Quiet Quitting has captured plenty of headlines lately, but the behavior has been in place for much longer. It’s when workers fulfill the requirements of the job description—but no more. Many ask, ‘why should I?’
There’s no smoke without a fire. Organizations need to figure it out—especially since it’s been going on without a name for at least a year. New Gallup research says at least half of American workers are quiet quitting. Half.
There’s Quiet Quitting and then there is just plain being ‘disengaged’ with work. Those actively disengaged was 18% in the 2nd quarter—the highest in nearly a decade. The fastest rise is with workers under 35.
