Zaki:

What a perfect morning. The grass is soft, the sky is clear, and look at all these juicy berries. I think today might just be my best foraging day yet. Delicious. And so many of them.

Zaki:

Maybe I'll just keep a few or maybe a few more. Okay. One more won't hurt. What's that sound? It's coming from over there.

Zaki:

Oh no. It's a nest of tiny sparrows and they're chirping because they're hungry. Oh, dear. I've been so busy gobbling up all these berries I didn't think about anyone else. I could have shared.

Zaki:

Here you go, little ones. I guess it's easy to forget sometimes how lucky we are to have so much. I should be more grateful.

Zaki:

Meraj Digital presents: The Amazing Stories with Zaki the Hoopoe. Episode 17, Prophet Saleh and the She Camel.

Zaki:

Salam, my wonderful friends. It's me, Zaki, your favorite Hoopoe bird, back again with another amazing adventure. Today's story has something truly extraordinary. A miracle that left everyone speechless and taught a lesson we can all learn from. Today's story is about a miracle that taught an entire community those very lessons about jealousy, about gratitude, and about humility.

Zaki:

It's about a prophet, a special community, and a camel that was no ordinary camel. Oh, no, my friends. This camel was a sign, a message from Allah to remind people of what is right. But before we get into the details, let's start from the very beginning. You know my little friends, there are three very important things to think about today.

Zaki:

Jealousy, gratitude, and humility. Jealousy, if you remember from prophet Yousef's story, is when we feel upset because someone else has something we want, like attention or something special. It's okay to feel that way sometimes, but it's what we do with those feelings that matters. Gratitude on the other hand is when we feel thankful for what we have like food, family, or even a sunny day. And humility, that's about understanding that we're not better than anyone else no matter what we have.

Zaki:

These three things will be very important in today's story. Let's settle in my friends, because this story is one you don't want to miss. A long time ago, there was a community called the people of Thamud. They were wealthy, powerful, and lived in homes carved into mountains. Can you imagine that?

Zaki:

Living inside a mountain. They had everything they needed, but there was one big problem. They forgot to be thankful to Allah for all their blessings. Instead, they worshiped idols and ignored the guidance of the prophets who came to them. Then Allah sent them a prophet named Salih, peace be upon him.

Zaki:

Hey, this is a new prophet for us. We haven't met prophet Salih. Prophet Salih was wise, kind, and well respected. He reminded the people of Thamud to worship Allah alone and to be grateful for the amazing lives they had been given. But do you know what the people did?

Zaki:

They laughed. They ignored prophet Salih and said, why should we listen to you? You're You're just like us, a human. If you're really a prophet, prove it to us with a miracle. Oh, and before we go on, what's a miracle you ask?

Zaki:

A miracle is something so extraordinary and amazing that it can only come from Allah. It's like when something impossible suddenly happens, and it shows us Allah's power and mercy. We've seen lots of miracles in our stories, haven't we? Now here's where the story gets interesting. The people of Thamud gathered and demanded a very specific sign.

Zaki:

They pointed to a large rock and said, if you are truthful, bring forth a camel from this rock. Not just any camel, but a huge beautiful one. Now that's not fair, is it? How could prophet Saleh make a rock into a camel? It's like the people of Thamud wanted prophet Saleh to fail.

Zaki:

They were asking him to do something that is impossible. They were asking for a miracle. But prophet Saleh wasn't fooled by this. He knew he couldn't bring a camel from a rock. But remember, prophet Saleh was a prophet.

Zaki:

So prophet Saleh prayed to Allah. And do you know what happened next? The rock split open, and from it emerged a magnificent camel, just as the people had described. It was unlike any camel they had ever seen. It was a miracle, a sign from Allah.

Zaki:

The people of Thamud couldn't believe their eyes. Prophet Saleh told the people, this camel is a sign for you. Let it graze freely and drink from the water. But be warned, do not harm it or Allah's punishment will come upon you. For a while, the people of Thamud were amazed and respectful.

