I wanna again welcome you to the 04:05 coffee break. Get your cup of coffee, glass iced tea, or bottled water. Guys, let's see what's happening. It's hot out there. Get a cool glass of lemonade.
OK Solberg:Spring wheat, $6.09. You know that. It's 29¢ up from yesterday. 550 pounds steer calf, $3.95. Butcher hog in Omaha, 59¢ a pound, and a 100 pound fat lamb in Billings at $2.14 a pound.
OK Solberg:But guys, there's more, much more. Okay. I had an episode recorded for this afternoon, I wouldn't had to come down here, but because of the fire last night, and what many are calling a Christmas miracle for the July 4, I decided to come down here live and thank the volunteer firefighters and our heavenly father for sparing all the homes in Hillcrest. Hallelujah. I wanna thank everyone who had a part in fighting the fire and helping the people who were evacuating or assisting in other ways.
OK Solberg:Guys, it was a team effort. I know there was an evacuation order, but I know some homeowners stayed right with their property and wetted down their property with garden hoses. Oh yes, it was truly a team effort. Now, many towns and cities have lost residential structures to fires. Many, dozens, hundreds.
OK Solberg:Well, even look at Denton, Montana back in 2021. That poor small town lost 25 homes. Now you couple fire with wind and I want you to know we had wind last night. I saw and heard where it gusted to 48 miles per hour during the fire. I hope to shout and yet, not one residential home was burned down, not one.
OK Solberg:I've been told that sometimes I get so excited, I repeat myself. I thought of it before, but I don't care. I'm gonna repeat myself again and you can't stop me. Last night we had a Christmas miracle for the July 4. I also wanna thank KMMAR for updates on the fire, and I wanna thank Doc for giving those updates.
OK Solberg:I listened to her many times last evening. Everyone's curious, everyone wants to help, but doc kept telling us to stay home and don't clog up the streets with traffic, rubbernecking, she didn't use that word, so the firefighters can travel unimpeded. So if you think about it, I was told to do nothing. Like my dear old dad used to say, that's what I do best. So I stayed home and looked from my backyard and listened to the radio.
OK Solberg:But I'm an early riser, so before 5AM I get up, make coffee and jump in the car. I wanted to go and see it with my own eyes. I was intending, seriously, I was intending to get a count of the houses that burnt down. So I drive up past Ready Mix and turn into Hillcrest. Now bear with me, it's going to sound like I'm changing the subject, just sit tight.
OK Solberg:I don't cry easily. Guys, I do many funeral funerals. Shoot, my sister passed away and my mom, but tears just don't come. It isn't that I don't care. I know this world isn't all there is.
OK Solberg:I know about eternity, but this morning, but this morning as I drove through the top end of Hillcrest and I seen I saw the burned bushes in the yards, I see the lawns around the houses burned, and I noticed that all the homes are still standing in good condition. Honest to God, I actually had tears running down my cheeks and I'm not afraid to admit it. I did and there were tears of joy for a miracle for Malta. I couldn't wait to go get Thea out of bed. Now I know I should have let her sleep but I wanted her to witness it with me.
OK Solberg:I called her, she answered, I said I'm coming back home. She said, is it bad? I said, come and see for yourself. So I left the suspense in her mind as we drove. We got up there, it was so wonderful, seeing the lawns burn but not the houses, seeing the yard bushes burn but not a house.
OK Solberg:Again, I say thank you to our heavenly father who spared us by the hand of our local volunteer fire department. Now guys, seriously, I talked with two firemen today and they both said, lo and behold, they had a new fire truck delivered yesterday about noon, and they filled it up and they got to use it hours later. Are you kidding me? No, I'm not. Let me close with a bible verse, Daniel three seventeen.
OK Solberg:If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it. Oh shoot, I feel so fortunate and happy, I'm gonna give you two verses for the price of one. Listen to Isaiah forty three two. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, the flames will not set you ablaze. Nope.
OK Solberg:The flames will not set you ablaze. I wanna thank the Lord and our volunteer fire department. I will never forget the Christmas miracle for the July 4. So until next time, as you go out there, remember now, don't be bitter.
