Speaker 2:

1, 2, 377-3456. Y'all make sure y'all take down this number because y'all got to call us today.

Speaker 3:

people's walking around in traffic.

Speaker 2:

They still

Speaker 3:

And and they still ain't moved out the way of them vehicles coming at them.

Speaker 2:

I think you need a Hummer. Oh, me? No. That's not running them over. Boom.

Speaker 2:

Speaker 3:

Man. That that that will not happen.

Speaker 2:

Oh, shoot. Okay.

Speaker 4:

Yeah. The crack. Hey, y'all. Listen. My rant other day, I almost didn't have 1, but then I saw a post on Facebook talking about how, dudes won the 10 and they are 3.

Speaker 4:

Oh. I said, 000. Math ain't math, baby. The math ain't math. We we said

Speaker 2:

that Wait.

Speaker 3:

Wait. Wait. Wait. Stop. Stop.

Speaker 2:

Wait. What?

Speaker 3:

You said that they wanna 10.

Speaker 2:

But they are 10.

Speaker 3:

But they are 3.

Speaker 4:

The but they are 3. I said, baby, the math ain't mathing. Something wrong with the numbers, Kim. Something wrong with the

Speaker 2:

numbers out here. Y'all so wrong. But we also said that while Wait. Wait. That's dirty.

Speaker 2:

We said that people was acting like they were a 10, but they was actually a 4. So we've been saying that. So

Speaker 4:

No. But now that they okay. You know what? Not today.

Speaker 2:

Not today.

Speaker 5:

Alright. My

Speaker 4:

rant my rant for

Speaker 2:

the day is slow down. Oh. Slow down in everything. Like, I'm it's so many stories that we get all the time about people. Like, I just met this person.

Speaker 2:

And, like, the next week, they, like, moved in together. They don't met the kids, and then they don't, like and then they go then they gone. Like, they ghost they ghost them and don't even know. And it's like, how did you not know that was gonna happen? Like, take the time to get to know somebody.

Speaker 2:

I can understand. Yeah. You could say everything. Like, they said that it was this, but, like, let the action speak Right. Versus that.

Speaker 2:

You know? And I feel real bad because sometimes these people are really out here. Men and women are really telling people different things and, like Mhmm. Then all of a sudden, it's like

Speaker 4:

I mean, I don't be getting ghosted, but I do be getting, like they be like, oh, this too much.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 4:

Yeah. I'm baby, I'm big Leo Energy. Stop. Oh. What the heck?

Speaker 2:

Don't stop. Hey. Let's let's go back to that let's go back to

Speaker 3:

the 10 and the 3.

Speaker 6:

Oh, shit.

Speaker 2:

Oh, lord. The laugh wasn't laughing. I I did no. I just got a question. Yes.

Speaker 3:

Does it make you a player or not if you got 2 fives? Uh-huh.

Speaker 4:

I don't know nothing about that because I'm a 10. Oh.

Speaker 2:

Alright. Y'all y'all today, I'm I was just checking. We did talk about the other initials because we got a got a huge, show today. We got, mister Hit Me Up movie is coming out Tuesday, July 9th. Well, it's already been out, right, on the platforms.

Speaker 2:

But, Tubi and I'm in a movie. Let me just say that. Oh, my lord. Okay. It's a small part, but it's a big part.

Speaker 2:

I'm having

Speaker 4:

it's your part, boo. It's your part, boo.

Speaker 2:

And we got everybody in the building. I'm so happy. Trey, we were trying to get him to come outside. This man is always working. Hello, sir.

Speaker 2:

You never have time for a personal life, but I understand. And, so we got the the creator, the mastermind, mister Hit Me Up. That's coming out again Tuesday, July 9th. I had to get you in here because, you know, as a community based station, just to look at you, I wouldn't I I think you have put, like, an ad or something on Facebook, and I was like, I I want to try to do this. And then we got miss Amora in the building.

Speaker 2:

Vincent, we we introduced all y'all. And I just was like, man, some positive stuff. The stuff that we don't talk about that a black man is doing. And, then I seen that you was doing all these other things. You got, like, crooked lines, same girl.

Speaker 2:

Worked with Zandy Kaye. Everybody knows Zandy Kaye in Minneapolis. Got my girl DJ Diamond and miss Zamora. We got Malik. Hey, Malik.

Speaker 6:

What's good, family?

Speaker 2:

You early. You early, Malik. Good to

Speaker 7:

see you.

Speaker 2:

So, yeah, this Latoya. Latoya, this is Trey's brother. So the other right hand man, and then we got Rachel in the other, building, DJ Boom. Boom. B0M.

Speaker 2:

Boom. But yep. So y'all could all introduce yourself, and we'll start getting into the questions and stuff, and just let us know who you are.

Speaker 8:

Hey, everybody. It's your boy Trey Bell, half of VIP Bad Boys Productions.

Speaker 9:

What's going on?

Speaker 2:

Say your name again. Say it 1 more time.

Speaker 8:

Trey Bell.

Speaker 2:

Hi, Trey Bell. Oh, shoot. Now you don't brought all this chocolate over here. Oh, lord. Go ahead, miss Zamora.

Speaker 10:

Hey, it's your girl, Zamora Jackson. Okay.

Speaker 11:

What up? What up? This is, Vince Gorman.

Speaker 6:

Peace to the family. This is Malik.

Speaker 2:

Oh, DJ Dime.

Speaker 5:

What up? This is DJ Dime.

Speaker 2:

Alright. In the studio.

Speaker 9:

What up? What up? This is DJ Pop Boom in the room.

Speaker 2:

Oh. 0, yeah. There you go.

Speaker 6:

Hi. My name's Walter. Hi, Walter.

Speaker 2:

Hey, Walter. Alright. When was Rachel at?

Speaker 12:

Oh, I'm right here. I

Speaker 2:

Hey, miss Rachel. Alright. So let's get to it. We wanna know, like, the the movie mister hit me up. We could start let's just go back.

Speaker 2:

You said that, same girl was the first 1 right in quick lines.

Speaker 8:

Yeah. Same girl was the first movie, me and Malik, wrote. Actually, that movie is is what catapulted everything. So

Speaker 2:

Okay.

Speaker 8:

And then we have a second 1, and that's streaming as well called Crooked Lines.

Speaker 2:

Mhmm.

Speaker 8:

So Same Girl and Crooked Lines are both streaming on all major platforms from Prime, Peacock, Tubi, Vudu, and a lot of other streaming, platforms. We was also also blessed to have those movies premiere in movie theaters and actually, with showings in movie theaters across the country. So

Speaker 2:

Alright. So, Malik, you and your brother. Yes. Let's let's talk about how you guys I was so intrigued with your story or how you guys got started with this whole movie thing. You know?

Speaker 6:

Yeah. Well, it it started with him first and 1 of our best friends, mister Ron Johnson, belated Ron Johnson. Yeah. So, I always kinda wanted to, you know, adventure off into, just another level with entertainment. Love being in front of the camera on a stage just, you know, coming from the music background.

Speaker 6:

So it was just like, alright. Cool. You know what I mean? I'm excited about this. Let's get to the let's get to the next level, and and let's see what we can create.

Speaker 2:

And where you guys are from? The the your roots. Where y'all from?

Speaker 8:

Little Rock, Arkansas, baby.

Speaker 2:

I'm just sitting up there. Amor, am I tripping like they are more like it seems like we in the studio when when they it's like they different. Like, when they on stage and everything, they're like, hey. And now they're like, hey. I'm, yep.

