big boy shin guards now. Maybe Congratulations. Maybe we'll start blocking shots, unlikely but maybe. Maybe.
Jamie:So now he's got a little more protection on the shins. So, but we we actually brought the stick back to pure hockey and they swapped it out for another one.
Scott:Okay. Well, I mean that's a good solve but just wait until the the warranty ends and then
Jamie:Do you know what he's do you what he said to me? What? So he the guy the guy at the front counter at Pure Hockey. What? He's like, by the way, he's like, if this one breaks, there's no warranty on it.
Scott:Oh, you only get it's I was like for one you only get one replacement per purchase.
Jamie:I was like That makes
Scott:no fucking sense. If it breaks, it breaks.
Jamie:I was like, really? He's like, I'm like, wait a minute. I'm like, so if this breaks in like two weeks and I'm still in like the thirty day window, I'm like, I can't get a new stick? He's like, nope. I'm like, really?
Jamie:Why? He's like, because in every room we're breaking their sticks at like twenty eight, twenty nine days. And I'm like, no. I don't think it's true to you.
Scott:I I think there maybe is some truth to that.
Jamie:I mean, there's gotta be a better way to do that.
Scott:I I would yeah. I'll tell you. Don't buy the fucking stick.
Jamie:Don't buy the expensive stick. Don't buy
Scott:the expensive stick.
Jamie:Yeah. I I mean, I guess you could probably also, like, bypass them and call Bauer and be like, listen, you know, my stick broke.
Scott:Yeah. When you were when you send things in, you have to send serial numbers, you have to send pictures of where it broke.
Jamie:Have you done that? Yeah. You've sent them into Bauer?
Scott:I sent one because I had a fly light that broke on the twenty ninth day or something like really
Jamie:bring it back to pure hockey?
Scott:I just did it from home.
Jamie:You
Scott:did? Yep. I did it from home be oh, because it was a custom stick, and I did get it from pure hockey.
Jamie:Okay. This was, yeah, this was a regular, like, blue one that's in mass retail stores.
Scott:It broke. Then you got a new one and then that one broke again after
Jamie:They gave you another one, right?
Scott:No, it was after the thirty day, the second time it broke.
Jamie:So they wouldn't do it?
Scott:It was out of warranty.
Jamie:How far out of warranty?
Scott:Enough where I didn't even look. Okay.
Jamie:So they wouldn't do it.
Scott:But it was not long enough for me to be like, that was a good purchase.
Jamie:Right.
Scott:Like it's not. It's just it's just not. And if I hear it's die one more time, I might hurt myself.
Jamie:Yes. Yeah. No. It's no. You're not wrong about that.
Jamie:You know, it's it you know, you know, it's funny. They're they're trying to make these sticks more whippy and more light and lighter, like you said. And and unfortunately, you know, you're probably messing with the integrity of the stick. Right? To a point.
Scott:Of course, you are.
Jamie:You have to
Scott:be. Yeah. I mean, we when we when we learned about how they put flex in sticks, I mean, it's just Yeah. This is like a systematic bending
Jamie:From Zachariah from Swift. Yeah. Yeah. That was very interesting episode two. Yeah.
Jamie:So anyway but Unfortunately.
Scott:Well, listen. I'm glad Dom ended up getting a new stick. That's good news. You and me both. And I'm glad they won, and the team's looking pretty okay.
Jamie:Not bad.
Scott:Yeah. So that's good news. I'm sorry that that came about hurting.
Jamie:Yeah. I think we all are. So I hope But he's okay.
Scott:Yeah. Sending well wishes to him.
Jamie:Yeah. Hopefully, gets back soon. You know? And Seems like he'll make a full recovery.
Scott:Yeah. Okay. Good. Yeah. Good.
Scott:Good.
Jamie:Yeah. So he should be fine.
Scott:And I don't know. Well, I think we should think about kicking it over to our our interview for today.
Jamie:Definitely can. You wanna you wanna have at that?
Scott:Yeah. Sure. So today well, you know, we didn't record it today, but Right. Today's episode Yes.
Jamie:Recorded a couple two days ago.
Scott:Yes. So we were joined by Brad Serkin, who's the co founder of
Jamie:Pacific days ago.
Brad:I take
Jamie:that back. Three it was a little more than two days ago. Yes.
Scott:Yes. Yes. But Brad Serkin joins us. He's the cofounder of Pacific Rink, a brand that took hockey bags from pretty much like,
Brad:I don't
Scott:know, say like an afterthought, but into like illegitimate piece
Jamie:of equipment. The forefront.
Scott:Yeah. To like a legitimate piece of equipment. So he started the company with his brother Jay.
Jamie:Jason? Yeah. Yeah. Brother Jason. And his son, Jack, is now very involved.
Jamie:Correct. Yeah. Yeah. It's like a it's a family business now.
Scott:Yeah. And now Pacific Ring has become one of the most, like, recognizable
Jamie:They're everywhere. Bags. He sees them in Europe too.
Scott:A 100%. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Scott:But they and they also are in the lifestyle business. They've got, you know, hats and t shirts and all in all of
Jamie:their The clothing brands. Yep. Yep. 100%.
Scott:And and according to their website, it's now trusted by more than 30,000 customer.
Jamie:I'm not even a little bit surprised. So You see them in every rank you walk into.
Scott:Yeah. So he's They're everywhere. He's had a long history of, you know, being connected to hockey. It was a great conversation with him.
Jamie:Yeah. He's a great dude.
Scott:Yeah. And Yeah. Yeah. Super excited.
Jamie:We're thrilled to be partners with him.
Scott:Yes. That's exactly what I was gonna say. Thrilled to be partners. So let's, kick it over to Brad.
Jamie:Alright. Everybody, enjoy Brad Serkin from Pacific Rink. Alright, everybody. We have a treat tonight. We have the founder and CEO or one of the founders and CEOs of Pacific Rink, Brad Serkin.
Jamie:Brad, thank you so much. Everybody knows who you are already because, you know, because, your your logo is plastered all over our stuff and all over our podcast now. But, thanks for taking some time to hang out with us tonight.
Brad:Yeah. Thanks for having me. No. I appreciate it. It's
Scott:So
Brad:It's go for it.
Jamie:Yeah. Yeah. No. I just say, give us a little, kind of like a little background on kinda how you got into this business, and obviously, you had some kids that played that we know about. So tell us the story.
Brad:Yeah. So back in 2015, my brother Jason and I were were kicking around the idea. My both my kids were in travel hockey. You know, I was playing beer league, and it was one of those things that, my brother at the time, he was traveling, here and there for different tournaments in Minnesota and what have you. And, you know, he busted through three bags in a year.
Brad:And, his last bag that he had, he was in the airport, came down the the old luggage chute, and, you know, his equipment was or his equipment and his his stuff was just kinda scattered all over the place. And so we were, you know, we we were ruminating for a while as to our my next business venture or our next business venture, I should say. And it was one of those that we were like, alright. Well, we've gotta figure out this problem. And so, we kinda we started playing with it.
Brad:We went out, built a prototype, kinda tested it out, sent it out to a handful of people to to test the bag, see what they thought. And but, basically, it was, you know, a venture of yeah. We all we all spend thousands of dollars on our hockey equipment, but, you know, the bags are usually an afterthought. And so it was it's just trying to find something that was built for a hockey player instead of just a big duffel bag that everybody threw their stuff in and made it work. And so that was kind of where it came in into to fruition.
Brad:Took about a year, a lot of lot of hand wringing, a lot of, testing, trying to figure out, you know, the best that we could, products that we could put together and all those all those things related. And, so we launched in 2016 actually at the Minnesota Hockey tournament in in there in Saint Paul. Very good. That was our our first foray, if you will, in in coming out and seeing, you know, would will the market bear and and decide that that this was something that was worthwhile? And, you know, it's, it it it's been, ten plus years, and it's been a been a great ride at this point.
Brad:So
Jamie:That's right. You guys just, you guys just, celebrated ten years. Correct?
Scott:Yeah. Congrats.
Brad:We did. Just, just yeah. Just it just, just over ten years at this point and counting. Yeah, it's been it's been a great ride. It's been something that's, you know, we've had a lot of fun with.
Brad:My son Jack has joined the company, and so it's it's been and obviously, we have our staff and what have you, but it's, you know, it's it's been it's been really humbling. So, you know, very great gratitude for, you know, for where we're at and just looking at, you know, how we started and, you know, these days, you know, I'm in the rinks less than I used to be, now that my kids are adults.
Jamie:Right.
Brad:But, but, yeah, you you walk into Insert Name of Rink and, you know, you have one to 10 bags that you see in any given moment when when you're going through. It doesn't matter where I've been. I mean, I've seen our Ponpaks on cruise ships. I've seen our you know, seen bags, you know, in the airport. It's just, you know, it's it's just just to to to think where we started with nothing and, you know, and here we are today.
Brad:And, you know, so it's been it's been great and, you know, continues to be great.
Scott:Let me let me ask you a question. So when you first started out in designing bags, I'm curious about, like, maybe some of the initial things that you thought were, like, a must have feature on a bag that maybe after you got some market research back, like, was no longer or vice versa? Like, kinda like, what was, like, the iteration process worth of a process like, like, getting feedback from, you know, the customers, etcetera? Like, was there a lot of that, like, iterations or or not not really?
Brad:To be honest, there was not a lot of iterations as far as the initial run with the bag. I mean, we learn we learned along the way. I mean, our our, you know, for example, our, initial bag, the backpack straps were on the bottom of the back. I think we call them we call them our hideaway backpack straps. And Mhmm.
