Inspirational Media - Conversations

Harry Greenwood, a veteran revival preacher and global speaker, guides listeners through a practical exploration of prayer, fasting, and hearing God in a personal, transformative way.
The talk emphasizes that prayer changes you and can change circumstances; it highlights hearing God's voice directly, practicing the presence of God, and praying in the Holy Spirit—including tongues, groanings, and intercession—to break strongholds and bring healing. It also underlines the discipline of waiting on God, thanking Him, and aligning with His will so that prayers are answered with confident faith.
Listeners will come away with actionable steps: cultivate a living prayer life with appreciation and praise; wait on God to reveal His will; pray in the Spirit for specific needs; receive by faith and thank God for the answer; and expect God to move in personal needs, family, and even national issues.

6414--Harry Greenwood--Lord Teach us to Pray_128k

00:00:00 Speaker: Praise God, I have a wonderful time traveling around the world, and since I was last here in New Zealand, I've been to America a few times, and Sweden and Finland and Denmark several times. In Sweden and Finland have also been to Africa and Kenya and also Tanzania. It's wonderful to see God's Spirit moving everywhere I go in the world. There is no place in the world that God is not moving by His Spirit. Now that's a great encouragement to people at this end of the world. When God said, go to the uttermost parts of the world. He wasn't really kidding. That's New Zealand, and he put you far enough away from everybody. I think there may be a reason for that. I'm not quite sure about it, but I do think I do thank God that he saves the best things till last. Anyway, so I arrived in New Zealand. But the thing that God has sent me here and I was very conscious all the time, I was in all the time I've been in New Zealand of God, very deliberate speaking and leading. Now, when God speaks, I know his voice. And something happens inside of me. Something is electrified. It's just wonderful. You know what it's like when all of a sudden the Holy Spirit comes upon the Word of God and it leaps out at you, and it's thus saith the Lord to you and think, oh, this is fantastic. And you run and show your pastor or somebody else look, look at this verse. What about it? Well it's alive. Well, yes, I've read it many times, but it's not speaking to him. But it's speaking to you. And today God is speaking to us individually. He's leading us individually. And people are now getting to know the Lord personally in a way they've never known him before. It's wonderful what the Holy Spirit is doing. He's making things that we've heard about before a reality. And even the simple people are not left out like myself. But one thing I have noticed, and I'm going to try and deal with each subject that God gives me from the Word of God, and also from my own experience, one of the biggest things I see missing in this country is prayer, not praying. A lot of people are praying, but they're not really praying. What I mean is effective prayer. Prayer that has an effect on the person that is praying, and also on the community that they're in, also through their lives, and also in relationship to their family and to their work and other things. Now, one thing that I have inherited from the Lord, and that was a praying experience and a time in my life when God showed me how to pray. Now a lot of people just are satisfied with just a short prayer, or they pray for their family now and then, or they pray for people now and then as they feel they should do. They're satisfied with that. Well, I'm not satisfied with my prayer life, and I believe that God has shown me how to break through in many situations that you couldn't get through under normal. Now, Jesus did say when they had trouble with this spirit. He said, this sword cometh not out, but by fasting and praying. And there's a time, and there should be a time in every man's life when he begins to fast and he begins to pray. I've come through this school of fasting and praying so far in New Zealand. I've been fasting twice now. This is unusual for me when I'm in another country for God to tell me to fast, because I just had a fast before Christmas, and God spoke to me in a new way and revealed things that I could not find out under my normal spiritual flow of life. I had to come aside. I had to get things out of my life, get em dealt with. And then God was prepared to speak to me in a new way. Now I believe we need to hear from God in a new way. Every person, not just through a preacher, not through just a minister or God's servant, no matter who it might be. We need to hear also directly from God. And this comes out of your prayer life, your meditation with God. We must practice the presence of God. So we are not constantly losing God when and and also we are developing a fellowship with God whereby it doesn't take us an hour to break through in prayer. We can pray immediately. Jesus prayed at times, um, publicly, but he also prayed privately. He spent a lot of time in prayer and fellowship, and he wasn't talking to his father all the time. His father was speaking to him. I want to start on this subject, and I want to go right through. As God, as the Holy Spirit leads, and I believe that many of your lives will be affected, but also God will put a burden on these meetings for you to pray. Now, I've come here to reach out because I love you. And I know that in my own heart I have a tremendous love. And I'm not trying to pull the wool over your eyes. Bless your hearts. You know, I know in a lot of people, you know, oh, I forget it doesn't matter. But I'm not trying to do that in any way. And God has given me this wonderful love. And I really believe that's from God Himself. I am not just