Speaker 2:

I'm on, their personalities is just boom, boom, boom. And now they're like, hey. We from okay. From Arkansas. Alright.

Speaker 2:

22 men from Arkansas, and then you come to Minnesota by way.

Speaker 6:

Yeah. So we came by way of a Greyhound.

Speaker 7:

Oh. I did also.

Speaker 2:

Think a majority of all of them. Right? Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 6:

That's when they stopped everywhere. 1 the the driver stopped at his grandma house 1 time, and he came out with bacon and grilled cheese and bacon and

Speaker 11:

maybe get your sandwich. Salmon sandwich.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. Right. Yeah.

Speaker 4:

Oh, yeah. Y'all know. Y'all from the south for real.

Speaker 2:

Right. Alright. So for Arkansas, and then you guys just decided. So it's v VIP Bad Boys, right, production. Did I say that right?

Speaker 6:

Yeah. You got it.

Speaker 2:

Okay. So, yeah, I was doing the music thing and just came in.

Speaker 8:

Yeah. It originated VIP originated from the the music industry. We were VIP Bad Boys, of course. You know,

Speaker 7:

Of course. I know.

Speaker 8:

If if anybody q Q Bear q Q Bear knows and DJ DJ Dime knows, you know, I the we got that name from you know, we had we were like Jodeci. Oh. You know? So when we when we hit when we hit the stage when we hit the stage, it was a whole bunch of baby oil on the stage.

Speaker 2:

I told look. I already told us, like, wait. When Malik and Trey come here, we got to put some chains on the child. Okay? Alright.

Speaker 2:

So, miss Zamora, you are the star of the show. And my girl, Dime, she already know how much I love her. I was like, y'all cut up in this movie. We can't give away too much. Y'all gotta make sure I don't overtalk.

Speaker 2:

But, miss Amora is the star in the show. So, let us know about how you felt, like, coming into the mister hit me up and how did oh, how did you even get into this this role?

Speaker 10:

Oh, that's funny. I don't know. Should I share that or do 1 of you guys

Speaker 13:

It's it's your story.

Speaker 5:

Because I

Speaker 10:

don't know how it no.

Speaker 6:

It's your

Speaker 8:

story too right now.

Speaker 10:

Because, from my understanding, they they were already casted Mhmm. You know, for the movie, and I felt like I had missed my opportunity. So, I didn't I didn't know that a role was still available until later in the game. But, yeah, when I found out that I was with the 7th

Speaker 2:

or something

Speaker 10:

like that, I took that as, like, you know, this is meant for me.

Speaker 2:

Right.

Speaker 10:

And I did my thing and, you know, I gave it my best.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. You did. You did really good. And people don't know that about because like I said, when I went on, he made the he actually said there's another movie, coming up. We're gonna talk about that as well.

Speaker 2:

But I was like, let me just try something. I always wanna try something new, and I had no idea how hard it is for a movie. And I'm like, I'm watching Dime all the time. Like, she doing oh, I'm on the set. Like, nobody told you about, like, how much work.

Speaker 2:

I think I probably had, like, 8 lines, but it was like that to remember that and go through it, that was a process. So let's talk about how it is that, you know, when you get the acting, when you get the the script, that's what it's called. How does that feel like? How do you study for it and, you know, get to that part? Ma'am, you're good.

Speaker 5:

So the question is how did you how did I study for

Speaker 2:

it? Yeah.

Speaker 5:

Well, I feel like, first of all, I've been on Malik and Trey for since, what, I was a teenager. So I used to be a rapper. So and they were doing their thing. So, for me, I felt comfortable with them. Like, I was just being myself kinda pretty much, you know, besides a few lines.

Speaker 5:

But, when they, approached me about it, it was kinda I feel like it it was kinda me when I read it. It was already me. So I was like, oh, this is this is I can do this anyway. So for me, it was just like, just hanging around and, like, we was kicking it, but then I met Amore and We vibe. And, Immediately.

Speaker 5:

Yeah. It was just like a immediate thing. And I said, oh, this is gonna be cool. And we just played off each other from there, and I just felt comfortable with, already knowing Malik and, being that this is my first movie. So it was just real cool to work with someone I already knew.

Speaker 6:

Facts.

Speaker 2:

So go ahead.

Speaker 8:

I got something to say about that. Actually, we when we wrote that script and we started to create the characters, me and Malik already had her in mind.

Speaker 2:

Right. Yeah. So You can tell. Right. That was gonna be my next question.

Speaker 2:

Like, when you are writing the scripts, do you already, like, have an idea who you want to be in the that part or play that part

Speaker 9:

or whatever?

Speaker 8:

So when we wrote that, we knew how to write it because we knew her personality.

Speaker 2:

Oh, yeah. Mhmm. Yeah. So that's why I think

Speaker 5:

And when I read it, I was like,

Speaker 2:

hey, son just like me. Alright, mister Vincent. You didn't tell us about yourself. Let's talk about you, mister Vincent. You're the executive producer.

Speaker 2:

That's what we just your title.

Speaker 11:

Yeah. So, you know, I I met these brothers through another friend of mine that actually was a singer as well.

Speaker 13:

Mhmm.

Speaker 11:

And so, you know, it's so funny because I me and my brother, we open up for them back in the day. Okay. And so we never really crossed paths, but we kinda like I knew them. I don't know if they knew us. I don't know if we was that big yet.

Speaker 11:

But, so, you know, he was telling me that they were doing, you know, movies. And so since I'm a I'm a writer

Speaker 2:

Mhmm.

Speaker 8:

You

Speaker 11:

know, a script writer, I was like, man, this is a wonderful opportunity because in Minnesota, you know, it's the the it's really small community when it comes down to filming.

Speaker 2:

Right.

Speaker 11:

Especially for us, our people.

Speaker 9:

You know,

Speaker 11:

black people. Mhmm.

Speaker 2:

And

Speaker 11:

so when I looked linked up with these brothers, you know, they're really good down to earth. I'm from the South. They're from the South. And, I was like, well, anything that I could do to enhance whatever they had, I just rolled my sleeves up and and get in the mix, and that's what I've been doing.

Speaker 2:

Right. Yeah. And I was just thinking, like, when I came in, I'm like, this is, like, early morning to late nights. Like, this is you had to really be committed for this movie thing. Yeah.

Speaker 6:

And you wanna talk about, captivating the moment. Again, I just wanna kinda spin it back Mhmm. With Amora because, you know, you're correct. There are a lot of, lead, ladies that tried out that wanted to, roll, but it was just something just wasn't there. So some was telling us to trust the process, and she came in, you know what I mean, in in the Q4.

Speaker 6:

You know? We threw it out of here. She she windmill dunked that out of here because it was like a, a week before we was gonna start, shooting. So just to, the listeners out there, you you know, hey. When that moment comes, you know what I mean?

Speaker 6:

Don't pass the ball. Don't fumble it. You you gotta green it. So that's what she did. She pulled up last minute, and she and she did her thing.

Speaker 6:

So that's just, a direct, I can say, disclosure or exposure of what the moment can look like and when it can show up, and you gotta you gotta go for it.

Speaker 2:

Okay, guys. Give us a call. 612-377-3456. They are here to answer questions for you. So, Amora, you've been acting before this this show?

Speaker 10:

Okay. Yep. Nothing that actually, you know, came to streaming or in the theater. So that was my first time experiencing everything too with everyone else. So yeah.