Scott:You know,
Brad:after our first duration, we kinda learned, hey. Yeah. No one wants to put the the wants to put the rink on their back when they, leave the rink. So, you know, we've we've moved them into a side pocket and brought them up. But, you know, a lot of a lot of the thought was put into, you know, talking to other players, talking to other goalies, talking to, you know, coaches, trying to figure out what was their biggest pain points.
Brad:And so that really helped in the process because it was one of those, you know, like, for example, you know, we were we were to my knowledge the first company to put, you know, something other than a black interior in the bag. And, you know, and I can't tell you how many times you go to a rink and, you know, you go to a a practice a game or what have you, and the kid goes, hey. I can't find my mouth guard. And, you know, more often than not, it's buried buried in some corner, you know, under something else, or they just didn't see it. And, you know, and but it's in a black bag, you know, and and especially with items that are that are darker, you just don't you're you're not seeing them.
Brad:And, you know, the same thing goes as, you know, by the beast, skate sleeves. You know? I mean, you spend $6.07, $800 or more on a on a pair of skates. I mean, obviously, they they have less ones as well, but, you know, but we do nothing to really protect them there. You know?
Brad:If you if you put on, you know, put a soaker on, what have you, that's great. But, you know, having a place where you can put them. And, you know, I I can't tell you how many parents that reach out and go, you know, for my kid who's disorganized, they're able to, you know, put everything in its place, and they can see it, they can find it.
Scott:Yeah. You know,
Brad:I'm not I'm not getting, called to the locker room to go fix you know, find this or, know, when they're packing their bag, they know exactly where they put everything. And so it's a lot of it is a lot of it was built with their I mean, over the years, we've we've continued to modify the bag. A few companies have knocked us off, you know, but it's one of those that the the we're using the same original fabric that we did to begin with. We're using the same linings that we used to we used to. So those things those things have stood the test of time.
Brad:And it's so it's been one of those things. We've tried different fabrics. We've tried different products. We've tried different different things to try to make it better. And, you know, we're we're constantly looking to to make changes.
Brad:So there's always minor changes that most people wouldn't see when we when we go through or we'll strengthen up something or we'll change with what have you. But the basic bag itself has has mostly remained the same. I mean, you know, on packs, you know, we used to, you know, we used to do kind of a fold over system. Now you can do you can do an either or, you know, for the helmets. And so a lot of it is just, you know, it just continues to evolve.
Brad:And so we're, you know, we're we're in the midst of tearing the bags down in the sense that we're we're relooking at everything again, and seeing what we could do differently and what we can do better with it. You know, we've we've looked at everything. You know, we have what we believe is the best zipper on the on the planet, but, you know, doesn't always stand up. I mean, a 100% of the time doesn't stand up to a to a hockey blade to get stepped on it. So, you know, it's not it's not a 100%, but I mean, we've looked at Kevlar.
Brad:We've looked at we've looked at so many different things, and, you know but it's it's the unique function of the bag, the way the bag opens versus most hockey bags that are, you know, doctor bags, see where you, you know.
Jamie:Did we lose you, bud? Uh-oh. I think we lost our buddy Brad from
Scott:Pacific. Bounce back.
Jamie:Yeah. I'm sure it will. I gotta tell you, it's funny he's mentioning about the Skate Blade. Yeah, I don't think there's anything that's gonna Oh, he did say Kevlar. I mean, my goodness.
Jamie:Right? I mean, they make it very, I love the product. Listen, I've been using it forever, you know, so I'm super biased, but, you know, it's a fantastic product. And he's right, the zippers, I've flown. There he is.
Brad:Yeah, yeah. So, yeah, I'm not sure where we got cut off, but
Jamie:You were saying about the the kettlebell Yeah. And stuff like
Brad:So we yeah. We've we've met with our supplier trying to you know, we're we're looking at, you know, no no pun intended, a a bulletproof zipper, you know. But, I mean, we we we have tried we have tried everything, you know, to always constantly improve on on things. And so, you know, it's yeah. Biggest complaints we get from people is, hey.
Brad:Yeah. My my clip broke. Okay. You know, it's like, we'll send you a new one free of charge. I mean, it's like, you know, it's it's it's just things that, you know, you you can't protect for everything, and it's just, you know, I mean, you've you have kids, you know, kids running through the locker room, hockey blades on the bottom of their feet.
Brad:They you know? They're not paying attention to, oh, some kids bags over there or just Yeah. Straps on the Yeah. Exactly. And so a lot of a lot of the lot of things that, that you try to think of, going I mean, one of one of the changes coming in the fall will be you know, we're you know, we've had feedback from some customers saying, hey, love to have, removable straps for the backpack for the large bag.
Brad:And so we're we've been testing it out the last six months and just, you know, to have them detachable instead of their, you know, they're in the bag. I mean, they there'll always be a permanent sole just for the strength of it, but Right. To be able to thread it in and out. And, you know, we're we've been spending the last two years working on a wheel bag, and really, I mean, we've been I've been working with some of some individuals who, you know, who, you know, are are disabled veterans, what have you, that's that's, ultimately building a bag around their needs, and then ultimately, you know, extrapolating them out to, I'll call it, the general public. I mean, we've we've struggled for years the concept of a a wheel bag.
Brad:In fact, I've got I mean, I've got many prototypes, but, you know, if it's not gonna be unique, we don't wanna do it. But, yeah. We'll do veterans. Big big big thing for me. And so it's been one of those that, you know, been talking to different folks and trying to trying to get as best we can in all encompassing bags.
Brad:So those are the, you know, things that are coming out in the future. I mean, we've we we I can't tell you how many requests we get, you know. Can you make a a mid sized bag? Can you make a duffle bag? Can you make a, you know, a this or that?
Brad:And so it's, you know, it's it's it's the it's the everlasting, you know, we I'd I'd love to be all things to all people. Sure. But the other yeah. When you have to run 10,000 bags, it's like one of those, it's like, alright, you gotta make sure you do this right, because if you do it wrong, then you've got, you know Yes. You've got a lot of bags sitting there.
Brad:That's right. But but, you know, as as as you know, mean, it's like we've got, you know, 20 different iterations on the bag in the sets of colors and, you know, try to try to tie them into, you know, different teams or, you know, I mean, we do team bags separately, but it's more the the concept of, you know, we've got a bag for, you know, insert name of of NHL team. And so, you know, so those who wanna sport their their colors, you know, we we're we do our best to try to try to cover the spread, but, know, every year we do something unique or we come out with something different. And so it's just, yeah. Yeah.
Brad:It's it's it's fun because you can keep playing with it.
Jamie:So Yeah. It sounds like you're playing with it a lot with all these different changes. I like that.
Brad:Yeah. You know, it's it's you know, the main bag the main bag just continues to improve, but, you know, but the basic concept doesn't change. I mean, you know, I there there are bags out there with mats, so there are bags out there with, you know, insert you know? There's a guy there's a guy out there selling a bag with a refrigerator or a little little cooler thing into it. It's like, you know, you know, there's there's every different iteration.
Brad:And, again, it's like, you know, you you you can throw everything out there, but it's yeah. At the end of the day, people want a a good quality bag. It's gonna last them a long time. Yes. And it's gonna do do what it needs to do.
Brad:You know, it's my my experience in in in adult league is, you know, people bring big ice chests. They don't worry about throwing two or three in their own bag unless they're bringing it only for themselves.
Jamie:That's right.
Brad:So it's, so yeah. So for us, it's like yeah. We we we get a lot of different a lot of different suggestions on things, and we welcome them. We appreciate it. We do customer surveys twice a year.
Brad:Hey, what can we do better? What else would you like to see? What colors would you like to do? Then collaborate with other groups. I mean, we've done collaborations with Hockey's and you know, a group here in in Southern California, you know, different many many different companies that we've that we partner with over the years.
Brad:It's just it's a it's a small it's a small community. So I mean, it's it's obviously lots of people, but it's a small community.
Scott:Well, you brought up something so interesting that I definitely had never thought of before, but just like for the disabled folks and even like sled hockey, is that something that so I I don't know if there's necessarily a well, I I guess there's folks that are disabled that probably play regular hockey to some extent, but I guess I'm just thinking about, like, the equipment that folks that play sled hockey, like, with the sleds themselves and the smaller sticks and the sharp points at the end of the I don't know all the the names of all the things, the sticks, but, like, have you have you is that what you're working on on on for for sled hockey or that that's not something that Yeah.
Brad:I it's one of those things that's been in my head for years as far as how how to to to do it. And so people in individuals, folks that have those needs, we've been I've talked to bunch of those. We've we've been playing, you know, trying to make sure the durability is there. So if, you know, obviously, we don't want them to put their equipment in the bag and suddenly, you know, it goes through, you know, but making sure that they can attach it to if they're in a wheelchair or they're in, you know, in some in some capacity. And then but, again, tying it all around an all encompassing player bag, an all encompassing bag where, you know, it it anybody can put a can can put a wheel piece onto a bag and call it a wheel bag.
Brad:And and we and we have those, and some people are like, well, just put it out. And it's like, well, you know, it it I just I wanna make sure that we do it right. It's so it's so we're building we're building around that. It's the same thing, you know, we're working we've been working on a travel bag, and it's, you know, and and I mean, we have one obviously with our weekender, what have you, you know, for two or three days, but being able to have an incorporated bag where you can, you know, put everything together and then separate that bag and walk off with it. And so you can take, know, you take your bat you take your hockey equipment to the raid, but you leave the other stuff in the in the the hotel room or wherever you might be.
