Logan: Hi, I'm loving.

This is gaming tech.

Explain.

CJ: The other day, you
were talking about WPD.

What's WPD?

Logan: Words per day, I think.

Okay.

WPD, so think my min
WPD is like a thousand.

A thousand?

I, no, a hundred.

3000, actually.

When did, when was Pokemon released?

Pokemon was originally released in.

If I remember correctly, 1995.

Yeah, way old.

There were only 150 first released.

How old were you when
Pokemon first came out?

Yeah, let's figure it out.

I think I was 8.

Okay first I want to
talk about the system.

So, there was, it's, the first system
Pokemon was ever on I think it was

actually released with, was the Game Boy.

That was Pokemon Red and Blue for
America, and Red and Green for Japan.

It came out first as a video game.

It was released in Japan.

And it The only way you could Play it
really was on the Game Boy and still today

you can only play it on Nintendo consoles.

Is it owned by Nintendo?

a Third of it's owned by Nintendo.

Another third of it's owned by Game Freak.

And another third of it
is owned by Creatures.

You were just

CJ: looking at a Pokemon card there.

Which Pokemon is that?

Logan: That is a Lycanroc Midnight form.

That's why it looks so creepy.

Okay, and

CJ: what Like, you were
referring to something on there.

How do you know who owns a third?

Logan: Because how do I
know who owns a third array?

At the bottom of each Pokemon card
it says, Copyright 2023 Pokemon Dash

Nintendo, Dash Creatures, Dash Game Freak.

that's how you do it, that's
how you know from cards.

And I think cards were
originally also released in 1995.

Along with the games, later
quickly came the cards, actually.

So the

CJ: Pokemon cards came out the

Logan: same year?

Yeah, but they looked
NOTHING like they do now.

they looked sooooo different.

What made them different?

So, what made them different?

Like, the edges were different.

The, like, Pokemon themselves
were mainly different.

And then actually, in every, um,
generation, right now we're in the

ninth generation Scarlet and Violet
there's they add more Pokemon.

And for every generations,
there are two games.

So you have to pick which game
you want to buy, cause each game's

60, which is actually a lot.

So, let's see if I can get them from right
. Top of my head, I've got let's see.

You're gonna list off the generations?

Yeah.

Red and blue.

Alright.

It's red and blue.

Gold and silver..

Generation 1 was actually
just red and blue.

Yellow was an addition.

And yellow and green was Japan only.

Okay.

And blue

CJ: and Generation One was
also known as the Canto.

Logan: Yeah, Cantor, the Cantor
region was generation one because the

Canto had the original 150 Pokemon.

But as you may know, the 151
Pokemon, it's because I think

, they add meuse sometime later.

But originally there was 150
Pokemon, the 150th was MU two, so

now there's 151st, which is mu.

So, and then after Canto was Johto, right?

Yes.

And Johto was Gold and Silver.

. And then after Gold and Silver was

oh, Ruby and Sapphire!

And then after Ruby and Sapphire
Was that black and white?

I can't remember what black and white was.

Ruby and sapphire, so
primal, ground on, primal.

Oh, diamond and pearl!

I forgot about those.

Now they've re released
them in shining pearl.

, in brilliant diamond.

And then, generation five Unova!

That was is that black?

I don't think it's black and white.

Was that black and white?

Yes.

Okay, finally black and white.

Six is that Colossal?

okay Omega Ruby those are the Ruby like
they're they added to some of those games

Like black and white too so X and Y which
was the Colossal region And then after

that, that was on the DS, actually 3DS.

And then Sun and Moon came out.

I think.

And then after Sun and Moon
was Scarlet and Violet.

What about Sword and Shield?

Oh yeah, before, before that
it was Sword and Shield.

I forgot, Sword and Shield,
everybody's favorite.

CJ: Do you like Sword and
Shield more than Scarlet and

Logan: Violet?

I haven't played Soaring Shield once.

Why is it everybody's favorite?

Well Not yours?

It's because, first of all, we own Violet.

Okay.

And second of all , . , Sora
and Violet is like a Go do what

you want, there are three paths.