Speaker 10:

But not not a newcomer to acting at all.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. Tuesday, July 9th, it will be on 2 I'm gonna keep on rewinding. I'm like, I'm a go I'm wait. I'm sorry. Y'all first couple of days, I'm a fast forward to my part, and I'm a just keep on so, Dime, this is your no.

Speaker 2:

This is not your first acting because you played in some other things or not.

Speaker 5:

This is my first, like, movie.

Speaker 2:

Okay.

Speaker 5:

Yeah. But, I mean, I did when I was in college, I had, like, a acting course.

Speaker 13:

Mhmm.

Speaker 5:

So we had to do live stuff, improvise. But for me, as far as I'm not foreign to the camera, though. So for me and and I modeled before, which is to me, like, still acting. You know what I mean? Like, you I have to pull something off that may not be me, you know, but it's just you're not it's not motion.

Speaker 5:

You know what I mean? But yeah. So, yeah. It it was it was I I felt from III felt I didn't feel uncomfortable is what I'm trying to say. Yeah.

Speaker 5:

You know? But it's still, a skill as far as remembering the script and, you know, the chemistry I have with that person. And, well, and me and Malik, we had, you know, a scene and stuff like that. And and that was kinda, the scene we had together was kinda different because I already know him.

Speaker 2:

Right.

Speaker 5:

So the scene that we had, it was kinda coming out your body.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 5:

You know, being that we already know each other.

Speaker 2:

You know

Speaker 5:

what I mean? So it was just, it was fun, though. III appreciate the opportunity. So Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. You know? Definitely. Miss Rachel, you're over there, ma'am, DJ Boom. Miss Rachel, you say you was the bartender?

Speaker 12:

I was.

Speaker 2:

Okay. So how did you feel? Is this your first, acting

Speaker 12:

part? It yes. In a movie, absolutely. I actually went to college for videography, so I used to fill in for my classmates in that. But actual, you know, this exposure yeah.

Speaker 12:

This absolute first 1.

Speaker 2:

So did you enjoy it?

Speaker 12:

Absolutely. I did. Every second.

Speaker 2:

Oh, good. So, mister, hit me up. It's coming out. Can we tell how can we how can we give?

Speaker 3:

Oh, no. They they try and tell you don't forget boom.

Speaker 2:

Oh, no. We got no. I'm a come after boom. I don't forget. Boom.

Speaker 2:

Like, hey. Y'all better make sure I'm gonna come back. Alright. But d DJ Boom, you wanna go now? Or what?

Speaker 2:

Oh, you wanna wait?

Speaker 9:

Movie overlooked at the interview. This

Speaker 2:

is No.

Speaker 6:

No. No. Clown.

Speaker 2:

DJ Boom, we were just trying to get to everybody. You know, I try to bounce back. I got a little cute car here. Okay. So, DJ Boom, we gonna come to you.

Speaker 2:

We gonna just, like, what DJ Boom? Oh, hi. And what did you do with, mister Hit Me Up?

Speaker 9:

Well, basically, what I did was, I was a a guy at the bar. Oh. But let me tell you, I'm the most dramatic performance of a guy at the bar.

Speaker 2:

At the bar. Okay.

Speaker 9:

I still won an Academy Award for

Speaker 2:

For being at the bar.

Speaker 9:

For just being at the bar. And, basically, all I did was, you know, those are my guys. We go back. I remember them Jodeci days with their pictures

Speaker 11:

blasting on the front

Speaker 9:

of the truck and oh, yeah. Yeah. I was there. Me and them cats go way back.

Speaker 6:

Yes.

Speaker 9:

But, basically, yeah. I just showed up at the, I just showed up on the set and just bugged them to death until they put me in the movie. They're like, boom. They gonna leave until we give them give them something. So yeah.

Speaker 9:

So Got it.

Speaker 2:

And, I mean, they made it so comfortable. Then I'm like, for the first time, it was like you said, some of y'all y'all, like, got the career of singing and modeling. You know what I mean? But the people that just doing it just to I I basically did it to boost my confidence level, to just be out there and just, like, push myself to do something new. And it was just, like, being comfortable.

Speaker 2:

Like, when I was sitting with Trey, he was like, I know you practice the script because I'm trying to be like, yeah. And then mister hit me up said this, you know. And he was like, no. You know, you don't gotta go verbatim. He was just like, you know, just say this.

Speaker 2:

It's like, how you feel? And I'm like, I'm sweating. I'm like, I'm done with this. I'm like, I don't wanna do this no more. And then my my partner was there, and he was like, look.

Speaker 2:

Just calm down. I'm like, it is no. I appreciate y'all, like, now that I've seen this and, like, the the ending, the end of the movie is, like, it's a lot of work. So I do appreciate all actors. Lastly, where the Academy Awards and all that stuff come in, that is a lot.

Speaker 2:

You know? Yes. So, I just wanted to say that. But, can we talk about mister hit me up? Like, can we give, like, a little Yeah.

Speaker 2:

A little something about what's gonna be going on without telling the you know? You know? Yeah. You need to watch. But, what can we say?

Speaker 2:

You know?

Speaker 8:

Well, yeah, let me slide back, and let me just say this. I appreciate, each and every last 1 of you, that was part of this move.

Speaker 2:

Yep. Yep.

Speaker 8:

We we truly appreciate it. You guys came here, did your thing. And the reason why Tiffany did great is because we had a phone conversation prior.

Speaker 2:

Mhmm.

Speaker 8:

And I her personality, I already knew that.

Speaker 13:

Right.

Speaker 8:

You know? I said, just show up. I'll send you the script. Just show up.

Speaker 2:

Right.

Speaker 3:

You know

Speaker 8:

what I mean? So we really do, appreciate everybody and their support. So go ahead, Malik. I'll let you go ahead and chime on mister Hit

Speaker 2:

Me Up.

Speaker 6:

Let's get it. Mister Hit Me Up is extremely, you know, personal because we feel like with this story and with this movie, we were bringing, to the visual screen a lot of reality.

Speaker 13:

Mhmm.

Speaker 6:

You talk about, youth trauma, domestic violence, you know, how people deal with it. Some people take the just a different path of dealing with it, so you get a lot of that in the, mister Hit Me Up. You get the love, the brotherhood, you get clutch decision makings and stuff like that, You know? So it it it takes you you know, it's it's smooth too. And on on the other side, on the flip side, it's a very, you know, smooth move movie.

Speaker 6:

So, again, that's just gonna be my, snapshot take on it, you know, to the audience. So, yeah, 9th, you know, pull up, watch it. You know, is is a very exciting, moment.

Speaker 8:

Oh, yes. And, so it's Aaron on Peacock Mhmm. Voodoo, Tubi, Prime, Hoopla, a lot of a lot of major streamings. And then a month later, it's gonna be in rotation on a lot of streaming channels

Speaker 9:

as well.

Speaker 8:

So, just look look for that. You know what I mean?

Speaker 6:

So

Speaker 2:

Yep. Give us a call. 612-377-3456. If you have any, questions for these, tell us. I have a question.

Speaker 2:

If you wanna get into the movie industry go ahead, miss Tony. I was waiting. I was like, do you have something? I'm trying to be right.

Speaker 4:

My question is, will you be having any, streaming parties?

Speaker 2:

Oh. Y'all can hire me

Speaker 4:

for marketing, by the way.

Speaker 2:

Let's just put that as an underlay for the overlay.