Brad:And so we've been working on, you know, just multiple designs and making sure that it's, you know, as as foolproof if you if you will, on that. And so, you know, there's a lot of exciting thing things coming, but it's it's we we don't bring something to market just to bring it. We bring it Right. You know, we you know, it's it's, you know, I've got a lot of requests lately for, you know, for, what do you call it? For, jersey bags or, you know, to carry your suits and carry your different things.
Brad:Oh, yeah.
Jamie:Like a garment bag.
Brad:Yeah. Garment bag. And and, you know, but, you know, it's it's like our puck bag. I mean, if you look at our puck bag, our puck bag is twice the size of any puck bag.
Jamie:Yes. It is. You're not wrong about that.
Brad:But, you know, but it was designed with a team actually, ironically, in Minnesota, but he came to us and said, hey. We'd love to design this. You know, I'm going I'm using, you know, big buckets, and I'm giving the guys, and they're carrying around, and they they call it it's clumsy. They don't wanna do it. Right.
Brad:And so we sat down and figured out, you know, what worked for them, and, you know, and then we sent it off to, a couple associations around the country and said, hey, test this out, see what you think, give us your feedback. And then so that's where it developed. And so it's it's not a traditional pocket puck bag. It's, you know, you're gonna it's but it's designed for for ones that, you know, that we really wanna carry those things. So every everything that we put our you know, we put out there, we put some focus into.
Brad:I mean, we did our we've done our custom apparel light and, you know, and, you know, high end polos, high end, you know, like bathing suits, you know, and then, know, and then we have our usual, you know, I'll call it our, you know, lace up hoodies and T shirts and, you know, so but but it's all it's all been something that we spend, you know, a significant amount of time. We just don't throw it out there all year round. It comes out at different points. And so we really it's done with intention, not just, you know, not just to throw it out there.
Jamie:Yeah. You could tell too. You could tell everything's done with intention. The durability and the quality of this stuff is fantastic. And that's why I I bought it for Dominic because I went through those bags for the first couple years and then I finally found, I don't even know how I stumbled upon Pacific Rink, to be honest with you, when Dominic was like seven, you know, and that's all we've had ever since.
Brad:It's awesome.
Jamie:Yeah. I mean, we, I say it on the podcast regularly. I mean, we've flown to Vancouver, Chicago, Tampa, Vegas. You know? I mean, we've never had any issues with it.
Jamie:And the weekender, as Scott knows, is, my favorite now. You know? I I've traveled not on hockey just for, like, you know, just for travel and see family with it all the time. Alright. So I have two questions for you, Brad, because I'm gonna forget them.
Jamie:I'm gonna ask both. So number one, how did you come up with the cool logo? Number two, where did the pond pack idea come from? Because that thing is so cool.
Brad:Yeah. So, my brother Jason is due credit for the pond pack. He was you know, he he played, Minnesota pond hockey, you know, eats. And so it was it was driven based on, yeah, I'll call it concepts of Edina, things, areas around there where you can just go out and play hockey out, you know, in the wintertime. I mean, it's one of the few few cities that I'm aware of at least that, you know, maintains near neighborhood rinks, goes out.
Brad:I mean, obviously, they've got you've got different rinks along the way. I mean, they're mean, lakes freeze over, what have you. But, you know, he he is like, look. I need a bag that I you know, I just need to be able to carry, you know, basic I don't need to be carrying everything. I don't need my chest pad.
Brad:I don't need what have you. Right. And so ultimately, the the bag was was driven based on that initial idea was, you know, and and it has evolved, and basically coaches are like, I can use this, and it's like, you know, they carry their skates. You know, for those who don't carry separate puck bags, they can throw 30 pucks in the in their in their bag.
Jamie:Helmet, gloves. Yep.
Brad:Yeah. You know, iPad, clipboards, what have you. I mean, I've been I've taken pawn packs with me, four days, five days worth of travel, you know, throw just throw your clothes in there. Know, you don't need a suit and tie, you know, that type of thing. It's it's it's an easy it's an easy to do.
Brad:Absolutely. But it's, know, it's big enough to do that, but you can put your helmet inside if you want. You can put it on the outside. You wanna put you don't want your skates in the outside skate sleeves, which are I mean, the blades are protected, but some people are like, I don't want my skates showing.
Jamie:Mhmm.
Brad:They throw them in the bag. Right. I mean, a unique feature of our bag, and it's I mean, that's I'll say it's the Pont Pack, but just flying, you can fly with your skates on a plane.
Jamie:Yeah.
Brad:In the plane, not down below. And so, you know, so that so a bag like that helps, especially if you're going somewhere, you know, you could protect your skates without them you know, you don't even have to send them onto the plane. You can carry them in that in that bag on the plane and and go with it. So Yeah. So it's was that was where, you know, that was driven as far as the design at least.
Brad:We we you know, he and I sat down, but it was his his idea. So I think it 100% give him credit for that. Okay. Uh-huh. I I apologize.
Brad:What was the other question was?
Jamie:The the logo. Logo. We'll go
Scott:over switch gears. I just wanna make one comment about the Sure. What you were just saying about flying with your skates. And it was, like, two summers ago, Otto played in a tournament over in Europe, and we'd never done, you know, flown overseas or whatever. And I guess it could happen domestically as well.
Scott:But a bunch of folks who had done something like that before, they said, listen. Make sure you fly with your skates. Don't put them underneath because it's the one thing you're not gonna be able to find that's gonna fit and work for you.
Jamie:So make sure you bring
Scott:them on the plane with you. And so we're like, yeah. That's totally makes sense. But the fact that the, you know, the pond pack actually accommodates that without having to, like, necessarily take up additional room in in the packets. I mean, that's that's brilliant.
Scott:It's a genius.
Brad:So Yeah. I appreciate that. So, yeah, it's it's it's it was it was, you know, again, unique to the market and was something that's, but, yeah, it's definitely definitely a big, you know, for coaches alike. It's you know, I can't tell you how many coaches. I mean, even when my kids were playing, you know, we would go to, let's say, Vegas and, you know, with one state over from us.
Brad:And, you know, they were like, oh, but I don't wanna carry all this stuff. And so they just throw everything in a bag for the weekend,
Jamie:and Right.
Brad:They were they were good to go. And but, you know, it's yeah. I'll get to logo in a second, but, yeah, it was one of the, you know, it was one of one of those things funny thing when we started the company. And, you know, the first thing first first response we get from from people is, what do you what do you what do you two know about hockey in California? I mean Oh.
Brad:There's no such thing as hockey in California. I mean, mind you, we have three pro teams here.
Jamie:Yeah.
Brad:But but, know, it's it's it's yeah. But, you know, it's it's hockey is bigger here than most people think. Oh, yes. You know? And, you know, and and obviously supporting three three major teams, you know, and the NHL is obviously is.
Brad:But, yeah, it was it's you know, I will say, you know, we he had a slight deficit coming in, you know, for someone who, let's say, lives in Minnesota or what have you. But just listening and talking to to folks and, you know, is really more than anything else drives drives the starting of the conversation of, you know, what do you know? Well, you know, here's what we've learned. Here's what we've done. Here's you know, all that stuff.
Brad:Right. But, as far as the logo's concerned, you know, I mean, honestly, it took us three months, you know, of hand wringing. We hired different designers to help us. You know, we settled in on a designer that we were happy with and and playing with it and, you know, different fonts and what have you. And I mean, even even the name Pacific Rink we struggled with because it's, you know I mean, I can't tell you you know, at times I get calls, you know, locally, hey, do you need help cleaning your rink?
Brad:You know, that type of thing. And it's like, so I mean, on that end of it, it is definitely, you know, it's, the implication is, is, you know, we're a rink, but obviously it's built around that. And Right. You know, as we as we've started to expand, you know, we've we're getting a lot of requests from cross and for other teams, basketball, soccer because
Jamie:Right.
Brad:Every because everything that we have, you know, if you take your skate sleeve and you modify it slightly, you can put basketballs or
Scott:you can
Brad:put softballs in. You can so the the bag bag is universal to to that, and we have a lot of people that call us and go, hey. Yeah. I use this I use this for my sports bag, and it's great. You know?
Brad:And and and I can I can throw on my back if I need to, you know, but it carries all my equipment? I could put my bats in, do all these different things. But, you know, from a name perspective, if I was looking at it ten years later going, well, maybe it should have been, you know, Pacific Sports in I mean, in in in that concept. But I mean, no regrets, no complaints. But it's yeah.
Brad:It's it's I I think that's probably for us, it's like when we when we created I mean, we own, you know, Pacific Rink, Pacific Rink gear supply. You know? So the gear supply obviously can extend extenuate on there. But Yes. Just over over the many years, it seems that that Pacific Rink became, you know, synonymous less so gear supply.
Brad:But, you know, it's still on our hats. It's still on, you know, on all that stuff. So we still I mean, it's still still one of, you know, one of many things we use. But yeah, we've the what we call the sheriff's badge became our, you know, our our, you know, I'll call it our primary logo for the bags, you know, sides. Yeah.
Brad:Just jumping back to ten seconds, you know, you ask, you know, what's evolved? So, like, when we first started, all the all the logos were screen printed. Now we do, you know, embroidery. So those are things that we've learned over the years. And so but we've made it more pronounced with everything that we do.
