Today, we are going to talk numbers, but today’s numbers are all Guinness World Records. Guinness World Records shows the most amazing and crazy things people can do. People around the world try to do special things — like jump the highest or eat the fastest. Guinness World Records writes down the best of these! These records are real and often include big numbers! Let’s look at some real records — with real numbers, and play a game guessing which Guiness World Record it is! Are you ready? Let’s go!
1 – The smallest number. Only one of these world records is real with the number 1. Which one is it?
A. The fastest time to eat 1 slice of pizza is 3 seconds.
B. A man ate 1 pea with chopsticks in 7.9 seconds.
C. The longest time to balance a spoon on a nose is 20 minutes.
Answer is B – picking up 1 pea with chopsticks!
Now, which one of these is a real Guinness World Record with the number 51?
A. A man balanced 51 eggs on his head for 1 minute.
B. A woman typed 51 words with her nose in 30 seconds.
C. A man put on 51 T-shirts in one minute.
The correct answer is 51 T-shirts in one minute — and yes, that’s an official Guinness World Record!
Now, the number 109 – Only one of these is a real world record. Can you guess which one?
A. A parrot said 109 words in one minute.
B. A dog performed 109 rope jumps in a minute.
C. A child stacked 109 blocks in 30 seconds.
Letter B is correct. A dog performed 109 rope jumps in one minute — with its owner! That’s a real Guinness World Record from Japan.
Okay. The number 200 – Which one is a world record?
A. A man solved 200 math problems in one minute.
B. A Lego car was built with 200 pieces in 1 minute and 47 seconds. C. A woman drank 200 cups of coffee in one day.
The correct answer - B. How fast can you build a Lego car with 200 pieces? Less than 2 minutes?
Now try the number 437. Which one of these is a real Guinness World Record?
A. Two boys made 437 basketball passes in one minute.
B. A boy did 437 jumping jacks in one minute.
C. A singer sang 437 words in 30 seconds.
Which letter is correct? Its letter A is correct - A boy in the USA made 437 basketball passes in one minute — with a friend. That’s over 7 passes per second!
And finally the number 500. Only one of these is a real Guinness World Record. Which one is it?
A. 500 students danced with hula hoops at the same time.
B. A man read 500 books in one year.
C. A woman ran 500 meters in high heel shoes in under 2 minutes.
And it’s letter A again - A school in India set a record. 500 students danced together with hula hoops. That’s a lot of spinning!
Now, numbers can be fun — and world records make them exciting!
