We cover the sport of CrossFit from all angles. We talk with athletes, coaches and celebrities that compete and surround in the sport of CrossFit at all levels. We also bring you Breaking News, Human Interest Stories and report on the Methodology of CrossFit. We also use the methodology to make ourselves the fittest we can be.
Well,
we are announcing next week this show will
now appear on Flow Elite for as low
as twenty nine ninety five a month.
From the gym to the screen, yeah,
we cover it all.
Midday motivation every time you press
call.
Lunch with the Clydesdales.
Cowboy, bring the heat.
Crossfit, boobies, music on repeat.
High power hustle, yeah,
we building that brand.
Grab a plate, tune in now,
you part of the fam.
What is going on, everybody?
Welcome to Lunch with the Clydesdales.
We are live.
And we're streaming.
That's a good thing these days because who
knows what else is going to happen,
where it's going to happen, whatever.
If you did not purchase Flow Elite to
watch today's action in Del Mar,
this is what you would see if you
paid twenty nine ninety five a month to
subscribe to the service.
So you guys aren't missing out.
I'm showing you the live stream right now.
This is where we're at.
It's crazy.
It's crazy.
So what's going on, man?
We've got Winter in the chat.
We've got Meredith, Ken Walters.
What's going on?
Jody, Lito.
mark phillips grant hexi lover i need your
yabba dabba doo please so here's the issue
i'm hoping to have it there by monday
but we're experiencing technical issues
with the stream no i'm just kidding um
I got this new mixer.
It's a different way to load the sounds
into the soundboard so that I am trying
to figure that out.
Hopefully this weekend when I have a
little more time and I'm not working,
I can actually load those sounds back into
the soundboard.
Omar says, is this true?
Yes, it is true.
It is true.
Technically,
there not being a camera shooting the
action is a technical problem.
So it was live for a minute.
You could see the men's floor.
They were announcing the women while the
men's floor was being shown.
Then they went to the women's floor and
then it all just kind of went after
that.
We got Ortega in the house.
Ann Barone says she's just going to watch
Crash this weekend.
Jody says, come on, man.
Did you really think that would work?
So...
i bought flow elite back when they did
wadapalooza back in the day and it worked
it wasn't awesome it was less than awesome
but it worked and they had multiple floors
you could watch you could watch whatever
floor you wanted at the time some of
them had an only one had announcers the
other floors did not
I'm stunned that they can't,
with a company as big as Flow Elite
is,
that they can't get this up and running.
Thank you, Hexy Lover.
I'll get that yabba-dabba-doo back for
you.
I'm guessing Sivan and the boys are having
internet issues.
They didn't have any streams yesterday
other than with the peplink.
Yeah, I don't know.
I don't know.
You would think that if Flow Elite is
there and they're putting their name on
it,
they would have given them some kind of
technical assistance to help boost
everything there.
I watched their test runs.
They seem to be working fine.
I don't know.
Let's hope Syndicate is free and better.
I think Spin is doing that,
and I don't think they're doing it through
Flow Elite.
So I do think it is free.
But that's the one I'm trying to get
to.
So I'm hoping to go to that one
live.
Daniel says,
could be something more to why Sivan isn't
covering Crash.
I'm a pot stirrer.
I don't think it has anything to do
with that.
I think it has to do with Siobhan
likes to stay in California.
It's twenty twenty six.
There has to be fiber running to the
Del Mar Fairgrounds.
Yeah, I don't know.
I don't know what they're up against.
I don't know.
I'm just hoping I'm giving them the
benefit of the doubt.
It's an outdoor location with a roof and
maybe they're having some issues.
Hopefully they get it up and running in
the next few hours or so.
Also promoting peptides in the live stream
of a CrossFit sanctioned event, wild.
I don't find it that wild.
Now, you're in Europe, Lito,
but here in America,
the stuff that gets advertised on
television every day makes no sense and it
has no correlation to what is on the
TV.