Brad:And so, you know, the different typesets, the different things, it's, you know, it's it's all part it's all part of the process. So
Jamie:Yeah. The sheriff's badge is great. It's one of my favorite parts of, you know, of the company. You know? It's it's yeah.
Jamie:Now, whosoever idea that was, that was a great idea. Was that like a nod to, like, the, like, Pacific troopers down there in in California? Or, is that where that came from?
Brad:If it did, I have no I I mean, I have no idea. I mean, our designer may yeah.
Jamie:I don't know.
Brad:You mean but, you know, we've but different things that we have come out with, I mean, our, you know, our our our green bag, if itself, you know, was, you know, after North Star there in in in Minnesota. So I mean, there there's always been different nods to different things as we as we go along Right. And and build it. So it's very possible somebody within the design outsource team goes like, hey, this sounds like a great know, I've seen this before. But, you know, it's the hard you know, to be honest, it's the hardest thing when we try to come out with new designs and new things is it's like, I feel like I've seen this before.
Brad:And you go and you look at some iteration of something. I mean, it's like it's like even movies these days. It's, you know, most of them are regurgitated or, you know, the same premise, you know, different names, what have you. You know, it's it's it's it's it's coming out with that. You know, sometimes it's just go with the tried and true, and then some of it's just, you know, yeah, finding that uniqueness.
Brad:But yeah. Specific on the sheriff logo, yeah, it took us about two months to really settle in on it. Not that we didn't like it, but just Yeah. Changing it, figuring out fonts, testing out things. So it was all part of the process.
Jamie:So, I I have a kind of a strange question. Not strange, but an entrepreneurial question. Sure. So what was something that happened along the way where you're like, wow, like, this is like, something happened along the way that, like, you thought the company was in jeopardy or something like that? Or was it smooth sailing from the first time you guys released your first bag then on?
Brad:You know, I I I would tell you I mean, it's never a dull moment in this industry. You know, if if I could tell you, you know, I could I could throw out this past twelve months and the tariffs and all the things that came along with that. I mean, that that, you know, added, you know, $500,000 plus to to our outlook as far as expenditures that we weren't planning on, you know, in in in the process. And, you know, and and, you know, if you look at our history, we just we didn't pass it on to the customer, but, you know, it's one of those things that we have to figure out how to pivot. I mean, it's a it's you know, it's if if you if you took even a basic premise of a 20%, you know, tariff or what have you, yeah, it's $20.30 bucks, you know, above and beyond our actual cost of the manufacturing.
Brad:It's one of those things that you can't, you know, I I can't go to go, well, you know, hey, guys. Yeah. The bag was, you know, $2.39. Now it's gonna be $2.69 in order for us to recoup.
Jamie:Right.
Brad:But, you know, I mean, we we launched on Kickstarter back in '20, late twenty fifteen, early twenty sixteen, just to see if there was there was, any efficacy for it. And we were very fortunate, as I mentioned earlier on. This is a small community, and we reached out to a couple folks and that I don't wanna use the word influencers, but people that were well known in the industry and said, hey. Check this out. If it's something you're interested in, let's talk.
Brad:You know, I'm I'm I'm grateful. I mean, I've been extremely grateful. We've had, you know, NHL players. We've had, you know, using the word influencers, people in the industry who have given us their time. We don't we don't pay for endorsements.
Brad:We don't know, it's one of those things that, you know, we've been very fortunate. I mean, I I I will tell you in the NHL, I think hockey players are probably the most approachable people you've you've gotten. I mean, you can you can, you know, versus NBA or other sports, whereas, you know, they're far rarer and it, you know, so this is a community that supports each other. So we've been, we've been really grateful over the years that, you know, we've been able to, do things. So I mean, I'll give a shout out to Brett Burns.
Brad:Our camo color was based on a conversation we had with him and design. We And never partnered with him or anything, so I don't wanna give any implication otherwise. But it was originally he's a big military guy. And so Yes. That bag came because of it.
Brad:And so it's it's it's more just illustrating where where and how these things have evolved. But, you know, COVID was a very trying time. You I mean, what I wanna be frank. I mean, California specifically, we were locked down here for eighteen months. Right.
Brad:And so, you know, so you you you see, you know, a picky number, you know, it is, you you see your business drop by, you know, sixty, seventy, 80%. You know? I mean, gratefully, you know, gratefully, you know, I've I've as an entrepreneur, I have other other pieces, so I was able to ride it out. But Right. You know, a lot of companies went under.
Brad:I mean, companies friends of ours that, you know, that own different hockey businesses that went under because they just didn't have the yeah. It it they they couldn't ride it out. And, you know, whatever the reason would be. But so, I mean, to answer to your long winded answer to your question is there's there's always things that are changing, and it's just it's trying to figure out how to how to best ebb and flow with it and and, you know, and be, you know, be nimble. Yeah.
Brad:But, you know, I've been there there's always that one thing that can take you down, but it's, you know, gratefully gratefully, we've
Jamie:Yeah.
Brad:We've stood, you know, worldwide pandemic. We've we've we've stood, you know, tariffs.
Jamie:We've Right.
Brad:You know, different things. And so, again, it goes back it goes back to one of my, really, one of my favorite words, which is gratitude. It's just, you know, we've been able to figure out how to how to make it work. And, and so, and, yeah, just continue to do the same now.
Jamie:Yeah. I'm I'm glad the container didn't wind up at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean. None of your bags.
Brad:Well, yeah, you you you laugh about that, but our our container was on that ship.
Jamie:I know.
Scott:It's not
Jamie:a laughing
Brad:moment. I know. Yeah. No. No.
Brad:No. Trust me. You know, that that particular ship, it was, you know, we had a lot of angry customers with us. You know, it's like, told us it was gonna be, you know, preorder. And we and we use our motto is, you know, you know, in essence, I'm gonna say this wrong, man.
Brad:I I'm gonna screw this up, but, you know, it's over over delivered on your promise. It's like Yeah. Yeah. In that particular case, it was, you know, it was it was stuck in the port for three and a half weeks, and we didn't even know if our if our container was in the middle of the Asian Ocean, if it was a middle middle or if it had fallen out here. And, you know, but it was one of those things.
Brad:I mean, gratefully, it didn't. I mean, I'm I feel terrible for those that did, but it's it's a yeah. It it there's just all these little things that come up, and it's just it's it's from logistics to timing to, you know, it's you you you do your best, but, you know, even our best, you know, we falter. So
Scott:one of one of the things that that struck me just be a little bit before when you were talking about people ask, like, you know, you're from California. Like, what do you know about hockey? And despite the fact that there's three teams, it also made me think about the USHL's expanding west also, and that was a recent announcement. So there's and I just looked it up. There's six new markets targeted for '27, '28.
Scott:There's Northern Cali, there's Simi Valley, Orange County, San Diego, Prescott Valley, Arizona, and Phoenix, Arizona. So a lot more hockey eyes
Jamie:are going in that direction. Yeah.
Brad:Yeah. No. I mean, it it yeah. It it I mean, half of those are what you mentioned are in my backyard. And but yeah.
Brad:It's it's it's really I mean, it's that when we first started, that was the big thing. It's like Californians don't know anything. You just have son and what have you. And so but you know, but as parents, I mean, same reason you have this podcast. It's like you you live and breathe this, you know, you go to you go to the tryouts just like everybody else, and you hope your kids are gonna be, you know, gonna get, and, you know, one of my kids is is a goalie, and so it's like you've got even less slots, and so it's like
Jamie:Yeah.
Brad:It's it's it's it's it's it's an adventure and a ride. But, you know, but look, I mean, at the end of the day, fundamentally, the the game itself is the same wherever it's played. You know, skill sets are different, obviously, but the end of the day, it's you know, the fundamentals are generally still the same. You know, goalies goalies, I would say, honestly, is probably the hardest, and women's apparel. Those two for me is those those are our two hardest pieces of this industry because it's, you know, goalies goalies have their their ways of doing things.
Brad:My son does it differently than his partner goalies But, and what have yeah. But it but overall, as a player, it's a lot of it a lot of it all remains the same. And so, you know, so we learn you know, we learned we learned a lot just by talking and and getting getting information.
Scott:Now were there other other items that you were considering, you know, creating your own version of other than bags, or was that was that the one, the only thing that you really considered when when entering the market?
Brad:So the bag was was really the initial. Mhmm. You know? And then it's kind of evolved, you know, with, you know, so I'll call it puck bags, stick bags, you know, different different things. You know, I I've always I've always had the attitude in every company I have is is I always want, you know, one tenth of 1% of the industry.
Brad:I don't need to I don't need to be I don't need to be the king kahuna. I do but I but what I do put my time and energy in, I want it to be, you know, Yeah. The Yeah. Yeah. Right.
Brad:It's you know? Yeah. It's never perfect. There will always be, you know, hey. You've you know, this fell short for a customer or whatever.
Brad:I mean, we do our best to to to help. But at the but at the end of the day, if I can if I can if we can please 99 plus percent and, you know, and and put something out that that's what they want, I consider it a success. You know, I it I have so many ideas of things I could put out there. But it's like yeah. It it's I I think you water it down over time.
Brad:You can do it slowly and methodically. And so when like, when we first came out, it was, you know, we started we started small and then, you know, with, you know, small number of bags, and we started expanding colors, and we started expanding and adding new bags and, you know, and and new new pieces. And so it's just and so the same thing goes, yeah, I mean, not to circle back to the goalie bag. I mean, I'm not sorry. The the wheel bag.
