What is Clydesdale Media Podcast?

We cover the sport of CrossFit from all angles. We talk with athletes, coaches and celebrities that compete and surround in the sport of CrossFit at all levels. We also bring you Breaking News, Human Interest Stories and report on the Methodology of CrossFit. We also use the methodology to make ourselves the fittest we can be.

Okay.

What's going on, everybody?

We are live in Grant Park, Indiana.

Not Illinois.

Indiana,

we were at day one of the World

Fitness Project.

So Jamie and I thought we would jump

on.

We don't need the ceiling.

Here we go.

We thought we would jump on and see

if anybody was out there and wanted to

know what it was like here at the

venue.

uh for the world fitness project and it

was really nice it's very nice in there

they have done an excellent job it's very

intimate um i don't i mean i don't

like we've seen it we've seen the lights

we've seen the spectacle so kind of had

an idea of what to expect but

Yeah, I don't know.

It's intimate right now.

And I don't know if that's just because

it's Friday and there's maybe less

spectators that might be here this weekend

or that's just how these events generally

are.

There's a couple of things I would say.

The facility is beautiful.

The setup is awesome.

The vendors are as many if not more

than the CrossFit Games.

They, they weren't,

they just were in a more condensed area.

Um, but,

and some of them had smaller booths,

but there was, there was a, what, ten,

ten or twelve?

Yeah, there's probably at least ten.

And then there's like blow up chairs,

little couches that spectators can grab

with yard games,

like yard pong is in there, cornhole.

It's just – you can actually go work

out.

There's a spectator workout area.

It's just things you don't get really –

There's footballs to toss around.

It is the home of the Indianapolis Colts

practice facility.

So they are embracing the football vibe to

the whole thing.

They have nets to throw into,

footballs to throw into.

Lots of activities,

more so than a lot of events I've

ever been to.

Yes.

um but yeah it's it was really nice

and i think it was really well run

very professional um i know that i have

done schmear campaigns in the past uh but

this was a great experience i don't think

we've ever tried to smear wfp we've just

given

they said oh well they let us come

and it's it's going great so far and

the the um they have treated the media

better than we probably very well ever

that we there's two suites that are for

the media there's actually snacks and

drinks which we never get at any location

um

I mean,

we've been asked if there's anything we

need.

Do we like be good with where we

can go?

Yeah.

Very accommodating.

And they've given us tremendous access,

which we haven't taken advantage of yet.

So tomorrow will be the big day to

jump into that.

sometimes you just want to let athletes

warm up and do their thing we can't

really go in the warm-up area but there

we can get to where like their lounges

so we can maybe talk after before event

i noticed a bunch of people left in

between events because there was kind of a

big break from that combine into so i

don't even know how much we would have

been able to talk to them i am

curious though i would really like to talk

to some of the athletes and just get

their thoughts on that combine event like

it was it was like field day i

The only thing,

my biggest criticism was I wanted more.

Yeah.

You wanted the jump reach, everything.

No,

I wanted to see more of the athletes.

Oh yeah.

They had three floors going.

They had six lanes, five,

six lanes for the forty.

They had at least that many for the

five, ten, five.

And five for each of them.

Yeah.

And you could go whenever you wanted.

There was no,

because it was all laser timed.

Yeah.

So when you cross the first laser,

you start.

When you cross the second laser,

your time is done.

And, uh, it was, it was phenomenal.

Yeah.

We sort of have given some of this

like feedback already and it's, it's,

it was, it was awesome to watch.

There's just very, very minor things.

Like if it,

you could have popped up there,

like occasionally just popped up times of

people that had come through.

So you should

We lost signal for a second.

We are in an Airbnb and we are

subject to whatever Wi-Fi they have here.

It took us a while to even get

on the Wi-Fi.

We talked to their media person,

Patrick Clark,

about the screens and he said they

considered it,

but running the wires around that area was

going to be pretty cumbersome and

and could cause some tripping hazards,

things like that.

So that was something that they had

thought about.

They did have it.

The desk show is in that area of

the facility.

There's basically two floors.

There's the floor where the vendors and

the cornhole and the football,

and then the combine was on one floor.

