Like a master surveyor, Jesus gives us clear directions to find a fulfilling, purpose-filled relationship with Himself - a map to the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Charted is a daily devotional written by the junior class at Fountainview Academy (Class of 2019). Based on the book Steps to Christ, this book explores the path to the Originator and Provider of Genuine Joy. We don't have to be confused about the way. The certainty is in the journey: divinely Charted.
No calamity can befall the least of His children, no anxiety harass
the soul, no joy cheer, no sincere prayer escape the lips, of which our
heavenly Father is unobservant, or in which He takes no immediate
interest. – Steps to Christ, pg. 100
Glass shattered around me as a rock obliterated my bedroom
window. Diving for cover, I knocked over my block tower, sending it
cascading to the ground. Flight mode kicked in, and I ran to my mum
where I hoped I would find safety. Shielding me in her arms, we ran to
a room with no windows, dodging the many rocks that threatened to
collide with us on the way. As we huddled together, we could hear the
rocks smashing our delicate possessions—it was almost unbearable.
Dad was working in the local mission hospital, and there was
no way to contact him. Unsure of what was happening, we knelt in
prayer, asking for help from the only One who could save us. Silence
filled the room in stark contrast to moments before. We slowly crawled
out of our hiding place, still on high alert. Debris lay everywhere, and
a thick dust cloud filled the room. Our house looked more like a war
scene than the comforting and loving environment it usually was.
Trying to salvage as much as we could, we hardly noticed
my dad as he walked in. He explained to us that a mob had gathered
outside and had tried to do us harm. They weren’t happy that we were
converting people to Christ, and were determined to kill us. For some
unknown reason, the mob, in fear, abandoned their mission. We don’t
know the details, but God was watching over us that day. He knew
our situation before we even thought to tell Him, coming to our rescue
when we needed Him.
