days away from the crossfit games let's go

Welcome to the show, it's time to ignite.

just right.

Caroline on the mic,

wants a star on the ice.

Games athletes so strong,

keeps the balance precise.

And Jamie's in the house,

the engine full of grit.

Never backing down, down,

doesn't know the word.

When together they bring the fire,

never say never.

So buckle up friends,

it's burpees forever.

Welcome to Sunday night.

we are live for sunday sunday sunday night

crossfit talk what is going on everybody

jamie's on the road yet she still was

able to join us what's up hi

I can see her or bright orange suitcase

behind her head,

ready to be put on a plane to

head to San Jose, California.

You got it.

And I finally have internet in California.

I went to a local Starbucks.

So hopefully this week I can actually hear

you guys because the last two weeks I've

just been here and not really listening

because I couldn't really hear anything.

So trying this out today.

CrossFit says your bags are definitely too

heavy.

your bags are definitely too heavy.

So Carolyn can hear this week,

but now Jamie can't hear it cause she's

in a car.

Um,

Yeah.

Before we get into the CrossFit stuff,

I got to tell you,

I watched a new Michael Jackson movie this

weekend.

I still haven't watched it.

I got to watch it still.

It was really, really good.

It just made me mad about how he

was raised.

But

was a really really good movie especially

i mean i was twelve years old when

thriller came out so like i vividly

remember that right it impacted my life

greatly my wife is a little bit older

than me so she was like really into

thriller and we really enjoyed it start to

finish so um great great show if you

haven't seen it already

I'll go watch it at some point.

So it's still in theaters?

It is.

The other big thing I did this weekend

was I moved more dirt,

and then I woke up last night with

my back locked.

So I've just been stretching all morning

trying to get it right and prepping for

a six-hour flight to California.

Yeah.

Alexis' back is always getting locked

lately, the past week.

This week was a tough week for us

because Coast, one of our two dogs,

he had a little mass,

a little localized mass on one of his

toes.

And we didn't really think anything of it.

It wasn't too big.

So then he got it tested and the

results came back and

Lex knows more about like all the details

of it,

but they had suggested for a full toe

amputation.

So like literally last minute,

got into that on Thursday,

got his toe amputated to not have,

they basically said it was the best case

for like a possible cancer to not spread.

So he's been, you know,

we bought a wagon.

So on a little wagon,

walking around because Callie,

our other dog,

still wants to go for like long walks.

So it's been a tough week just taking

care of him.

And yeah, so that's been our busy,

unplanned week and kind of changed a

little bit of our plans even for this

upcoming week at the games because she'll

stay back now.

um yeah i saw that i saw you

guys post that stuff as a dog lover

it you know i'm just glad he's doing

okay he's the happiest golden doodle like

ever um like you could do anything to

him and he'll just he's just dookie um

so i'm just happy that that's you know

off and hopefully good news from there

it'll get biopsied and we'll get like more

detailed results from the biopsy but yeah

he's in good hands like lex is so

good with him like that's like her spirit

dog it's their connection is so so deep

so um yeah so she'll she'll uh stay

and take care of him because he needs

his mama

Um, whoops, not wrong one.

Cross fat kind of stops at an interesting

point.

He's talking about the Michael movie.

I'm sure it did stop at an interesting

point in more ways than one.

Um,

but I also think it kind of set

it up for a sequel.

And if you're going to watch it,

know that almost the entire Jackson family

are executive producers on the movie.

So you're going to get the Jackson's

perspective,

which made his upbringing even more hard

for me to watch.

And because there were no punches pulled

on that.

Ed AI says, I watched Char take second,

and it was just as dramatic.

I think he's talking about Char LeClaire

in the F-One race today,

who I wanted to win over Kimi Antonelli

so bad.

I'm tired of him winning.

I want anybody else but Kimi to win.

Anybody but a Mercedes,

that's what I want.

Avera says, Scott,

sounds like you need an inversion table.

It will change your life.

I've tried inversion tables.

It does not work for me.

Whatever I have going on in my back,

it actually makes it worse.

They just released the thirty-five to

thirty-nine, I think, workout.

Okay, we'll look at that in a minute.

You need the vibrating belt.

That's what you need.

Robo cop.

Yes.

Yeah.

Um, actually I wanted to tell you, Jamie,

I'm bringing you my red light therapy.

Yep.

Awesome.

So you'll get that on Wednesday sometime.

Um, before we dive into the new workout,

Amy was bored this weekend.

And so three days, I said four,

but it was really three days prior to

the games.

I was corrected on that last night.

Um,

she decided to do a local comp and

just go win it.

You're crazy for that.

Yeah, I know.

I don't feel too bad.

It wasn't, it was,

it was good programming.

Nothing like beat us up,

but my idiot self tore.

So I gotta, that's the only issue.

Well,

the comp is outside and like hot bars

or rings and yeah, that's tougher to,

hand maintenance and heat is always

something to deal with.