Brad:You know? I mean, pretty much every one of the companies out there has a wheel bag, and we don't. But I don't believe to put don't wanna put a wheel bag out just to put one out. It's like, you know, it's it's I wanna make sure that it's it's it's a step above or steps above what's out there, and it has, you know, it it may I I already know our bag is, you know, is, you know, well made, what have you, and I can and I have ones to we put a wheel set on it and, you know, you could use it. But it's it's it's just it it it hasn't stepped it up enough.
Brad:And so, you know, so now but, you know, now with what we're working with, I think will will allow us to to build around it and and make the ultimate bag out there when it finally comes out.
Scott:And along the way, like, so so it was the bag was the first and it's continued to be, like, your hero product. Maybe that's the right way of saying it. But were in terms of, like, when was there a time, a moment, a deal, a conversation where you that you had and you were just like, boys, we made it. We we we have made it. We've arrived.
Scott:This is gonna this is gonna work out for us. Anything like that along along the way?
Brad:You know, I would say to a limited extent when when Kickstarter, you know, well exceeded our goal. Was Oh,
Jamie:it didn't
Brad:it. First standing point.
Jamie:Oh, okay.
Brad:You know, when we had major retailers coming in and saying, we want your bag in every store. Know, when we've you know, it's remember going to a sports show in Georgia, and, you know, and all these, you know, equipment managers from NHL teams or, you know, buyers from different stores, and everybody's like, oh, we we had to come see what the, you know, the the most expensive hockey bag in the market is. And, you know, this was, you know, you know, eight, nine years ago. And it's and it's like, you know, you know, and then they looked at it and they go, okay. Well, we understand why it cost.
Brad:I mean, we don't charge what we charge just to be funny or just to make more money. I mean, it you know, it it it it costs, you know, a significant amount to make the bags. And so it so to that end, it's I mean, I I'll I'll be honest in all the years I've been in business, I don't I don't think I've ever hit a point where I'd go. I've made it. It's you know, I'm I'm content, and I'm you know, and I and now I'm sitting.
Brad:But there's there's always these little things. I mean, I and little things meaning grateful things. You know? You know, we're in pure hockey. I mean, we're in every one of pure hockey stores.
Brad:Right. You know? It's as an example. And so it's like, you know, it's to make it into a much into large retailers, you know, has has some teeth behind it. And and so people that want want the product.
Brad:When other competitor when other brands that do things out there call you and go, hey. We'd love to collaborate. You know? Those are things that I I'll call it milestones that are that, you know, are exciting. And so, you know, we're people are paying attention.
Brad:So Right. But, you know, it it it still warms my heart when I see a bag just out in the wild, if you will. I don't care where it is. My wife was on a trip with one of my sons a few weeks ago when they were, you know, a guy with a Podcast walked by, you know? And, you know, it's just like, you know, I mean, out of the country was just one of those.
Brad:It was just a very random, you know, thing. And so I was like to to see that type of thing is, you know, is is humbling.
Jamie:It's very cool. It's very, very cool. Yeah. Listen. You know, the the bag might be expensive, Brad, but you get what you pay for.
Jamie:I mean, it's the right? The old adage. I mean, you know, it's it's made it's made better than anything else out there, you know, which is why Yeah. We have not gone through, you know, 10 bags since Dominic has started playing hockey. You know?
Jamie:So I I think
Brad:it matters. And that's the goal. Yeah. So it's yeah. That's the goal.
Brad:And, you know, you know, it's it's a yeah. But, you know, I you know, we always get the, hey. You know, this this how do I do this? Oh, I lost a wet bag or whatever it is. Hey, just call us, you know, send us an email, send us a text.
Brad:We'll we'll get back to you. You know? It's yeah. And like I said, we're we're never perfect, but we do we we strive for perfection. So
Jamie:Yeah. No. It's it's awesome. I know you don't have a lot of time, so so we'll get a couple more in here and then let you let you boogie. So what is like the unicorn?
Jamie:The one thing that kinda has gotten away from you that you haven't been able to put out yet? Is it the wheel bag that we've been talking about, or is there something else?
Brad:You know, I I mean, the wheel bag to some extent. I mean, you know, yeah, I mean, you you have you have a certain percentage of of the hockey community goes, oh, I would never use a wheel bag. And, you know, but there's there is a need out there. You're you're an older adult. You know?
Brad:You you have real young kids, you know, that type of thing. So there there is a market for all of that. You know? Is there one thing that I've gone, well, jeez. You know?
Brad:I mean, there's always something you go, well, I wish I would have thought of that. But it's I don't I don't know that there I mean, to be honest, I don't know that there's any one single thing. I mean, we we get a we just get a I mean, I get a lot of requests. I look at it and go, that that sounds cool. I just don't know if a 100 you know, 50,000 people want that thing, or 10,000 people want that thing, you know, enough.
Brad:I mean, there's a lot of niche things. I would say probably, you know, the wheel bag is is something that we wanna do. This this travel bag that we're working on, if we can if we can make it work properly, I think we'll be an industry leader when it does. And but, you know, I mean, our goal is always to step it up. I mean, our stick bags, you know, what it for example, you know, have padded padded ends for the blades.
Brad:And Yep. Know, if you look at most most bags out there They don't.
Jamie:That's right.
Brad:Don't have that. And and it's so it's one of those things that, you know, you spend you spend a lot of money on on on your sticks. And so it's it's like if you're gonna travel with them, you might as well, you know, might as well at least try to reinforce it to do it. And so those are things, you know, over the years, it's just like trying to figure out if I'm looking at this, but, you know, I don't wanna get into equipment. I mean, I don't wanna make skates or helmets
Scott:or Right.
Brad:You know, that type of thing. But I mean, you know, like, I looked I looked at it from a concept of, you know, I'll call it neck guards and all these different, products. And at the end of the end of the day, I could make it. And, you know, and we we tested and did whatever, but I still go back to do what you know best instead of trying to be all things to all people. And there's enough companies out there you can partner with, and there's enough companies out there that are doing it.
Brad:So, you know, stick with what you know, but my ear's always out there. I'm always listening. There's always something that comes up. You know, a staff will commemorate and come on. Oh, someone called and said, hey.
Brad:You know, this and this. And it's like, yeah. You know, that's it. Interesting idea. Let's let's go down that path, and let's see if it's something we can do.
Brad:But I really you know, it's it's at the risk of being redundant. I really just don't wanna do it to do it. I wanna do it because it makes sense and because it's something that's you know, people can look back and go, okay. I'm I'm glad I bought that versus, you know, and, you know, it was good, but, you know, I'm I'm not real happy with it. And so, you know, it's it's it's the same thing with apparel.
Brad:It's like we spent we spent a lot of time over the years. We've done sweatshirts. We've done, you know, flannels. We've done polos. We've done different things.
Brad:And some things have been more well received than others. And, you know, and so we're we're we're, you know, we're gonna be coming out with new, you know, sweatshirts and T shirts and different things.
Jamie:Beautiful. But Love it.
Brad:It's, you know, it's one of those things that over it's just it's it's try I think the the trend is hard to keep up with. You know? What's what's what's popular today is not popular tomorrow. I mean, we've you know, we had pop sockets, You know, back in the day, that was the greatest thing since sliced bread. But, you know, just as quickly as it was, you know, I I have a few thousand PopSockets that are sitting sitting that we've, you know, that we've we've now since, you know, destroyed.
Brad:Yeah.
Jamie:But I
Brad:mean and it you know? But it's it's one of those things again. Those were just kind of knickknack things, but but the idea is, you know, if if I'm gonna make a new a new product, I'm gonna make, you know, ten, fifteen, 20,000 units. As a starting point, I wanna make sure that it's it's it's exactly what the market needs versus just throw it out there and go, well, yeah, you know, I mean, it it it looks great, but it really wasn't what we it it didn't it didn't it didn't hit the mark. And Right.
Brad:We'll have those. Don't get me wrong. But it's it's just a it's trying to figure out what that you know, trying to trying to match that dynamic. So as far as just staying up with it. So
Jamie:Right.
Scott:Let me me ask this because I know something that is, like, wildly unpopular. And if you can solve for this, I think you would be this is this is the golden ticket. Hockey smell. Hockey smell is not good. And I sat next to a guy in the locker room the other day, and I could have sworn he put his equipment in a urinal.
Scott:It smelled terrible.
Brad:My We question we we yeah. No. I I it it is something actually we're looking I
Jamie:don't think anything
Brad:more than we're looking at it because it's I mean, in the sense of being able to figure it out. I mean, you know, we have vents on our bags. I I don't care how many vents you put on your bag at this point. I don't care how many fans, how many this and that. Agree.
Brad:It's no one solves
Scott:it at this
Brad:point, and
Jamie:I No.
Brad:I don't see that it's yeah. But yeah. No. I agree with you. If if I could solve that, you know, I'll you know, jokingly, I'll be the next Jeff Bezos.
Brad:But Yeah. You know? No. But I mean but it but it would be yeah. Trust me.
Brad:We've you know, we played with it in in all directions. And
Scott:But does that did that, in terms of, like, just like odor transfer, bacteria, etcetera, in terms of, like, fabric selection, like, is that something that yeah. I'm sure you've walked down all of Yeah.
Brad:Yeah. We've looked at it. We've you know, that's been part of our fabric selection was trying to figure out a stuff to be as antimicrobial as possible. Yeah. Type of thing.
