Commonly Asked Questions Pt 2
===
Jared: [00:00:00] Welcome to Vitality Radio. My name is Jared St. Clair. I'm your host each and every week, a couple times a week on this podcast. Last week I talked about on Wednesday, episode 2 95, I talked about the most asked questions that I received at Vitality on Vitality nutrition dot com's chat, uh, feature. Uh, through direct message on Instagram and Facebook and, uh, various other ways that I get questions.
And I knew it wasn't gonna be a one part series because there's just too many questions that are really commonly asked. So I decided to do it as at least a two-parter and. I might do it as three. We'll see how much we get done today. So that's the topic for today is part due, part two, or due of the, um, most asked questions of 2022.
But, uh, before I get into that, uh, just a couple of things that, uh, have happened this week that are really interesting. I'm, I'm excited about this show. I'm generally excited [00:01:00] about, just about everything I do in my business. I'm incredibly blessed to do what I do with a podcast, with Vitality, nutrition, vitality, Nutri.
Dot com and so on and so on. But there's this really unique little thing that I started back in July, so we're about six months in now. Uh, and uh, there's about almost 400 people I think, in this little group. And it's called the Facebook, uh, listeners community. And if you're on Facebook, if you're not on Facebook, don't get on Facebook.
For me, Facebook's a, it's a mixed bag to say for sure, but if you're on Facebook already and you're checking out things there, uh, check out the listener's community. There's a link at the bottom of the description of this show, uh, on whatever podcast app you're listening to. So check that out in that group today, I, or yesterday I guess it was, I.
What I already knew, but it just got cemented a little bit more. We just have amazing people in there, truly amazing people, uh, with really, really [00:02:00] great hearts. And if you're looking for a place that's kind of a, a great place to, you know, bat ideas around when it comes to health and nutrition, you're looking for a place where you can.
Good, solid non-judgmental advice in a social media platform. Oh my goodness. Is that possible? Well, vitality radio listeners, community seems to be that place and people really like it. We also have a little bit of fun in there. We post some funny memes and I try to answer as many questions as I possibly can, but we've got such a great.
Group of people in there that oftentimes I don't even need to step in because the answers have already been, uh, made before I got a chance to see 'em. So check that out. Also, if you have questions about anything you hear on Vitality Radio, you know where to find us. 8 0 1 2 9 2 66 62. That's 8 0 1 2 9 2 66 62.
Vitality, nutrition, and Bountiful or vitality nutrition.com. And like I say, there, Chat feature there. All right, so today on the show I'm gonna jump. [00:03:00] some very, very commonly asked questions that I didn't get to last week. Um, I'll preface this with telling you what those things will be. So, you know, if you wanna stick around, I hope that you choose to.
Uh, but we're gonna talk about the most common question that I ever, ever, ever get asked, and probably the most, number one biggest question I've asked, I've been asked. Ever since Vitality Radio started and before Vitality Radio started. And that is what are the most important supplements for me to take.
So we'll talk about that. We'll also talk about shingles. Shingles is running rampant in this country right now and uh, I've never had so many people ever come in to vitality, nutrition and ask me about shingles and the other one that is as crazy, maybe crazier in terms of the amount of. Interest. I'm getting on it we'll say is neuropathy.
So we're gonna talk about shingles and neuropathy today. We're also gonna talk about arthritis. That's one that, of course goes way back. Lots of people have struggled with that, but I've had a lot of questions about it this year. So we'll talk about that a little bit. These will all be kind of [00:04:00] short, you know, maybe eight to 10 minutes.
Per, but really what I'm looking to give you is a short and easy kind of quick user's guide on these topics. And then of course, again, if you have questions, you can reach out to me at those various places. Oh, you can also hit me up on Instagram if you'd like. At Vitality Radio or at Vitality Nutrition.
Bountiful, that's the full name for the store. Uh, Instagram. Uh, both of those are answered by me. Uh, and. There's also something else that's running rampant that I've never heard so much about ever, uh, up until Covid and Covid vaccination and all this stuff happened over the last couple years, and that's brain fog.
So we'll talk about that. If I have time, we might get into insomnia a little bit. I'm not sure if I'm gonna have time for that. And we may even talk just a little bit about the dreaded, uh, sea virus, you know, that thing that, uh, ran around, uh, for people that are dealing with maybe some lingering effects, uh, of.
Again, if I have time, if I [00:05:00] don't, then we'll hit those up maybe on an episode three. I do wanna share one thing with you before we get started. on those top questions of 2022. And that is that, uh, this Saturday I'm really like super intrigued with my own show. It sounds funny, I guess , but I've never done a show quite like it.
And uh, I actually sent my assistant Jessica the title and got a couple of those, uh, you know, crying with laughter emojis back. So I think she's on board. It's gonna be called. things that make me go ug, U g H, you know, things that just annoy the crap outta me. Now I'm guessing some of those things. Might annoy you too, but I also am wondering because of my perspective from kind of the inside looking out when it comes to the health, food, and supplement industry and that kind of thing, I probably have a couple that might be a little new to you.
Either way, the goal is not just to rant and rave and [00:06:00] complain, but to give solutions where there are solutions available for the things, uh, that we'll talk. And then you know, the other part is just to rant and Raven complain. So that's this Saturday. That'll be episode 2 98. 2 98, man. We're doing two more episodes, will be episode 300, and I already have an extremely exciting thing to do for episode 300 with an extremely awesome guest that has never been on Vitality radio that I've been talking to about getting onto vitality radio all the way since back.