Speaker 6:

That's what DJ Dime comes comes in. You know, she she's, you know, she's the resource, you know what I mean, when it comes to that type of, building it that way. So I'm I'm a rock with the crew. So whatever the group and the crew wants to do, you know, we'll we'll get it.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. That'd be nice to have a streaming party. I know. Right? Yeah.

Speaker 10:

We would like to.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. We

Speaker 5:

would like to. Definitely. Definitely. Just getting it together, getting a venue, you know, for it. You know, I think it would be dope, preferably, you know, black venue.

Speaker 5:

Right. But but, yeah. You know, let's do it. I'll DJ, you know, whatever. Like, let's put it together and let's

Speaker 10:

And we'll all perform. Yeah.

Speaker 7:

No. I'm just gonna you're gonna

Speaker 2:

see the Jodeci. I gotta see the I'm going home and look up this Jodeci. Look at him. Look at him.

Speaker 6:

He ready to go. But you know those last minute so, you know, audience, this is last minute. She just pulled up with that question, and we're like, you know, this is next.

Speaker 2:

This is Yeah. You know that? Call

Speaker 8:

But we still can do it, you know, because it's it's gonna be streaming forever.

Speaker 6:

So Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 2:

I

Speaker 8:

mean, we don't have to do it right before the release street release date. You know, we can always put this party, together because it's gonna be streaming forever.

Speaker 2:

So And then y'all got the hostess with the mostest. Yeah. Yeah. So I'm asking you a question. Is it very important to or who I know you said it's important for, you know, who the role.

Speaker 2:

Is it important, like, the to make sure that everybody's, like, kumbaya? Can you, like if it's a difficult person, like, is it just even if they know the part, but they're difficult, is it like a no go? Or is it just definitely based on how the role is? I mean Does that make sense? Right?

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 8:

That makes sense.

Speaker 2:

Because, like, how important is that? Because I see how you all, like, vibe, but I can understand, like, in a high Mhmm. It's very intense. Yeah. I don't think people think it's intense.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. It's intense.

Speaker 8:

Yeah. I mean, when you're casting, you know, from our experience, when you're casting, you screening these you know, you're screening the people, and you have to know what personality that's coming in. Now, you know, you you you have your ups and downs when it comes down to filming, you know, because you got everybody have all these different personalities. Right?

Speaker 13:

Right.

Speaker 2:

Mhmm.

Speaker 8:

So but if everybody comes and they're professional and they come to work, and we do a carefree. Anybody could tell you that's been a part of our movie. We're carefree with it.

Speaker 9:

Right.

Speaker 8:

You know, we're not cracking whips. We're not, you know, taking you know, we're not making everybody feel uncomfortable. It's just like we all hanging out chilling.

Speaker 13:

Right.

Speaker 8:

You know, that's how we have our sets.

Speaker 2:

Now that's too was impressive. Just how calm they was. Like Mhmm. Don't worry about it. You know, my nerves get bad, so you know how we are.

Speaker 2:

Like, if we come in, it's like if somebody was late or somebody was just setting up or whatever, they was just like, okay. Well, you wanna just eat

Speaker 6:

or, you know And I co tell that. Yeah. So, again, that's when, just having an an amazing crew comes into place. Mister Leonard who, did a phenomenal job directing on this. So because when I'm not, you know what I mean, in front of the camera doing my part, I get the opportunity to kinda just see through the lens, through the cinematographer's lens

Speaker 2:

Right. Right.

Speaker 6:

Of what that scene look like. Because sometimes when you're when you're doing the role, you may think that you're killing it or not killing it. Right. That's where you know what I mean? Good directing skills to come in and say, yes.

Speaker 6:

We we we we got that.

Speaker 2:

Right. You know what I mean?

Speaker 6:

And they'll and we we push for more. You know what I mean? Because there's always more in the tank. So we wanna have just a plethora of museum of different shots so we know we got what we need.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 6:

You know what I mean? So it's just, again, having just a great solid crew.

Speaker 8:

And, you know, and shout and shout out to Leonard Searcy.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 8:

Because we, you know, when we we wrote the movie, we doing we have all these hats.

Speaker 2:

Yep.

Speaker 8:

And getting him and having him be a part of it, he came and kinda took direction because the director, when he's on the set, guess what? It's his set.

Speaker 2:

Right. Yeah.

Speaker 8:

Right? We it doesn't matter if we wrote it or not, and you have to follow direction. And then everybody like, Melissa, you have a a crew, everybody play their part. Mhmm. Right?

Speaker 8:

Just like football team. If you're a quarterback, running back way, play your part.

Speaker 2:

Right.

Speaker 8:

You know what I mean? So, shout shout out to, Leonard and Anthony. Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Yes. And just

Speaker 8:

talk to him.

Speaker 2:

Yep. And that's what and that's what I was saying. It's it's so much patience. Because it's like you're you're doing especially if you don't get it as as you said, like, with Leonard. It was like that patience to be like, okay.

Speaker 2:

Let's just try it again, you know, without feeling because you will probably beat yourself up more. I don't know if that ever happened. You beat yourself up more not thinking that you could get that part or got it right. Like you say, you thought you killed it, but you like but it's just it does take a team to be like, okay. Look.

Speaker 2:

You got it.

Speaker 6:

Yep. That's the thing. Amora, you can speak on that and and, that was thank you for that question because there's a scene in mister Hit Me Up where I think Amora and mister Hit Me Up, they had to do this scene, what, 3 or 4 different times in different settings. Right?

Speaker 2:

So what was what yeah.

Speaker 6:

What was was that? Remember when you had

Speaker 10:

Yeah. 2 or

Speaker 6:

3 different locations. You had to keep redoing it. What was that like for you, Amora?

Speaker 10:

Oh my goodness. I'm like, again? No. No. I don't I don't really think that it was my fault or Trey's fault.

Speaker 10:

But, like, as Trey said early on, there's gonna be things that happen. Right? It could be lighting. It could be

Speaker 2:

Right. Right.

Speaker 10:

Sound. It could be all these other things working against us. So just having to redo it, I guess, every time you you got it, you're getting better at it because you've done it 3 times already. So it's like, you know your lines. The chemistry is already there.

Speaker 10:

You kind of already figured out what you wanna keep in that scene and what you wanna take out. So it kinda just it honestly made it easier even though, of course, you don't wanna do it 3 times.

Speaker 2:

Right. But

Speaker 8:

you wanna know something, though? Amora, like, you can tell that she's an artist

Speaker 2:

Mhmm.

Speaker 8:

As well because she would be like, if I gotta do it up if we gotta do it over again, we're gonna

Speaker 2:

do it over again. Right. I'm like, are

Speaker 12:

you sure, Trey?

Speaker 2:

You sure you don't wanna do it over? Right. He's like, I gotta I'm

Speaker 8:

I'm trying to put this dress back up. I'm I'm tired of got this dress in my trunk for 5 days.

Speaker 2:

And let's just talk about so being that we're talking about locations. I know we was at some beautiful spots. I'm like, when I was watching, like, Quicken Loans, I'm like, where is this at in Minnesota? Where are they getting these cars from? Hello?

Speaker 2:

These, nice cars. So let's talk about that. Like, you was at the golf course and, like, how do how does how does that work, when you starting out on a movie?

Speaker 8:

I chime in on it. It's relationships.

Speaker 6:

Mhmm.

Speaker 8:

You know, it's the connections that you have and the relationships. And it's 1 thing about being coming from the music industry our our mom always told us way back in the day, never walk out of a door you can't walk back into.

