Welcome back to The ProSource Podcast,
everybody.
I'm excited to welcome Matt Vecchiola
onto the podcast today.
He is the Senior Director
of National Sales over at Top Knobs
and Atlas Homewares, which is two brands
that we are talking about
and focusing on today.
So this episode is all about hardware.
I feel like hardware is one
that is sometimes overlooked, depending on
what kind of pro trade
Pro is listening, maybe, but I'm excited
to dive into all of it today with Matt.
I. So thank you so much.
Matt for joining me.
Let's go.
Molly welcome back.
Thanks for having me on again for another
time to talk about knobs and pools.
But let's dive a little deeper this time
because I think what you just said
is very true.
And we will touch on that today.
So thank you.
Yes, I'm excited to get into it.
And like he mentioned, this is not
the first time we've had you on Matt.
So I won't bore people too much
with what we've already talked
about the last two episodes.
I'm excited to like,
dive a little bit more
anyone that did not listen
to the last two episodes.
That made a big mistake
and not listening to those episodes,
can you just share, like briefly,
what your role is for both brands
and what your day to day is?
Yeah. As you said,
senior director of National sales.
I've actually worked here for 19 years,
believe it or not, and my job on the day
to day is just to make sure everything
runs smoothly.
I spend the majority of my time working
really closely with our sales reps,
working closely with our customers
when things come up,
but we just want to make top knobs
and Atlas Homewares
the easiest company that you have
in your showrooms to do business with.
We know you have a lot
of complicated products to sell,
and we just want to make hardware,
specifically top knobs and Atlas.
Easiest thing you could possibly sell,
and I just want to make sure everything
runs smoothly.
why do you think hardware matters more
than what people might think
they're listening to?
This might be overlooked.
Yeah, very much so.
But if you think about it,
hardware is pretty much the most
interactive element in your kitchen.
Think about how many times you open up
cabinet doors
and draws on a daily basis,
and you know when you're doing
a little remodel, it's also a small change
you can make with a big impact.
We like to think it's, you know, where
function also meets some personalities.
You could add some design twists
and make some things look really cool
just from tweaking the cabinet hardware.
Yeah, I know last time you were on,
I feel like like a majority
of our conversation was about Honey
Bronze, the iconic finish that there is.
Would you say that is still top of mind
for your customers?
Is that a finish that's still, well,
leaving trendy, still growing the gold.
So bronze is our gold tone
and it's absolutely exploded
pretty much over the last decade.
And you know, we never thought
it would take off the way it has.
And it just gets our number one finish
and it just continues to grow.
Last year it grew more.
And so far in 2026, it's training to grow
even bigger than it was in 2025.
So yeah, that gold trend is here
and it's still growing and still popular,
believe it or not.
No, it's it's very pretty.
And just to make it clear,
you can find that finish in both Atlas
and top knobs, right.
Make it clear because it's it's
a different finish in Atlas.
It's called warm breath, said Atlas.
And it's called honey bronze top knobs.
And the reason they have two different
names is they're not an exact match.
They're a close, very close shade.
But honey bronze is the top knobs.
Gold and warm brass is the Atlas gold.
So that is
that was a good question to ask
because I, I'm learning something new to.
And here I was
I was in my marketing department after
we had our last episode, I was like,
you guys got to check out Honey Bronze.
I'm like the expert
within the marketing department on Honey
Bronze after our last episode,
but I guess now I'm not,
because I totally, up until this point,
thought that it was also the same title
for Atlas as well,
but it is a really pretty finish.
Very pretty.
It's right here over my
my shoulders as well as our gold tone,
and you can see that
it blends very nicely with,
you know, this tone of wood cabinetry and,
you know, the faucet and everything.
So that's what makes it so popular
is that it just works
with pretty much everything else that's
trending in the kitchen and bathroom. Yes.
And if you're not watching
the video version of this podcast,
you can do that on YouTube.
But anyone listening,
what is like the key differences
between Atlas and Top knobs?
How do we differentiate fire
with the question set?
That's another great question
because we get asked that all the time.
So top notch is known for refinement,
versatility, consistency.
And Atlas
was where we explore design expressions
and some more directional ideas.
The brands solve different design needs.
Most great spaces actually benefit
from a little bit of both, so Top Knobs
offers a timeless, foundational piece
that goes on the core of your cabinets.
Atlas offers is designed forward pieces
that can be used on focal points
such as islands, vanities,
and other feature areas in your house.