April of 2022 and uh, we are finally able to get on each other's calendar and. It's gonna be so cool, so cool. I won't tell you who it is just yet. Yeah. Just in case there's, uh, you know, any changes. But, uh, you're gonna want to check out episode 300 as well. I'm really excited about it. And then lastly, if you haven't checked out episode 95 of the Just Ingredients podcast, please do.
I was on that episode and it was [00:07:00] so much fun. Even more fun than the first one because this time Carl and call and. Know each other. We've become more friendly and, and actually like kind of know a little bit about what each other is doing. She's been on my podcast once. I've been on hers twice now, and I really enjoyed doing that show.
It was a lot of fun and I've met a lot of new people, including possibly you from that show. And if you're a brand new listener because of the Just Ingredients podcast, welcome to Vitality Radio. I am so glad to have you here. Let's jump right in to. topic number one. Topic number one being what's the most important supplement for me to use.
Now, I did an episode all about this. Already, and I'll get you that episode number. In fact, it'll be listed in the description of this episode where I talked about what I originally termed. The Vital Five. And from the Vital Five has actually become a brand of supplements, uh, that I've, uh, had manufactured for me that represent the five categories that [00:08:00] I talk about.
But the Vital five is always the starting place. Now you have things that I don't have and I have things that you don't have, and. I'm not just talking about, you know, like men and women, but uh, you know, we're all different, right? The big wild card in all of this when it comes to health is you, how do things.
behave inside of you in terms of, you know, supplements, vitamins, minerals, herbs, and all those sorts of things. How do they behave inside of me? How does my body respond? How does yours respond? How does your sisters or brothers or friends, husbands, wives, whatever, how do they all respond? And the answer is, well, we don't really know until we try.
So we have to sort of test it out and see what happens. But the Vital Five was designed because I think it. Almost universal. Okay. Almost universal. Almost everybody in America, particularly people in their thirties or above, uh, would benefit from the five supplements in the Vital five because of a variety of reasons.
And that's what I [00:09:00] want to hit. First. Now if you're intrigued by what I say here, go back and listen to My Vitality, uh, or my Vital Five users Guide, which again, I don't have the number in front of me. I forgot to write it down. Uh, but, uh, you w it'll be in the show description because I go into each of those in much more detail than I'll be able to today.
So what are they? Magnesium, A good multivitamin. I always preface that with good because mult multivitamins, in my opinion are crap. Uh, and then you've. probiotics, you've got digestive enzymes and you've got omega-3 fish oil. Now, I did say fish oil, not just omega-3 because in my opinion and, and in, and if you're vegan, uh, or vegetarian and you're not willing to do fish oil, I get it.
And that's fine. You can get your omega three s from things like hemp or flax or chia or those types of things. But if you are not, I do believe that the most superior way, uh, to get those is from fish oil because the bioavailability. Optimized [00:10:00] because the body doesn't have to manufacture anything to get the omega-3 S from fish oil.
So those are the five. And the reason they're so critical is because I just believe almost all of us are deficient. We might be deficient in probiotics because of antibiotics, and if you've been listening to Vitality radio for very long, or if you even found me on the, just in. Podcast on both episodes that I did with her, both 61 and 95.
Uh, I discussed the critical nature of the microbiome. And so that happens. We have glyphosate everywhere that's wrecking our microbiome. Stress is a problem with the microbiome, and of course antibiotics are a problem with the microbiome. So the probiotics, particularly spore forming probiotics are the key to rebuilding that, although there are other things you can do to help as well, such as prebiotics and things like that.
Precision probiotic is a formula I developed two years. But it took about 12 years to get that thing made. It was the longest [00:11:00] time investment, I guess I could say, that I've ever spent trying to develop any product. Uh, it was, uh, really about five years of really actively, you know, trying to come up with a formula.
And then the first seven years were just trying to figure out spore probiotics in the first place, how they worked, why they worked, which ones were the best and so on. So precision probiotic is tru. Unique and a remarkable formula if you're looking to rebuild your microbiome. Um, on the Omega3 side, there's a lot of good omega three s on the market.
My favorite two are my formula, the vital five, omega three, especially if you like the extra antioxidants in there for heart and brain health. The astatin that's in there as well as the coq 10, if you're looking for just omega-3, my favorite is called Ultra Rx Omega. From natural factors, one of my very favorite brands out of Canada.
And then, uh, I mentioned digestive enzymes for most people assimilate. That's a formula that's in our Vital Five [00:12:00] brand. It's a very general use. Enzyme, which I believe is what most people need. Just a good general use digestive enzyme. Assimilate works really, really well. You take it with every one of your meals and it helps you to digest and break down the nutrition from your food.
And, uh, but if you're someone who deals with more, Compromised digestion. Maybe you have significant issues with everything. You know, anything from Crohn's to ulcerative colitis to really severe, um, you know, ibs, uh, celiac, significant amount of food sensitivities, that kind of thing. Then I love digest gold from Enzy Medica, a great, great enzyme or digest spectrum from Enzy Medica if you have a lot of food sensitivities.
So those enzymes are fantastic. And then of course, We have the good multivitamin, as I mentioned, the good multivitamin, well, I developed this one years ago. Um, for somebody else, it wasn't even gonna be my formula. [00:13:00] They never picked it up from vitality, nutrition, and I had about 40,000 capsules I needed to figure out how to get rid of.