Speaker 13:

That's right.

Speaker 8:

So you handle your business right. You be humble. You be loyal to what you're doing. Don't disrespect anybody because, you know, 1 day you might need them.

Speaker 2:

Right.

Speaker 8:

So Right. We start making phone calls. It's weird because we never get no's. We never get a no. Right?

Speaker 8:

And it's only because of relationship that's relationships that we have built with people back in the day. Respect's earned respect, and then people support you and look at look at look after you when you call. So the the locations, they just come. Beautiful. You know what I mean?

Speaker 8:

We we call them, let them know what we're doing. Right. And they excited about it because they they know our story. And then they also wanna be a part of it, and we want them to be a part of it as well. And then it's it's also at the same time, it's promoting their business

Speaker 2:

Mhmm.

Speaker 8:

As well.

Speaker 2:

You know

Speaker 8:

what I mean? So we always wanna keep it in the community and and build from there.

Speaker 2:

Right. Let's talk about this soundtrack.

Speaker 9:

Oh, we've

Speaker 2:

been. Rico Novocean was on his way. That's my boy. Rico was on his way. Now we're going to talk about this.

Speaker 2:

I go Rico played in a crooked line too. Right? Yep.

Speaker 8:

He was in crooked

Speaker 2:

line too. Out for yeah. Wait. I can't tell that part. Right?

Speaker 2:

But Rico is the R and B artist. Well known. Rico. Rico. Yeah.

Speaker 2:

And, he's also with Cam O. J. Doing big things out here. So I want him in here so he could talk about his part. So he's a mister Loveman and and he gets to singing.

Speaker 2:

So

Speaker 6:

We we gonna let Vince Yeah. Yeah. We gonna let

Speaker 2:

Vince go there. First of all, and then let us know how you pick who you want because I think, you know, you submit music for it. But how do you pick the songs for the the particular movie?

Speaker 11:

Well, all of those songs were original songs.

Speaker 2:

Mhmm.

Speaker 11:

So you're pretty much when you hear that, the soundtrack on the of the movie, those songs where we all, you know,

Speaker 6:

I would we all of

Speaker 11:

our connects sent us music, and we just sift through whatever that was, you know, good enough Right. For the scene. So when you're building up a, you know, a scene, you wanna look and have the right emotion, you know, to it. And so the music plays a big part of that. Mhmm.

Speaker 11:

And so we just have people send music, you know, blessed us with some music, new music, new artists, and we sift through it, and we gotta it the soundtrack is really, really good.

Speaker 9:

Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 11:

The the music is really, really, really, really good. So you guys are gonna enjoy that.

Speaker 2:

So it's only, like, local artists? Oh, yeah.

Speaker 11:

Well, we and you know what? We did bring a a special guest, Brian, Angel from day 26. He's actually in the movie.

Speaker 2:

Right. Yep.

Speaker 11:

He's in the movie in the scene with me. I didn't even know I was

Speaker 2:

gonna be in the scene. He was

Speaker 11:

like, oh, dog. You in the same I was like, okay. Let's let's let's handle handle our business. But he's actually in the movie as well, you know, as as an artist. So, yep, we, you know, just sift through all the good music that we had.

Speaker 11:

It was it was a shame because we had so much good music. Some of the music didn't even make. Right.

Speaker 2:

Mhmm.

Speaker 6:

Yeah. Then, 1 of our, you wanna speak on that? What? 1 of our sound, producers connected us with the legendary mister Alexander

Speaker 11:

Oh, yeah. Alexander. Yep. Sure.

Speaker 6:

He got a monster track.

Speaker 2:

You know

Speaker 6:

what I mean? Uh-uh. And mister hit me up. So it it's just cool to see how it all comes together. There's a lot of, talent here, a lot of creativity here, and we just we we barely scratching the surface.

Speaker 6:

Right? So so this is big. You know what I mean? And for all I'm just, like, even now, I'm just excited because especially for you, Amora. I mean, you come out the gates and we land on Peacock.

Speaker 4:

Come on.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. That's like like, we killing it. You know

Speaker 6:

what I mean? We burning up. We coming out today's burning.

Speaker 2:

And she played that role, baby. You know? Let's say she worked for that too, honey. Yeah. I wanna I wanna I

Speaker 8:

wanna chime in on something. I'm looking at my boy, through the through the glass window, Q Bear. Right?

Speaker 2:

Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 8:

So speaking of music, a lot of people don't know, man. For us, it started at KM OJ.

Speaker 2:

Oh, facts. Yep.

Speaker 8:

I'm talking about like, seriously, I'm like, when we came here, I I don't know where they were. It was it was real small. And I remember the satellite went out for, what, 9 days.

Speaker 3:

It was at 501 Okay. Yeah.

Speaker 2:

You know, don't play about his little

Speaker 6:

You know what

Speaker 2:

I'm saying? His project. Go ahead now.

Speaker 8:

And I remember my very first song. It was just a demo. And, I don't know. Well, cinderella, there's no fairy tale.

Speaker 2:

I want I

Speaker 8:

want everything to do

Speaker 2:

all that.

Speaker 8:

He played it late at night. You know what I mean? And, And, you know, we just started developing relationships. So shout out to KMOJ and and Q Bear over there, man. We really appreciate it.

Speaker 8:

You already know Q Bear. You know, we've been Indeed. We made Minnesota our home, when it came down to the music because everything channeled through k series. Everything channeled through KMOJ, all of our music.

Speaker 2:

So how long so how long does it usually take for a production? Let's because I know you and your 3rd movie. Right? So Or It's depend the 4th this is the 4th 1.

Speaker 6:

This this is the 3rd 1. We we on our

Speaker 2:

Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. He told me all time. We gonna talk about that. Come on, Malik.

Speaker 2:

Oh, yeah. She told me about that. I think I'm a think I'm a try out again, but

Speaker 8:

yes, I You you you gonna be in it again.

Speaker 2:

Oh, okay. Good. What's the so how long does it take for a production that you will say? Because I know a lot of listeners. Let me wait.

Speaker 2:

I'm sorry. Let me give out the number. 612-377-3456. And I like I said before we got on air, I am more behind this movement because of we got 2 black men, you know, doing something positive for our community. They're showing you, not just telling you that there is something that's bigger in life that you can do.

Speaker 2:

So, you know, I'm always in Trey inbox. Like, hey. What you doing? Come outside. He I'm like, I forget how busy they are, like, to really get him out here.

Speaker 2:

I know that it's gonna be a different level for him and Malik and for all you guys. But, if we got people listening, because it's usually our community, KMOJ Minneapolis. Let you could tell me how long a production does take, but, like, also, like, what could you say to, like, a young black man that will, like, want to get into this industry, like, to just really wanna get started, you know, or this in spite of circumstances or whatever.

Speaker 8:

I'll take the first half of that Okay. Question. It's really crazy because, you know, we we research different personalities and people

Speaker 2:

Mhmm.

Speaker 8:

You know, from sports to that has nothing to do with movies and acting. Right?

Speaker 2:

Right. Right.

Speaker 8:

Musicians and re researching. Kobe Bryant said something that resonated with us. He was like, when you have a passion and you wanna get better and you wanna be the best, you have to turn that passion into an obsession.

Speaker 2:

Mhmm.