I mean,
pharmaceutical companies run half of the
ads that are on TV, period.
And I know that that is unique to
the U S and maybe one other country.
And so for me, like,
I don't even really notice it.
I heard them say it.
I heard there's a discount, but it,
it's just,
it's what happens in American television.
Um,
Test runs were okay maybe because they
were the only Wi-Fi users.
Now it's got ten people videoing.
I don't think they're allowing other
people to video.
Late, is legend stream not working?
It is not working.
We can check back in so you can
see.
Let's see what we have now.
Same thing.
We can check in periodically,
see what's going on with the stream.
So that's where we're at.
uh train olive i'm surprised they aren't
also advertising viagra i know that was
the only part of the stream that worked
the peptide advertisement um ten people
videoing i think he means there's ten
people trying to stream the event on
evan's team
I don't know who Evan is.
So there it is.
So, yeah.
So that's where we sit.
Last night was crazy because Jamie and
Carolyn landed in California.
They got to the event.
And the reports I was getting are the
heats are sorted by last name.
So no matter where you finished in
quarterfinals,
you could be in the last heat and
be three hundred and eightieth in the
world.
But because your name starts with
whatever,
whichever way out alphabetically they're
going.
You could be anywhere.
which is ridiculous.
I use Excel every day to sort on
a different column like quarterfinal
finish is one click of a button.
One click of a button.
So someone like Jamie who is competing to
get a ticket to the games doesn't even
have the competition around her because of
where her last name finishes.
Now they did not do that for the
elites and they did not do that for
thirty five to thirty nine.
But that is how they sorted forty and
up.
That is crazy town banana pants.
They also did machine demos.
I don't know if you saw what that
machine looked like on ten,
but all of the workouts on the machines,
the damper will be set at ten.
So an event that is already power output,
you're now making everybody do it at the
highest damper level.
If that doesn't speak to what they're
trying to do,
I don't know what else could.
Plus the machines were breaking down.
There is concern that the machines will
make it through event one.
I liked how Torian re-ranked on their own
leaderboard with the same quarterfinal
scores.
Pits people against each other with no
middlers.
Right.
I wonder how they'll seed for the first
event of the games with people qualifying
from all over the place and online.
I don't know.
So I shouldn't pay for the live stream.
Greetings from Finland.
Uh, Shelby, Shelby, Shelby, uh,
you could pay for it.
And this is what you would get.
This is the live.
Oh, oh, oh, oh, no.
We almost had, we almost had a picture.
We almost had a picture.
So
So there's that.
What else do we have from there?
They are water falling event one.
So heat one will go.
And then I think it's fourteen minutes in.
Heat two will go while heat one is
finishing.
The machine workout.
And there are caps on each apparatus.
So if you cap out on the SkiErg,
you have to move forward,
and then they take whatever your distance
is,
and they'll add it to your time at
the end.
Not making this up.
That's very local comp-ish shit.
I don't know where they came up with
that.
I don't know.
Daniel says,
I feel terrible for the athletes,
but I love a good circus.
If we could see the circus,
if we could see the circus,
I'd be cool with it.
Not cool with it.
I wouldn't be cool with it.
They're making you use that damper because
they don't trust the screens.
Same damper equals they can pretend to
count revolution strokes and come up with
reasonable Cal estimates.
Probably right.
Makes me think of all the times Carolyn
Post picks of people leaving road dampers
on ten and saying there's no need for
that.
Tristan asks,
could they not have gotten Rogue as a
sponsor?
I don't know the details on this, Tristan,
but there is definitely an issue with the
relationship between Legends and Rogue.
If you remember to the games last year,
they used axle bars and Rogue didn't even
supply the right collar for the axle bar.
Ken Walter says,
I hate Excel pivot tables.
I'm not even asking you to pivot the
table.
Sorting on a column in a two-dimensional
spreadsheet is so, so easy.