satisfied to see people healed. I want to see such a healing in their lives that the whole lives will be so patched up by God, not patched up, but renewed by the Lord that there'll be effective everywhere they go. I want to see God doing something, do something. So I'm expecting in these meetings, as I reach out to know the Lord in a greater measure. I expect also as you reach out in prayer God to do something in your lives as well. I'm here because I mean business with God. I don't generally speak like this as as the beginning of introducing a message, but I felt tonight it was. It's absolutely imperative that you see that this whole country can be moved by a praying people. If my people, which are called by my name in two Chronicles seven fourteen, if my people, not somebody else's people, are called by my name, if they could only come together and pray, well, it's not possible to to bring them together. First, each individual has to find a find a prayer life. Prayer life. A life that's effective in prayer, so that when they come together, they'll begin to pray. Now, God showed me a couple of points about prayer while I was waiting on him. First he said, praying changes you, but prayer changes things and people praying changes you. You are changed in your praying and that's wonderful. That's the only time God has of doing a real work deep down in your heart, because there's not many people can spend a couple of hours in the presence of God without God speaking to them about something that is wrong. And if you're not prepared to God for God to speak to your heart, then it's no good you're seeking God to pray. You must be prepared because you'll go. You'll be the first to go through the fire before the fire falls on anybody else. Amen. And the man's ministry. And a man's ministry is born out of his prayer life. He's born out of his prayer life. The fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. Elijah was a man of like passion as us. But he prayed and God brought the rain. Hallelujah. And I can remember in Phoenix, Arizona, they asked me, they said, Brother Greenwood, would you pray? We've had no rain for months. No rain. Would you pray? We're in a terrible state. Ask for it. In a public meeting like this, I said I will. The day I leave. Well, everywhere I go I get jolly rain, you see. And in England we have it all the time. So I said, if you don't mind, I'm in Arizona and I love the sun and everything else, if you don't mind. So now this is quite unusual. Now what I'm saying I can prove I prayed the day I left for it to rain. And here's the notice. And they sent me the cutting from the paper. Most unusual? No scientific explanation for a cloudburst. They had a they had a it really rained so that everybody knew it. But there was no scientific, no warning, no nothing. No. We and then these people that had sent it had written right down the bottom of this piece from the paper. But we know, don't we, and all that right. And I believe now we don't realize the power that we let loose when we begin to pray. Now I'm talking about prayer. That that's believing prayer. God showed me then on these other three points. He said he wants somebody who would, first of all, feel what they pray. Now you've got to really have compassion, and you've got to really love a person before you can pray. I defy anybody that can pray. Otherwise, you've got to really feel what you pray. You've got to really have it right there. And God gives you this. And it's really wonderful when you begin to pray. I know people, I've wept for them when I prayed, but I couldn't do it for everyone. God has given me his compassion, and there is this wonderful compassion that will cause you to pray all night if necessary. Folks, we don't really love each other the way we really should because we don't pray for each other the way we should. Now there is a place because the Holy Spirit has been poured out. Now there's a place, a new place for prayer that the church has never been in before. They've never been in before. They won't read it in the book. You'll read about an individual's prayer life. That's wonderful. But this is the whole church now. We're in a place of prayer today where we can move the hand of God for this country and for the government and for anything else. There's very there's there's nothing that can prevent God working. If the church would just get itself sorted out. God didn't have a problem with Nineveh. He just had a problem with Jonah. And once he got his servant right, then Nineveh was put right, got itself sorted out as well. And I believe this country once I believe that in this country, once the church has got itself on its right basis and foundation and really begins to pray. Hallelujah. Then this country will start getting right. And it's not big. There's only three million people. Just think of it. Three million people, that's all. God. A God that's bigger than three million people. Amen. If you've got a God that's bigger than three million people, then you've got to start feeling, first of all, you've got to feel what you pray. If you don't feel what you pray, you won't stay on your knees. And you've got to feel it till you know in your own spirit. You've got what you've prayed for. And then you get off your knees rejoicing. The most glorious Christian you can ever meet is a prayer. Praying Christian who gets his prayers answered. The most miserable Christian is one with a big long list who has always praying for people, and he never gets any answers. And the only way to get off the list is to die. Well, we shouldn't have that sort of prayer list, I believe. Now we feel what we pray. Amen. The next thing is to believe what we pray. We don't get down to believe. We get down because we believe. You notice I say get down. Well, there are times when I can pray standing. There are times when I