It is in the most beautiful location

though ever.

Uh,

having gone there a couple of years ago,

right on Lake Michigan, it is,

if you want to have fun at a

comp, go to fresh coast.

It is a blast.

Yeah, we were nervous.

Cause like the air quality index was like,

I don't know, four hundred on Friday.

And it actually went down to like sixty

on Saturday.

It went back up to like one twenty

today,

which they were still competing today,

the intermediate.

um before intermediate but it actually was

not bad yesterday the air was pretty good

uh crossfit wants to know if you can

get him a number seven with the diet

coke you know we'll swing through um all

right so carolyn is it on legends yeah

it's on their instagram

Okay,

I think I have legends pulled up here.

Let me refresh.

Is it true that this got added to

Forty to Forty-Four also?

Oh, I don't know.

I just got a notification that said

Legends Workout is out.

Yes, Forty to Forty-Four.

Oh, there we go.

Jay, you get a seventh event.

I went to Fresh Ghost and I thought

I only had six.

They heard the complaints.

Eight rounds for time.

Eight.

I said eight rounds for time of a

two hundred and forty shuttle run.

One seated rope climb.

One heavy sandbag clean.

For forty to forty four,

it is a two hundred and one fifty

pound sandbag.

Same for thirty five to thirty nine.

I don't know why they put them out.

Any thoughts?

I hate the fact that you run and

then you just go sit down.

I like the run, go jump,

and then go sandbag and make it a

race.

The just going to sit down,

it's a mood killer.

How do you want to say it?

It stops the flow of the workout a

little bit.

Yeah,

just straight leg lifts would have been

fine there.

I would have done like two legless or

two slash one for the females or every

other round is one for the females and

two for the men.

I think that would be more fun to

watch.

I always just find anytime we're just

sitting down, it just looks dumb.

It looks dumb.

CrossFat says at least they made it in

a font that the old people could read.

Agreed.

um i'm i hear exactly what you're saying

i've about legends a lot i came in

tonight wanting to about legends and not

sure if i was going to because i

don't even know who's at fault but at

least this is high skill for once it

is a this is a what i would

call a games type workout finally

But I do hate seated rope climbs for

what Carolyn said.

It's just a bad look.

Even though it's a higher skill and I

respect what they're trying to do with it,

if you're watching it as a spectator,

it just looks weird when everybody's

sitting down.

I would just rather see two legless where

you're running and then you jump up, boom,

come back down, go.

I think that would look better.

but I do want to give them credit

for it.

This is actually a pretty good workout.

Yeah.

So, um, anyway, that just got,

that just got released.

Um,

I had a thing about only six events.

I guess I don't have to bitch about

that unless I am doing that for forty

five to.

Seventy plus.

But.

What I do want to say and and

my the feelings I'm expressing are mine

and mine alone, mine, Scott Switzer,

not my co-hosts.

Just mine.

Is that.

Two years ago,

we had nine events for Masters athletes at

the games.

Last year, we had eight.

Now,

seven if you're a forty-four or under,

six if you're forty-five and up.

They keep going down and down and down.

They cut the field.

They have their own venue for three days.

Dedicated to just them.

Yet we can't.

And some of the events are super fast.

Couple minutes long.

So why in the bloody hell do we

keep reducing the number of workouts?

These are the elite athletes in these age

groups.

The best of the best.

They should be tested as such.

And six events doesn't cut it.

End of story.

That's all I got to say about that.

But I was so pissed off this weekend

because I'm flying all the way across the

country to see my two friends compete at

the CrossFit Games.

And I've met so many other Masters

athletes, so a lot of them.

And the fact that I'm going all this

way and I don't get there till Wednesday

and I'm only going to see like two

events just pisses me off.

Yeah,

and I still think they have an issue

with, like, putting on a show and, like,

making them spectator-friendly workouts.

Like,

the row he and Stan lost one is

going to be extremely hard to follow as

a reason.

Yep.

You won't know who you are in that

race.

I don't even know who to fully blame

because I don't know how much CrossFit has

a hand in it,

if they care at all,

if they don't care and they're just

letting it go.

But yet they're restricting the people.

I don't even know where the blame lies

in the whole thing.

It's just ugly.

And I saw comments about we should just

boycott.

You lose the Masters in the Open,

you're losing a lot of money.

That's all I got to say.

You lose a handful of elite athletes,

no big deal.

You can keep moving on.

People will take their place.

But the Masters bring most of the money

to the ball game for that.

And I know nobody wants to watch them,

and I know that I'm the only one

there in the stands, which is a lie,

because last year the stands were pretty

damn full for the Masters CrossFit Games

at a ticket price that was ungodly and

still quite a few people.

So, anyway.

I'm going to be curious.

Sorry,

I just started thinking about the legless

workout.