We like to say
Top Knobs builds the framework and Atlas
adds the punctuation I love that.
Can that be the title of this episode?
Actually, there you go.
When we were when we were going through
some of these things here, that
that Atlas adds to punctuation was one of
our favorite lines that we came up with.
I love that.
And last time you were on,
I think you said something like,
hardware is the jewelry to the
to the space or the cabinet?
Yes, yes.
So every time we talk, there's like a new
very cool line that I'm going to adopt.
So what are you seeing right now
in terms of design trends
and how are both brands responding.
You already talked how they're
they're both purposeful in their niches.
But like as of right now in 2026,
what are some of the big design
trends outside from the beautiful honey
bronze that we have?
Yeah. So just piggyback on off the honey
bronze.
We're seeing a lot of warmth.
We're seeing a lot of texture
and hardware,
softer shapes
and some individuality as well.
Just some people taking some risks
on some designs with hardware.
The way we look at it from
our brands is top knobs, interprets
trends in a more timeless way,
and Atlas is where we allow ourselves
to take the first step into
where design might be going in the future.
That is nice.
I like that
you differentiated both of those,
because I feel like it
makes it easier for the listener
to think about both of them,
and like their own purpose.
I want to say I feel like right now
you already touched on it,
but like the personalized space is part of
it is huge,
but still trying to find a way
to make it like timeless at the same time.
It's a very fine line to walk
because how do you make it
so personalized
and niche and unique for your own taste,
but making sure that down the line,
it's still timeless.
The nice thing about hardware is
you don't really have to worry
too much about it becoming permanent.
It's not like a hardwood floor.
You can change that out next year,
and it's not going to cost you
an arm and a leg to do
that is the beauty of it.
That's the beauty of what our design team
does too, is, you know, not.
So if you don't want to change it out.
Top really just has some timeless designs
that have stayed on trend.
So some of the our best
selling pieces today at Top Knobs
were our best selling pieces a decade ago.
So it's, you know, it is a timeless design
that we have out there.
So what we've launched
is still here to stay.
So it's it's really cool.
And for those of you pro
showrooms that have had some displays
that have been out for a decade,
I mean, chances
are you're probably selling stuff off
those displays every single day, which is
which is great.
Absolutely.
Another big trend is quiet luxury.
People want that personality.
They want it to look nice, but
they don't want to spend a bunch of money.
How do both of these brands
provide that or balance that?
Yeah. So quiet luxury I guess.
Kind of a new buzzword
out there in the industry these days.
And it's I kind of look at it as
where did it come from?
When did it start?
I have no idea.
Something that
just kind of just popped up.
I heard people mention it at a cafe
and a few other industry shows this year.
So it's I feel like it's a 2026 word.
Possibly. So yeah, let's go with it.
So quiet luxury, a new buzzword out there
in the design and kitchen and bath world
and all that stuff.
And I kind of view quiet luxury
more about the feel
and a static of what we offer.
So when you put our products
in your hands,
you can tell that it's a well-made product
that's going to last a lifetime.
And specifically to our brands, top
notch supports that quiet, cohesive
backdrop, and Atlas introduces
controlled moments of personality,
letting designers be expressive
without overwhelming at space.
And Atlas gives you a permission
to take that risk,
but in a kind of a livable way,
if that makes sense.
Yeah, no, it definitely does.
I do feel like I heard quite luxury,
maybe in fashion first
and sometimes from, from,
you know, running around with kids.
So, you know, fashion's
not really my thing.
Yeah.
No, it's interesting
how sometimes that like
starts with fashion
and then translates into our homes.
Yeah.
But I think that's popping up in the last
year.
Is that is that term quite. Absolutely.
I kind of like it.
I just like saying it.
Quiet luxury for sure.
What else besides obviously
like the durability of the hardware
you were talking about.
Like when you feel a sample in a showroom,
you can feel that it's high quality.
What else makes it look or feel high end?
And what should pros or homeowners
that are looking for that
quiet luxury feel?
What should they look for? Yeah.
So really it's about the weight balance
and the finish depth.
You know, when you put our products
in your hands, you can feel like that.
It's a quality product.
No, high end isn't just durability.
It's how something makes you feel
every time you touch it.
So, for instance,
one of our best selling
pieces of Top Knobs is the Riverside Pull.
And that's like one of my favorite pieces.
It's a it's a great square
bar pool with a round base.
