Christian rock band Skillet is marking a major milestone as its signature hit “Monster” becomes the only song by a Christian artist to top 1 billion streams on Spotify, while also surpassing 4 billion global streams overall. Frontman John Cooper says the band is entering a “new era” with the single “Scream,” due July 10, alongside the Comatose: 20 Years, Still Screaming Tour. Reflecting on the band’s latest chapter, Cooper said, “We still have more of a story to tell,” adding, “We’ve got to go all-in.” He described “Scream” as a response to a culture where “social media is a cesspool,” saying the song is about “wanting your life to matter when the world feels chaotic and overwhelming.” The tour will celebrate Skillet’s breakthrough 2006 album Comatose, which Cooper says “defined our sound, our message.”

The Presbyterian Church in America has unanimously elected the Rev. Fred Greco, senior pastor of Christ Church in Katy, Texas, as its sixth stated clerk during the denomination’s General Assembly in Louisville, Kentucky. Greco struck a humble tone in his acceptance, telling delegates, “I am not your boss, I am your servant,” and pledging to “visit every single one of your presbyteries” to strengthen relationships across the PCA. He said he hopes to help pastors, elders and presbyteries build “healthy churches” and “see the Gospel go forward,” adding, “May the Lord Jesus Christ be glorified through my life and service.” Search committee chairman Frank Cohee praised Greco’s humility and desire to serve Christ’s church. Greco succeeds interim clerk John Bise, following Bryan Chapell’s retirement amid controversy.

Camp Mystic, the private Christian girls’ camp in Hunt, Texas, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy as it faces multiple wrongful death lawsuits tied to the July 4, 2025 flash floods that killed 28 people along the Guadalupe River. Court filings show the camp reported less than $10 million in assets and between $10 million and $50 million in liabilities. More than a dozen families allege camp leaders failed to evacuate campers and counselors in time. Will and CiCi Steward, whose 8-year-old daughter Cile was never found, accused the camp of “bad-faith litigation conduct,” saying it was “not out of respect for our grieving families.” A recent Texas legislative report found “inadequate advanced emergency planning,” delayed evacuation, and poor communication. The bankruptcy filing was signed by Willetta, Richard Jr., George, and Edward Eastland.

The Evangelical Alliance is urging Christians across the U.K. to engage Muslims with confidence rather than fear, saying growing Muslim visibility in public life presents a major Gospel opportunity. Speaking in a webinar, Solas Centre for Public Christianity director Andy Bannister said, “Islam is certainly more vocal … it’s more confident,” and warned that the Church has done “a pretty bad job at equipping people to engage their Muslim friends and neighbors.” Bannister stressed that “Islam and Christianity are radically different,” but added, “We don’t disrespect Islam by describing honestly what’s there.” Yemeni-born convert John Ghanim, now in the U.K., shared how following Christ cost him his family and access to his daughters, yet declared, “I lost everything for you, but I know 100 percent that I have access to Heaven.” His message to believers: “We need to be bold for Christ.”

Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred says San Francisco Giants players who added Bible verses to Pride Night caps will not be punished, after a controversy that drew in Sen. Josh Hawley of Missouri. In a letter released by Hawley, Manfred said the league’s response was about a uniform rule, not religion, insisting MLB was “not discriminating or chastising those players based on their religious beliefs” but enforcing a “long-standing” policy meant to “keep uniforms clean and avoid controversy.” Manfred added, “The players were neither fined nor disciplined, nor will they ever be.” The dispute involved pitcher Landon Roupp, who wrote Genesis 9:12-16, reliever JT Brubaker, and Sam Hentges, who declined the cap. Hawley pushed back, saying, “The freedom to live out one’s faith does not end at the ballpark gate.”

Savannah Guthrie delivered a tearful on-air plea as troubling new details emerged in the disappearance of her 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie. Speaking on “Today,” Guthrie said, “Somebody knows something,” and begged anyone with information to come forward, adding, “We are in agony. We cannot be at peace.” The appeal follows reports about notes sent to media outlets claiming Nancy is “buried with nature.” NewsNation correspondent Brian Entin reported a source said the note claimed Nancy had died and that her death “was not intentional,” though he emphasized there was “no direct apology in the note.” TMZ separately reported the FBI considers one ransom note authentic, and that the sender demanded millions in cryptocurrency. Nancy Guthrie vanished from her Arizona home around Feb. 1, and no arrests have been announced.