Take them all, beat
them, you beat all three.

And then you beat the last
little piece, you beat the game.

And then, but, Sword and Shield is
you have to do everything in order.

No matter what.

And Sword and Shield's got way
better graphics and everything.

Another reason why I'm dedicated to
Scarlet and Violet is, I started playing,

Scarlet was the first game I, was
the first Pokemon game I ever played.

So do we have, you said we have Scarlet?

We have Violet.

CJ: We have Violet.

How do you pick between Scarlet and
Violet when you're picking a game?

Logan: Okay, well, when you're picking a
game, it's like, between the two Pokemon,

every game has a legendary Pokemon.

Okay.

So, and some extra features, like.

Actually not every game, Red and
Blue, they had Charizard in the

last place, which are not legendary.

But, how do you pick,
like, Storm and Shield.

Like, do you want Zacian with the
cool storm in his mouth, or Zombizentr

with the shield on his face.

And then there's Hero of Battleformed,
I love Hero of, , Hero of Many Battles

Zamazenta, and then there's the, and
then there's Crown Zamazenta, Crown

Zhaoxian, Hero of Many Battles Zhaoxian.

So basically, you want the sword
Pokemon, or the shield Pokemon.

That's the main difference, that's,
and then another thing is for some of

the other games, it was also like,
some of the gems, if you want to

fight the ghost gem, or the, like,
which one do you want to fight,

the fighting gem or the ghost gem?

If you want the ghost gem,
you have to get shield.

If you want to fight the fighting
gem, you gotta get sword.

And then I think there's
ice, ice gem and rock gem.

. And then like, for Scarlet and
Violet, the only difference was, the

only difference was the professors,
Professor Seda and Professor Turo.

The future Pokemon and the ancient
Pokemon, those are two, those

are another two differences.

Like, you want the future Pokemon,
or do you want the ancient Pokemon?

Like, you can't catch future Pokemon,
Pokemon Scarlet, but you can catch

ancient Pokemon, Pokemon Violet.

And like, Coridon, and then
there's Coridon and Miridon.

Coridon is an ancient Pokémon who just
jumps around and is really cute, kind of.

And Miridon Miridon actually doesn't run.

He uses his jet engines and flies
around, you hover around, and once

you've completed enough of the
Arvin challenges, you can climb and

stuff with both Miridon and Coridon.

But if you If you get Mirrodon, you
can't bring him to Scarlet and ride him.

And if you get Coraline, you can't
bring him to Violet and ride him.

But you can put future Pokemon into
Pokemon Scarlet and ancient Pokemon

You just can't catch them in the games.

And another difference is the
Pokemon you're more likely to catch..

CJ: So, that's the only game that
you've played is Scarlet and Violet.

Logan: Yeah, I've played Scarlet and
Violet but I'm about to play Sword.

I mean, I already have Legendary
and Shield, so I don't, I

traded it through Pokemon Home.

Which is another big thing!

Pokemon Home What is Pokemon Home?

So we, it's, basically,
there are two Pokemon Homes.

Pokemon Home Switch
and Pokemon Home Phone.

And they transfer through each other.

You transfer Pokemon to Pokemon Home from
other Switch games on the Switch version.

On phone version.

You trade Pokemon in, like, the GTS,
like, I want to trade this for that,

and you can take up trade deals.

In the Wonder Box, where you
put Pokemon in, you have no

idea what you're getting out.

And then room trades, which, the
only way that room trades are

really fun, is if you have a premium
plan, , that costs a bunch of money.

Oh.

CJ: So So Pokemon Home is kind of just,
like, your Your own sort of portfolio

of Pokemon that you've collected

Logan: in game.

Basically, except the only way to
get them is you transform your boxes,

transfer boxes into your Pokemon home box.

And with your Pokemon home box, that's
actually how you transfer Pokemon from

Sword to Shield, or Skrull to Violet.

I see.

And then speaking of So, it's kind of the

CJ: same way that you
have cards in real life.

Yeah, and you trade With different
boxes, and then you can trade them.

Can you trade them with other people?

Logan: Yes.