Brad:So
Jamie:Yeah. It doesn't seep into the fabric and sit there. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Jamie:Listen. I know you need to leave. So, so you gotta boogie. So where can everybody find you, Brad? So everybody knows.
Brad:You can yes. You can find us at pacificrink.com. So rink.com. And, you know, you could find us at most major retailers. You know, we we we've you know, whether you buy from us directly, you buy from the retailers.
Brad:You know, we'd love to, you know, love to earn your business, love for you to to to experience what other what's, you know, many have. And, know, we we we grateful and, you know, thankful and we and we appreciate the opportunity.
Scott:Amazing, Brad. Wonderful. Oh, this is awesome getting to know a bit more about Pacific Rank and and meeting you, like, live and in person is is great. And this is, you know, just it's so so I always find these things so interesting to learn more about, like, the behind the scenes stuff on things you don't really probably think about too much and just yeah, man. After listening to you talk about this, I can only imagine how many how many conversations you had about making a, know, a bag that was just heads and shoulders better than the rest, and you've definitely done it.
Scott:So well done. Well done.
Jamie:Yes. Hats off.
Brad:Thank you both. Yeah. Yeah. No. Thank you for the opportunity.
Brad:I appreciate you. I've unfortunately, I have, you know
Scott:Yep.
Brad:I I have a hard stop. Otherwise, I would love to love to continue.
Jamie:We can do
Brad:it again.
Scott:We can do around too. Alright, Brad.
Jamie:It's a pleasure.
Scott:Thank you.
Jamie:Have a great day. Have a good night. See you.
Brad:Thank Bye.
Jamie:Alright, everybody. And we're back. And thank you to Brad Serkin, CEO of Pacific Rink. That was awesome for him to come out with us.
Scott:Yep. It was great. Yeah. Listen, great company, you know, great people. Yeah.
Scott:Great products. All all the Great products.
Jamie:Know, love their products. Yeah. You know? Big fan. Big big fan.
Jamie:You can fit a ton of especially like, if you've see have you seen like the the senior like goalie bag?
Scott:That I haven't.
Jamie:I think it's enormous. Is it? Yes. Yes. I mean, it's yes.
Jamie:And I think I think our friend Stacy and Larry are actually are actually I'm pretty sure they just bought one.
Scott:Oh, yeah. That's good.
Jamie:Yeah. Yeah. I'm pretty sure they literally just bought one. They were waiting for the discount code. But they couldn't wait?
Jamie:They did. They literally like like literally literally just bought one.
Scott:Oh, gosh.
Jamie:Yes. Got you. Yes. Yes. Yeah.
Jamie:Now I'm connecting the dots.
Scott:Yes. Understood. Yeah. Yeah. But, you know, I I think the biggest thing just from from that interview, like, the they're how intentional they are.
Scott:Right? Like, with the the different bags, the what compartments are included, you know, just like very, very intentional about everything. And it it it shows. It shows in the, you know, in the organization, it shows in the quality, like
Jamie:all of them. Super high quality stuff. Yeah. You know, I mean, we're Dom had a bag when he was very young. It lasted forever.
Jamie:You know, because the old the old if you ever had like a CCM or a battle bag, they fall apart in no time.
Scott:Yeah. It's It's falling apart.
Jamie:Yeah. It's crap. It's all shit. You know, so it's nice that a a company came out that made like a really high quality hockey bag. Right.
Jamie:You know? And I also love
Scott:that they're developing a bag for what was it they said? Around like to for to save for a hockey hockey player with disabilities.
Jamie:I think that's the wheelie bag they're coming out with. Is that Yeah.
Scott:Working on Yeah. Working on that. And I thought that was amazing because they're they're looking, you know, not just, you know, regular game but 100 you know, game, disabled game, it's
Jamie:Yeah. Yeah. Now listen, they've been trying to do the wheelie bag for a little while, right? I mean, they're it's it's coming, I'm sure it is,
Scott:no one's They able to do wanna make sure they do it right.
Jamie:Yeah. He's just not gonna put something out to put it out. Right. Like a lot these other companies do. Yeah.
Jamie:You know? Which is unfortunate, know, because if you just take a little more time, you know, but but I gotta tell you, like, you know, some of these some of these companies try to be like a jack of all trades, master a none. Yeah. You know? I mean, it's what's nice when you have com like boutique y companies, you know, that that have a specific idea and make a specific product.
Jamie:And and it shows in the quality of the of the product. Right. You know? It totally does. So, thank you to Brad for coming on.
Jamie:The company's awesome. Like I said, we've we've been partnered with him for a while. We couldn't be more happy about it. You know, and again, to give you guys our our discount our discount code for us, for our listeners is phenomenal.
Scott:Yeah.
Jamie:Yeah.
Scott:One more time.
Jamie:Discount It's crazy dad 10 for 10% off your your tie your Titan. No. Not your Titan. Your Pacific Rink. Got it.
Jamie:It's like because there's there's similar discount codes. Yeah. Crazy dads 10 and crazy dad 10. So our Pacific Rink is crazy dad 10.
Scott:There it is.
Jamie:Awesome. It's like, alphabet soup. You know? I remember that. I gotta remember them all.
Jamie:It's like it's a good problem to have. No doubt. But they were it was super cool of them to do that for us because like I said, they don't do sales.
Scott:Yeah. Yeah. You know? Well, listen, everyone. Go out there and get your Pacific Gear, Pacific Rank gear.
Jamie:Yeah. Good till nine three.
Scott:Nine three. Okay.
Jamie:You don't have a lot of time.
Scott:09/03 is my wife's birthday.
Jamie:There you go. Also her
Scott:twin sister's birthday.
Jamie:My wife's is the second.
Scott:It is my sister's birthday. Isn't that crazy?
Jamie:All three. My wife is the day before them.
Scott:Amazing. Isn't that impressive? So we can have a party for them all. We should
Jamie:buy them all Pacific Ring stuff. Absolutely. Can you imagine if I came over with like a player back for Nancy and be like, happy birthday.
Scott:You need to get everything
Jamie:in my size. Listen, she she she travels a lot of shit so she can shoot all her stuff in it. There you go. Can I just tell you like the the pond pack? The depth of the pond pack, like the amount of stuff you can fit in that thing
Scott:It runs deep, Oh my God.
Jamie:I mean, it's it even the puck bag. Yeah. You know, for those of you coaches that are out there, coaches, managers, right? If you have to carry pucks around for for your for your kid's team or your daughter's team, you know, it's it it holds a lot of stuff.
Scott:The the only downside to that is it gets heavy.
Jamie:Listen, you need to yes, you need to have a little bit of strength in you but Yeah. But listen, but it's
Scott:That's better than the bucket probably.
Jamie:You don't wanna walk around with a bucket. Super cumbersome. This you could at least throw over your shoulder
Scott:There
Jamie:you go. You know, so it's not so awkward. Yeah. You know? But yeah, no, go check other stuff.
Jamie:Like I said, the stick bag is sick, the weekender bag is sick, the player bag is sick, the senior player bag is sick, the clothes are awesome, the logo is one of my favorite logos around, I was talking about it, you know, during the interview. Couldn't we couldn't be happier with Pacific Rink, kind of like by our side.
Scott:Yep. No. No. Well said, man. It's awesome.
Scott:Alright. Well, okay. So what's up next, hockey wise? Anything brewing? What do you what do you got this week?
Jamie:The season is here. Like Yeah. Dom's been back shooting a little bit, skating bunch. You know, just getting back into shape. Know, he he told me when he played yesterday that he that he gets tired quickly.
Jamie:Okay. I'll I'll tell you something.
Scott:What was it that one pickup game that he played with us at 05:30 in the morning that didn't solve all his conditioning problems.
Jamie:You know, it's it's funny. I'm assuming the I'm assuming the speed of that game was not
Scott:Well, what did he say? What did he say about it? Did he talk about it at all?
Jamie:He did. Yeah. What did he say? He's like, dad, he's like he's like, I beat like a 65 year year old goalie like, you know, like high glove. I'm like, like, what'd you think about that?
Jamie:He's like, yeah.
Scott:Other than that, dude, it was whether or not he wants to like, you know, be hard on himself about that, it was a nice shot.
Jamie:Yeah. Alright. It was he had a good time. Okay. He had a good time.
Jamie:But so yesterday so this is kind of like what I'm assuming a lot of parents wanna hear. So he comes off the ice yesterday after his game with his team And he gets in the car and he's like, and I actually noticed it like I I his effort level in the first two periods were like, you know what I mean? And then also in the third period, he started like back checking and fore checking. And not that he doesn't do that regularly, but he doesn't do it to this extent.
Scott:It seemed different.
Jamie:It seemed different. And it and it switched like, I would say like maybe like toward the end of the second period. And it was noticeable to me. Yeah. Like very noticeable to to my wife too.
Jamie:And he and he comes off and and it and it I have to tell you, in that time period when he started actually playing, you know, or like getting a lot more effort, he created turnovers that led to goals. Mhmm. Turnovers kept the puck in the in the zone that led to goals. Yep. Right?
Jamie:So super effective. You know, so he gets in the car and he's like he's like, I realized that I wasn't going and that I was tired. He's like, so I made it a point to make sure that I pushed myself.
Scott:Good for him.
Jamie:And it showed. Yeah. It was and he wasn't pissed off at himself, which is like a first. Nancy looked at me, she's like, who is this kid? That is amazing.