Why they're doing last name is, again,
bananas.
um how he wants to talk nfl i
do too uh lana paid forty dollars canadian
for no coverage it just gets better and
better is this where i watch legends well
i do have some good news we have
a picture we have a picture
I don't know if we have sound.
I don't think we have sound,
but we have a picture.
So that's good news.
Maybe we're going to be back up and
running.
I don't want to get dinged for showing
too much.
Alito says,
makes me rethink wanting to qualify for
the Bob and Joe games.
Not going to lie.
I would hope,
I would hope that the games takes a
more active approach because it's all
happening in the same location,
but that's not a guarantee.
Jeremy says,
when does Ashton Kutcher pop out and tell
us we've all been punked?
I'm waiting.
I'm waiting.
It would have been better just to
broadcast on YouTube post production.
At this point, sure.
At least you get to see something.
Those stepper skis and bikes are two K
each.
Well,
you got to pay to be able to
rotate the fan blades.
Trish has it.
Data sort.
There you go.
Select the column you want to sort on.
There it is.
Grace's went to the draft last night.
It was pretty fun.
I saw those three hundred thousand people
out there.
I am not I am not into squeezing
into that large of a crowd.
But it looked awesome.
And I'm from the area and I'm not
a Steeler fan, but my wife is.
And when they played Renegade before their
pick, that place was electric.
Electric.
Ken was spoiled.
He had administrative assistance for that.
Come on, dude.
Got to be self-sufficient these days.
Master Semi-Final sponsored by Ring
Doorbell.
Well, the picture is better than that.
It actually is a really high-quality
picture.
And we are running.
We've been running for about two minutes.
So there it is.
You can see the guys up.
Now it's a little bit of buffer.
But we can see some ski rig action.
So it's up and running.
Trish says,
tell me you're broke without telling me
you're broke.
It's only thirty dollars.
I listen.
I am.
I can afford the thirty dollars.
But if I pay my thirty dollars for
my steak dinner and the steak dinner and
the plate comes out empty,
I'm still pissed.
If I pay him a thirty dollars I
want to have the steak on the plate.
So right now we have some we have
like a New York strip.
I'm waiting for the ribeye.
Hopefully this goes buffering.
But we got a little peek in on
the women's floor.
See some women already on the double
unders.
I don't know what age group we're in.
But
You know,
if I pay my thirty bucks though, Trish,
I do not want to do that.
If I pay me thirty dollars for my
steak, I want steak on the plate.
I don't want an empty plate with a
piece of broccoli.
Do we think these videos will show up
for free to view after the fact or
not?
I say nah.
That never happened with Waterpalooza back
in the day.
Oh, I have...
so i just had it on mute so
it didn't play over the over top you
all wanted back here it is marco says
is this the live stream you get for
thirty bucks i was planning on buying but
that but that not that coverage i was
expecting for thirty bucks
My guess is as they get younger,
because they started with the older heats,
as they get younger,
the coverage will become more fluid and
they'll probably have some people walking
around with cameras so you can get some
more close-up shots.
So yeah,
I think this is just what we're getting
for the older heats.
uh uh trained olive says that uh hers
is frozen with no volume i think you
just need to refresh mine's just buffering
a little bit but it is up and
it is running and the volume works
Daniel said this is getting a turkey
burger when you ordered a beef burger.
So, all right.
Now I'm going to defend them just a
little bit.
As long as it's up and running and
I can see who the people are,
I don't want to go back to the
games when they had an iPhone five hanging
from the roof.
And that was the coverage we got.
This, at least I can see,
I can see the people,
I can see them doing the workout and,
And as we get younger,
it gets to be a little more fluid
of a broadcast with some walk-around
cameras.
I'm cool with it.
It just has to stay up and running
and give me the ability to see these
people.
Vicky,
I sent you a screenshot of the Posted
Ages schedule from IG.
Yeah, I have all that from Holly.