So we bottled them up and sold them at a loss, just trying to move them out the door because I was out thousands of dollars. Purchase that didn't ever happen. And then as we were getting about halfway through the batch, we had all the kinds of people coming back in saying, I can't believe how much better I feel on your multivitamin.
What the heck is in there? Well, the idea was to give a multivitamin that does two things, that provides much greater levels of energy. and reduced levels of stress. Uh, not levels of stress. I didn't say that right, cuz like my multivitamin can't make your life less stressful. Right? But help you balance and manage stress more efficiently, uh, with less, you know, impact on things like anxiety and depression and that kind of thing.
And there is a magic little thing that I never talk about. because I don't know why. I've mentioned it a few times on the [00:14:00] show, but I'm gonna mention it here because I think it's important. There's a magic ingredient in the ultimate vitality, molt, multi, it's not crack or speed, thank goodness. But, uh, and you don't feel like that either.
I'm really just joking. There's nothing caffeinated. There's no stimulant. You don't feel wired or jittery. But people routinely, not always, but routinely come in and. This stuff really works. I can feel a big difference in my energy. Why? Because it's not just the vitamins and minerals. Well, there's a couple of things.
One is it does have methylated B vitamins in it. There's benfotiamine, which is I think, In a remarkable Vitamin B one that I'm gonna talk about in both the neuropathy and the shingles section. So you're gonna want to hear about this benfotiamine. It's truly amazing stuff, but it also has methylated uh, b12.
It has P five P for the form of B six, and it also has folate, methyl folate for people that deal with Mt h ffr. If you're not familiar with that, Google it. Mt. H [00:15:00] f r. It's a big thing in a maybe 25. 35% of Americans are dealing with it, and most of us don't know it. Um, this multivitamin will absorb very, very efficiently, even for people with that genetic mutation.
But that's not the secret ingredient. The secret ingredient is called, so bu chamine sobut. Chamine is an analog of vitamin B one. Now, benfotiamine is also an analog of vitamin B one, so there's two forms of B one in here. And if you're not that familiar with B one, you might be. , what's the deal? Why would you have two different B one s in there?
What, what does even B one matter? Well, interestingly, it matters a lot, uh, back in the day in Japan where white rice is a staple now, it used to be brown rice because, well, that's what we always ate before we figured out how to make wri white rice and. When white rice became the more popular dish, just like here in America, it did, um, around the same [00:16:00] time that wheat bread was going away and white bread was popping up, you know, from the wonder years, uh, as they call 'em.
So we had this thing happening over in Japan and uh, it was a problem in the brain where people were dealing with all kinds of different, uh, levels. brain fog, anxiety, depression that they'd never dealt with before. And what they determined was that a lot of these people were severely vitamin B one deficient.
And when they were, uh, when they got the, when they enriched the flour and enriched the rice with vitamin B one, which is known as thyman, then what happened was a lot of. We're fine. They did okay with the added thymine, but thymine on its own doesn't cross the blood-brain barrier and Sobut does. So some people were still struggling with it.
Interestingly enough, in Asia primarily, sobut is a, I would say a relatively common. [00:17:00] Nutrient, uh, that you can find over there, but it is hard to find in America. It's hard for me to find to put into my multivitamin in America. In fact, I have over 4,500 different supplements at Vitality Nutrition. And only two of them have sobut in them, and they're both formulas I developed.
Nobody's using this stuff and I think it's a big mistake. The stuff is awesome. In the clinical studies, they've actually been able to prove that it is about half as effective as an energizing agent. As caffeine, but it's not a central service or central nervous system. Um, stimulant like caffeine is, uh, it is not a product that you even have to worry about any kind of addictive properties like you do with caffeine.
It's not something that you have to worry about crashing on like you do with caffeine. You know, you take it and you feel pretty good for a couple hours and then it wears off and it's like, oh man, where's my next cup of caffeine? Right. , it's not like that. In fact, it has a [00:18:00] quite a long half-life. And so if you take the Ultimate Vitality multi in the morning, what you'll often find is that you will get a nice, steady level of energy that is not wiring or jittery at all.
And it's not as strong as caffeine. So like I say, there's no feelings of. Overstimulation and most people don't have any problems with it at all. In fact, I really never have anybody report problems with it and that sobut timing, which I've combined with a wide variety of adaptogenic herbs, and I'm gonna do a show, or at least a partial show on adaptogens cuz I love that topic.
These are herbs that have been used for millennia in all kinds of different cultures, and I often wonder about. because we are considered the big, you know, melting pot, right? We have black and white and, and every color [00:19:00] in between from all kinds of different, uh, cultures and all kinds of different parts of the world that have come to America for the American dream and what we've lost in that, among many things, I think.
The cultural traditions of herbalism from these places. We don't use much green tea over here, at least not like they do in Japan. We don't use a lot of maka over here like they do in Peru. Uh, we don't use a lot of different things, ma uh, like they do in Brazil and Jensen, like they do in China and Korea and so on and so on and so on.
And it's not like they aren't here, right? You've probably heard of most of those things and maybe you've even tried some of them, but they aren't like the day in, day out things that we use or that that are used in other areas of the world. And I'm not sure why that is, but. These things are in use for 5,000 plus years for a reason They [00:20:00] work.