And in that floor in the middle,

they have the desk show.

Yep.

the thing you see with Derek and Seth

and Annie and, uh, pit Malone.

Um, and they, for the combine,

they actually just turned around and

watched it and they had screens telling

them the time.

So they were trying to say it out

loud.

It was just kind of hard to hear

in there what those times were.

Yeah.

Yeah.

I almost could like,

the athlete would finish running and like

turn and walk by the judge to go

back and they would give them their name

and they would,

they would tell the athlete what they got.

And I would like,

could sort of like either read his lips

or hear him occasionally.

So that's kind of how I caught some

of the times,

but it was still just watching them.

Like, you're like, Oh, that one was fast.

Oh, that one was not so great.

Like,

It's just cool.

Yeah.

And just like who stayed low at the

start, who, and like on the five, ten,

five,

like who went lateral and who actually

turned their body.

It's just crazy.

And then on the broad jump,

what Gima heroes looked like going through

the air was crazy.

Awesome to see.

Yeah.

You just see him land and he's like

basically at the end of all the hashtag

hash marks.

And you're like, wow.

Yup.

That's ain't nobody beating that.

Yeah.

I mean,

it was the same when we could see

Carolyn jump and you could see where,

what hashtag she was on or hash mark.

And you're like,

Nobody's gotten that far.

I don't think that's not going to be.

Carolyn was the only one to go over

the fourth hash mark.

And speaking of Carolyn,

she took third in the forty.

She took second in the five, ten, five,

and she took first in the broad jump.

She actually ended up winning those three

events in their scored segment by sixty

some points.

The bad news is she only gets a

hundred for all three and second place got

ninety seven or ninety six.

Yeah, whatever this point spread is.

So even though she won by sixty some

points,

she only had she only gets the four

points or five points for whatever it is.

It does suck.

And one hand,

it would be nice to make those their

own scores, maybe not one hundred,

maybe fifty, whatever,

and and see that play out.

But

I mean,

I also understand because it is a combined

score.

That is the event.

Yeah, I guess.

Yeah, and of course we have a bias.

Right.

Just because Caroline would have done

amazing.

If it had gone any other way,

I don't know that we would...

I didn't look further into any of the

men scoring and

um how it ranked out i just was

it was quinn that one overall correct

queen one uh i think gee took second

yeah um which those were some crazy times

uh we won't be able to see this

but i can pull it up really quick

um let's go to the men so if

we yeah

Quinn Gee, that's right, Noah Wilson.

William Leahy took fourth.

He looked good on those events.

Yeah.

And we'll get into more William Leahy.

And then on the women's side,

it was Carolyn and Mathilde Garnes.

Emily Rethla, who looked so good.

Lena Richter and then Astrid Tinn.

Oh, and we were confused about this.

Yeah.

The audience can't see this, but, um,

they had Sydney McAlishan as tenth.

And I, if by eyesight,

I would say Sydney Wells would have had

a better combine score than Sydney

McAlishan,

but it has stayed as such all day.

I know we're like,

we both are going to fit for like,

did they switch the Sydney's?

Do they have the sin wrong?

So is there Sydney Gate?

We don't know.

We don't know.

So that ended.

Awesome job.

Kudos to everybody.

I actually talked to Will Morad about the

event.

And he said that they actually consulted

with people associated with the combine in

the NFL to make sure it was done

right.

And I agree.

That makes sense because it was it was

very well.

I love the lasers scoring.

Yeah.

And to be honest,

like some of the scores were so tight.

You had to have absolutely.

You just had to without it.

And what's cool is the first laser is

like you start and it's two steps before

you're through that first laser.

So you're actually up to speed a little

bit before you go.

So, yeah,

I think they did a great job.

And that's just like they do for the

NFL combine.

You could tell a lot of people had

never been in a three point stance.

Yeah.

Yeah.

And,

and there's definitely some hamstring

injuries.

There was that,

which is an unfortunate side effect of

doing something like this, but yeah,

there was probably, I don't know,

probably like six.

I know Chandler Yona, um,

Sydney McElysian had her hamstring taped.

There were a lot.

I know I'm missing a ton.