I just don't have it open now to
look at and see.
So there it is.
Grace says, Vicky,
where's the schedule posted?
So both,
so Holly posted on her DataWad IG as
well as Clydesdale Media.
You can see the full schedule for the
day.
In addition,
Legends put out a schedule as well.
What do you mean when we get younger?
I mean,
as the competition goes on through the
day,
the younger athletes are going to take the
floor.
They started seventy plus.
Went sixty five to sixty nine.
Then went sixty to sixty four.
I am not Benjamin Button, Jody.
So me, myself, I am not getting younger.
so there it is um what i wanted
i there's a couple things i wanted to
talk about other than legends and that is
i got i got some comments yesterday about
my trt talk with the masters divisions and
the rampant use of it in no way
am i saying that trt is a bad
thing
If you medically need TRT or you want
to live a better life and you use
TRT, I'm cool with that.
I think that's awesome.
If it helps you get through life in
a more meaningful way, use TRT.
But the minute you step on a competition
floor is where I have a problem.
That's the piece I'm talking about.
And the people that have popped in the
master's age groups have not popped for
TRT.
They have popped for the entire medicine
cabinet of PEDs.
So there we go.
Howie said the stream is fine.
Yeah, it's now running pretty fluid.
So we have a pretty good stream right
now.
If we get this for a while,
I'm cool.
Claire says,
CrossFit has the Benjamin Button effect.
It does.
It does.
Seema says, I'm ready for TRT.
Premenopause is kicking my ass.
And if it helps you with that,
go for it.
It is awesome.
But that also means you can't take the
floor in a competition.
It's just the way it is.
Can we chat about Crash for a second?
I can't because I don't know about it.
Jonathan,
I am so focused on the game season,
and right now Crash is kind of like
a side event.
I'll probably tune into it a little bit
this weekend,
but I just can't focus on that right
now.
And Vicky says she feels SEMA.
Thanks for CrossFit.
I plan to be fitter in a decade
than I am now.
That's pretty neat.
That's really neat.
I was fitter in my forties and now
fifties than I was in my thirties.
And that's pretty awesome.
Seema says I'm not good enough to compete
unless it's that damper ten.
Mason makes me do that all the time.
Yeah, but.
Ninety nine percent of us are never going
to compete.
And if.
TRT helps you get through life,
then it is there is a tool to
use.
These are the one percenters that take the
floor.
You can't use it.
It's just part of the rules.
So that's it.
Ortega says,
I would whoop my twenty-year-old self up
right now.
My twenty-year-old self couldn't keep up
with me today.
Finding a good hormone replacement therapy
doctor as a woman is really rough.
We are going through that now with my
wife.
Yeah,
my wife is on the other side of
that, but that was...
That was rough.
I agree.
Mark getting through that was really hard.
What I love is Bruce always comes in
like late in the show and says,
did I miss anything?
What do you think?
We just sit here and talk about nothing.
Of course you miss stuff.
Go back and watch.
That's your penalty.
The last thing I wanted to bring up
is I was watching Claire and CJ this
morning,
and they brought up Coach L and his
reaction to Gwen hating it because
athletes today don't train touch and go.
They train to be the most efficient.
They can be through a workout,
and many times that means singles.
And I'm paraphrasing at this right now.
But what blew me away in his reaction
to that, and I really like Coach L,
is that
We used to, or Dave used to,
find ways not to be predictable,
to tweak workouts, to adjust workouts,
so that you could not prepare for exactly
what you would see on the floor.
Why are we looking at this?
The first thing that popped into my head
when Coach Al said that was,
You have taken unknown and unknowable out
of the equation.
And if you didn't train touch and go,
that's on you.
That's on you and your athletes.
To complain that you hate a workout
because you didn't prepare correctly is
totally against what CrossFit was meant to
be.
That got me so fired up this morning.
And I'm glad Claire brought it up.