Speaker 8:

Yeah. Right? But but you have to have a balance with it because you do have everyday life, but you have to turn that passion in it, especially if you're trying to turn it into a business. Right. And if you're trying to motivate people and, for people that's trying to be in that industry as well or anything that they're doing.

Speaker 8:

For us, it it's an obsession. So we'll be up all night, and it's just days from musicians you know, you in the studio. Next thing you know, it's light outside, birds chirping when you go out, and you started that. Yeah. You know DJ Nymi and and Kumar and Vincent and everybody.

Speaker 8:

And then it's done. Right?

Speaker 2:

Right.

Speaker 8:

For us, we've been blessed because our obsession with the entertainment, industry catapults us to wanna do it, keep doing it, keep doing it, keep doing it. And it's weird because we've getting a lot of praises. I don't I don't mean I'm I'm not trying to, you know, boast or anything, but we were told that we are the the only right now, currently, I would just say here in Minnesota, African American film, production company that has produced these features back to back Yeah. With movie theater showings and streaming worldwide. Mhmm.

Speaker 8:

The only. And that's just a testament. Post.

Speaker 10:

Oh. Right. You deserve it.

Speaker 8:

You know, and that's a testament of everybody around us. You know, we can't do this without y'all. Right. That's the reason why we do

Speaker 9:

it. Right. Yeah.

Speaker 8:

We don't do it for us.

Speaker 2:

You know

Speaker 8:

what I mean? That's the reason why we go to the community, and we we go and get actors, people that have never been in a full feature. Most people that has that we reach out to didn't do a full feature.

Speaker 9:

Right.

Speaker 8:

You know, they've been doing, like, shorts or, you know, commercials or

Speaker 13:

Yeah.

Speaker 8:

Stuff like that, and that's what we want. Those are the people that we're reaching. Right. Because we're trying to build our goal is to build this empire here. We want the Universal Studio.

Speaker 8:

We want, you know, we want that baby Tyler Perry or that Tyler Perry. We want the 50 Cent. You know, we we want we want a building like that.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 8:

You know, we wanna be the first to do it because we know what the plan is. Yeah. And our goal is to combine everybody, to make this happen. So let me I know I was rambling. Let me get you answer your question.

Speaker 6:

He said that to say this.

Speaker 2:

I said

Speaker 8:

all that to say this.

Speaker 2:

And I'm gonna say that to say that because I wanna you know, you or you could we could go back to that if you want to. How long it takes for production? Because that's how but how is it like working with your brother? Because y'all 2 are comedians.

Speaker 6:

Yeah. We are. But but but but I'm a I'm I'm I'm I'm at the choppy. I'm at the choppy and running back. Okay.

Speaker 6:

So, speaking on, like, the the young kings and the young queens.

Speaker 13:

You know

Speaker 6:

what I mean? The youth being able to, like you're saying, have access and opportunities

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 6:

Where I wanna give a shout out to Jordan Middle School, Lakeville, Middle School, East Eastview High School, Prior Lake. Those are, some of the, the youth that's in our movies.

Speaker 2:

Okay.

Speaker 6:

So Oh, yeah. Yeah. So we we we stand on business with the youth. This next film is gonna be, VIP Bad Boys production. First time having a costar that's, you know, a teenager.

Speaker 6:

And, so yeah. So we definitely staying connected and committed. You know what I mean? Working with, the youth, black men, it's just all youth. You know what I mean?

Speaker 6:

So we're gonna stand on business with that. So so when you when so this is the KMOJ VIP Bad Boys production invitation to the youth. Hey. Get at your boys. You know what I mean?

Speaker 6:

Let's let's let's let's get it. You know what I mean? Let's go to the next level. We we are very excited, you know, working with the with the students and the kids.

Speaker 2:

Yep. Yeah. 6123-77-3456. You can call in if you have any questions. So the 2 comedians because what I noticed when I was on set with them, them 2, the brothers, you know, sometimes it could be like my little brother, my big brother.

Speaker 2:

But how is it working with each other? Because I know y'all very tight.

Speaker 6:

No. We tight. Leave. Yeah. Well, what's so crazy about it is, like, you know, me just being able to, you know, beat them up when we was little.

Speaker 6:

So, you know, we we we've always Don't be

Speaker 2:

talking about my trade like that.

Speaker 6:

We've always just,

Speaker 2:

you know We know you the bully man that got You know what? What's so crazy about

Speaker 6:

it is that, you know what? When you got 2 people, family, you know what I mean, friends, whatever it is, like, we understand the expectations of 1 another. We understand the different personalities. So even with writing, you know, of course, we get into the debacles of the what part is the best part. You know what I mean?

Speaker 6:

We're gonna let the. So we we we we work we work through all that. We walk through all that. So it's just a lot of fun to be you know, have the sarcasm in in place. You know what I mean?

Speaker 6:

Those days do get long. And then it also, just makes everyone else, you know, comfortable. You know? Yeah. And Vince really heat.

Speaker 6:

You know

Speaker 2:

Vince start laughing a little bit. We had some food cut. We was there a long time, but yeah.

Speaker 6:

Okay. Go ahead. We had a

Speaker 2:

long we had a long time.

Speaker 6:

But, you know, it's it's just, you know, we we we understand the the end goal, the end game of what we're doing, and so we're just having fun with it. So my expectation is just let's just have some fun.

Speaker 8:

You know

Speaker 6:

what I mean? Let's let's just have a good time. Right.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. How's how's the family back home? What do they say about you guys doing this? Oh. Because you know everybody home, they'd be like, tap my my baby in a movie.

Speaker 2:

Okay. My baby doing moving. So okay. I love it, though, because they'd be super excited and super supportive of you know? Right.

Speaker 8:

Yeah. You know, we, you know, we definitely even though we're even though we're Minnesota, we definitely, rock Rocktown, Little Rock. You know, the family support is what keeps us going.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 8:

Because because it's just me and Willie here. We don't have family here. Yeah. You know? So everybody's back there, but it seems like they're here.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 8:

You know? Mom's always in the ear. Brothers, cousins, everybody is, you know, with the pom poms out cheering Right. You know, from afar. Mhmm.

Speaker 8:

And then that and to see them proud of us in that way means a lot. You know what I mean? Because I'm not saying we're here alone because we got you guys, but, you know

Speaker 11:

Family.

Speaker 8:

Yeah. Family. You know? Yeah. It's it it does get hard sometime, but, you know, that support that they have that especially, you know, that our mom in in instilled in us prior to leaving.

Speaker 8:

Mhmm. You know? Did it hurt her when we said we're gonna come up to Minnesota and do music? Oh, yeah. Mhmm.

Speaker 8:

But she knew because when we were kids, hell, she had us in the living room with hats and crushes and combs in our hand, entertaining everybody. You know what I'm saying?

Speaker 11:

I've seen some of them pictures too.

Speaker 2:

Oh, I'm I'm gonna be researching when I leave. How y'all do I wanna see all this. I'm more how did your family feel about you doing this? You know? Because you said you did some, but then

Speaker 10:

Yeah. And I come from a family of artists and, creators. My mom's a graphic designer, a painter. She also was a singer, and my father came from a a singing background. He plays, the keyboard, and his brothers all play, you know, instruments.

Speaker 10:

So I come from that background, so they're always excited because they're living through me.

Speaker 2:

Right. You know what

Speaker 10:

I mean? Yeah. So if I make it, they make it.

Speaker 2:

Right. I know because your mom was at the the what was the

Speaker 10:

award show.

Speaker 2:

The award show. DJ Boom and your position. DJ Boom, how does your family see it? You you own on that, big screen.

