(2:44) Moshe Repeats Torah to Harness the Land's Special Siyata

AI-Generated Summary (AI can be inaccurate. Check important information):

The shiur explores the transformative spiritual influence of the Land of Israel on one's intellectual and internal grasp of Torah. Drawing on the personal testimony of Rav Dessler and other Gedolim, it explains that the principle of Avira Dโ€™Eretz Yisrael Machkim provides a unique level of divine assistance and wisdom that is unattainable elsewhere. The Panim Yafot applies this concept to Sefer Devarim, suggesting that Moshe Rabbeinu repeated the Torah at the borders of Israel specifically because the Landโ€™s sanctity allowed Bnei Yisrael to internalize the commandments with a newfound depth and clarity.

1. Transformative power of Eretz Yisrael โ€” Learning Torah in the Land of Israel provides a unique Siyata D'shmaya that deepens one's connection and understanding beyond what is possible elsewhere.
2. Personal testimony of Rav Dessler โ€” In his work Michtav Me'eliyahu, the Rav describes how moving to Eretz Yisrael fundamentally changed his experience of Mussar and intellectual study.
3. The air makes one wise โ€” The principle of Avira D'Eretz Yisrael Machkim is not merely theoretical; it represents a tangible increase in wisdom and clarity granted by HaKadosh Baruch Hu.
4. Superiority of Israeli Torah โ€” Great figures like Rav Nachman of Breslov and the Chazon Ish considered the Torah they produced in Israel to be their primary and most essential work.
5. Sanctity of Arvot Moav โ€” The Panim Yafot explains that the place where Moshe Rabbeinu began Sefer Devarim already possessed the Kedushah of the Land due to the promise made to Avraham Avinu.
6. Purpose of Sefer Devarim โ€” The repetition of the Torah in Sefer Devarim was necessary because the arrival at the borders of the Land allowed for a deeper, more Pnimiyus level of absorption.

In the ืกืคืจ ืžื›ืชื‘ ืžืืœื™ื”ื•,

in ื—ืœืง ื’ืณ,

the third volume of ืžื›ืชื‘ ืžืืœื™ื”ื•,

Rav Dessler starts describing his own personal journey,

moving to ืืจืฅ ื™ืฉืจืืœ and starting to learning and teaching ืชื•ืจื” in ืืจืฅ ื™ืฉืจืืœ.

And he writes there,

it's in ื—ืœืง ื’ืณ

page 194.

And he writes there that he experienced when he came to Israel something that

he wouldn't have expected to happen.

He'd always learned ืžื•ืกืจ.

He learned ืžื•ืกืจ in Kelm,

he learned ืžื•ืกืจ in England.

He said,

but when he started learning ืžื•ืกืจ in ืืจืฅ ื™ืฉืจืืœ,

he writes that the arousing of his heart,

the connection to the ืžื•ืกืจ that he felt,

and the effect the ืชื•ืจื” had on him,

he felt affected him in a deeper way than he'd ever experienced before.

And he says that not only the ืžื•ืกืจ,

but even the regular learning of his learning of ืชื•ืจื”,

he felt a special

And he's trying to understand where did it come from?

And he said,

okay,

I know the sources.

I know what ื—ื–ืดืœ say in the ืกืคืจื™ where they say ืื™ืŸ ืชื•ืจื” ื›ืชื•ืจืช

ืืจืฅ ื™ืฉืจืืœ.

And he said,

I know what the ื’ืžืจื says in ื‘ื‘ื ื‘ืชืจื where it says that ืื•ื™ืจื

I know those sources,

but I didn't know what they meant.

And he writes that but when he came to ืืจืฅ ื™ืฉืจืืœ,

he understood what it meant.

That ืืจืฅ ื™ืฉืจืืœ is the land of ื”ืฉื.

And being the land of ื”ืฉื,

there's a special

It's almost as if ื”ืงื“ื•ืฉ ื‘ืจื•ืš ื”ื•ื was with you and He's guiding you

and He's helping you.

So your mind is able to comprehend and understand at a certain level.

And maybe in ืืจืฅ ื™ืฉืจืืœ you can comprehend and understand the same level,

there's a deeper connection to ื”ืงื“ื•ืฉ ื‘ืจื•ืš ื”ื•ื that comes when you're in ืืจืฅ

ื™ืฉืจืืœ.