I don't know how many we had at

semifinals the one year,

but like on the female side for seated

legless,

it wasn't more than like a handful and

like a lot of females couldn't do it.

So eight,

I think is going to be a huge.

huge, huge separator,

especially on the female side,

where I just think that's one of the

movements that we lag a little bit behind

on the men's side,

specifically the seated legless.

So I'm wondering if the lower the target,

seeing as we have the same reps as

the men,

if like the men go to the beam

and the women go to like a red

part, or if it's,

but it could have been,

because ours was seated up and down.

I don't know what the rules will be

for this one, if it's just seated up,

but yeah.

Yeah.

CrossFit cross fat says masters usually

bring affiliate members and family.

True.

um there's rooting for you too i think

the tickets so um because lex wasn't isn't

coming anymore so i was trying to get

um a couple people from the gym that

i've been training at here across at

sublime um and uh we were looking at

like single day tickets and it was like

one twenty five per day for like one

day ticket and like a hundred twenty five

to see the same workout like seven eight

times i don't know how many divisions we

have but like that's crazy

Oh,

hundred and twenty five to go in and

watch like on the on the Tuesday,

there's only one workout that you're going

to see.

Correct.

Yeah.

Like at least at least or for most

people on Tuesday and Thursday and

Thursday, they're only seeing one workout.

And then on the Wednesday is the day

that is more worth it because then you

get three events.

But the other two days,

you're only seeing the athletes really

twice.

So that's extremely expensive for people

to come watch.

Okay, so that makes a great point.

Flow Elite is cheaper than a ticket to

the games.

That's true.

Hopefully the stream is good.

Carolyn did bring up a point before we

went live on the air that it appears

that men and women may be going at

the same time,

which is another reason that why the hell

are we cutting the number of events down

if you're running two floors?

Totally agree.

But there it is.

Denise said something up here.

I'm trying to find it.

But they also need more volunteers.

Well,

when you're trying to run two floors,

you're going to need a lot of volunteers.

You need double everything for every

event.

It is what it is.

That's true.

Becca Voigt-Miller in the chat.

men do the rope climb legless women just

have a seated start based off of the

living document thanks becca that makes

sense that would be yeah that makes sense

so it's like half legless basically until

you can get your feet that's that changes

it because i i don't think many

in the thirty five to forty four division

would do eight seated legless on the

female side like i just think most people

would get cast so i like that it

changes it a little bit more i still

don't like the seated position to start i

just think it ruins the flow thank you

for that because it that went live becca

went after we went live on the air

so we all we had was the instagram

I'm at dinner,

so I'm going to leave you guys.

Have a great dinner.

And I'll see you tomorrow.

I'm going to make the drive down tomorrow

morning.

Have a safe flight.

If you didn't hear me.

What was I going to say?

And the two hundred and forty feet.

I'm wondering then if the floor is in.

Thirty feet increments.

And let's say it's eight times, one, two,

three, four.

So that'll be probably the same case for

the handstand walk is thirty feet.

But like in five foot sections,

if I were to guess.

Avera asked, Carolyn,

would legless cap most women if they only

had to go to twelve feet versus fifteen

feet for men?

I still I still think the seated legless

is super hard.

Like when even like think about the

alpaca.

I mean,

I get that rig is much higher,

but like,

no one could even do six seated.

I mean,

I think that was up and down.

Now,

I just don't remember if the regionals was

up and down.

I think it was up and down,

which is why I'm thinking that it was

like, so so so difficult.

Just on the way up.

I still think it it's hard for

the majority of the field,

you would get some finishers, of course.

But I think if you're looking for at

least a third or like half of the

field to finish,

I think that would be difficult for eight,

eight rounds of that seated legless.

You're right.

We know,

do we know all the events now for

masters?

We do.

All of them.

So eight scored events.

I'm assuming it's a hundred and a hundred

on the row one.

I'm assuming.

So yeah,

eight scored events for two divisions and

seven scored events for the remaining

divisions.

I think the teenagers only have six scored

events, which is crazy as well.

And adaptive division.

The other thing they announced is the kits

you guys are going to be receiving,

which was a little more bountiful than

what was initially rumored.

I mean,

I heard one shirt and one pair of

shorts.

Yeah,

I was seeing a lot of the Yeti

stuff.

One of my friends works for,

I think the sponsorship stuff for just

CrossFit in general.

And she was telling me that the divisional

games are completely separated in terms of

what they receive and all that.

So I think that's all we're gonna get

is the elite days.

I don't know how much of like the

other sponsors that we really get or if

those sponsors are mostly just for the

main show of like the teams and the

individual athletes.

But yeah, it's like two t-shirts,

a tank top,

maybe two pairs of shorts and a pair

of leggings.