Speaker 9:

Oh, they were loving it. Absolutely. So It's a really big deal here. Absolutely.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 9:

Yeah. I was really happy to to be a part of this, with, Trey and Malik. Just like I mentioned, we go way back, and I just bugged them and thought it was like, okay. Cool.

Speaker 2:

We gonna put you at this bar.

Speaker 9:

We gonna put you at this bar just

Speaker 8:

so you can

Speaker 2:

set up.

Speaker 8:

No. He just showed up.

Speaker 2:

He's like, I can do so. Let me be in the back. So I do so. Yeah. Miss Rachel, how does your family feel seeing you on a big screen?

Speaker 12:

It's a big deal in my family because my brothers and I are all of the creative ones. Okay. No one's really done anything like this. So, like, my my older brother, my younger brother are they were musicians in high school and that, but I also do photography and videography. And so we're a bunch of different creative things.

Speaker 12:

So, yeah, they're always excited about what I'm doing.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. Alright, Dime. You know, you've been on the scene. So, I mean, like, how did your family feel? I mean, I'm glad you're excited.

Speaker 2:

No. Because, you know, I met Dime's mom at an event, and I was like, she was like, my baby. I was like, we love your daughter. So, you know, like and I know we I have never met her, but, you know, her personality that I can definitely see where you got everything from. So.

Speaker 5:

Well, for me, yeah, they my family's real supportive. So, anything that I'm doing is just, they just love it, you know. And then, like, my my parents are always saying, like, they came over for the 4th. Oh, I'm so proud of you and, like, everything. What really is so cool to me is, like, growing up, everybody that I know growing up, even from high school that I see now or they say, you said you was gonna do this and really doing it.

Speaker 5:

And that to me is just like, man. Yeah. You're right.

Speaker 2:

You know

Speaker 5:

what I'm saying? So to me, that's just like it's inspiration for other people too. It's just like ever since I've known you, even my parents, like, I remember when you was doing Michael Jackson and, you know, like, and, and, you know, and then they're like, man, and you really stuck with it. Like, Like, I'm proud of you. So for me, it's just cool, but it just keeps evolving.

Speaker 5:

So now it's like, okay, what's next? You know, for me. So I appreciate the opportunity that, Malik and Trey gave me for this because this is, like, with my brand, it's a whole different, you know, thing. I could like, man, I can

Speaker 2:

actually do some acting now. I can do this now.

Speaker 5:

I can do this, you know. So it's just like, I can do this, you know? So it's just like, I just feel like there's no limit,

Speaker 2:

you know, to it. So it's great. Put it on your resume.

Speaker 6:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. 61 yeah. Yeah. I got the opportunity right now. Whoever is up with us on KMOJ and the opinions, 612-377-3456.

Speaker 2:

Give us a call. Y'all can ask Trey and Malik or anybody other than any other actresses or actors questions.

Speaker 6:

No. Let's flip the question to you.

Speaker 2:

Oh, sure.

Speaker 6:

Yeah. Same same same question applied to yourself.

Speaker 3:

Same question

Speaker 6:

applied to yourself. Which 1? 0, you forgot what you asked? Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. Yeah. What?

Speaker 6:

Yeah. So how does your your your family, your circles, your people

Speaker 2:

I mean, it's cool. I was I was a trouble team. So all of this is, like, you know, just to see the outcome. You know what I say? Because we most of us are spiritual.

Speaker 2:

I don't know who ever believe in what, but, you know, nothing changes for what God has for you.

Speaker 6:

Yeah. Mhmm.

Speaker 2:

No matter what it is. You know? And that's what I try to put in my kids right now. Like, you either gonna go this way. It's nothing when he wrote it, it was the beginning and the end.

Speaker 2:

He closed the chapter, and this is what it's gonna be. It's when I'm older than I'm getting, it's like to understand how long this gonna take for you to get there.

Speaker 6:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

You know what I mean? And no matter what people say or how it is, like, ultimately, you're gonna be what it is that god said that you're gonna be. Right. And you gotta believe that. And I tell my kids, I'm like, look.

Speaker 2:

You a god. He got a blessed place for you. And no matter what's the trials and tribulations of life, it's not gonna change. But, baby, you either gonna go there the hard way or the, you know, long way. So for me, my parents, my mom, she is super happy because they was like, you know, I was a teenage mom.

Speaker 2:

I was making all kind of bad decisions, came to Minnesota. And like I said, the nineties people that came to Minnesota is way different from the 2000 and up because we came with a plan.

Speaker 7:

Right. Right.

Speaker 2:

We wanted to change. We wanted to make sure that we could stay focused, to go to school, to make a better life for our children. And we we had a plan not to come and do the same thing that we were doing in Chicago or down south or the life that we was going down, whatever. You know? And so they are super proud.

Speaker 2:

And right now, my kids who the Bratz that was raised here, I'm just trying to show them how to take advantage of, you know, the opportunities that they do have because you don't have to do what I did. Right. Right. You know what I'm saying? So

Speaker 6:

Speak on it.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. That's what I love about it. And I always that's we tried it. This is why the 4 opinions are here. That's why I wanted to have you guys here because I'm like, we don't highlight the positive things that's going on in our community.

Speaker 2:

Was it scary to join, you know, to do it? Yes. But we still just trying to know where where God is trying to put us. There we go. We got Rico in the building.

Speaker 2:

Come on, Rico.

Speaker 7:

Coming in in.

Speaker 2:

And, yeah. Right. And that crunch time. But, yeah, that's the thing about it. So you guys give us a call.

Speaker 2:

612-377-3456. I am always with the black men men and the movement as long as it's positive. Because we just we highlight too much of the bull crap. Right. We don't talk about this.

Speaker 2:

This is this is major in Minneapolis. And you hear this, this, this all day on social media, but you don't hear about Trey. You know, Trey and Malik. You know about Amora. People doing things there.

Speaker 2:

And then and so I wanted to talk about that. We're not gonna try to get, like, get into, like, the finance part of it. But this is, like, out of your pocket.

Speaker 8:

Oh, yeah.

Speaker 2:

You know what I'm saying? Like, no nobody's like and that's the part that we don't talk about because I'm like, that's how I could get frustrated. Like, nobody comes in, but, like, here go a $1, 000, 000 check for your next you know? And I looked at that, like, they doing everything. They fed us well.

Speaker 2:

I mean, the hospitality was on past 20. Mhmm. You know? And this is, like, all from their, you know, hard earned money and for what because they believe in they sell, first of

Speaker 6:

all. Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Can you also talk about how can you also talk about how you got to

Speaker 4:

spend money to make money? Because that right now in this world, in this day and age, people just believe it just shows up And they don't wanna do the work. They wanna do something fast and quick. Right. Right.

Speaker 4:

And short money is not long long money. Yep.

Speaker 6:

No. We we we call it, stepping over a dollar to get a dime.

Speaker 2:

Mhmm.

Speaker 6:

So, you know, bet on yourself.

Speaker 5:

Right.

Speaker 6:

You know? Because I think, you know, when you bet on yourself, it's there's a there's a different mentality. You know what I mean? That there's they enter you. There's a different mentality that that kinda shows up.

Speaker 6:

But, you know, again, we trust the process. We, trust the people that that we're around. We really believe in, you know what I mean, the structure and and and the disciplines that we have. And we know in the end, we're gonna get that back. We're gonna pop

Speaker 2:

that bottle. Yeah.