It makes you wiser,

it feels close to

Rav Dessler writes about himself that he found that.

And I've heard stories of many ื’ื“ื•ืœื™ื on different sides of the spectrum:

on the one hand Rav Nachman of Breslov,

and on the other hand the ื—ื–ื•ืŸ ืื™ืฉ,

very different worldviews.

Both of them write that the ืชื•ืจื” that they wrote in ืืจืฅ ื™ืฉืจืืœ reached

a deeper level of depth to the point where they regarded their ืชื•ืจื” of

ืืจืฅ ื™ืฉืจืืœ to be their real ืชื•ืจื”,

and the ืชื•ืจื” they'd previously learned and taught to be secondary ืชื•ืจื” based on

the ืชื•ืจื” they'd learned after they'd made their way to ืืจืฅ ื™ืฉืจืืœ.

That's what Rav Dessler tells the story in ื—ืœืง ื’ืณ.

And it connects a lot to something that the ืคื ื™ื ื™ืคื•ืช in the ื‘ืขืœ

ื”ืคืœืื” writes in this week's ืคืจืฉื”.

In this week's

right at the beginning of the ืคืจืฉื”,

when it's describing

And the ืคื ื™ื ื™ืคื•ืช asks like,

why was this so important?

Why did ืžืฉื” ืจื‘ื™ื ื• need,

as they arrived at the ืขื‘ืจ ื”ื™ืจื“ืŸ,

for ืžืฉื” to begin describing and reiterating the many,

many things that were already taught and teach the whole ืชื•ืจื” again?

So he brings the ืžื“ืจืฉ that says that ืขืจื‘ื•ืช ืžื•ืื‘,

in this place where ืžืฉื” ืจื‘ื™ื ื• begins his speech teaching the ืชื•ืจื” to ืขื

ื™ืฉืจืืœ,

it was actually considered like ืืจืฅ ื™ืฉืจืืœ because when ื”ืงื“ื•ืฉ ื‘ืจื•ืš ื”ื•ื promised to

ืื‘ืจื”ื ืื‘ื™ื ื• that He was going to give him the land of ten nations,

one of those lands included ืขืจื‘ื•ืช ืžื•ืื‘.

So it already had

Now,

it's true they still had to conquer and they had to go into that

and conquer,

but as far as the ื”ื‘ื˜ื—ื” was concerned,

as far as the promise was concerned,

they'd already arrived in ืืจืฅ ื™ืฉืจืืœ.

So in the same way as Rav Dessler,

he experienced that when he came to ืืจืฅ ื™ืฉืจืืœ that there was a certain

opening of the heart,

a closeness to ื”ืฉื,

and the ืชื•ืจื” that he learned affected him in a deeper way,

the ืคื ื™ื ื™ืคื•ืช,

who was obviously preceding Rav Dessler,

but writes on the same idea,

he says that that's what happened to ืžืฉื” ืจื‘ื™ื ื• as well.

The ืชื•ืจื” actually finished last week as far as ื”ืงื“ื•ืฉ ื‘ืจื•ืš ื”ื•ื was concerned.

But now entering ืืจืฅ ื™ืฉืจืืœ,

it's almost as if there was a new opportunity of giving of ืชื•ืจื” that

hadn't had the opportunity before.

The land of ืืจืฅ ื™ืฉืจืืœ causes a person to become wise and gives a

person deeper insights in ืชื•ืจื” that had never existed.

So ืžืฉื” ืจื‘ื™ื ื•,

upon arriving at ืืจืฅ ื™ืฉืจืืœ,

the promised ืืจืฅ ื™ืฉืจืืœ,

he was able to absorb and he felt the Jewish people would be able

to absorb and understand the ืชื•ืจื” on much deeper and clearer level than they'd

had the opportunity beforehand.

And therefore ืžืฉื” ืจื‘ื™ื ื• had to repeat the entire ืชื•ืจื”,

and that's what ืกืคืจ ื“ื‘ืจื™ื is,

says the ืคื ื™ื ื™ืคื•ืช,

in order they would be able to absorb ืชื•ืจื” on a deeper and more

ืคื ื™ืžื™ื•ืช way in a place where there's a special ืกื™ืขืชื ื“ืฉืžื™ื of absorbing the

ืชื•ืจื” and feeling close to ื”ืฉื.

Have a wonderful