And when you saw event two, people,

when they got introduced,

couldn't even jog to their place.

And it became more evident.

But I talked to Will about that too.

Like,

did he think about the hamstring issue?

And he said they did.

And that's why they released it ten weeks

before the event so people could have time

to prepare.

And you can't ask for anything more than

that.

Nope.

I agree.

so i thought that was awesome um then

we went to event two and i know

they said this um uh crossfit says do

we think it's a failure to prepare well

chandler was doing this every week and

he's one of the ones that

I don't know if he like he looked

pretty good in event two.

So I guess I don't know if he

just kind of tweaked it a little bit

and he's he's OK.

And he looked flat out amazing in the

forty until the pop.

Yeah.

When he when you saw it go,

he had I mean, he pulled up immediately,

but he looked like he may set the

time.

Yeah.

Now, Quinn's time.

I don't think anybody predicted that

coming down the pipe.

There's some people thinking he might be.

Four, four?

Well, I don't think we, I don't, yeah.

I don't know what people were guessing the

top times would be, but maybe four, six,

four, five.

Yeah.

Two women ended up breaking the five

second mark.

Amy Kringle at four, nine, nine.

And then a team female athlete went four,

seven.

Yeah.

She beat a bunch of the men.

Holy smokes.

And then Quinn won on the men's side

at four, four.

I think it was Jamie at dinner was

reading all the NFL players that.

Amy is faster than?

Amy was faster and that Quinn was faster.

Oh yeah,

there was a bunch that Quinn was faster

than, yeah.

Amy was faster than Lineman and Tom Brady.

Quinn was faster than running backs and

wide receivers.

Yeah.

And it was, that is impressive.

Yeah, that was a cool post.

Go check that out on World Fitness

Project.

So then we move to event two,

which it's an event you just don't see

in competition anymore.

A long chipper.

And it, it did not disappoint.

It was actually really exciting to watch

and some great finishes like racing to the

end finishes in a. Fifteen to seventeen,

eighteen minute event.

Yeah, I, I loved it.

It's one of my favorite events that we've

seen.

I know it's long.

I know it makes for a long day

of watching five heats of twenty minute

heats.

is long i personally just love watching

fitness so i've thoroughly enjoyed it i

can see where people may have gripes it's

not as quick hitting as some of those

like back-to-back quick events they did at

the games and people seem to love the

pace of the games i just i thought

today was so well programmed it was one

of my favorite days of competition

And I don't even love like short sprints.

Like I enjoyed the combine.

It was fun.

It was cool to see some of those

times and then come over to a test

that truly like anyone can,

any one of these athletes can step out

there and do one round of that sprint

fast.

It's,

it's awesome to watch people like Olivia

was just perfect to watch.

Pace it correctly and finish strong.

The amount of people that imploded in

round four was crazy.

Yeah.

The implosions were because we don't do

this.

Exactly.

For event in competition.

Exactly.

And so many people blew up.

Yeah.

I mean, epic blow ups were Kringle.

who we didn't think had a weakness at

the games,

and now she blows up on this event.

Tudor totally imploded.

I know.

I thought we were past that.

Yeah, I thought so, too.

And he came out looking good.

He came out.

Yeah, I mean,

he was giving James a run for his

money.

And then James slammed the door.

Yep.

William Leahy was in one of the very

early heats.

He set the time to beat that did

not get matched until James went in the

last heat.

It would have been fun to see them

race each other.

I agree.

Because now William Leahy is in the lead.

Yep.

He's in first, Guy's in second,

James is in third.

William Leahy,

maybe that's why Hiller's back on.

Yeah, did he pull him out?

Pull him out of hiding.

His prediction for William Leahy is

finally coming true.

He did look good today.

We'll see how that tank goes, though.

Dude,

the unbroken parallel handstand push-ups

were impressive.

That's where, like,

Bill's handstand push-ups looked so good

the entire workout.

Almost everyone else broke down.

James looked good, but he had to break.

James is...

GHGs were incredibly fast.

And I feel like that's where Bill was

taking his rest.

I don't know if it would have been

a different race had he had competition on

the floor.

I don't know.