And then we're only forced to wear the

work,

that's higher one of the workouts each day

and they'll let us know which one of

the workouts i'm assuming it's maybe one

of their more prime time flow leaks stuff

um yeah so the other times you can

wear whatever you want as long as it's

not um like bad words or political stuff

that they also said to not put on

your shirt and that's about all the

restraints i think

um they also you also get grips and

you get wristbands and sports bras yeah

yeah but i don't think we're getting shoes

though i like the valitez shoes that we

got last year uh with the regular uh

games i wear those quite often yeah like

they're comfy but yes they do have a

very euro fit um and

The shirts are actually really

comfortable,

but my thing last year was they only

do crop tops.

finishes for the female.

So they only had female tank tops that

were crop tops and the T-shirts were all

crop tops.

So I had a big bust last year

and essentially cried and got them to give

me a men's T-shirt.

So I'm hoping because I've emailed them

multiple times during the year to say that

not everyone wears crop tops.

It's certainly not everyone in the

master's division is going to be

comfortable wearing crop tops.

I'm not comfortable wearing crop top.

So I hope

I hope they will bring a regular fitting

t-shirt or tank top for some athletes.

So,

because if we're forced to wear one of

their things,

I brought shirts from last year that had

my name on it, preparing that, like,

I'm not wearing that crop top on the

floor.

I don't care what they say.

I'll wear a Revo Belitez or just a

Belitez CrossFit t-shirt.

So I hope they'll let me.

I'm sure they will.

If it's just Belitez.

Terrible Tessa says,

I hate wearing crop tops too.

Um,

CrossFat says that their velites is a very

Euro fit.

And someone wanted to know what is a

Euro fit?

Kenneth,

what is a Euro fit for us non-world

travelers?

A little smaller, a little tighter.

Denise says not everyone wears shorts.

This is very true too.

So a lot of like...

games out these like they they want to

wear leggings right like you do barbell

stuff road climb stuff um and having like

one pair of leggings for the whole weekend

is you know not not the best so

i just wish that like if you if

they would send us an email for sizing

and stuff and like if they already had

the clothes already picked up and be like

i want three of that three of that

like don't even worry about sending me

this i'm not gonna wear it

Like, I just wish we could do that.

So people could just be comfortable on the

floor because the worst thing is to,

you know,

you want to be just out there on

the floor and performing and not have to

think about, you know, being,

it could be self-conscious.

It could be uncomfortable.

It could be the wrong fit.

You just want to be able to like

compete.

And when you're forced to wear things that

you're not comfortable with,

it's just another factor that shouldn't be

in there.

So hopefully they'll figure out clothes

this year.

um let's move to the open division i

see the chat talking a lot so i'm

going to address it very quickly but not

more as much as you guys think i

may or may not whatever i i am

aware of what happened today with the

barbell spin releasing a video with

accusations against the savan podcast

From the beginning of this rift between

the two of them, I have said,

I hate that it's happening.

I really hate that it's happening three

days before the games.

The attention should be on the athletes

and the amazing performances that they

have put forth to get to the CrossFit

Games.

I have not talked to Brian Spinn.

I have not talked to anybody on the

Savant team.

I don't know what all is involved with

this.

If what was alleged is true about

critiques made against CrossFit got people

kept out of the games, that is bullshit,

in my opinion.

we live in a country with free speech.

You should be able to say what you

want to say,

and you should be then allowed to go

to places regardless of your opinions.

As long as you are not threatening someone

or doing something dire or using hate

speech,

you should be able to say what you

want to say.

I do not like things being taken out

of context and used.

But again,

I don't know enough details to be able

to comment further than that.

So that's where I'm going to leave it

tonight.

And again,

I have not commented on any of this

rift as it's gone on because I have

friends on both sides.

I respect people on both sides.

There are people on both sides that I

don't get along with well.

And I just don't know all the details

enough to be able to speak more to

it than that.

So with that,

we'll move on to the people that deserve

the attention.

And those are the athletes who have made

it to the CrossFit Games.

CrossFit said, don't agree with it,

but Portnoy and Big Cat made killer

content when the NFL banned them.

Barstool Sports blew up when they started

getting banned from places.

It's all how you take it and what

you do with it to move forward.

And there are very talented people that

are now banned who can take that

opportunity and use it to their advantage.

Um, so with that, with that, the,

they released media in,

in they released media information to the

media members coming to the CrossFit

games.

It is,

it is locked down more this year than

it's ever been locked down.

Um,

because of the exclusive broadcast rights

of flow elite, um,

You cannot film anything live from the

CrossFit Games until like forty eight

hours after the games have ended,

which I don't know how you can do

live after it's over.

But those were the instructions we were

given.

So essentially, you can talk live,

you can be at the venue live,

but you cannot take anything of the floor

live during the games.

Let's call that the Corinne Pepper rule.

mean that makes sense right you see it

i mean you'll still see some people

probably film their their favorite athlete

on instagram live here and there but like

they're they are such small accounts that

it's hard to we will see this looked

a lot more that's sent to the media

but like there's fans that will do

sometimes you know live and it is what

it is sometimes but i've been to concerts

now where if you pull your phone out

you you could be asked to leave

Oh, really?