And these adaptogens that are in the Ultimate Vitality multi along with the, so timing, along with the methylated B vitamins, really pack a punch. And we have had so much fun with the feedback that we get from the Ultimate Vitality multivitamin. Okay. So that's, uh, number four. And I, I rambled a little bit there, but I, I just, I don't know off the cuff you needed to know about soy timing.
And soy timing is cool stuff. So, uh, if you have questions, of course you can call us at Vitality and ask. The last one is magnesium Now. I think topic number one on the things that make me go ug uh, this Saturday is going to be magnesium and this really strange marketing propaganda thing that's happening out there where people are saying Your body requires seven different kinds of magnesium.
That's not true. I'll explain what I mean on that. This [00:21:00] coming Saturday, what I have determined is that what is true is that the most bioavailable form of magnesium, at least as far as I can tell, looking at the actual research that's been done is called magnesium. Bisg glycinate now because most people have never heard of bis glycinate.
Uh, we call ours Magnesium glycinate Vital five Magnesium Glycinate, and it is a three capsule a day to give you 400 milligrams of magnesium glycinate in the most bioavailable form that can be taken. And if you're wanting to use it for kids, there is even a fantastic powder of magnesium bis glycinate made by natural factors.
That I absolutely love as well. So if you can't do the capsules, the powder works really, really well, but the capsules are certainly easier as long as you can swallow them. And so that's the, the vital five. Now, not everybody needs all five every day, but I think most people, if, if they would [00:22:00] just, you know, if they, if you weren't taking any supplements at all, maybe you'd never even considered taking a supplement and you stumbled across this crazy radio show called Vitality Radio.
and you heard this and you decided, you know what? I'm just gonna see what happens. I'm gonna dip my toes in to the vital five. Oh my. I think you might be blown away at how big of an impact they make. So that's question number one. And the answer of course, if you have specific needs outside of the, you know, the basic deficiencies that most of us are dealing with, and there are a variety of supplements to.
Fill those needs as well. But that's not what this show is about. Let's talk about this rampant uptick in something called shingles. If you're familiar with shingles and, and this show is not the show where I'm gonna explain exactly what all these conditions are, where they come from or any of that, it's more just, here's the question and here's how I answer it.
And remember, please, that I'm not a doctor. In fact, I have these sweet. [00:23:00] Customers that I just love, uh, that have come in and, and visited with me many, many times over the years at Vitality, nutrition, and, uh, the gentleman. Should we call you Dr. Jared? And I said, no, no. I've got a reputation to uphold. So what I meant, well, you can figure out what I meant by that.
But anyway, uh, I'm not your doctor and I don't wanna be your doctor. I don't even wanna pretend to be your doctor if you have questions about medical advice that is needed. Um, in America, we do that legally through talking to our doctors and others are not supposed to discuss those things. When I give you my recommendations, it's not as a doctor or a health professional of any kind, and they are not to be considered medical advice, so keep that in mind.
Shingles though, man. Oh man. I've been working in a health food store all the live long day, 45 years since that shop opened. Vitality, nutrition, and Bountiful. And in all of that [00:24:00] time, Barely knew what shingles was the first 20 years of that. Hardly ever heard it and then started hearing it quite a bit, uh, about 25 years ago-ish, but not a lot.
I mean, maybe a couple times, a few times a year, four or five times a year. I don't know. I don't, I haven't tracked it. And then suddenly in the last three. I hear about it all the time. It's not daily, but it's close. There's so many people coming in to Vitality, nutrition, sending me messages on Instagram or wherever else, and saying, Jared, what can I do for shingles?
And. I, I, I'm gonna let you draw your own conclusions on why shingles might be running rampant right now. But, uh, you know, we had this big immune scare over the last couple of years, and then we had this big fancy thing that they said everybody should take, and then wanted to force us all to take for the purposes of fixing this scary immune thing.
And then of course, it didn't fix [00:25:00] anything at all, and it didn't prevent it, and it didn't prevent it from spreading. It didn't do anything except for make people more susceptible to it, among other things. And around that same time, I had a lot more people coming in asking for stuff for shingles. I had a lot more people coming in asking for stuff for neuropathy, and holy cow did I have a lot more people coming and asking for things for brain fog.
And so in 2022, for the first time in 45 years of running a health food store, those three hit the top 10 questions that I. At Vitality Nutrition. So again, you can draw your own conclusions there. I may even rant a little bit more about that on Saturday and the things that make me go UG episode. But let's talk about what I believe is the best to support your body when you're dealing with shingles.
First off, shingles impacts the body in very. unique and incredibly uncomfortable ways. Thankfully, I've never experienced it, but I've never met anybody that said that it was a [00:26:00] party. And if you've experienced it, you know what I'm talking about. Of course, shingles is a version of the herpes virus, uh, that, uh, bounces up and creates everything from cold sores to, to uh, uh, rashes.
Pain beneath the surface of the skin, upon the surface of the skin. And, uh, it is a bear to deal with and it's not particularly easy to treat either. And doctors, from what I've been able to see, don't have great success with the options that they have. But what I've found is that if you can just get the body into better balance so that the immune system can do its thing and the central nervous.
Which is under attack, it seems, based on the symptomology of Shing. If you can get those two things lined up and functioning well, then you can, uh, get some significant relief and really improve your outlook when it comes to shingles. So vitamin B complex is a big deal, [00:27:00] particularly the methylated bees. I just talked about 'em in the multivitamin, so I won't rehash that too much, but you can get one.