I don't think Bill has a coach yet.

Cross fat.

And I, and I do think,

I think that tutor has been trying to

work with mental coaches.

Yeah.

I think that people just aren't used to

the long chip.

And they went out too fast.

Yeah.

Amy Kringle,

I think is a bad-ass CrossFitter who just

went out too quick and couldn't hang on

for four rounds of that.

That sled was heavy.

You had to have been strong enough to

handle this one.

Or, I mean,

cause there were people that third round

three and four,

they just were too slow at the sled.

They couldn't keep up with it or the

combination of that sled.

going back to the handstand push-up they

were at the wall way too long or

failing handstand push-ups um i know

people early on asked about velner and if

there were any updates there are no

official updates that we know of um where

the media was supposed to be we were

on the other side of the floor so

we didn't see it happen

I've seen the clip of Katrin saying, oh,

it landed on his ankle.

Right.

We thought it was an Achilles because he

was grabbing the back of his leg.

But then I went back and watched the

YouTube and he's not on camera when it

happens.

Right.

So it's hard to say what happened with

Velner.

Yeah, it was kind of like for us,

it was just like the broadcast.

Like I was watching the floor and I

like,

turn and looked at at um travis and

then look and then looked over and pat

was on the ground so i also like

kind of followed the camera's eyesight

towards travis picking up the sled and

missed and i just i see i see

pat on the ground i'm like what's

happening

Right.

You actually said to me,

what happened to Pat?

Yeah.

Cause I'd moved to Travis cause Travis

took the lead at that moment.

And, uh, and then you tapped me like,

what happened to Pat?

And then we were trying to figure it

out,

but it was literally as far away across

the field.

He was lane one and we were over

on lane ten.

So probably wouldn't,

I don't even know if we would have

been able to see it happen anyway,

if we had been watching him.

So clock the running start,

Watch the NFL combine.

The first laser is just after the start.

And that's what they did here.

Yeah.

I mean, it's like a yard.

Yeah.

I don't know.

Somebody else had made a comment about

that.

I saw just scrolling through Instagram and

somebody else posted like times and they

added point one five to everyone's time to

like try to compare it to the NFL.

I actually think that might be the post

that shows who Amy Kringle is faster than

like they added point one five to all

the times.

And still,

and still that's who they're faster than.

So I don't know.

I don't know.

Again, I consulted with the NFL for this,

not the NFL, but people that are,

that are associated with the combine.

Um, and it was,

you can nitpick it all you want.

It was fun to watch.

Yeah.

I can see.

I know their concern was athletes fall

starting.

or tripping that laser early.

And so it makes perfect sense to me

why you do it.

Is it perfectly comparable?

Maybe not, but I still,

I think it was, we're compared,

it's for fun to like compare it to

other things.

This was, for today,

this was perfect to test these athletes.

Yeah, CrossFit, the NFL,

the NFL system is more robust because they

measure the ten-yard split,

the twenty-yard split, and the forty.

Yeah.

And so this was just the forty,

but it did it's to have the same

lasers they used at the NFL combine.

And they did that for the five, ten,

five, and they did it for the forty,

which I don't see any other competition

taking on that expense to make it a

legit test.

I mean,

how the masters athletes at the games

didn't even get chip timers.

No.

Yeah, this feels, I mean,

it's obviously individuals tough to

compare to us, but it feels prestigious.

They did not reach out to somebody in

India.

It was someone in Nashville.

Um,

Who is involved with tight end you who's

involved with the combine and he helps

train some of the tight ends like George

Kittle, uh,

and people like that for these types of

things.

Um, so yeah, I mean,

I had a nice long conversation with will,

um,

and they put a lot of effort into

this.

And like Jamie said,

today was one of the most enjoyable days

of watching competition.

that I've had in a long time.

And I'm just sad that more people weren't

here to see it.

I agree.

It is a little disheartening not seeing

more like true friends of the sport come

here to watch this because it's awesome.

And like fans and athletes alike are being

treated very well.

The whole thing just seems very

professional.

It does.

If photo sales are cheaper than chips,

then CrossFit should go to photo sales.

because they were legit tracking it all

the way down.