It's got a great production
and it's just a really comfortable piece,
and you can just feel comfortable
every time you open your cabinet door.
And we have a piece
very similar on the Atlas side
that we just launched
called Fender as well.
So those are two pieces
that are just really comfortable
every time you touch them.
And you can just kind of
feel that it's just such an upgrade versus
what you'll find from,
you know, some of the entry level
hardware brands that you might find
in the home centers, all that good stuff.
Yeah, I just
I just looked it up to get a refresher
on which what pool that looked like,
and that is a very easy pool
to incorporate into,
like a lot of different spaces.
That feels like a little bit higher end
than just a typical piece of hardware,
which is nice.
That's that's our brands apart.
It's just we just try and take
that extra step to make it
not only look great, but feel great
and you know, the quality of our products,
the extra, you know, work that goes
into our finishes and everything.
You can just tell that it's,
you know, a step above everything else.
So after quiet luxury, where do you think
decorative hardware is going next?
Well,
you know, any predictions? Well, yeah.
Obviously
the harbor is going to go on the cabinet.
That's my bad.
Dad joke is
that's a very good prediction.
I feel like that might happen.
Yeah, it might happen.
But hardware is becoming
part of a broader home styling story.
You'll see Atlas continue
to push more into expressive design.
LED and top notch will continue to evolve
into a way that keeps spaces
feeling timeless.
That's kind of where we're headed from,
you know, a design perspective
as to where hardware is going next.
If anyone listening
is about to start up a new project soon,
whether that's tomorrow,
next week, in a month,
what's one thing
that they should keep in mind?
So as far as Cabin Harbor,
what to keep in mind is oftentimes
people wait till the end of the project
for cabin hardware,
and it's really an important part
of your kitchen as we've touched on.
So don't treat cabin
hardware as an afterthought.
It's one of the easiest ways
to elevate your space.
So pretty much we have a lot to offer
from so many different designs,
so many different sizes,
so many different finishes.
So like really take the time
to look at the hardware
and take the time to find the right fit
amongst our many different options.
That's what I would do.
It's just,
you know, there's
so many things that you're selecting
when you're doing a whole kitchen remodel.
But hardware is one of the forgotten
but yet most important selections
you can make.
That's what I tell them
is take the time to do it,
because it's something like we alluded
to, you touch it all the time
when you're opening your cabinets, things
about how many times a day
you open your cabinets
and touch your cabinets
and look at your cabinets.
It's a it's a very underrated part
of your kitchen remodel
that you should take the time to look at,
especially if you're going for something
that's bold.
I mean, if you walk into a kitchen
and you have bold hardware
on your cabinets, that is the first thing
people are going to notice and look at.
So if you're doing something like that,
especially, you want to think of that
first and maybe do it.
Quote.
What people would think backwards
is if you if you really want
interesting hardware,
start with that first
and then work in a cabinet
that works great.
And obviously
if you start with the hardware,
all of our stuff is going to blend
well with all the popular finishes
that you get.
If you're going to for your
for your faucets, for your light
fixtures, for your appliances,
everything like that.
So, you know,
if you start with the hardware, it's
still going to work with whatever you pick
for the rest of your kitchen remodel,
because our stuff just blends.
That's what we that's what we designed
our brands to do,
is to work with everything else
in that space.
Absolutely.
So let's talk about what is new
for both of these brands in 2026.
I know for Atlas you have some
new collections that'll be dropping soon.
Let's start first with top knobs.
What is new for top Knobs in 2026?
Yes. So at the ProSource
Show in Denver back in January.
And then also if you were at calvus,
we launched the Pemberton Collection.
So it's another again,
it's just a timeless design
through a modern heritage lens.
So with wood tones
and traditional elements
making a comeback, this collection blends
those elements with modern comforts,
creating a warm, we'd love to use the term
timeless variety.
So again, modern heritage, timeless look.
For those of you
that already have it on display,
I'm sure you're getting quite a few
hits off of that board in your showrooms
already because of the response on.
It's been great.
And as far as Atlas, we, like you said,
we have three new collections
that we launched at the Pro Source Show,
and the cave is called Amplify
Finden and Lane Hurst.
And, you know, they're transitional
in style and thoughtfully crafted.
They balance a sleek design with
exceptional comfort, as we talked about.
So really excited about that.
Really excited for you guys to start
promoting
those three new ones from Atlas as well.
So really, really cool stuff
that our product design team.