I've got one called the active be complex from, um, natural factors that I. Or the Ultimate Vitality multi is a good methylated B complex as well. Another source of methylated B complex is the anxiety release formula from, um, neurological nutrition, which is another formula that, uh, I developed. That's more recent, but that we've been getting some really cool feedback on as well.
But the methylated B complex is nourishing to the central nervous system and plays a big, big role there. Lycine l Lycine, the amino acid has actually some pretty cool clinical studies that have shown that it, uh, has an impact on that particular viral. Um, infection and at 1500 to 3000 milligrams a day seems to be the dose that is an effective dose optimally on an empty stomach.
Uh, with the B complex. I [00:28:00] forgot to mention dosing, but most people take about three of those. Be complex per day, uh, when they're dealing with that. Vitamin C is a major player because it is one of the most powerful immune enhancing things, and it plays a big role in the nervous system. And in response to this big, scary immune thing that we've all talked about for the last three years, um, I developed vital C Vital C.
The best forms of vitamin C. They're the non-acidic forms, what they call the ascorbate forms. It also has zinc, which has a great immune enhancing benefit, and it has all of leaf extract, which actually has very good clinical trials and studies showing that it's antiviral and antibacterial as well. So, vital C at uh, about, uh, Two capsules.
You're not gonna like to hear this two capsules about six times a day. If you're dealing with that, seems to be the dose. Um, that's about 6,000 milligrams of vitamin C a day. I also have had really good success with colloidal silver. Um, can be [00:29:00] topically as a gel as well as internally as a liquid, um, at about six times a day as well.
These are things. I've seen some results with and some success with, uh, with people that have talked to me who have tried them. And then I'm gonna mention, I'm gonna jump back to Benfotiamine now to not get these two confused. I mentioned Sobut and its energizing effects and all the other stuff. When I was talking about Vitality Multivitamin, the Ultimate Vitality multi.
But Benfotiamine is kind of like its cousin or sister, I guess it's also a vitamin B one, but you know, there are really good studies that support the Benfotiamine specifically is effective for neuropathy and for any kind of neuropathic pain, uh, which would also be the type of pain that many people experience with shingles as well as diabetes, uh, and fibromyalgia.
and anxiety and sciatica pain and even [00:30:00] thyroid imbalance and back pain. So Benin, which is in the Ultimate Vitality multi, it's in the anxiety release, but unfortunately is not in the active B complex is another one that you can consider adding in. Um, if you are struggling with this and if you're not dealing with Shing, You know, thank the good Lord.
Above that you're not. Uh, but uh, maybe write those things down, uh, just in case it ever creeps up. Cuz you're gonna want to know exactly what to do to support your body while it's fighting that nasty little thing off. All right, next topic is neuropathy. And I put these back to back because they have a lot in common.
Um, I also recommend the act be complex and I absolutely re. Benfotiamine. Uh, again, for neuropathy, it may be the single best ingredient I've seen for both diabetic and non-diabetic neuropathy, as it is really, really incredible for the central nervous system. And when you're [00:31:00] under a lot of neuropathic stress, then you tend to burn through a lot more.
Magnesium and a lot more of the B vitamins, including benfotiamine. And why would you want Benfotiamine over thiamine, which is regular B one? Because the bioavailability is dramatically higher. It just simply works much, much better. Uh, we haven't had a lot of success with just B one for these things, but since become a avail became available on the market and we've been carrying it for the last seven or eight years or something like that at Vitality, we've seen excellent results with that.
There's also a formula. made right here in Utah, actually called Nerve Reverse that I love. It's loaded with Bim Fatim. It also has a bunch of alpha lipoic acid in it, which is another one of the key core ingredients for neuropathy and, and honestly haven't had a lot of feedback on it, but alpha lipoic acid.
Probably makes sense for shingles as well and could be worth a try. It's a [00:32:00] powerful antioxidant. It is phenomenal for blood sugar imbalances. A lot of diabetics use alpha lipoic acid, but it also really, really does work, uh, for neuropathic pain. And the nerve reverse formula, uh, rolls a lot of that stuff into one formula.
So I like that one a lot. And then topically and internally, but especially topically, we've had very, very good results with the nerve reverse. Uh, which can be used along with the nerve rev reverse capsules, and also C B D C B D, which because of the crazy laws nationwide with C B D, it's a little bit tough to, um, it's hard to find at vitality.
Because it's not on vitality nutrition.com, but there are CBDs topicals as well as internals that are available at Vitality Nutrition. You just have to call us. So if you're not in the store or you're not in the state, sorry, in Utah where we are, uh, you can call us and get CBD at our phone. Number [00:33:00] (801) 292-6662 is the.
All right, so that's, I think that covers neuropathy pretty well. Let's jump into arthritis now. Arthritis is an interesting one. There are a lot of different potential remedies that can be used, and I love a lot of 'em. They, they work well for a lot of different people, but. Eight or nine years ago now, I'm not really sure.
Maybe it's been nine years, might be close to a decade. Anyway, um, I discovered something called Baxil. Now if you've listened to a lot of my shows, you've heard me talk about a lot of these things, and I apologize for that. But hopefully it's a good refresher for you. Or you can share this with someone else who needs it.