Um, okay.

Um,

I got news that I'm not allowed to

share.

So anyway, um,

That threw me off.

They were getting to the minute second and

differentiating everybody,

especially on that five, ten, five.

And I would love to see that at

a finish line at the games.

The five, ten,

five was cool to watch because some people

like turn and stop and turn completely and

start running forward.

Some people are really good at the

lateral.

Some people kept losing their footing and

falling down.

I mean,

that's why he had the three attempts.

Who's Greg Kittle?

I said George Kittle.

You did.

Yeah.

Yeah.

It was, but it, again,

both events were great to watch.

Both events were fun.

You know,

who surprised the hell out of me.

And she always does.

And I don't know why I haven't gotten

over it.

Lydia fish thrown around that big,

heavy sled.

People were failing.

She never failed.

And she just chipped away at that thing.

And she's in contention for a podium spot.

She's crushing it.

She paced it perfectly too.

Yeah.

That's the thing.

Like I like instead of just these,

I mean,

Olivia crushed it and she's clearly like a

powerful athlete,

but she truly has some fitness because she

was able to hold onto it and somebody,

but then somebody like Lydia,

Lydia was not a power athlete gets the

time to work her way back up and

out last some of these athletes that had

it been one round and just power output.

It's just not the same.

Yeah.

She's impressive.

And she is so much smaller than most

of the athletes out there.

It's crazy to see her.

And Travis said they have the flip side,

so maybe she's getting plenty of work on

that at PTT.

That's true.

Because he moved it very well.

I mean,

he's going to move it well regardless.

Especially when you dog the Combine.

He was fresh.

I know that was the other heartbreaking

thing about Pat.

We wanted Pat to beat him because Pat

tried so hard in the combine.

Yeah, Pat took eighth in the combine.

He went hard.

And not bad for an old man.

Yeah.

Travis Mayer

jogged the forty, jogged the five, ten,

five.

Now, in his interview,

he said that he had a pooled abductor.

Yeah.

And so he was taking it easy to

try to make it through the weekend.

And so he was fresh for event two.

And he even said,

felt like my first event.

Well, because it was.

Yeah, he did good.

It was a good event for him.

But yeah, great day.

Very, everything was very professional.

Everybody that dogs, the lighting,

it was so nice.

It's cool.

It looks like it for pictures.

Oh yeah.

The lighting for pictures is so much

better.

So much better.

Um,

there's still a lot of people on the

floor.

Yeah.

Oh my gosh.

Why we need.

Five cameras at one time.

Really no freaking sense to me.

And she was in lane ten.

So you couldn't see past them to get

to see anybody else.

Now,

I'll say the bleachers are nice because

they're elevated.

So you can see over the people.

My other little bone of contention which

is just a small little one is there

is a media pit yet

fans are now walking into the media pit

and taking up the space on the barricade

which is a little bit aggravating and

it'll probably get busier tomorrow yeah

more aggravating yeah i love today i'm

excited for tomorrow i almost i almost

think i might like tomorrow more than

today which is i like i you know

i like run so i'm excited and i'm

excited to get outside because it's cold

in there

I'm excited to be outside tomorrow

morning.

I did not think it was cold in

there.

It was cold in there.

Especially when I was trying to get.

So to get you,

we have a spot at the finish line,

but to get to it,

you have to basically leave the little

venue and haul ass down behind the

bleachers and get down there.

I left and Amy Kringle was in first

place.

I got down to the other thing,

hauling ass and she is in third.

Yep.

Because of the implosion.

Yeah,

that's what happens when you hit your

horse to one athlete and they don't always

pull through.

Clock says the lighting was good finally.

Chat moaning and bitching for the win.

Look,

I don't know what the broadcast looked

like.

The stuff on the Jumbotron looked

pristine.

Oh, man, it's crisp.

That is high def.

And I think that's the broadcast.

I would think that's the same stream that

the audience is seeing.

But the lighting in person is phenomenal.

It's cool.

The smoke coming out,

everything is so awesome.

Like,

it'd be such a cool experience as an

athlete.

I looked at Jamie and I said,

this feels like an, a big event.