In phone edition only, you can trade
with other people And in Switch there's

no way you can trade between games.

CJ: And, how do you catch
Pokemon in the game?

In Pokemon Home?

Logan: In the Switch game.

In the Switch Pokemon Home?

Yeah.

You

CJ: can't.

Well, I mean like, how
do you catch a Pokemon?

Like,

Logan: how do you even get one?

You have to play the games.

Okay, and when you're playing
the game, how do you catch one?

You toss a Pokeball at it.

You toss a Pokeball?

Yeah.

CJ: So, like, part of the game is you're
just walking around tossing Pokeballs?

Logan: No, you have to,
you have to battle them.

You have to battle Pokemon?

It, it, like, I, I haven't figured out
how to crouch and then throw the Pokeball.

I mean, I used to know how to do it, but
somehow, after not playing Pokemon Scarlet

for five months, and then switching to
Pokemon Violet, over that time frame, I

lost a little, a little bit of knowledge.

From Sword and Shield, you have to
transfer them from the Pokemon Home,

which is actually free, , which is
really good, and it, so that's how

you transfer them, Sword to Violet,
because like, in Pokemon Violet, you can

trade with your friends, but you can't
trade with your Sword friends or your

Shield friends, but you can trade with
your Scarlet friends and your Violet

friends, Like, I battle a friend who
plays Skrullet all the time in Violet.

Speaking of trading, um, one of
the, like, trading started back

when they first released it.

Because how do you trade when
you first release a Game Boy?

You, you got no Wi Fi!

You got no Wi Fi.

But how you do it, you get this really
long cable, you go to your friend's

house, you plug into their Game Boy,
you plug into your Game Boy, you both

go on your Game Boy and you say, Trade.

Trade this Pokemon.

Accept trade.

And then you and your friends traded.

Nah.

And

CJ: do you think it worked well or was it

Logan: buggy or?

It works really well.

It works really well?

Yeah.

Okay.

Because if it was an off brand it
wouldn't have worked well, but because

Nintendo created the cable, Nintendo
created the console, like Pokemon, the

game fits like right around the console.

Okay.

CJ: And, Nintendo really wanted
people to buy the Game Boy console,

and so they, They encouraged people
to buy it with the Pokemon game.

Well,

Logan: I think that was,
that's only for Switch.

That was only for the latest
Switch, the Switch Lite, the Switch

OLED, soon to be the Switch Pro.

I think that was only for those
because, now that I think about it,

I don't think, I think you could
buy a Pikachu,, edition Game Boy,

but I don't think you got the game.

I'm pretty sure you could buy
a Pokemon version, but you

couldn't get the Pokemon game.

And back then, first of all,
the console only cost like $80.

Now it costs 200 and what, 200?

Like $95.

Back then it only cost $80.

And the game pack, were like 20 bucks.

Yeah.

So it was like a hundred
doll, like so better days.

Yeah.

When things were more affordable and I
mean, although it was worse, you could

still just pay a hundred dollars just to
buy the game and and the console, but now

you have to pay $350 to buy a $60 game
and a $295 console or $250 gross if you

want The less valuable switch light or.

410 you want the super
expensive OLED and the 60 game.

Yeah.

, CJ: Anything else about the
different generations of Pokemon?

Oh!

What's your favorite generation
besides Scarlet and Violet?

Logan: It's hard to pick between yellow.

I mean, like, I have a favorite
generation for I have a favorite

game for every generation.

Oh, okay.

But I don't have a favorite
generation, really.

There are some games you can talk about.

So, There are some extra games.

Like Pokemon Arceus.

That is a really big one right now.

It's basically back then of Pokemon, but
like the Pokeballs didn't look the same.

And you had to craft them, and they
looked way weirder and different.

You had to craft your own
Pokeballs, like you couldn't

buy them, you had to craft them.

And they were way different types, and
they, and then you throw them in Pokemon.

And at the end of the game you gotta catch
Arceus, who created the Pokemon world.

CJ: And Arceus is like,
He is a type of Pokemon?

Logan: No.

No?

He is a Pokemon.

And the types, like the
normal, all that stuff.

He can be any type.