CJ kind of like glanced over it,
but like I was so,
so upset about that because it used to
be, I remember Ben Bergeron saying,
we're trying to figure out what to train
for.
And it was like CrossFit tried to take
the anti-approach to make it so you could
not prepare for it.
If you don't remember,
I think it was two thousand sixteen or
seventeen, seventeen,
I think there wasn't a barbell at
regionals.
Everything was dumbbell.
Everything.
Because people had been preparing for one
thing.
And I really think the programming has
gotten into a rut.
where people are preparing for the events
because they think they know what it is.
But you know what else helps you prepare?
It's Thirdsy.
Thirdsy helps you prepare by getting you
the best sleep and the best recovery you
can.
And you can get it for fifteen percent
off by using Jazzy.
at checkout or go to thirdsy.com backslash
jazzy to get yours today for fifteen
percent off so back to it um just
the idea of training more touch and go
makes me sweat
But shouldn't we be mixing that into our
training?
A little bit of this,
a little bit of that.
Isn't that what CrossFit is?
It's kind of like that pot of stew
that you're throwing this ingredient in
and that ingredient in and that ingredient
in.
And that mix of everything creates this
awesome stew called CrossFit.
And if you're taking things out because
you don't think you're going to see them
down the road in a competition,
you're missing the mark.
They're called benchmarks for a reason.
And old Dick's in the chat saying,
Rich has never done touch and go in
his entire life.
That is a lie, my friend.
I've seen Rich go touch and go at
events.
Back in the early days,
he went touch and go a lot.
Ken Walters,
I just got two guys at my box
to order thirdsy last night after they
were complaining about they can't sleep.
Thank you so much.
Hopefully they use the code.
Got that fifteen percent off.
Jay Birch, the hopper.
Yes.
Go to your level one.
Learn about the hopper.
You just pull movements out.
That's your workout.
Go for it.
One of the first workouts at the CrossFit
Games was a hopper workout where they drew
movements out of this big barrel,
and that became the workout.
Where has that gone?
Training for the unknown is the U.S.
Navy SEAL training because if you have to
train for everything or you could fail the
mission.
I think that's why the military backed
CrossFit because of that.
Lito says,
I bet you there are so many people
at the moment trying Gwen,
which cannot be said for any other event
that has recently been programmed.
I agree with you.
I think that's going to be different for
the Magic City workouts because so many of
them are classic regional and named
workouts that people are going to try
those as well.
Jeremy,
I got hella athletes that like to game
their deadlifts and go singles for every
workout.
I challenge them often to think more touch
and go.
Me personally,
my first rep of deadlift sucks.
I finally find the groove on rep two.
So to do singles of deadlift for me
is just not smart.
And why would you want to go from
a dead stop every rep?
When you can tap and go,
maybe get a little bounce?
I don't know.
Especially to get the eccentric benefits,
but also to challenge themselves and mix
things up.
Eccentric benefits are so important and
people don't understand them.
Eccentric movements make you stronger in
that movement pattern.
It builds strength in that movement
pattern.
Taking all of them out, you lose that.
Dex says singles and deadlift is dumb.
I agree.
I agree completely.
Like I said,
my first rep at deadlift is my worst
one.
TFX in two thousand thirteen at a finale
where they do three out of a legit
hopper and you did all three with a
hundred meter run in between.
It was electric.
That is exactly what I'm talking about.
That is what CrossFit was based on.
For Coach L to come out and say
we weren't prepared for it.
That's why I hate it.
So counterintuitive to what this was built
on.
Scott, will you be at Syndicate?
That is my plan.
As long as everything stays cool and my
recovery is done on Monday,
I can get back to lifting and working
out.
And if everything goes well in that
direction,
I'm hoping to come down to Syndicate.
jeremy says this is what professional
crossfit looks like coach l's mindset
coach l's a good dude man like i
really enjoy having conversations with him
but i that comment was awful and for
those of you curious the stream has been
up
since the last time i pulled it up
we are running pretty smooth picture's
pretty clear there's an occasional buffer
um it keeps switching back from the men
to the women as you can see here
there's a little bit of buffer but
picture's pretty clear
maybe L was joking.