can pray kneeling. There are times when I've been flat on my face, crying out to God that the presence of God so wonderful, so great. I've been frightened to lift my head. Oh he's Is wonderful. There's a word in the Swedish language is underbart. You can get your teeth into it. He is wonderful. Oh, hallelujah. There's a time in the presence of God where God can reveal himself to you, where he will may never reveal himself in any other place. It's wonderful to be so deep in the presence of God that God Himself is revealed to you. Oh, the things that God wants to show us about himself, that you won't find out by just reading a book. Amen. Right. To feel what we pray. That's one thing to believe what we pray. And then the last thing to receive what we pray. Amen. Amen. To receive what we pray. Now I'm going to just read out a few scriptures. And those of you who are really seeking God on this issue, if you've asked the Lord what he wants you to do, you're going to know after tonight, not everybody will start praying, but most of the people here that have a desire in their heart will begin in a new way to say, Lord, teach me to pray. And I'm going to pray that at the end of this meeting. Saint Paul's parish, second Sunday, and I got more notices in my Bible everywhere I go. I keep everything there because I. I can find it. In one John chapter five. Verse fourteen. And this is the confidence that we have in him. That if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us. And if we know that he hear us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desire of him. Now just think if you're a parent. And there is a place in God where you can pray for your child to be healed or delivered, is there? Yes there is. And this is just it. We have not today been greatly encouraged to pray. Pray, yes, but to receive what we pray for. If every time you went to pray and you were told you wouldn't, you shouldn't pray first until you get the prayer from God that you can receive the answer to. Second, just think of what would happen if you if you had to receive a prayer from God every time you had to pray, what should you pray for? How do you know the will of God? How can you have any confidence that you're going to get what you ask for, unless you know the will of God? Now who knows the will of God? Why? The Holy Spirit knows the will of God. Then as you wait on the Lord, the Lord reveals the way you should pray. Now you must pray specifically the way God reveals to you, because that is the way he's going to answer. It's a tremendous technical thing to pray, but when you're filled with the Holy Spirit, now the Holy Ghost comes to your aid and he deals with the will of God. Let's see how he does it in Romans chapter eight, verse twenty six. You can all find Romans, Romans eight. Likewise the spirit also helpeth our infirmities, for we know not what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself, making intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. He searcheth the hearts, knowing what is the mind of the spirit, because he maketh intercession. Look at that for the saints according to the will of God. He maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. Now I have not spoken in this country about, um, the different types of prayer, but I want to deal with this one simple one tonight, because I want many of you that have come up for prayer afterwards to receive the answer. Sir. Now you're not coming to me. As you've already heard, you're coming to God. And if I wasn't sure of God's will, I wouldn't pray for the sick. But I have never met one person that has been God's will for them to be sick. And I've been praying for, what, twelve years? For the sick? I've prayed for thousands of people, and I've never met one person where God has said, it's not my will to heal them. Isn't that interesting? And I get people that say to me, Brother Greenwood, uh, maybe it's not God's will for me to be healed. I said, what? Jesus spent two thirds of his ministry healing the sick, and now somebody wants to know the will of God. Well, what what was Jesus doing? I have come to do my father's will. I've come to do my father's will. Who went about? Paul tells. I'm sorry. Peter tells us. And Luke, writing in acts chapter ten thirty eight, he said, Jesus was anointed with power, and the Holy Ghost went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil. Let's let's remember where sicknesses come from. And let's remember tonight we're going back to two. Now we know for a fact then that Jesus healed the sick. And as many as touched him were made perfectly whole. You must be absolutely clear about the will of God for your physical body tonight to be healed. Now I can pray, and you can pray, but you're going to receive nothing from God until you know that the prayer you're praying is in the will of God, and that you receive the answer before you leave your knees. You must, before you leave your closet or the place where you pray, know that you've got what you've prayed for, and if you don't know you've got it, you're not going to get it. Because God is not committed to anything till you believe you've got it, then he's committed. Whatsoever things you desire when ye pray, believe that you receive them, and you shall have them. It says so in Mark eleven twenty four. So now we've got the Holy Spirit to help us with the will of God. We've got the Holy Spirit to help us to pray. And here's something that Christians don't do. They do not pray in the Holy Ghost. They speak in tongues, many of them, but they do not pray in the Holy Ghost because they're just speaking in tongues. There is no drive an objective. There is no groaning in the spirit or reaching out to God in prayer. And they don't know they're praying. I know when I'm praying in the Holy Ghost in other tongues, and I'm not just speaking out