Speaker 6:

So we know we popping that bottle in the end. So, again, just don't don't oh, out price yourself. Don't overprice, underprice. I mean, you really gotta be strategic. You know what I mean?

Speaker 6:

Moving like us doing it. Each time we do it, we learn something more about the business Right. Aspect of it.

Speaker 2:

And and that's another thing. If you don't put a a stamp of what the price is, even if you have people with you and be like, okay. Look. You gonna do this. We're not getting paid, or this is gonna take this time.

Speaker 2:

But to see people be committed because people are so money motivated. Right. You know what I mean? They money motivated. And it's like, no.

Speaker 2:

Like, if you believe in what's gonna happen, you gonna put in that time without getting paid a dime. That was very impressive as well. When I I was like, yeah. I was like, yeah. They this is they all financed this by they said, well, whatever.

Speaker 2:

But I know people or if they do get help or whatever, but I know the majority has come from these 2 black men legally working hard. Every time I call Malik I mean, Trey, I'm at work. I gotta call you back. I'm at work. I gotta call you back.

Speaker 2:

I'm I got I'm like, take 5 minutes. You know? But, you know, working for his dream, you know, for their dream.

Speaker 8:

And, you know, speaking of that, you know, we we are looking for a staff to be over. You know, we're getting give you the budget to go get the food because Malik spent all the money on chicken. Yeah.

Speaker 2:

I thought I thought they did as well.

Speaker 6:

I think I think we might have a call

Speaker 11:

or somebody called in there. You know what I mean? Like, where's

Speaker 6:

the transition at

Speaker 2:

right now? The transition right now. We got Rico devotion in the building. Yeah.

Speaker 6:

Oh, I recall.

Speaker 2:

We go. We already did the highlights of your beautiful, beautiful. What is the sultry? Sultry. The the the set up the voice.

Speaker 2:

But we told them that you are the soundtrack. And then I when I was watching, what was it? Cooking lines. I said Rico popped out. I was like, oh, sure.

Speaker 2:

Look at Rico. I'm like, I know him, but go here Rico. Let's tell us how I was working with the fellas with mister Hit Me Up. Man, you know, it was it was

Speaker 13:

a lot of fun. We've all known each other for a very, very long time from movie to the big screen, so it it was nice, working with my brothers. You know what I'm saying? We we both from the we all from the south, moved up here to Minnesota and been able to just do this amazing thing. So being on that on that film on Crooked Lines and mister Hit Me Up Mhmm.

Speaker 13:

This was super dope, you know, and then working with, you know, obviously my other family members, Laura, DJ Dime, Dime. I mean, just everybody. Just seeing all of us on that same screen, same city doing the same thing, it's a beautiful movement.

Speaker 6:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. I can't wait till it come out. I wanna publicly say I love you, Rico. Rico has been my big brother. I he don't have to probably try to whoop me a couple of times over.

Speaker 2:

I ain't gonna say whoop, but he had to get me in shape. I love you, Rico. You are I'm amazed at all the stuff you do. When he be in Africa, he get all his VIP service. I'm like, let us know a little bit about yourself, Rico, because you are so humble.

Speaker 2:

You never say it, but you are. Tell us about can we get a little bit of your history about what you do?

Speaker 13:

You know, being being able to still do what I love on the music style has been a blessing. Getting inducted into the Hall of Fame in LA was Yeah. Something that really moved me emotionally, you know. It's just it's it's an amazing feeling just because I can do what I love and know that I have so many people behind me supporting and cheering me on. And it's hard to see that when there's people that's in the same business as you.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. You

Speaker 13:

know, but, like, everybody in this room has been super supportive. The city has been super supportive, and right now, I've toured over 32 countries.

Speaker 8:

Oh. So it's

Speaker 13:

been a blessing.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. That's nice. And and if you need any mentorship, like, what I like like, again, I'm I'm a highlight my black brothers. Like, the mentorship. I mean, the tough love, the strong love, the love love, the get it together love.

Speaker 2:

I appreciate it when I came into camo, Jay. Like I said, Rico and them, I get on his nerves. I know sometime. But to take you under the I get on everybody nerves, but, you know, I could be out of control. But to just, you know, take a person under their wing because they believe in you because you don't have the confidence.

Speaker 2:

You don't know what's going on. But, you know, Dyme, we don't know. But it's like somebody sees something else in you and to it's okay to to share that with that person. You know what I mean? The more of they knew that you came in, like, okay.

Speaker 2:

You are better than. And, we don't get that a lot. Yeah.

Speaker 10:

About them. You know, about Malik and and Trey and Leonard and Vince and Rico. Like, they all just have always looked out for me and gave me opportunities. So, yeah, anytime, you know, there's an opportunity, they're like, Amora can do it. So Right.

Speaker 10:

Yeah. I'm very thankful of that.

Speaker 2:

And I love to break the narratives of this Minnesota is nice, nasty. No. There are still some people out here that is really backing people up. You know what I mean? It's really people out here that's mentoring people.

Speaker 2:

There's really people that want to see you win. So And I wanna act like they're not from Minnesota. Wait, but no, they are. But it doesn't matter the way. That's why I'm about to say no.

Speaker 2:

I'm not going to say that on this station because because of that statement right there is why people don't believe that. I ask people from Minnesota that is.

Speaker 3:

She just walked herself.

Speaker 2:

I know. I was just about to say III wanna protect my That because because because let me let me

Speaker 3:

let me set a record.

Speaker 2:

Right.

Speaker 3:

I turned 65 on Friday. I was born right here in Minneapolis. And all of these fellas that that are doing, hey. They've been on my team. I've been on 18.

Speaker 3:

It's nothing but love from a to z.

Speaker 2:

Amen. Right.

Speaker 3:

You could take every alphabet, all 26, and then turn them in reverse, and you're still gonna start back to where you started from.

Speaker 2:

Okay. Yeah. Hell, I knew you was gonna say that. You know you were gonna make him mad because I'm like, I know that there is some people.

Speaker 5:

Let me just say something quick. As far as, with Q Bear, when I came here, like, I interned and everything. Like, they basically he basically took me under a wing, and now I'm at the station I'm at, and I'm doing big things. And it started at KMLJ. So I wanna thank KMLJ.

Speaker 5:

KMOJ.

Speaker 2:

That's what I said.

Speaker 11:

Same here with me. Same here with me. When me and my brother came into town, VOL, he was the first DJ to break VOL as a group. And, you know, I'm you know, much love to that, Q.

Speaker 6:

Right. Yeah.

Speaker 2:

And that's I was gonna say me doing the internship, I wouldn't be where I was at it from camo j. I was interning Right. Was 6 to 9 AM Monday through Friday for free. Right. Sweet.

Speaker 2:

Go give me

Speaker 10:

a shout out. Right. Give a shout out too because camo j is the 1st radio radio station that had me in rotation

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 10:

When I submitted my music. So that was big for me. So, you know, we're talking about family seeing you on a big screen, but it's also, like, just family seeing and hearing your music on a on a radio and just seeing you pursue your dreams and, you know, it's a beautiful thing. So

Speaker 2:

Alright, y'all. We got 1 minute. I want to push, push, push. Tuesday, July 9th. Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Speaker 4:

Why was she look like that? I mean, you

Speaker 2:

said that that critique yourself and then DJ Dime, she got on a big screen. Like, did I get a picture thing? I can't rewrite. And then I wait for my name to come on the credit. It's exciting, man.