Yeah.

I don't go to enough concerts.

So, yeah,

my wife went to a concert that if

you pulled your phone out,

you were asked to leave.

Escorted out, I should actually say.

I have to subscribe to the flow elite

tomorrow.

I've told myself that.

So I have two accounts now because you

can't,

you can't have more than one person, uh,

watch it at a time from a different

location.

So I'm like subscribing for my,

my family back home.

And then Lex will also want to watch.

So she has one there.

So, um, I mean,

you have to expect that at some point,

like it goes behind the paywall,

like a lot of sports are heading that

way.

Um,

I don't mind.

I don't mind paying like it sucks,

but like I don't mind paying thirty

dollars to like I'm just such a fan

of CrossFit.

I just know it's going to other people

might not watch certain events or maybe

they're not going to watch at all this

year.

But and they'll wait to see the

leaderboard or whatever pop up on

Instagram.

But I don't know.

To me, you know,

I go to a restaurant and it's around

that time or, you know,

that price to go out for dinner like

you can pay for it.

to subscribe if you really are interested

in watching.

You can't take photos.

You can't take photos of the live event.

You just can't broadcast the event live to

any platform.

You can even take video as long as

it follows a very prescribed rule.

But you just cannot broadcast live.

One of the things that I just didn't

really like from the way that they put

the Flow Elite is sometimes the women's

heat is on Flow Elite only or sometimes

the men's heat is on Flow Elite only.

I don't like that.

I feel like either both of them are

on Flow Elite or they're both not.

It's only one occurrence,

but I knew what you mean.

I think it's event fifteen.

Women only is on the paywall.

There's like two or three of them,

I thought.

But I thought that was just weird.

I don't particularly like that.

CrossFit,

I do believe it's going to be Hamilton

Roads for this year,

but I do think that Flo is going

to try to

If you listen to their co-founder on the

CrossFit podcast,

I think they're going to ramp up after

this year and create their own team to

do these things.

So just so I so half, like,

let's say half of the events are on

flow lead.

And the other half are still on YouTube

for people to watch free.

Is that how I understood?

So it's seventy five percent.

Seventy five percent of the events are not

behind the paywall.

Okay.

And they'll be on flow,

YouTube and the games channel.

And Flow is doing something awesome where

they're giving prizes,

like money prizes for best,

I don't know if it's best performance or

a gritty type performance.

Like I think about something like someone

like, you know,

Rebecca Foussier maybe a few years ago

could have maybe have gotten an extra

bonus for, you know,

perseverance or however you want to call

it.

They say it's like grittiest performance.

Yeah.

I don't know how they're going to judge

that,

but it's still putting money into the

ecosystem.

So,

Good for them.

I think like the fusillade thing would be

an easy call.

That event,

you would say Rebecca deserves it.

But other ones,

it's going to be a tough call who

got the grittiest performance.

So I did enjoy that.

Made me want to chip in my thirty

bucks a bit more.

But the only thing I was concerned with

is like,

let's say we're going all the time,

especially the Masters division,

men and women at the same time.

How are they going to juggle the races?

Is there going to be a feature that

you can choose the woman or the men's

floor?

on their website.

I hope that they allow you to choose

both,

but I'm not sure that they would have

the broadcasters for both.

I think it's going to be similar maybe

to Legends where sometimes you just kind

of miss half the race.

Not ideal.

I'll wait and see after the events for

more judgment.

There's also Strava is the new wearable

No, I don't think it was Strava.

I think it started with a W or

something.

Yeah, I tried to find it real quick,

but it's buried.

Here it is.

Wuro, W-O-U-R-O, sorry.

Wuro.

They are doing bounties for certain

events.

So they are doing bounties for event one,

They are actually going to give a bounty

for the total,

the actual total of the total.

And then the event, ten, twelve, fifteen,

sixteen, eighteen, and twenty.

So yeah,

it's a total of sixty eight thousand

dollars added to the prize pool.

Love it.

So like, you know, some of these athletes,

you know,

you've got twenty events or

attempts at trying to get a prize

possibly.

I'm assuming CrossFit's still doing maybe

the prize also for the first.

There used to be like a three thousand

for a first,

second was like two thousand and third was

maybe an additional thousand.

Assuming that there's some sort of prize

money to each event.

If you have a wheelhouse workout that you

can go for, you just go for it.

Especially because there's

Twenty athletes out of the field of sixty.

So, you know,

a third of the athletes are going home

most likely with zero dollars, you know,

twenty first to thirty.

So, you know,

I like that these sponsors are adding a

bit more money.

I'm fifty six years old with bad eyes.

So apparently it's work.