Jamie:So we always talk about like kids kind of figuring it out at their own at their own pace.
Scott:Yep. Yep.
Jamie:You know, so listen, is it gonna translate into the season? Who knows? Yep. We'll see what happens. But he was not pissed off at himself when he came off the ice.
Jamie:He he said, like, I know what I need to do. So we'll see. We'll see what that looks like.
Scott:Well, I I mean, basically, he needs to keep on playing pickup with me and Clearly. My my good habits are gonna run rub off
Jamie:on you. Sounds like that's a thing.
Scott:And he can pretty much any any success he has in hockey, can thank me for.
Jamie:What what you're saying makes a lot of sense to me.
Scott:Yeah. A
Jamie:100 I mean, I I what you're saying makes total sense to me.
Brad:I know. I know. You know? I know.
Jamie:But you know, the fact that as a parent, I have to tell you, like, he hit two posts. Yep. You know? And he wasn't like pissed off at himself. Like but he affected the game, which is what you want as as a player.
Jamie:You wanna have an effect on the game, and he did.
Scott:Right.
Jamie:And he did it without putting the puck in the net. Right. He still had a bunch of points, fucking me wrong, like assists and something like that, but like, even if he didn't have any assists, like he had a good game. Yeah. There you go.
Jamie:Because he gave effort. Right. Right? It's all about production.
Scott:Right.
Jamie:Right? He produced through hard work. Right? So as a parent, that's awesome to see. Yeah.
Jamie:No. Right? We all get frustrated with our kids' effort level sometimes, you know, I'm sure a lot of you out there feel the same way, you know, so all of a sudden, I don't know if a light switched all of a sudden in his head or what. I don't know if it's gonna carry over. We'll see.
Scott:Well, just look, keep on encouraging him to Yeah. To reflect on this and let let whatever went on this past week and link sink in and Yeah. You have they have Live Barn there? They have Live Barn?
Jamie:They do.
Scott:Yeah. So download the clip. I did. And then make sure he watches it.
Jamie:He didn't watch it yet, but I I I
Scott:out to him, be like, dude, this is what I'm talking about. Like, you need more of this in your life.
Jamie:Yeah. No. And then I have to tell you as a as a hockey dad, I was I I didn't have an issue. That With anything. Even in the first two periods when he wasn't giving effort, didn't have an issue.
Jamie:Why? I don't know.
Scott:Just so that's that's that was more of a reflection of like you being a maybe
Jamie:I don't know by more level? I don't I don't I don't know the answer. Let's see if I can continue to be this level headed during the season. Mhmm. I think I can.
Scott:Well, it depends.
Jamie:Right. Like the little engine. Like the little engine that could. Maybe. I think I can.
Jamie:I think I can. Is that the right book? Am I right?
Scott:Yeah. You're right. Yeah.
Jamie:Thought so. Yeah. You know, so so listen. So maybe we've turned a corner here as like a family.
Scott:Okay.
Jamie:Dad's more relaxed, Dominic's more relaxed, and listen, I'm and I've I've kind of come to the realization that I'm sure to let him do his thing and wherever he falls, he falls. Yep. You know? And I'm okay with it.
Scott:Well, so I I agree with what you're saying. However, in like in theory, but in practice.
Jamie:Right? Well, practiced it yesterday.
Scott:No. But but he this And it worked. Yes. It works. But what I'm saying is that there are he's still young.
Scott:He still he still needs guidance. Sure. And and and so there are gonna be teachable moments that are not that shouldn't be out of bounds for you.
Jamie:No, of course.
Scott:You know, so obviously, know, those moments will come up.
Jamie:I'm not afraid to say anything to him.
Scott:No, Of course not. I'm just saying that it's not necessarily going to be a, you know, the the best version of
Brad:you no. No. No. No.
Scott:The the best version of you is not necessarily one that's totally, like, keeping to yourself, keeping quiet.
Jamie:No. But I think the best version of him is when I keep quiet. Okay. You know what I mean? And don't get me wrong.
Jamie:If if he does something, just do not. I'm I'm I'm a 100% gonna tell him because I think as as a parent, that's you have that responsibility. Right? Sure. But I'm but I'm as far as his gameplay, like I'm just gonna let him do his thing.
Scott:And let the coaches coach him. Yeah. Which Okay. So then, he's gonna ask you, dad, how'd I play today?
Jamie:Listen, you know what, you know, it's funny you mentioned that. I was kind of like kicking around like if he did say that to me, I'd like, you know what, like give me an idea like what you thought your because all I care about is effort. What do think your effort was? Because because I have tell you, yesterday during the game, Dominic's hands didn't work. You know how you were saying how Otto's feet and hands didn't work when you guys played that men's league game
Scott:Yeah.
Jamie:Saturday morning? Yeah. Dominic's hands didn't work. Not so well. Not at all.
Jamie:Not at all. The whole game. Warm ups, he looked great. And he even said that. He's a guy.
Jamie:He's like, warm ups. I I I the puck was on my stick. It was like a it was like on a string. He's like, the warm up felt awesome. He's like, and then when the game started, he's like, I couldn't stick handle.
Jamie:And he couldn't. He's 100% And he nerves? Maybe. Yeah. Couldn't stick handle.
Jamie:Skating wasn't a problem, like no balance issues, but like stick handling was wonky. Mhmm. Had a hard time like controlling the puck when he was on a stick. Yep. You know, like not typical Dominic.
Jamie:Yeah. But so for whatever reason. So like it it didn't start out well, but he didn't fall apart. Right? And he found other ways to, like, affect the game.
Jamie:Contribute. Yeah. That's great.
Scott:That's huge. So that's a that's a really encouraging sign.
Jamie:I think so too.
Scott:Yeah. And and just reinforce that with him, you know, reinforce the good behaviors.
Jamie:Trying. Yeah.
Scott:Yeah. No, that's great.
Jamie:Yeah. Yeah. But I was really proud of him because he's ADHD brain kinda starts to run wild. Right? Yeah.
Jamie:So I was really proud of him for not getting down on himself and going into the tank.
Scott:And and you should
Jamie:because you don't wanna go into the tank. When you're in the tank, it's over.
Scott:But did did you talk to him about that at all? Like was No. Interest I would be interested. I didn't. I would be interested.
Scott:I said nothing. No. Yeah. Like like, do did you have different self talk? Nope.
Scott:Like, did you have an experience or did you see something or read something that
Jamie:Me personally? No.
Scott:No. For Dominic. I'm I'm curious, like Maybe. What what did he lean into when he, like, you know, had this moment, like, I'm gonna, like, you know, give more.
Jamie:I wish I knew the answer to that. I'll ask
Scott:him. Ask there's anything in particular.
Jamie:Yeah. But he came out and said to my wife, he's like, you know, mommy's like, I know what I need to do. He said to her, he's like, he's like, know I didn't play great. He's like, but and he's right, he didn't play great, but he affected the game. So he like, maybe he didn't maybe he didn't look pretty to the eye.
Jamie:Mhmm. Right? Because he was a little disjointed and the stick handling was, like I said, a little wonky, but he I think he probably had like three assists. Okay. Right?
Jamie:And for Right. I mean, you have three points for a game, and I don't care if you don't score a goal, I just wanna see the effort. I don't even care if he has zero points, I just wanna see the effort. Yep. Like, I wanna see is
Scott:the And so when you say effort, let's just just clarify that, like what what what is it? Like,
Jamie:do the hard things, like like a skater in with your hair on fire and cause havoc. Right? Block shots, finish checks, be disruptive. Right?
Scott:Like active sticks, stack starts.
Brad:A 100%.
Jamie:Yes. Yes. Yep. He did.
Scott:Take away time and space, first on puck.
Jamie:Correct. Exactly. Forecheck, backcheck, like your hair's on fire. Like, just get in the way of people, whether it's with your stick, with your skates, with your your knee to block shot, whatever you need to do. You know, just have an impact on the game.
Scott:And how was how was the physicality of this game? Was it was it heavy checking?
Jamie:So Dominic Dominic had a bunch of reverse hits
Scott:Oh, that's good.
Jamie:In the game. Yeah. You know? And it's still it was early in the season, but but it it got a little chippy toward the end of game, not gonna lie. It did get Not surprised.
Jamie:Did get a little chippy. It's like the third time we played this team, so it did get a little chippy. Yep. That's for sure. But he was fine physically, like, you know, physicality wise.
Jamie:He was throwing his body around on the reverse end Yep. Which was fine. But I was proud of him for not going in the tank. Right? And I was proud of him for actually like recognizing that he was maybe kind of like dragging ass a little bit.
Jamie:Yep. And actually like kicking into high gear. Good. Higher gear.
Scott:Yeah. Listen. Right? That that that that is a real a real sign. Really encouraging.
Jamie:It is encouraging. We'll see if it continues.
Scott:But but But it's something. If it happened once, it can happen again.
Jamie:It can. You're not wrong.
Scott:And and so I wouldn't I mean, I don't know. I would I would I would really wanna peel that onion like, the layers of that onion away a little bit just to see, like, what, like, what happened in that moment? Uh-huh. What did
Jamie:you think? I'll ask
Scott:him. You should. I'd I'd be tell him. Ask him and then tell us next week cause I'm
Jamie:curious to hear that. I think I I think Nancy asked him and I think he said like, I just realized that I wasn't going as hard as I need to. Okay. And he's right. He wasn't.