words, I'm not doing vocal exercise. And the Christian that is not baptized in the Holy Ghost, he has not got an effective prayer life. That's what I say. He may be affected to a measure, but he has not got an effective prayer life, and he hasn't got the potential that the Lord Jesus Christ had himself to go all the way in prayer. I believe that's true. The disciples would never have been told, you know, to tarry in Jerusalem till be endued with power from on high. They were there waiting in prayer. And then Paul really tells us about prayer, and John does. Later on he says, building up yourself in your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, in, um, Jude. Sorry Jude. Verse twenty one I think it is Jude. Jude twenty one building yourself up in your most holy faith. Now, how many Christians are down in the dumps and you come along? And for whose prayers for the for the ministers of the pastors prayer. And when they should be doing their own homework. Folks, if they knew God loved them, if they knew God would answer their prayer, if they knew that they could effectively pray in the Holy Ghost and set themselves free from any demon power, even if the devil himself was sitting on the shoulder. They have power in the Holy Ghost to get him on the run. He says, resist the devil and he will flee from you. He's not going to sit around and listen to you praying in the Holy Ghost. He's going to get out of there as quickly as possible. He's going to leave your home. You take control of your home. You get control on your knees not watching television. You get the program from heaven. And I praise God tonight that God has given us a desire, a given us a desire. The Christian today to take the world. We're no longer saying, here am I, Lord, send him Or we're paying somebody to go to the other end of the world. It's not right. God has called the whole body because he has made them whole. To reach the whole world. Hallelujah! And the world now is no longer saying that God is dead, because there's a very uncomfortable feeling that he's alive. Hallelujah. And if God is alive, and I know he is, because I've just been speaking to him. Thank you. Jesus. He rose again from the dead. I know this. Then he's got something to say today. If he spoke by his son nineteen hundred years ago, he's got something to say through the church today. But he's got to first say it to the church. Now the challenge comes in prayer today. Is your prayer life effective? Is there any real interest in it? Have you any real desire in it? Has anything happened in it? Well, look at Jesus. He prayed. And the disciples who had been looking at the scribes and the Pharisees and all the rest of them, praying in their open places and praying in the synagogue, and they went up in the hour of prayer. And, you know, it was a night Nine hours. They went up in the hour of prayer many times and there was always a prayer meeting going on. Israel knew how to pray. That's why they were always called back by the prophet to pray. If my people which are called by my name. But the disciples turn around when they met Jesus and said, teach us to pray. Teach us to pray. Why? Because they saw what happened when he prayed. Hallelujah! And you won't learn it from a book. The only way you'll learn to pray is by praying. Hallelujah. That's how I got, I got that's how I got through myself. I would say there has to be a personal desire in your own for your for in your own spiritual life before you're ever going to pray. If you don't have a personal desire for the Lord himself, you won't spend long on your knees because you will not get the love that's necessary to pray for some people. Remember a man dying of cancer and he only had four hours to live. And I remember just that. The Lord really moved upon my heart and I started praying at half past ten. I left him at half past eight in the morning. Some of you heard the details before, and that man had passed his cancer. He'd regained consciousness. He passed it from his body. He was cleaned up from the bed, all the mess, the whole thing. And he was set up and said, God bless you, sir. He was given four hours to live. The doctor said, call him in the morning when he passed away. The man stopped breathing three times. But I know I won a victory in that bedroom over cancer. And I got a God that's bigger than cancer tonight. And I've prayed for people with cancer around the world, and I've now seen more cancer cases healed than ever before. Just while I was in Phoenix, Arizona, one of the thrills of of the ministry is when a person comes to know the Lord in a very real way because of receiving healing. There was this lady and I asked for testimonies, and she stood up and she said, I'd like to give my testimony. Two years ago in this one of these meetings, she said, you gave a word of knowledge out of a lady with cancer, and you said where the cancer was. I came forward, you laid hands on me and God healed me. But you said you didn't take your hands off. There was something, um, that made you hesitate. And then all of a sudden, you know, you felt there was something wrong. And then I told you about my real burden. My son was bigger, a bigger burden to me than my cancer. And that's only a mother's love that can that can get that far. Believe you, me. And he's been away from home for six months, and I've never heard from him. Never seen him. I don't know where he is, and I'm more worried about him than I am. My cancer and my hand was still on her, and I can still feel that the power of that spirit. Oh, hallelujah! And the Lord said just to me, and I spoke clearly. I said, your son shall return to you in three days. And she said, oh, thank you, Lord. Didn't question it, didn't ask where it came from, just accepted it from the Lord. And she stood up there. That was two years later, and she stood in front of