W.U.R.Q.

uh did a lion roar behind carolyn uh

she's at a starbucks someone was probably

getting some steamed milk no they're

cleaning the tables and i think like drag

the whole table um okay so there's that

we know a little bit more this week

we know there's a five hundred meter run

and we know there's a speed snatch ladder

that was released we not call it a

sprint though that is not a sprint

I understand why you say that.

To me as a spectator,

that terminology doesn't matter to me.

They're just going to run fast.

Yes, it's who can run fast the longest.

It's not a sprint.

It's like a completely different energy

system.

Your top sprinters, top, top,

top sprinters,

that's not necessarily their race.

The demo team was announced.

And I have that here.

So we have Rafa Sanson is the captain

of the demo team.

Grace Walton and Chris Ibarra representing

Proven.

I mean, add the demo team.

Then we have Bill Leahy, Emily Rolfe,

and Sydney Smith.

I actually think these are pretty good

choices other than the connection to

camps,

which is really just the proven camp.

I think the other three are unaffiliated.

that's what i like about like rolf is

not connected i don't think to anyone and

she's a great tester and can give very

good you know data sydney i don't think

i think she's invictus maybe so i don't

think that she's and then she also has

some team experience so maybe could um

give some input for some of the team

workouts same with rafa bill i think does

his own thing as well so he's not

connected it's just the other two that

would be connected to proven

Yeah.

What's worse?

Your dating partner being on a demo team

or a twin?

What do you think is...

I think a twin.

You're a twin.

Yeah.

You have that connection.

We don't even have to speak.

Yeah.

Okay.

A partner too, though.

Your dating partner is...

It's bad.

I think a twin is just a tick

worse.

I'll agree.

I'll agree with that one.

But both are fit.

It's just, yeah.

I don't know how... I mean,

every year there's kind of conflict of

interest on the demo team.

The perception doesn't look great for

multiple reasons when people are connected

to people that are competing,

but

They continue to do it every year.

But they are fit and they will give

great data, I'm sure.

And I'm hoping that most of the events

are pretty much finalized and they might

just be doing most of the team workouts,

I'm assuming.

Yeah,

I told you before we went live that

I saw Emily did the trail run and

she's the perfect person to test that.

Awesome person.

She will give you the, the,

the top end where that's going to be.

Yeah.

Yeah.

She's great.

So, um,

and like grace is probably the best

swimming tester.

So I think like they have some really

good people there.

I bar is just like good at everything.

Yeah.

He's well rounded.

So like,

I feel like he can give some really

good, um,

dad as well,

and Rafa's been there forever.

I feel like he's always testing.

I think each member kind of brings

something

you know, to the table.

Like back then,

there used to be like a strength

specialist, a gymnastic specialist.

It's kind of like a well-rounded.

I feel like, you know,

this is just a fit group of athletes

here that they're on the bubble basically

at any stage of the year.

They're right there.

So I think they'll get all the information

that they need to test.

So let me ask you this.

Who is more beat up coming into the

games?

a CrossFit Games athlete, or Rafa Sanson?

He goes through the ringer.

I feel like he tests like five versions

of things.

Does he live in California?

I believe he lives right there.

That's why he's used.

He's just a guinea pig for everything.

That's why Allie Scuds got used all the

time because she lived right there,

like Santa Cruz, Aromas area.

yeah and like i assume that you know

he is also uh what's the word like

has good integrity that he's been able to

um do the workouts is able to you

know keep his mouth shut to to stay

on the demo team um the last couple

years or just as a tester right because

that says a lot when you're able to

get you know a lot of testing and

they keep asking you back because keep

your mouth shut which is i mean ideally

what you want for the games is to

not have any people have advantage so i

hope i really hope that it's not the

case this year that there's no leaks and

that it's a fair test they've released a

lot of the workouts they're going to

release over half of them but some of

the secret ones you hope that the testers

have kept their mouth pretty shut we'll

see uh he did

Sorry.

He doesn't really look like Dave's type.

He's willing to do everything,

and that's Dave's type.

And I would say the video he did

with Greg Glassman in learning the

backward roll to support is one of the

best videos I've seen in a while.

And I actually jumped up when he got

it.

I was excited that he was able to

get it.

Eric Mackey asks,

how much really does change week of the

games due to last minute testing?

All I can tell you is what I

know from personal experience of

volunteering at North Park during the

twenty seventeen games.

A lot changed.

from my experience there was you know the

test is already made um but there's some

stuff that you can't do until the whole

floor is laid out so it could be

adjustments to time caps as sorry

someone's moving the table it could be

adjustments to time caps as the

transitions are kind of getting calculated

or now you're getting top athletes tested

so before this

you were getting good testers maybe high

level semi-final athletes now you're

getting some games athletes that are like

been there a while and can give you

better information on how the events are

going to be for them so you might

see a few time cap change maybe a

movement or two change but for the most

part it's pretty set but there could be

some changes last minute

Yeah, personally,

I was there for strongman's fear.

