Het is zeven uur. Het is vroeg.

Jan gaat naar zijn werk. Hij rijdt in de auto. De auto is grijs. De auto is groot.

Jan rijdt. Hij kijkt naar de weg. Hij ziet veel auto's. Er zijn veel mensen. Het is druk op de weg.

Jan ziet een vrouw in een auto. De vrouw praat. Maar met wie praat zij? Jan kijkt. De vrouw heeft een telefoon. Zij belt iemand. Om zeven uur!

Jan rijdt verder. Hij ziet een man in een auto. De man praat ook. De man heeft ook een telefoon. Hij belt ook iemand. Om zeven uur!

Jan denkt. Hij denkt veel. Wie belt de vrouw? Wie belt de man?

Jan belt nooit in de auto. Niet om zeven uur. Zijn vrouw slaapt nog. Zij is thuis. Zij slaapt lekker. Jan belt zijn vrouw niet. Zij slaapt!

Zijn collega's zijn op het werk. Maar het werk begint om acht uur. De collega's zijn er nog niet. Jan belt zijn collega's niet. Niet om zeven uur.

Jan rijdt verder. Hij ziet nog een man. Deze man praat heel hard. Heel heel hard. De man lacht ook. Hij lacht hard. Om zeven uur! Wie is zo blij om zeven uur?

Jan is niet blij om zeven uur. Jan drinkt koffie in de auto. Koffie is goed. Koffie is lekker. Maar Jan praat niet. Jan belt niet. Jan rijdt.

Nu ziet Jan een vrouw. Zij praat ook in de auto. Zij praat met een kind? Het kind is thuis. Het kind gaat naar school. De vrouw belt het kind. Ah! Dat is logisch!

Jan rijdt naar het werk. Hij denkt nog steeds. Wie belt al die mensen om zeven uur?

Jan weet het niet. Jan belt niemand. Jan drinkt zijn koffie. De koffie is warm. De koffie is lekker.

Het werk is dichtbij. Jan stopt de auto. Hij stapt uit. Hij gaat naar binnen.

Zijn collega Hans is er al. Hans heeft een telefoon in zijn hand.

"Bel jij ook in de auto, Hans?" vraagt Jan.

"Ja!" zegt Hans. "Ik bel mijn moeder!"

Jan lacht. Natuurlijk. De moeder!