Zaki:

They let the camel drink from the well and roam freely. But their hearts were still filled with arrogance and jealousy. They didn't like sharing their food and water with the camel, and soon, they began to plot against it. Wait, who plots against a camel? Seriously, it's a camel.

Zaki:

Anyways. One dark night, a group of them decided to harm the camel. They thought they could get away with it, but as soon as they carried out their terrible plan, the earth shook with Allah's anger. Prophet Saleh warned them, but it was too late. The people of Thamud faced a great punishment.

Zaki:

And their beautiful homes in the mountains broke and crumbled. All those beautiful homes turned into rocks and dust. Oh my, they were left empty as a reminder for everyone who came after them. What a story my friends. The story, my friends.

Zaki:

The people of Thamud had everything, but they forgot the most important thing, gratitude and obedience to Allah. Prophet Saleh did everything he could to guide them, but they chose to ignore him and harm the miraculous camel. Allah isn't mean or unfair. But sometimes when people do very bad things and don't listen, he teaches them a lesson so others can learn from it too. So what can we learn from this story?

Zaki:

First, we should always be thankful for the blessings Allah gives us. That's gratitude. Second, when we see something amazing like the camel of prophet Saleh, it's a reminder to strengthen our faith and trust in Allah. And let's not forget humility, my friends. Prophet Salish stayed humble even when the people of Thammud challenged him, and he turned to Allah for help.

Zaki:

As for jealousy, we saw again how dangerous it can be. The people's jealousy and arrogance stop them from appreciating the miracle right in front of them. We should always strive to be grateful, humble, and avoid jealousy. That's all for today, my wonderful friends. But don't fly away just yet.

Zaki:

Our next adventure is going to be even more incredible. What could it be about? Well, you'll have to join me next time to find out. Salam, and see you soon.

Zaki:

Captain Sohail, what are you, how did you

Captain Suhail:

Caught yeh young feathers.

Zaki:

You can't just barge in like that.

Captain Suhail:

What in the seven seas are ye doing, my good man? I hear ye squawking in here all day, talking to who exactly? Some kind of secret meeting, is it? Are ye sending messages to the parrots? Treachery.

Zaki:

What? No. I'm I'm I'm recording a podcast.

Captain Suhail:

A what now?

Zaki:

A podcast, captain. It's like telling stories to lots of people at once, but they can listen whenever they want.

Captain Suhail:

So you be sending messages across the air like a rogue wind whispering secrets to the world?

Zaki:

Well, I wouldn't call it

Captain Suhail:

It's just like when I sent me messages in bottles. Except instead of bottles, ye be using, what? Magic?

Zaki:

No. It's technology. People record their voices, and others can listen through their devices.

Captain Suhail:

Bah. Sounds suspicious. Back in my day, if you wanted a message spread, you either carved it into a fine plank of driftwood or shouted it from the crow's nest.

Zaki:

No. No. No. Stop touching things. You'll ruin the recording.

Captain Suhail:

Woah. Look at this shiny red button. What happens if I push

Zaki:

Don't push the red butt.

Zaki:

Stop.

Captain Suhail:

Hi.

Zaki:

Captain Sohail.

Captain Suhail:

What?

Captain Suhail:

Ay. So, that button be important then? Yes. Well, it is settled then. I officially declare myself part of your, what did you call it? Podquest?

Zaki:

Podcast. And no, you are not

Captain Suhail:

Yes. Yes. I, captain Sohail ibn al Bar, have decided to join your podquest. A wise decision if I do say so myself.

Zaki:

But I never

Captain Suhail:

Aye aye. We start at dawn or sunset or whenever ye squawk into this magic voice box again. I shall bring the sea shanties, and ye shall bring, well, whatever it is you do.

Zaki:

I tell actual stories.

Captain Suhail:

Then it's settled. Now, laddie, let's discuss this enterprise. Where be the snack table? A captain needs his strength.

Zaki:

I need a vacation.

Captain Suhail:

Oh, a pod quest upon the 7 Seas where a hoopoe and a captain tell grand tales with glee.

Zaki:

See you next time, my wonderful listeners, if I survive this.
