Maya: I'm Maya Chen. The real story isn't the headline about data centers. It's that the physical infrastructure required to run AI at scale is colliding with finite local resources in ways that create genuine operating constraints for the companies building this stuff.

James: Communities across the US are blocking AI data center projects. Noise from cooling systems is constant. Water supplies are depleted. Power demand is forcing some operators to turn to methane gas generators, which creates documented health risks. Local governments are issuing moratoriums. Permitting is getting harder.

Maya: The data tells a different story than what tech companies announce in earnings calls. They talk about AI buildout as inevitable.