But Baxil is a Hy Lanin, which is related to hyaluronic acid. As we age, our joints stop secreting as much hyaluronic acid and hyaluronic acid can be looked at like the motor oil, uh, in [00:34:00] your car, but for your joints to basically lubricate and keep things moving smoothly as our joints are beat up.
Exercise, old age, uh, you know, injury, all that kind of stuff. We start to get a little bit of fragmentation or breakdown of the cartilage and arthritis starts to form. Then we get a lot more dryness in the tissues, uh, in and around the joint, and that can create a lot of friction, which can then, of course create a lot of discomfort and inflammation and pain.
And Baxil is so cool because it works. On the front end and the back end, as I like to say, the front end because it does lubricate, it helps a lot of people with mobility and discomfort, but also on the back end it is actually supporting the joint and hopefully helping with a reduction of continued degradation of that tissue so that the arthritis, which is typically.
Degenerative and getting worse with age and [00:35:00] time, um, becomes less, uh, concerning as far as the degradation because we're keeping the joints lubricated. Now, I have to tell you, the studies on Baxil show that about 84% of people get great results, and for whatever reason, 16% don't. Nobody knows why. That's just what the studies.
and I'd say that's pretty close to what I hear at Vitality and Nutrition is that, you know, about one or two out of every 10 people that we sell it to don't get the results that we hoped they would, but almost everybody else does. And so that is something to keep in mind. And if you'd use Baxil and it doesn't do the job.
Then there are other alternatives, but that is my first go-to. The next one is probably collagen. Now collagen is kind of akin to the baxil. In fact, there's a great collagen that I love called Total Body Collagen from Natural Factors. Oh, and by the way, I never spell this and nobody can ever [00:36:00] spell it when they hear it on the radio.
Baxil is b a x. Y L B A X Y L, and it is available on our website as well as in the store. Um, collagen, the total body collagen for natural factors has some hyaluronic acid in it, which can help, but the baxil is a much more superior form of hyaluronic acid. But the collagen is awesome because there's all the, there's just this wide range of benefits.
You get the benefit of, uh, helping with the joints because coll. Is the protein that our body makes all the soft tissue out of. And when you take it as collagen, as opposed to as protein, and then try and make collagen from it, it's a lot more efficient and therefore you end up with a lot more benefit.
But it's also great for all the soft tissue, hair, skin, nails. I rarely have somebody, particularly women who are really paying more attention to this, in most cases, that take collagen and don't notice that their nails are much stronger, less ridges, less bra, uh, bra. Cracking, um, chipping, peeling, you know, all that sort [00:37:00] of thing.
Uh, also for the skin and for better hair growth. Collagen is phenomenal. And as I discussed with Carl Germano on last week's episode on Saturday when we talked about the gut-brain bone connection, which you have, if you did not hear that. You really need to listen to it. It's a good one. I loved that interview, but he talked about collagen and how powerful it is for the bones.
It is really good, good stuff. And part of the reason it's so powerful for the bones is because it's excellent for the gut. It has clinical, uh, evidence showing that it helps to repair and strengthen gut tissue, uh, leaky gut, things like that. And if you can get your gut. That helps keep your bones stronger as well.
So collagen with baxil is even a better, bigger powerhouse. So I love that. Now both of those are more, you know, kind of root cause answers, which is really what I'm always looking for. Can we get, you know, behind the scenes and see what's going on and fix it there as opposed to [00:38:00] focusing on our symptoms However, arthritis hurts.
So if you need some root cause and you're trying to get stuff to work better. in the background, but you also want some relief. Well, Baxil gives a relief for a lot of people. Collagen does too, but they're a little bit slower. And C, b, D, uh, as I mentioned before, which of course again is not available on our website cuz of the silly stuff, but you can call us and we can ship it to you wherever you're at.
Um, or you can come in a course and get it locally if you're in Utah. and C B D topically for arthritis is fantastic. It really does help to reduce pain and discomfort and inflammation, and internally it's a powerful anti-inflammatory as well. And then lastly, and certainly not least, but it is usually the next one I recommend if people aren't having as good a results as they want to from these other things, would be a very specific type of turmeric called.
Cured. [00:39:00] Cured is my favorite of all the turmerics out there. Uh, this stuff is, um, it just has the best research. There's great turmeric, a lot of good ones. There's one called c3. There's another one called Marva. These are good, uh, turmerics, another one called Thera Curin. So there are good cur turmerics out there, but most turmeric is just basic turmeric cured is much, much more efficient.
and I recommend typically the 375 milligram twice a day. Also, I just realized I did not give you recommendations on dosages of these other things, so let's talk about that. With C B D, it's very wise to get at least 30 milligrams a day. Typically 15 milligrams at night, 15 milligrams in the morning. But I more and more, I'm seeing people need more than that, so maybe 30 milligrams in the morning, 30 milligrams at night.
Some people take even more. It's very safe to experi. With C, b, D, you just have to kind of see what your body does with it, and then the topicals easier. You just rub it on the spot that hurts. Um, the [00:40:00] cure, like I say, I like the 3 75 milligram best twice a day, one in the morning, one at night. Collagen, I like to get at least 10 grams a day of collagen.
You can certainly take more and I think the best time to take collagen is at bedtime. It's also great post-workout cuz it's great for muscle recovery, but at bedtime, uh, To sit in there and help with balancing blood sugar. That's one of the things that it does at bedtime. There's even some studies showing that collagen can help with weight loss overnight, helps with muscle recovery, which we need to do while we're sleeping.