You have to put a special plate.

Depending on what type you want him
to be, the plate you want him to be.

If you're wondering, if you're wondering
how you get rusted shield, rusted sword,

the plates, all that stuff in sword
and And like, the admin stones, and the

pearls, or whatever you use for Palkia.

In Scrum Valley, you actually
have to go do auctions.

You have to purchase it, you have to bid.

And you have to win the auctions.

And if you don't want to have to win
a bunch of auctions before it appears,

you have to do this thing called, set
your switch's time 72 minutes ahead.

CJ: You, you heard this hack.

Does this hack actually work?

Yes.

Logan: It really works?

Yes!

No way.

Tried it.

CJ: Does each generation
have different cards?

Logan: Oh, yeah.

Each generation has a different
whole Polyval, Scrum Vial.

Scrum like, so, Sword
and Shield was humongous.

So was Sun and Moon.

So was Black and White.

Like, I even have apps on my
phone to tell me all of them.

CJ: Okay, so, let's say that,
like, tell me a Pokemon that

came out in Generation 1.

Logan: Like Pikachu, right?

Oh yeah, Pikachu.

Everybody knows Pikachu.

It's in almost, it's in every single game.

There's not a single, there's
almost not a single Gachi.

I, there's also a game
that Pikachu's not in.

Okay.

Let me

CJ: ask, let me ask the question though.

What does each generation come out with,
like a new version of Pikachu, or is it

the same Pikachu for all the generations?

Logan: It's the same Pikachu for all the
generations except sometimes they come

with like knockoff of the old Pokemon
like Wug Trio is Dug Trio, but basically

underwater and Wiglet is Diglet, but
underwater I feel like Pokemon just got

lazy when they did it and Pommy Basically
looks like Pikachu, but way cuter.

I really like Pommy over Pikachu

CJ: I in every generation you have
all of the p or all the Pokemon

from the previous generations Plus

Logan: new ones?

No, you've not of all,
all the previous ones.

Oh.

So there are lots of Pokemon
that are not, that were in store

shield, that are not in current.

And Violet, it's a main, like,
the old, like from back in Sun

Moon, the lowland forms, those
are like, you can't catch forms.

So you can get Alolan forms with Alolan.

Alolan?

What's that?

It's from Alola.

What's Alola?

It's a sun and moon region.

Okay.

So Galar Pokemon and Alolan Pokemon and
Palladian Pokemon, you can only catch

in the Palladian and the Alola region.

But you can have them in the, in
Soaring Shield's sun and moon.

Actually, if it's from a future
generation, you can't bring

it to the past generation.

But you can, but, I was saying, like, you
can have Galarian Pokemon in Scrum Violet.

Yeah.

And you can have a lone
Pokemon in Scrum Violet.

Except you can't catch Galarian Pokemon
or lone Pokemon in Scrum Violet.

But you can in the Indigo
Disc, the expansion.

So, and then, but, not all the, all
the Pokemon carry over, like, Rhyhorn.

He was not in Scar and Violet.

He's in the expansion, but he
was not in Scar and Violet.

Like, you can have him in the game
with Pokemon Home Transfers, but

you can't get him by catching And
that's with all the legendaries.

That's with most of the Pokemon
from previous generations, actually.

If I pull a Pokemon right now on
my phone, you'd see that not all

the Pokemon from the previous
gens can go in the current gens.

But if they're the same region, it can
go over, like, all Pokemon from, all

Pokemon from Skr no, from, from Pokemon,
no, from Pokemon Pearl shine Shining,

Pearl Diamond and Brilliant Diamond.

Those are Al Plus Archies.

All those four, can they, they're
all same region, so they all connect.

You can connect through
the, all those games.

And actually there's also this thing
called Pokemon Bank, which is on the ds.

You can go from Pokemon
Bank to Pokemon Home.

It's like kind of, it's
kind of weird, but yeah.

Do you have any questions?

CJ: I think that's a good place to stop.

I think you answered tons of questions.

Yeah, why don't we wrap it

Logan: there?

Okay, let's wrap.

See you next time.

See you next time.

Bye!