He has a great deadpan.
He wasn't joking because he was,
he tried to explain his reasoning.
Dex says he ain't wrong.
The sport is not the affiliate
methodology.
Okay.
But Dex, you were competing in the teens.
They tried to bring out things throughout
the,
the teens that you could not plan for
at the regional level and the games level.
There were always twists and turns and
caveats to work out to make them
different.
And I feel like that has been lost
in the twenties and
Jody says, Scott,
you can work out with me at five
a.m.
Would love it.
That is so early for me, Jody.
But if once I get back to it,
I'll try to drop in for a workout
here and there.
But man, five a.m.
is not my circadian rhythm anymore.
Jeremy says it should be illegal to work
out at five a.m.
I don't, I don't disagree.
That is an insane time.
David Reed, one hundred percent, Jeremy.
At the games,
they get fancy implement-wise,
individuality.
Individually,
they do need some straightforward testing.
I think that's what shows like Xenon will
fare well.
I don't mind some straightforward
workouts,
but occasionally throw in a tweak and see
if people can adapt.
Adaptability in athleticism is important.
And I know John Wood took three hours
to explain that,
but those things do have some importance
to the overall test.
It doesn't need to be the whole test,
but should be an aspect of the test.
Jody said you can replay it.
No worries.
I was a passport delivery girl.
It's in my DNA.
Dex coming back.
I agree.
That's why I loved Gwen.
I just love debating with you, Dex.
Lito says, speaking of Xenom,
I got in free through the ballot.
Looking forward to it.
I saw that.
I am so excited for you, Lito,
and I can't wait to hear how it
goes.
John Wood sounds like listening to dial up
internet load up yeah especially for three
hours Tristan says people can always do
some touch and go in a workout if
they need to to get a W just
put the barbell at the end
But I bet you some athletes now start
doing some touch and go just to get
the feel for it.
Paige Rogers says she hasn't swam in a
couple of years.
A perfect example of a great workout that
has probably been abandoned by most
CrossFit athletes because it won't be
tested.
only thing that's banned wayne is open
water right now and who knows how long
that'll be and she said in that podcast
now that she's made the games she does
need to get back in the pool a
little bit so she knows she's she might
see some swimming in a pool at the
crossfit games
anyway Tristan said true I had Jacob and
Caitlin do it yeah gotta touch that touch
and go now so just to update you
all they are moving around we got split
screens now of course it froze as soon
as I shared it but they are walking
around with cameras now we got some split
screens
So getting a little better coverage as we
go throughout the day.
Kudos to everybody there trying to figure
it out.
But we do have some coverage now.
Hexy Lover, hey Scott,
did you hear about the Ironman swimmer
that passed away in Texas?
I did.
I did.
Regretfully,
that happens in Ironmans all the time.
Triathlons all the time.
So,
and they're not going to stop doing that.
Don't Ironmans average like two to three
deaths a pro event?
Regretfully, they do.
And people in their signups still go
through the roof.
It's just like a known risk.
but we don't need to get it all
that again today.
It's the weekend.
The coverage is up and running.
So I'm going to let you guys go.
I'm going to get back to work,
run some of this coverage at my desk.
And I don't know what I'm going to
do Sunday.
Carolyn and Jamie are going to be at
Del Mar.
I don't know.
They are not going to be able to
come on Sunday night.
So I need to find a replacement.
Maybe I'll go old school and see if
Dex wants to come on.
But with that,
hope you guys have a great rest of
your day.
Hope you have a fun time watching Crash
or Del Mar or whatever this weekend.
And I'll definitely be back Sunday night
with somebody.
We will see you then.
Have a great weekend.
Absolutely.