And, um, it, uh, just. Seems to work really, really well at night. There's some quite good studies on that. And then the biatta amine, I typically am recommending about 300 milligrams a day, and you can divide that up, uh, in experiment a little bit with the dose or with the nerve reverse. Um, one capsule in the morning and one capsule at night seems to be the effective dose there.
And with the baxil. Uh, if you get a bottle of axle, just do exactly what it says [00:41:00] on the label. It's a teaspoon, it's a liquid teaspoon in the morning, teaspoon at night for seven days, and then a half a teaspoon, uh, every morning and every night. After that. Do that for 30 days. If it doesn't work, uh, then you can consider moving on to, like I say, the collagen, the cbd, the curad, and.
Let's talk about brain fog a little bit, and I'm gonna share something I'm really excited about. One thing that's really cool, I recently hired somebody who was a listener and has become my personal assistant. She would be the one if you decided you wanted to have an appointment with me, uh, to talk about, uh, some of your, uh, you know, supplement needs.
You would reach out to Jessica. Uh, Jessica Vitality nutrition.net is the email address. But when I hired Jessica, one of the biggest reasons was because I have a really challenging time keeping up with my schedule, with my calendar, and with booking guests on Vitality Radio and also, Being booked on other people's podcasts because I just can't talk enough about [00:42:00] this stuff and I can't talk to enough smart people about this stuff.
And she has me lined up for like the next, uh, in the next three weeks, I think I have maybe five or six or seven interviews with amazing people. Really, really great guests. She's doing a fantastic job and one. That I haven't even told her about yet, that I'm really excited about is I just got, uh, permission again to reach out to Dr.
Dale Bredesen. Dr. Dale Bredesen is the world's leading researcher on Alzheimer's disease. He wrote a book called The End of Alzheimer's, which I highly recommend if you have it or if you're trying to prevent it. Uh, Probably need, should be all of us. Uh, if you don't have it, we ought to be trying to prevent it.
But a great book and, uh, he's got some new research that I'm gonna talk to him about and that is really exciting. In fact, he's just released a new formula through a company called Life Seasons that is a, um, an upgrade. A [00:43:00] higher potency version of something called Neuro Q. Now, Dr. Bredesen's been on my show twice.
If you wanna listen to those episodes, they'll be linked in the uh, show notes and description below on your podcast app. If you're listening on the podcast and. I would recommend both of those shows. They were both huge hits for me. People absolutely loved listening to that show, and I got so many questions and positive comments, but I'm gonna hit him up in the next few months and we're gonna talk about something brand new that he's adding to the Neuro Q formula.
So now there's a Neuro Q, which is routinely in our top 10 or 15 products at Vitality Nutrition. People love this product for brain fog, for focus, for, uh, memory. You know, why did I walk in? That room just now. What I knew I had a reason, but now that I'm here, I don't know what it is. You know, what's that guy's name?
Any of those types of things that you might be struggling with. Neuro Q has been a godsend for many, many people, but now there's a brand new [00:44:00] extra strength neuro cue that we are just getting it Vitality this week. Uh, and uh, it's got an additional ingredient called Hooper Zine a in it. You may have heard about it.
It's a somewhat well known Neutropic, uh, but. Dr. Bredesen is a big enough believer that he's decided to add it to the Neuro Q and now, uh, that's coming and we'll talk about that in depth when Dr. Bredesen's on the show. But Neuro Q and Mag Teen, um, are two of the best things I've ever seen for brain fog and that sort of things.
So let's talk a little bit about that. Neuro Q is a combination of herbs. Magine is a type of magnesium and I get a lot of confusion on this, and if you really do get confused on magnesium, which it'd be easy to do cuz the marketing on it is frankly pretty darn confusing. Then I would recommend my episode called the Magnesium Users Guide, which will also be linked at the bottom of this episode.
A lot of what I talk about here, I've talked in [00:45:00] more detail on previous episodes, but Magne is a type of magnesium that's bonded to an amino acid called L three and. L three and eight itself has some benefits, but three and eight with magnesium seems to allow the magnesium to cross the blood-brain barrier much more efficiently and therefore gets more magnesium into the brain.
And they've been able to prove a few things with the use of magnesium three and eight. One is that it does cross the blood brain barrier and that it dumps magnesium directly into the cerebral spinal. Fluid, that's a big deal because magnesium works directly in the nervous system, uh, and it calms the nervous system.
And what they've found is that in as little as 12 days on Magne, you are able to start seeing improved learning, uh, improved memory and improved focus. And those studies have not just been done on rats, but also on human beings. [00:46:00] And, uh, Magine is, is really a unique form of magnesium. But I wanna mention this, and I believe I did talk about this in detail on the Magnesium users guide, but I'll give you just a brief little, um, synopsis of that here.
And that is that I mentioned magnesium glycinate or magnesium bis glycinate at the top of the show. I truly do believe that for most people, that is the best form of magnesium that you can use. But if you are dealing with a lot of cognitive things that you're concerned about and you wanna make sure there's more magnesium getting into the brain, then magnesium three and eight with magnesium glycinate makes really good sense.
I actually use both. I don't do a full dose of each. I do about a half dose of each to get all the magnesium that I need, but also to make sure there's more getting to my brain. , I don't deal so much with, um, you know, I'm not concerned about dementia or Alzheimer's, other than I want to prevent those things.