all those people, and she looked around. Her face was shining. And the biggest thing that ever happened to me was, I said, was my son returned to me on the third day. Hallelujah, folks, it's wonderful to hear from heaven. That woman's whole life was changed, but it did something for me personally when I realized what information is available to us folks. Oh, God wants to bless his people, not just to boost somebody's ministry or make somebody I've started to decrease. The Lord told me I must get down so that the Lord can be free to move. And this is in the truth as I humble myself before God. I bless the Lord. I've seen some wonderful miracles taking place. I'm very privileged to see the work of the Holy Spirit when I can return and see people's lives changed. Many of you here who I know personally to see the work of the Holy Spirit. God answers prayer. Who's been praying? Somebody started praying. And when you know what prayer can really do, folks, then you'll start to get down and your life will be so changed your wife won't even know you. I can remember it happening one night. I was praying, and it was one of those wonderful times of prayer that God gives you. I can remember praying for forty eight hours, no sleep, praying for forty eight hours. Uh, I'm not boasting now. I'm just giving you an idea because some of you may wonder just what sort of praying God may intend you to have. Hallelujah! Who knows? It's not how long you go. It's what happens to you and what goes afterwards. Amen. But I can remember praying just for three hours, and I remember it so clearly. I never stopped praying in that time. Oh, I was I had an intercessory ministry. Uh, I think every minister should have at some period. God calls them just a prayer. And that is the deepest. And I'll tell you your reverence for God. And. Oh, I knew who'd come to the door. I did, I knew what they were coming for. I prophesied in that period of time. And things happen as thus saith the Lord, in a tremendous way. Oh, it was just fantastic. And I know that this ministry is available to all of us in in our in this time of interceding, God will give us give you a tremendous time anyway. I was praying for these three hours, and I can remember really reaching out as God gave me the prayer and receiving from God as the Holy Spirit took me over different people and to different places and situations, and I prayed and received what God wanted me to receive. And I came out of that place. I remember it was a closet. It was a small room. And I came into the main sitting room and there were friends there and my wife was there. I came in the door and she had one look at me, and she just went up and put her arms around me and she said, I love you. I. She just couldn't help it. She just I don't know what happened to me, you know, I wanted to go in for another three hours, but everybody in the whole room stopped. They didn't say a word, you know. Nobody. They were frightened to speak. Folks, I looked at them the way I'd been looking at the Lord and the love and the respect I had for the Lord in that, in that on my knees. And it was just fantastic what had happened. God changed me while I was praying. He changed me so completely. My own wife didn't really know me. Hallelujah. So there's hope for everybody. And this is just it. God showed me my love for people. I'll tell you. He showed me more in my prayer time than any other place. I've heard tapes. I've read books. I've seen ministry. I've seen some of the greatest ministers. I've ministered with them. I've seen some wonderful miracles. And I really mean. I really mean miracles. I saw God fill a child's tooth. I saw the empty tooth. I saw the filled tooth. After praying, he filled it and he beautifully finished it off. A little kid in Des Moines, in Iowa, I saw God do it with my own eyes and I praise the Lord. I've seen some wonderful miracles and parts of the body being restored. One girl with polio in the arm and a withered arm, and it grew the same size and grew out the same length. Just sitting in the meeting, nobody said a word. And the children that have been healed while they're asleep in the meeting, it's fantastic. It's a wonderful place. You know, when the Spirit of God is present in a meeting, what God begins to do now, I believe that God answers prayer very simply. But I've learned how to pray. People call me from all over the world and they ask me to pray and God shows me what to pray. Folks, if you all call me, I'm going to be stuck. So don't. Don't call me tomorrow. Um. You know, please, but I want. I reached out for these meetings, believing now that God will do some wonderful miracles not to prove anything. He doesn't have to. But because of his lovely, wonderful love and mercy, that people will come to understand and know the Lord in a very real way. And this passage of Scripture that I've just read, I've read out one and about the will of God in one John chapter five. I've read out also about the Holy Spirit helping our infirmities in Romans eight um twenty six. There's also another passage of Scripture that I would like you to consider. Oh, there's so many. Would you look with me? Uh, Philip? Uh, verse chapter six. Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance. Supplication for all saints. Um, there's something here praying always with all prayer and supplication in the spirit. You notice, uh, this is in. Sorry, sorry. You're looking for it. It's. They've moved it again. I'm sorry. This is in Ephesians. Ephesians chapter six, verse eighteen. I'm sorry. We we'll move over to Philippians four, verse six in a minute. I must be more careful next time. But it says, be careful for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God. You'll notice that in verse six, be careful for nothing but in everything. And what I said, I remember saying the last time I was here, what I'd love to preach on one one day and I'm going to do it. Why pray when you can worry? Now you'll notice that most Christians, they all of us are are guilty of this. We've worried ourselves sick about our children, and then all of a sudden we begin to pray. A week later, we begin to pray. Well, we have to get so desperate. We won't pray until then. But there's some people that pray at the drop of a hat. They just say they think, and they think. Pray at the drop of a hat. They just say they think and they think it's just like that. Up goes the prayer and immediately comes back. They've got such a prayer life that they just think what the need is. And they thank him that it's met. Now, I don't pray for my needs to be met in the sense I don't pray for my general needs to be met. And the reason for it is very simple, because I believe that they're met in the will of God. But I have been through the school of laying the table with no food on it, no food in a cupboard, no money whatsoever, and my wife and I sitting down and thanking God for the food that we didn't have, the food that we did have by faith, but we didn't have. And a knock at the door at the at at the very, you know, lunchtime the knock on the door came when we just thank the Lord. And there was the lady with two plates full of food. Now, that's not happened before. It's not happened since. But we just believe that God is taking care of my need, our needs. So we just trust the Lord for that. Even though I'm away from home many times, some places I cannot send anything home. I trust God and my wife has never been in need. God has always met her need. So she just goes upstairs, as she calls it. We always say, kid, my wife, she just goes upstairs and comes down and tells us what she's received. Now our children are the same. They pray for things because they see God meeting our needs, and they see, and we bring things to them as we reach out in the Lord. And they're encouraged and it's wonderful. It's the best way to teach your children. I do thank God that that God has given us, you know, children and also that he's given us, you know, an opportunity to teach our children to pray. I bless the Lord for that. And it's just wonderful. I remember when they were little, we couldn't afford toys and things for Christmas when we were in the ministry. First of all, we couldn't afford things. And we say to Jill, what would you like for Christmas? And she said, oh, I'd like a pram. No. I said, what have you asked Jesus for? She said, I've asked him for a pram. Oh, that was it. Now she'd already. I didn't tell her to ask Jesus. I didn't tell her to do that. She'd already asked the Lord for what she wanted. We don't teach him to ask Father Christmas. We teach him to ask Jesus on his birthday. You know, you tell your kids what you want, but we tell them the truth. Beg your pardon? Now, we were worried about this pram, and it was Christmas Eve. And whether we should buy it or we shouldn't buy it. What we should do about it. And I can remember saying to Pam, well, you know, it might hurt her faith if we don't buy it. We wanted to encourage her. And so we went into the shop and we went out again and said, no, there's a check. We shouldn't buy it. So we couldn't really afford to, but we couldn't afford to to ruin our little girl's faith. And she's only five. She was five then, I think. And it's really incredible because when we got home, there was a big box outside the door marked pram on it, and so somebody had gone and got a pram. I don't know how it happened. It was just just wonderful. It's just the Lord's doing. But this was the point. I asked her then because I saw the colour written on the box, what colour did you ask for? And she said, oh, I asked for a blue and daddy and a green one written on across the box, you see. So we opened the box next day and it was a blue pram. That's the truth. That's the truth. We open it and I don't ask me how it happened. It just happened. And my, my wife once was doubled up with cramp and she couldn't move. And we couldn't do anything about it. I wasn't there, and Jill came up and saw and immediately she was only four. Then she put her hand on me. Jesus, make it all better. And I'll tell you, boy, there was a real Jesus. Make it all better business. She meant business about it, you know. And it's. She's heard me pray like that, you know, with authority. And I believe that there are some types of prayer where we command the sickness to leave in the name of Jesus. We take no nonsense from devil. I'll take anything from God, but I'll take nothing from the devil. I've had enough of him. You know, in my lifetime I've had enough of him, and I'm not going to take things from him. But there's a place in prayer where you put him in his place, underneath your feet. Hallelujah. And that's where he should be. He is defeated, prayed always with all prayer and supplication in the spirit. And I think I don't want to spend too much time on the first night, but I wanted to give many of you some sort of encouragement how to pray in the spirit. I'll ask you, first of all, hands up those who don't know how to how to pray in the spirit. That's a tremendous amount of people. Would you please put your hands down? Now you'll see. You'll see the necessity for this. There are a lot of things in your family, and there may be many prayer requests that you've already prayed about and you haven't got the answer to. Now, if you're prepared to seek the Lord for himself first of all, and as you draw close to the Lord by just waiting in his presence, you don't pray. Just wait there and begin to praise. Now praise. Don't forget prayer with thanksgiving. Begin to thank the Lord for the things that you've got and praise him for them. Begin to thank the Lord for the things that he's done for you. And as you begin to thank and praise