They make it feel like a big event

when not only for the athletes,

but for the spectators, it just feel,

it has that feel of what you would

expect the games to be.

Yes.

And the games doesn't do smoke and the

games doesn't do a special lighting.

There's a lot of things that like this

does better.

I agree.

And again,

that second workout was something we

haven't seen even at the games in a

long time.

Yeah,

because they think they do their run,

and they're like, oh,

we've done a long event.

We've tested endurance.

Have we?

Yeah, I was just going to say,

JR mentioned that last night,

that programmers seem to think we did a

long run.

That's the endurance event.

Now we can just go to the rest.

Yep.

And this was...

This was a nice long chipper.

And I didn't even mind how long it

took to get through all the heat.

I didn't mind it either.

Because it was fun to watch.

I mean,

there was someone in every heat that was

worth watching.

Even those early heats set some blistering

times.

So it was exciting.

Every heat was exciting.

Who was banned?

oh like the jy stuff oh maybe i'm

so old can't we just move on i

don't know the chat in the wfp when

you're watching it live hmm yeah that's

too bad yeah just watch it without the

chat i just turned off it makes the

screen clear the chat usually runs over

the live scoring anyway so you just turn

the chat off yeah the live scoring is

awesome

And with it being on the Jumbotron.

Mark Phillips.

So I will say this, Mark Phillips.

It has not been without our rants today.

True.

We have had our disagreements.

She has called in third-party members to

prove that she is right in our arguments

at the venue.

I'm just argued out.

She has worn me down to the point

where I just can't anymore.

So yeah, maybe after a good night's sleep,

we'll go for round two tomorrow.

We just haven't had to like fight and

argue with access and area and other

people.

Like it's just been nice.

It has.

We've been treated almost...

It feels like we've been treated like

we're important.

And I just don't even... I don't...

I've never felt that way.

I almost don't want other external media

to come.

I mean,

I do because they deserve the exposure,

but it's nice.

If we're one of the few that want

to come talk about it for them and

they're willing to...

People are missing out is all I can

say.

Yeah.

Again, very enjoyable experience.

Very nice parking.

Yeah.

It was twenty five dollars parking for the

whole weekend.

That's the other thing.

Like the pricing on this.

That's where I'm sad.

More spectators are coming because it's

like ninety nine bucks for the whole

weekend.

And like.

That's that's more reasonable.

That's what the CrossFit game like

CrossFit game shouldn't be more than two

hundred bucks.

Yeah.

Ninety,

ninety-nine dollars for the whole weekend.

No fees on that.

That was straight.

That was it.

No service fees.

Just ninety-nine bucks the whole weekend

and twenty-five dollars to park for the

whole weekend.

So you get all three days for a

buck twenty-four and you're done.

And I'm just going to say that the

third party she called in on one of

the arguments today was Hiller.

Freaking Hiller.

And he's not even here.

But he's making meat again.

So, yeah, all is right in the world,

I guess.

And so I lost another argument.

The camera cutting away from Vellner and

Jeremy immediately reading an ad for the

celebrity was funny.

Yeah, that's weird.

Yeah, we just...

We were just catching Heller's recap on

that.

We haven't made that through.

I literally just caught that, so...

We actually just got back from dinner and

immediately went live so we could talk

about what we saw today.

Tomorrow we have the bench press.

We have the run.

And we have something in the middle.

Is tomorrow the sandbag squat and pull-up

one?

I don't know.

I can look real quick.

It was not about the Bears.

It was not.

Okay, yep.

That's four.

So it's five.

Yep.

Chest to bar, sandbag squat, sled push.

Yeah,

their legs are going to be wrecked

tomorrow.

I'm excited to see that one.

That one's going to hurt.

The way the floor is laid out with

the turf and the rubber...

is really cool too,

because it allows for like the flip sled

in one section and then like the GHDs

and stuff like that in the other section.

And it was really cool that the lights

did not turn on for the finish run

until someone was finishing.

Yeah.

That whole end of the floor didn't even

need to be lit up.

Like it brings your focus to where,

where everything is.

Yeah.

This will,

the sled push will be on that turf

tomorrow.