So Christine, Tiffany
and CC over on our product management
team did a great job
with all these collections.
So shout out to them.
And we do have an in-house design team
here at Top Knobs and Atlas.
They hit home
run after home run every year.
And one of the main reasons
we're successful as a company is
because we want to do product launches,
and that's what keeps us relevant up there
as we keep coming up with new, relevant
designs to the marketplace.
Also, thank you to the showroom
for promoting our stuff and,
you know, talking about our new products
with your trade pros and design
professionals
that come in all the time. Yes.
And any pros or homeowners
listening to this,
go to your local ProSource
Wholesale showroom.
Ask for a sample
or samples of these collections.
Ask where the display is.
I know sometimes when people first walk
in, it's like, oh,
there's so much to look at.
So if you don't want to walk around
and find it,
or you don't just happen to see it,
make sure to just ask your account manager
about these collections.
The nice thing
if you are watching the video version
of this podcast or you need an incentive
to do that, I put all of these collections
on the screen
so you can see them right away
as we're talking about
so we just talked about the collections.
If you had to pick one of your favorites
personally, this is your take.
Which one is your favorite
out of all of those?
Between both brands,
I want to do something to pick favorites.
Yeah, I am, I am.
I'm going to give some love to our Atlas
brand and say the Fender and collection.
So when you throw the image up there,
you guys will see what that looks like.
And it's it's just a nice, comfortable
piece that I think
will do really well across any application
and any design taste.
Okay. Perfect.
So as we're gearing up
to finish this podcast,
thank you again for coming on.
I have a few final questions.
One is
when I've actually never asked our guest,
but I've had you on the most,
I think, out of all the guests.
this is this is one
I don't think you've ever been asked.
Maybe I don't know.
What's one question you wish people
would ask you in interviews but never do?
Yeah, that's a great question
because I don't want to be viewed
as some knob and pull robot guy
that that's all I talk about.
He is a person.
Everyone there is a there is a person
in here and really just I'm a family guy.
I have four kids. I love my family.
I love spending time with them.
And that's what my life is.
You know, a pretty interesting age
range from a one year old all the way
to a 15 year old and a three year
old and a 13 year old in between.
So that's that's my life.
They keep us busy and, you know, that's
what it's all about for me.
So yeah, there is a person in here,
a family guy.
And you know, that's
what life revolves around.
So yeah, Okay, cool.
Any final thoughts you want to share about
what is coming up in the next year
for hardware for both of these brands?
Yeah.
So we have three more collections
from Atlas coming this summer.
So be on the lookout for that.
We have another new Top Knobs collection
that's going to be coming out
at the ProSource
Show at the beginning of the year
next year, and our product development
team has a bunch of other fun stuff
in the pipeline as well.
So keep an eye out.
That's the thing with us
is every year you can expect new products,
and we got a lot of fun stuff
and they keep their ear to the streets
really well.
They listen to feedback
from our sales reps, from our customers,
from going
the shows and everything like that.
So a lot of the new design inspiration
does come from you guys out there.
So, you know, anything you guys can think
of, let your sales rep know.
Let me know, let Mollie know, let anybody
know, and we'll let our design team know.
Yeah, absolutely.
And if people want to find out
more information about these products,
where can they go?
If, you know, obviously they can go into
their local ProSource Wholesale showroom.
But if they're sitting on their
yeah, websites are fine,
but we have some great Instagram page,
our top knobs, Instagram at Top Knobs
and our Atlas Instagram page at Atlas
homewares are great
and that's where you can see
like for those of you watching,
you can see like these really cool,
you know, lifestyle
images of top knobs installed.
And Atlas saw it out in the wild.
And you know when you
when you see these pictures,
it really kind of helps you visualize
kind of where
you might want to go with your project,
not only from a hardware perspective,
but we got some great
cabinet pictures up there, some great
false pictures up there, everything.
So I highly recommend
checking out our social media stuff.
They do a great job.
They do a really, really good job
and I would highly recommend
using that as a tool. Cool!
And don't forget there's always links
in the show notes below.
If you want to go online
and see any of these collections,
any of these products
for either from either brands.
But thank you so much again, Matt,
for coming on
and sharing what's new for Top
Knobs and Atlas in 2026.
I'm sure this won't be
the last time we have you on.
We got to keep the tradition going
every year. It's great.
It's a yearly tradition, I think.
I think we're just getting better as we
go. Mollie.
So thank you so much I agree.
I.