The weight of the Viking things,

that changed the week of the games.

The way the rope was connected to the

sled changed the week of the games.

The hay bales for the Madison triplet,

the position of the hay bales changed

three times.

And I had to lug the hay bales.

So I personally know.

the times it moved and i was ready

to quit volunteering that night because

that was the hardest i've ever worked in

my life um but that's what i know

from personal experience and maybe they're

more dialed in now than they were back

then because seventeen was the first time

they were in madison so it was a

whole new venue they probably didn't get

they built the

that north park that week so they didn't

get a lot of time out there testing

on it

think the fact that they were able to

go to san jose at the sap center

multiple times probably helped a lot as

well just to kind of dial in some

some things because i don't think i don't

know that in the past they went to

the venue and could really test much at

the venue um so i'm assuming most of

it's probably done they're probably doing

some team like i think the demo team

right now is most likely doing a lot

of team testing um and maybe

Some few little individual stuff.

I did see in the behind the scenes,

the one that came out today,

they went to the SAP center,

they quadruple checked the weights,

the bars, all that stuff,

and forgot to take chalk to do their

testing.

So, Avera, no,

Masters is not at the SAP.

They're at the convention center down the

street.

i think it's the san jose convention

center i think is what it's called have

they announced where the run is it just

says like i was trying to look on

um my information i don't know if a

master is in the comments or not but

our masters athlete but it said i think

it's a green park arena do you know

if that's attached or is it a part

of the convention center

I'll be honest,

because I'm not going to be there Tuesday,

I didn't pay a whole lot of attention

to it because I didn't,

I wasn't going to have to be there.

Fair enough.

I mean,

I'm assuming we'll get it tomorrow at the

briefing anyways.

Averitt, she has that,

what we are now calling the slippery ball

run,

which is the med ball run with the

non-med ball run and the med ball run

again and

This run.

Yeah.

The need a chiropractor that night run.

I could only practice with a twenty five

pound,

so I'm just I'm hoping that the thirty

just feels about the same as a twenty

five.

Both gyms that I was at twenty five

was the most that they had for the

wall ball.

So I think that should be gave me

a good idea of what it would be.

That damn thing is so big.

CrossFit wants to know your favorite

shark.

Pavelski?

No, I like... Pavelski is good.

He went to Wisconsin, so I'll say him.

There you go.

I got to train with him and do

some stadium stairs.

I'll go with him.

So then predictions.

Do you have any predictions for the open

division athletes?

It is so hard.

I can't imagine being in a women's

field...

like those girls now,

especially those top girls,

like when you went to the games every

other year,

like you knew you were going for second

or below, you know,

whether Tia was in a field or Laura,

like it's wide open this year.

It's completely wide open.

I changed my picks like five times today.

I know it's hard.

I mean, I love someone like Lucy Campbell.

I like Emma Lawson's well-roundedness just

overall.

I think Kazan could be in the mix.

I think Danielle's in the mix always.

Who am I missing right now?

So here's my top three.

Just is Kazan.

It's hard to, yeah.

Mine is Kazan one, Rogers two,

Campbell three.

But I've had Emma Lawson in the top

three, too.

So like Emma right now is not someone

that I'm kind of picking on any of

the events to like win,

but she's just not doesn't have many

holes.

Like even on the total,

I don't see her being that far back.

Like she's not taking a huge hit.

on the strength like i mean i think

her olympic lifting strength is stronger

than her raw strength but i still think

she's strong enough to do damage there um

yeah i think those five that i named

i think are going to be in the

mix uh on the men's side i have

sprague one adler two gerard three those

are the three that come up in my

head too those three

With Tony events,

I think you have to look at the

most well-rounded.

Jason just there as well.

There's so many good on both sides.

It is anybody's game.

Yeah.

John Young,

y'all go over the last one announced.

Yes, we did.

And Becca Voigt clarified some details on

us because it actually was announced while

we were live.

And it is my favorite as well of

the Masters events.

Has anyone heard confirmation on which

events on Wednesday are open to RX Plus

ticket holders?

It is my understanding, Wade,

that Wayne is anything at Morgan Hill is

what is open to RX Plus.

the ranch is off limits for tier one

media and RX plus that is just the

athletes.

Ken Walters says everything but ranch

event and swimming will be cut off.

Uh,

Carolyn,

if you had to partition the following

however you want,

how would you approach it?

Thirty-minute cap, a hundred bench press,

one thirty-five, ninety-five,

row two hundred, one fifty,

row cow two hundred,

and three hundred double unders.

Maybe you start I mean,

you basically go back and forth between

the bench anytime that you need.

Anytime that you feel like your arms are

about to

give out a little bit, you know,

you do a little set of, you know,

thirty to fifty double unders,

go back to the bench.

Ideally,

you end on the road and you just

save on the transitions there.

