Hebrews 11: 20-21
A weekday morning devotional series written by Aaron Marcarelli and hosted by Chad McBeam
“By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau, even regarding things to come. By faith Jacob, as he was dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph, and worshiped, leaning on the top of his staff.”
Hebrews 11:20-21 NASB2020
God has done so much for us, not the least of which is Christ sacrifice and resurrection. We forget so quickly.
The disciples were quick to doubt. Peter Within seconds of walking on water cry’s out to God
“save me Lord” and “Immediately Jesus reached out with His hand and took hold of him, and *said to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?”
Matthew 14:31
Then very shortly after the feeding of the 5,000 the disciples were complaining about not having enough food.
“But Jesus, aware of this, said, “You men of little faith, why are you discussing among yourselves the fact that you have no bread?”
Matthew 16:8
The writer of Hebrews, with this list shows us we don’t have to be perfect for God to use us. We just have to have faith and open our hearts. How much more do we have to be thankful for. Because we know that God has fulfilled the promise of Messiah.
It reminds me of the 70 and 80’s worship song about trusting in chariots. It’s from Psalms: “I know that the Lord saves His anointed; He will answer him from His holy heaven With the saving strength of His right hand. Some praise their chariots and some their horses, But we will praise the name of the Lord, our God.”
Psalms 20:6-7
That is what Abraham, Isaac and Jacob did, even in their despair, calamities and disobedience they trusted in God and his promises and forgiveness and God used them.
Our God is amazing and His forgiveness is forever and His promises are perfect. Let us have faith to rest in His perfect and pleasing will.
Lord we thank you for your forgiveness and promises. We trust in you! We rest in you! Help us to have the faith of a mustard seed so you can move mountains through us and the power of the Holy Spirit. We pray these things in Jesus name. Amen.
Shalom Blessings and Press In and Press On!