the Lord, you'll open yourself up to receive from the Lord. I'll tell you, there's one thing that'll really put some faith into you. When you start thanking the Lord for all the blessings that you have received. You think, boy, they're piling up and you're thanking him for. Thank you Lord. And they're piling up and piling up. And then you're ready to ask God for anything when you see what he's already given you. Hallelujah. Thanksgiving is the doorway in and praise. And also, if there's any heavy spirit over your or any evil spirit. And this is where the devil will really attack you. If he can distract you, you can get down on your knees and have the filthiest thoughts. You can be attacked on the most foulest way you would ever believe. Boy, when the saint is down in his knees, Satan is really shaking and quivering because now God is going to really move. He doesn't want the saint to find out that God is going to move in his behalf. He doesn't want you and me to find out that God is available to us in prayer. Ask anything in my name. Jesus said in John fourteen fourteen, and I will do it. Ask. Ask. Read in Matthew seven seven and eight. Ask that you might receive. Now who's big enough? Who is big enough today to say, ask and you shall receive. Who is who can supply everything you think of somebody on this earth. If they had everything available, they couldn't do it. They couldn't supply everything. But my God can do it. And he's told us to ask, and he'll give us abundantly more than we can ask or think. What a god. You can't think bigger than my God. Hallelujah. And I can think pretty big. You love yourself, do you? Well, you don't love yourself more than God loves you. And he thinks for you. And if he could demonstrate his love for you, it would so humble you. You think, oh, Lord, how could you love me to that extent? It would so humble you. It's just fantastic. Now, when you begin to praise and the Lord and just begin to worship him, then God brings you to a place like he does the meeting of prayer. Now you're in the place of prayer and you know it. Now you mean business with God. Now you're coming against wicked spirits in high places. First of all, you must be free in your own spirit. Now a lot of people are bound up. They've got things, their affects, their hurts. They're a whole lot of things that need to be dealt with and to be healed. Now you begin to pray in the spirit. You begin to pray in other tongues. There's a praying with the understanding, and there's a praying in other tongues. If you're filled with the Holy Spirit, you can pray in other tongues. And now you begin to pray. And Paul said, I speak in tongues more than you all. I wonder why he learned the secret of praying in the spirit. And then you begin to groan over fellowships I have wept. And God begins to move through you then, and you know that you're breaking through the powers of Satan. Also, there are places there are people that you can pray for that you don't know what to pray for, and the Holy Spirit will not reveal it to you, will pray through you as you begin to pray in the spirit. Now please remember just speaking in tongues is not praying in the spirit. You pray in your spirit. Speaking in tongues is the vehicle to carry what you say in your spirit. Past your mind to God. You're not praying in the spirit. You're just doing vocal exercise which may benefit you physically, but it won't benefit you any other way. That's the truth. You must be in faith and you must be praying in the spirit. You must be really praying because if you're not really praying, nothing's happening to you. Oh, it's just fantastic. You know, you've come against the situation and you know you've got the victory. You just get off your off your knees and you just begin to shout. And you can't help it. You nearly do a war dance. Some of us have been praying, and all of a sudden we all received in the name of Jesus for this situation and we begin to praise God. We got the victory. And I tell you something, we looked like we got the victory. Amen. We begin to act like it and we praise the Lord. And we had we had won a victory in that situation. I can think of the many places I've prayed. Uh, people that are demon possessed. I've prayed in the spirit on the way there, and the person has been delivered when I got there completely free. Hallelujah. The selfsame hour. But. Oh, did you feel the power of God cruising through you as you came against Satan directly? And there's a direct coming against Satan, against wicked spirits in high places over your church, over your fellowship, over people's homes. Just begin to reach out in the spirit, and all of a sudden you begin to pray. Now you'll notice you're speaking in tongues, and the next thing you're in the anointing of God. And the anointing is not just in you now. It's on you. It's on you. And you begin to pray. That's praying in the Holy Ghost. It's just fantastic. Can you imagine what would happen to the church if we all just got down just once a day and prayed for an hour in praying in the Holy Ghost? We wouldn't know ourselves and we wouldn't know our problems. We wouldn't find them. Well, I believe that if you're interested in praying and receiving from God, then my God is interested in teaching you how to pray. You can begin to pray now as you reach out in your faith, coming to the place where you believe the Holy Spirit will release you in prayer. And that goes for any situation. Now, I could go on for days on this very subject. Praying for the sick. We come back to that now and receiving and I'm going to finish off on that, though I have said this just to one or two saints and you can some of you know already you've broken through in prayer and you know what it's like that that beautiful family, a Baptist lay preacher and his wife, they had this young boy staying in their home. And