If you want to start on the road

by in a little bit with some intensity,

then go back and forth between the double

unders and the bench until you're done,

your bench and your dogs,

you can just kind of finish.

I say that as a person and then

and then you finish on the road so

that you finish hard on the road.

No matter what you finish on the road.

i wouldn't do like ten rounds that's too

many transitions um yeah that's how i do

it uh i feel like raptus is about

to surprise the world uh i just don't

see it i think she'll be okay but

i don't i think someone like miriam could

do very well and we no one's kind

of talking about her um yeah miriam's

gonna be up there i think again this

year

think a big wild card is danielle and

you mentioned her i because she could

she's good she's just good at everything

but then i keep seeing the syndicate in

my head where she kept overheating and

like i don't know i don't everything keeps

going back and forth in my head she's

just got to survive the total do what

she needs to do there

take an L on the hundred and fifty

points and then do well on everything

else.

Yeah.

CrossFed says the lettuce parasite is

hunting Raptus like a predator.

She catches everything.

Yeah,

Raptus like looked good at Syndicate like

you know towards the back end like once

she got like basically got done with day

one.

which affected her.

I mean, yeah, she's there.

This is the deepest field, I think.

Oh, your mic went out, Carolyn.

You're still, it's all static.

Can you hear me now?

Yep.

This is the deepest field that we've seen

on both sides.

So like, honestly, I feel like

Anyone can do so well.

Like everyone has their strengths and

weaknesses and can, I feel like,

basically win workouts.

I'm excited to see them go after it.

Like it's a strong field on both.

Your mic keeps,

I think your headphone wire has like a

tiny short in it.

And now you're muted.

But I'm going to address this.

If no vendor offers a veggie Raptus wrap,

they're missing a golden opportunity.

CrossFit says Raptus should only eat

steamed veggies.

And Kipping says someone tell her not to

eat any salad.

That poor girl.

Yeah.

Since it's the day of beefs,

I did find out today that Lauren Khalil

is hosting the press conferences.

So my chance of getting any questions

asked of the athletes is probably nil and

next to none.

But I'm still going to do whatever.

I don't even know what I'm doing this

year.

I'm just going to have fun.

And I don't even know what I'm allowed

to do or...

I don't know.

We'll see.

I think you'll be fine.

If you lift your hand,

you don't just ignore someone.

We actually talked after the beef,

but I just don't know where we stand

totally at this point.

No more questions.

Thanks.

Anyway.

It's going to be a short show tonight.

Jamie's heading for a plane.

Carolyn's driving out tomorrow.

I'm flying out Wednesday.

Really bummed I missed the first half of

the Masters competition.

But I'll be at the Masters on Wednesday

and Thursday.

If you are a Masters athlete,

I just want to chat with you,

get some interviews, get some content.

Come find me.

I'll be around.

I do have media credentials for Masters,

so I'm allowed in the ring around the

floor this time,

which is better than I had last year.

So hopefully we'll get some good shots and

I can talk to some Masters athletes.

And then we'll do whatever we can in

the Open Division.

Um, good luck girls from Lana,

the rock star.

Thank you.

Um, uh, Carolyn,

will you and Jamie be coming on Clydesdale

between events?

I haven't really talked to them cause I'm

getting there halfway through their event,

but you,

are you still staying for the whole

weekend, Carolyn?

Yeah,

so I'm going to obviously compete until

Thursday,

and then I'll stay with some friends from

the CrossFit Sublime that I train at here

for the rest of the weekend and watch

the individuals and teams both.

So I'm there all weekend until Sunday.

So maybe we can hook up live and

do a couple live short shows.

Yeah, I could do that.

During the event.

Yep.

So we'll do that.

I'll hook up with Carolyn after she's done

competing.

And we'll get some stuff set up.

I think Jamie's staying the whole weekend

too.

So we might be able to rotate through

some stuff over the weekend and just do

a few live shows live from San Jose.

Somewhere in San Jose.

Not guaranteed where.

I was going to say from a suite

just as a joke,

but then it's probably too soon.

I was just about to say.

Everyone's welcome.

Live on the podcast.

It's really going to be at the Travel

Lodge down on Fourth and Vine.

All right, guys.

Hope you just got a killer deal on

sweet seeds.

Nicole, that is right.

She is staying to help Coach Declan,

but I'm sure we can lure her over

for a show or two.

So with that,

I hope you guys have a great rest

of your night.

Tomorrow's lunch with the Clydesdale is

going to be at a weird time.

Our vendor scheduled me for a meeting

right at twelve thirty.

So I'm going to talk to Corey tomorrow

morning.

We're going to get something set up

tomorrow.

And.

Yeah.

Oh, that'd be a fun game.

Where in San Jose is Scott?

The Clydesdale.

where in the world is mr clydesdale gotta

have enough like there we go anyway bad

singing then the show with that we'll see

everybody next time on sunday sunday

sunday night crossfit talk

Sunday