Uh, but focus is a major factor for me. And short-term memory is a struggle for [00:47:00] me. I struggle in both of those areas. So I shouldn't say I'm not concerned. I am concerned. But, um, you know, not to the point of dementia just yet. Hopefully never. But what I found is when I take the neuro. And when I take the magne, which, uh, my favorite brand of the magne currently is by Cal, k a l.
It's called Think Magnesium. I really, really like that product. It's just, uh, two a day or even one a day. If you're taking it with a magnesium glycinate, uh, then that combination works really well. And the only reason I don't recommend Magne for all of your magnesium is that it's significantly more expensive than magnesium glycinate.
And it's actually a lot. Potent. And so you need to take like six. Well, what do you need to. Yeah, almost six pills a day of the Think Magnesium to get your full dose of magnesium. But you can take a couple of pills of the magnesium BIS glycinate from Vital five and one or two pills of the Magne, uh, in the Think Magnesium.
And that combination works really, really well because you get. All [00:48:00] of the magnesium benefits along in the body, along with all of the magnesium benefits in the brain. So for brain fog, that combination is excellent along with omega three s, which are big for brain inflammation and do seem to help with cognitive function as well.
Okay, so let me just answer one last kind of, uh, side question since I am running out of time here. I think I probably will do a part three. I don't know if it'll be next week, cause I've got a bunch of really exciting guests lined up as I just talked about, uh, that I can't wait to get to, but, , I, I think I will do a part three probably in the next few weeks.
Uh, and, uh, you know, hey, let me know, you know, jump on Instagram and let me know if you like this episode. If you like the first one, episode 2 95, uh, tell us at Vitality Nutrition. Tell us in the Facebook listener's community if you're in there. Um, and if you want a part three, and I'll do a part three. So one of the questions I [00:49:00] get asked, in fact, this one was kind of funny to me.
Um, On Instagram was someone saying, do you have all of the Vital five in one pill? And my initial thought was, you know, How big a pill can you swallow? One of the questions that people ask a lot is, why can't I get all of this in one pill? Why do I have to take so many pills? Where with pharmaceuticals, in many cases, we're taking very small little pills, uh, depending on what we're taking, right?
Like an ibuprofen pill is 200 milligrams, and the max dose per dose is supposed to be 800 milligrams. Well, you can fit 800 milligram. one pill if you get the prescription form right. Um, and lots and lots of other examples of that that are little tiny pills. Well, they're able to make pharmaceuticals very, very small in many cases, and give you a very small dose that packs a real wall.
But what we're talking about in nutrition for the most part is. nutrients that you just simply [00:50:00] need volume of. Like with the Omega-3, the Ultra Rx Omega, I recommend two a day, which gives you 2,150 milligrams of omega-3. And we know that 2,150 milligrams of omega-3 is a really good dose for most of the reasons that we would use fish oil, inflammation, cardiovascular wellness, uh, brain health, mental focus, and all of those types of things.
Magnesium, magnes. Real confusing to a lot of people because I recommend about 400 milligrams a day, and it seems like you could fit 400 milligrams of most things into a tablet, which you could, but magnesium is bonded in the case of magnesium glycinate to magnesium or to the amino acid glycine. So then that's that bond is what makes magnesium glycinate, and believe it or not, about 80% of.
Material is not magnesium, it's actually glycine, and so it just [00:51:00] simply takes up a ton of space in a pill, and that's why you have to take three of those. When you look at a multivitamin like the Ultimate Vitality multi. If you wanna pack a big punch with all of the nutrition that you need, you just don't do it in one a day.
In fact, that might be one of the biggest fallacies of, uh, marketing when it comes to nutrition that I've ever heard, and that is that a one a day vitamin is gonna give you enough nutrition to cover all the bases. I have an episode of Vitality Radio called Centrum Sucks and I believe that, and part of it is cuz it's a one a day.
Most of it is cuz it's, Tablet filled with a bunch of crap that your body can't use very well anyway, and a bunch of other crap that isn't even nutrition that's really bad for the body. So that's a side note, but if you wanna hear that rant, I do a whole show on it, , and we'll link that below as well. But, uh, one a day just isn't enough for most multivitamins to give you the, you know, [00:52:00] more optimal levels of the nutrients that you need.
And in the case of vitality, uh, the Ultimate Vitality multi. If you wanna get that sobi timing and all those adaptogenic herbs and the herbs that help to detoxify the liver, lymph, and kidneys, then yeah, you're not getting it in one capsule. It's, uh, three capsules a day. So if, I hope that helps to at least, you know, clarify some of that for people that are a little bit newer to supplements or haven't ever quite understood that it can get a little overwhelming to take a bunch of different pills and where.
For sure we're putting as much as we can in as few pills as we can to give you the best results with the least amount of capsules and the least amount of cost, um, that you can, uh, the least amount of money that you can spend on these things. But, Quality and potency matter above all else. And therefore, in some cases the prices will be a little bit higher, uh, than something like a Centrum or an emergency or something like that.
Uh, but what you end up [00:53:00] with is a better quality product and if the size bothers you in terms of how many. Pills you've got to take. Unfortunately. It's just kind of the nature of the beast. All right, I hope that was helpful. Please call us if you have questions. 8 0 1 2 9 2 66 62.