all of a sudden that boy got really mad with them all and had a real row. And he just walked out and he wasn't going to come back. So the all three of them, that's the son. And the parents got down on their knees and said, right, Lord, we're going to stay here till you bring him back. Hallelujah. And boy, did they stay there. Not for very long. He got down to the end of the road. He couldn't go any further. Broke down, turned around, came back and said, I knew you'd find you on your knees. And I'll tell you something. That's how my wife beat me when we were first married. We had differences of opinion. I couldn't understand why she couldn't see. I was always right. But anyway. And I used to say. Oh. And I'd get so mad and I'd just leave her, you know, I said, oh, that. And I'd walk outside and I'd get just down the road a little bit. I was going to be talking to the father. He would say, what have you left behind? You see, he seems to know everything about me. And sure enough, I'd begin to feel bad. And oh, I got to go back and you can put this right. And I go back and I look at her and she's waiting on her knees, telling father all about it, and I just couldn't win. I just couldn't win. Every time she wouldn't argue. She'd just get down on her knees, talk to the Lord about it. And the next thing you know, I was down there too. And that's how she won. That's how she beat me. She knew there was one person that I wouldn't argue with. Mm. And that's the Lord. Hallelujah. I've never won an argument against him yet. Praise God, he knows my motives. Aha! Hey, I do thank the Lord for this very simple faith that God has given me to receive. There are certain things I can receive. And while I was in some of these meetings, I reached out to receive people healed. Uh, eight. In one meeting, I think I got sixteen people, sixteen people healed just in the meeting. Isn't that wonderful? And in other places, I reached out for people that were in pain and things that were wrong with them, lumps in their body and all sorts of things. And God wonderfully healed them. And I think it's just terrific just receiving by faith. Now I'm going to just speak for a moment on just receiving. So you're all ready to receive. Now, if you get healed in your seat, don't worry about it. Praise the Lord. Just begin to wave your hand and shout. We don't really mind in these meetings. We just want you to receive. Now do you know how to receive healing? How do you receive healing? Now, first of all, you don't receive it with your body. You receive it with your faith. You got it. You receive it. Then by the Word of God, by the Word of God, you just reach out as I pray and thank the Lord for healing you. Now isn't that easy? The expression you've got on your face says it's not that easy. It's simpler than that, actually. Now, first of all, you believe you've got faith. Don't look at it. Just believe you've got it and you reach out with it. Like the centurion said. Speak the word only, Lord, just one of the word. And he just reached out for that word and received it. Right. Now what did he go home with, the healing or the word? He went home with the word and the healing in the word. The word is health to all your flesh. Proverbs four twenty two. It's health. The word itself is health. He sent his word and healed the sick. Remember, he sent his word and healed them. Praise the Lord! Now his word is health. You got that? So your faith reaches out. Speak the word. Only your faith reaches out as I pray for you, for the word, and you thank the Lord for healing you. That's your job finished and you begin to praise. Don't worry about the sickness. That's his job. The word is your job. The sickness is his job, so that every person is healed instantaneously by the Word of God in their faith. What you get in your body and how you get it. Then it may be different, but you've got the complete result with the word, so the word is the result to faith. Is it coming through? Please look as if it is the word. The word is the result to faith. So you don't get healed with your body because you are not your body. You live in it. You got it. Yes, you live in your body. Therefore you receive everything. Then from God by faith you reach out and receive it and thank him for it. So when I pray you're reaching out. If you're praying to two of us, praying, nobody receiving, you're receiving. And I'm praying I know what I've got before I pray I've got the result. Because you see, every person that I pray for, I discovered a secret about them. They've all been healed for the last nineteen hundred years. Now, you may not believe that, but it's true. And so I go then, from the finished work of Calvary, I see you as God sees you too, completely whole. There's nothing more to give you than he, than he's already given you by his word. So you're reaching out. And the moment I pray for you, you say, thank you, Jesus, for healing me. And you thank him in your faith. That's all you've got to do. And now, from that moment, you tell your body what you've got doesn't tell you. You tell your body you got it. You tell your body what you've got. And as you rejoice in the results in your faith and thank God for it, it comes into your body. Your ears pop open. If they're if they're deaf and whatever, and your eyes if you're blind or anything else, and immediately you're healed. Now, isn't that simple? We should have no problems tonight, right? Amen. Amen. Oh, I'm so glad that God has made it so simple. So I pray now a simple prayer in a couple of moments, and you receive a wonderful blessing from God for your body, soul and spirit. Okay, we're just going to pray right now, just first for those people tonight who feel that they want to get right with God. And there are some people in the meeting who I know should get right with God. Shall we just pray together, please?