Jamie:And I and I I was in the stands and I was watching like a lackluster effort as far as like effort wise. Right? And even said himself, not gonna get upset, like it is what it is, what do you But then he it picked up as the game kind of wore on. Alright. With by himself, which was good.
Jamie:That's awesome, man. So Good. Yeah. To be continued. Good for Dommer.
Jamie:To be continued, we'll see how it goes. Right? We'll see how that kind of like plays itself out but but on my end, this podcast is helping me.
Scott:Yeah. No, you've you've likewise, same same thing here.
Jamie:So hopefully it's helping everybody else out there too.
Scott:We we have Otto had his first night of practice.
Jamie:Yeah,
Scott:did. So so I will see that tomorrow for the first time. Okay. Check out the new team and see how that's looking.
Jamie:Oh, they have practice again tomorrow.
Scott:Yeah, they have Monday through Thursday.
Jamie:They're mini camping. Right?
Scott:Yeah, Monday through Thursday this week, Monday through Thursday next week and then there's a tournament.
Jamie:Wait, so you have ice Monday through Thursday? You have you have eight hours of ice this week?
Scott:Eight hours of ice next week.
Jamie:You have eight hours of ice next week.
Scott:And then we go right into a tournament.
Jamie:Dude, we got fucked this year. Tier two got fucked. We got none of that. Like zero. We have we have fucking off ice tonight in some in the middle of nowhere.
Scott:I like the middle school I
Jamie:drive to like fucking Clifton, the two days later this week to like for off ice that we had to pay for. Right? So like you guys have two, four, six, eight hours this week. Listen, tonight Two, four, six, eight hours next week. I believe.
Jamie:That's what I believe. Wow. We got fucked in tier two this year. Totally fucked. Like, majorly fucked.
Jamie:I think we have like, we have a two hour practice on a Saturday. Not this week. Maybe it is this Saturday. Okay. I think we have like we got fucked.
Jamie:That's what I'm saying. Do you guys practice? Saturday.
Scott:Saturday. But then like after in earnest, they start the following week?
Jamie:I think so. Got it. So you guys have you guys have sixteen hours of ice over over fourteen days. Yeah. And we and we have two thirty four to be fucked.
Jamie:Way to go guys.
Scott:I don't know what to say.
Jamie:Way to go guys that that that's that's anyway. Anyhoo. Anyhow. I'm glad that I do shit by myself on the side. Well,
Scott:listen, I you know, look it's yeah, I don't know. They look I guess Tier two shafting by Black Bear.
Jamie:Tier two. Thanks, Black
Scott:Anyway, yeah. So Otto's in the thick of it now and
Jamie:Nice. Alright. Good.
Scott:And we have a tournament straight after that and then we're we're no. It's it's on. It's on like Donkey Kong.
Brad:Right?
Jamie:It is on like Donkey Kong.
Scott:That's for sure. So I'll have more to report back as I get to know the the team better, get to see how they're looking, get to see the competition we're playing.
Jamie:Get to meet the new parents again.
Scott:It's a first year triple a team. Right. You know, coach only good things to say about the coach.
Jamie:Yeah. He's heavy into development. Heavy into development. Yeah. Which is what you want.
Scott:He's got a good head on his shoulders.
Jamie:Like Yeah. No. He's a good coach. Yeah. You guys have a good coach.
Scott:He was, like, cautioning, you know, parents that were asking him about Pee Wee Quebec because it's their Pee Wee Quebec here. Oh, give him a fuck. Well, people do. Unfortunately. They do.
Scott:And, you know, he was just he was just saying, like, you know, it's it's just kinda buyer beware. If you're gonna, like, head out of town for that much time, this is what you're gonna miss if you know, for your regular team and, you know, not not to say that
Jamie:Pretty sure it's like a ten, twelve day thing.
Scott:Yeah. It's nice. It's not
Jamie:It's a long haul. Yeah, PQAWK is long.
Scott:Yeah, for sure. I mean, it's massive. It's massive. And it's not just, you know, tier one, there's like tier two. Yeah.
Scott:It's a whole thing.
Jamie:Is there a tier two PQAWK? Absolutely. The same week or a different week?
Scott:No. I think it's
Jamie:the same week. Is it really?
Scott:I think it's unbelievably massive. There's a whole festival going on
Jamie:in I was gonna say, talk about a money driver. Jesus Christ. Yeah. Major tourism. I I mean, the amount of people that probably descend on that area for those that that ten twelve day period is probably It's like ungodly.
Jamie:Probably very impressive.
Scott:Yeah. Lots of hockey sticks.
Jamie:Oh, for sure.
Scott:Anyway Yeah. Kidding. I'm trying to think of what else I that's about it. I'm gonna continue. I gotta shoot pucks after this.
Jamie:Yeah, you do. You're doing your men's league domination thing.
Scott:Men's I'm I'm men's league dominating Yeah. And shooting pucks.
Jamie:How many pucks are you shooting? I'm gonna fill up the bucket. So what does that mean? Like, 12? I mean, what's fill up the bucket?
Jamie:Fill the bucket? There's like 80. So that's legit.
Scott:80 pucks in the bucket.
Jamie:Okay. So you're gonna run
Scott:through it once? I mean, at least once.
Jamie:Okay. I don't know that I'm gonna do
Scott:it more than once. Getting It's late, but I
Jamie:need to ready. Gotta at least shoot a hundo. Okay. I don't think he can get away with less than a hundo. Or else your kid's gonna make fun of you.
Scott:He could I you know what? When he's shooting a hundo pucks every day.
Jamie:Do you shoot a hundo every day? No. Okay. Got it. No.
Jamie:Not even gonna make fun of that.
Brad:I think that. He's not gonna make
Jamie:So then why don't you outshoot him and be like, hey, bud. Look.
Scott:If go out there and I shoot one, I will outshoot him today. Oh, he was on the ice.
Jamie:I was gonna say, he was also on the ice I'm for two
Scott:just saying, like, as far as, like, you know, shooting Right.
Jamie:This is extra, I understand. Yes. Yeah. I gotcha. Alright.
Jamie:Listen. But that's good that you're doing that. That's exciting. And and hockey is back. I'm sure all of you that are listening are probably back in the swing of things.
Jamie:And if you're not, you will be very shortly, but I have a feeling most of you probably are.
Scott:Yeah. I think so.
Jamie:You know, it's funny. I am just kind of like a side note on the parent end. Like, like, I'm getting a lot of feedback this year that the parents are like, fuck, season's starting already?
Scott:I kinda feel that way.
Jamie:A lot of people are saying that.
Scott:I mean, the fact that we're going to a tournament like straight out like straight away, not that it's bad but it's like That's the fourth, fifth.
Jamie:We're all at that same showcase. Right?
Scott:It's like In like
Jamie:Philly areas. Are you guys in the Philly area? I don't know. You Do know where you are for the showcase?
Scott:I just know that I have a showcase.
Jamie:We're down in Philly.
Scott:Are we?
Jamie:We are. I don't where Are you you staying guys downtown? No. Because I because I because I didn't get to pick the hotel so No. That's a bummer.
Jamie:Yeah. I had I had nothing to do with it. I'm just a hockey dad now. I don't I don't even give I don't even give my I don't even give my 2¢ anymore. Unless I get asked, then I'll I'll give it.
Jamie:Yeah. I'll give it, but I I don't I don't I don't get involved.
Scott:I I hear you.
Jamie:Too many years of doing it, dude. I just want a hockey dad now. I've I have no interest in any of that shit.
Scott:Getting being being more involved.
Jamie:No interest.
Scott:Well, you also have a whole podcast that you spend your time. I suppose that's true. I I don't I think if anything, you're doing more extracurricular hockey, parent hockey things than the average Joe.
Jamie:That is true and this will not get me divorced. Not like putting that not like doing what I was doing got me divorced, but it was close, dude. Like me, Chris, and Phil, when we put that Rocket team together years ago, when we were like super involved. Yeah. Like I'm surprised none of us got divorced.
Jamie:Because the amount of hours we put into that did we be on the phone till like 11:00 at night? For like for like three hours? It was dude, was awful. Yeah. It was cool.
Jamie:I wouldn't do it again, you know, but I was probably proud of what we did.
Scott:Of course. And it's still a team and it's still thriving and it's still going.
Jamie:Yeah. And it is. But this this podcast won't get me divorced.
Scott:Okay. Well, that's good. Glad to hear that.
Jamie:Yeah. Yeah. Boy, that almost did. The three of us. Like, we were almost up Schitt's Creek.
Jamie:Was it was it was a lot.
Scott:Alright. But you did it. That was a that was a major accomplishment.
Jamie:Hey, listen. Whatever. It's all good. Yeah.
Scott:Anything else for
Jamie:this one, dude? I'm Make this up. I'm excited for hockey season. Hopefully, we're gonna have a good year. I hope everybody else out there feels the same way.
Jamie:Don't get down on it, it's it's the season's starting up, it'll be fine. Just support your kid, you know, your kids, however many you have playing or whatever it is, boy, girls, it doesn't matter, just support them, make sure they have fun, right? Support them, do whatever you can to support them if you can and just enjoy the journey.
Scott:Easier said than done, but I agree with you.
Jamie:In fact, it's easier said than done is my dream.
Scott:Well, here's to a new chapter. Good luck to everyone like you just said. Looking forward to sharing more as this thing goes on, and this was a good one, buddy.
Jamie:81 in the books. Go buy your Pacific Ring stuff.
Scott:That's it, dude.
Jamie:Use our code. Alright. Stay out.