It's going to be, I'm excited.

Yeah.

it has been it has been awesome um

we're going to come back on tomorrow night

i don't know how late tomorrow goes me

either the run will take a while right

like forty forty five minutes yeah um but

i want to say that yeah and then

the bench press shouldn't take that long

And that other workout isn't really,

so maybe it won't,

but I think three team events are tomorrow

too.

And they have the activations in between.

So, yeah.

So we'll, uh,

we'll catch the action tomorrow and then

we'll be on for that.

And then we'll probably do a full show

with Carolyn like Tuesday.

Okay.

After cause I'm assuming you and I are

heading out of here as soon as this

is over.

Because I got to work Monday morning.

And then we'll probably go Tuesday when

nothing else is on.

Okay.

That works.

Tessa, you should be bummed.

It has really been an enjoyable

experience.

But at least you can always watch the

replay.

Just open Instagram and get scores.

Just open it when you can.

I enjoyed the games a lot watching it.

I think I've enjoyed this more.

Yeah, we're one day in.

We'll compare at the end of the weekend.

CrossFit says worried about Achilles,

to be honest.

That was our first thought.

That's exactly what I said.

I saw him reaching for the back of

his leg.

That is what I thought.

Everybody is saying that it is the sled

falling on his ankle,

but we'll wait to hear.

You know, there are HIPAA.

I know he's Canadian,

so I don't know if he's under HIPAA,

but in this, the United States, we are,

we have HIPAA rules that we can and

cannot release information.

Did anyone pull a hamstring on the Forty?

Yes, lots.

It was a lot of grabbing.

Yonah Koski and Chandler were probably the

two biggest names that pulled a hammy.

Sidney McElishnett and hers taped up.

I don't think I, I, there was,

there was a couple other women,

but they were in earlier heats.

Um,

I don't know if it did fall on

him, Tessa, Tessa.

I, I mean, we didn't see it.

So what I'm hearing now is he's going

to make an announcement in the morning.

Yeah.

Tire flips two up Achilles that strong and

I could see it.

I was talking to Scott about that right

after it happened.

I was explaining if anyone watched seven

on with Greg on Wednesday and they were

talking about the,

I don't know if it was jujitsu or

karate that came in for like level twos

and tore a couple of Achilles from the

planted foot from the other one kicking.

That was my thought process here with that

planted foot kick, pushing up the sled.

But I don't know.

Yeah.

But we're now hearing that he'll make an

announcement.

Okay.

Yeah, we're bummed regardless.

I mean, you know,

he didn't put any weight walking off.

So either way...

Early retirement just sucks.

I was really excited to see him here

this weekend.

And he looked good.

I know.

He looked good in both the Combine and

Event Two.

You know, Event Two was pure CrossFit-y.

And he was, other than Travis,

he was out there.

And I think he would have caught Travis

in the end.

It's the universe telling him it's over.

Yeah.

Maybe.

Maybe.

He's had a great,

he had a great career.

If this is it,

and this is how he goes out.

The man did a lot with what he

had and he was always fun.

One of my favorite athletes.

Um, let me see that.

Uh, hold on.

There might be something now.

grin out oh he's good kind of what

happened in the second event today um

because i understand the feed uh showed

some dramatic stuff and uh people aren't

really sure what

on my left leg while I was doing

the flip sled when I went to split

stance in the clean or my back leg

Achilles and then I tried to ditch the

sled to the side and I went down

to kind of grab my leg and then

the sled like bounced off the ground and

then kind of landed on my other leg

while it was already flat on the ground

so pictures of like the sled on my

leg like it crushed me that had nothing

to do with that didn't hurt me and

that my right leg is completely fine

My left leg is not.

I have a full torn Achilles on my

left.

The injury before the sled ever ended up

on top of me.

That was like an aftermath consequence.

So, yeah, that's what happened.

That's exactly what I thought happened.

Yeah.

Jamie and I actually both thought Achilles

early,

and everybody was trying to tell us it

was something else.

But now we know for sure.

CrossFit says foot flattens with fatigue.

I mean,

you just came from those tall box jumps.

You just came from doing... The combine.

Yeah, the combine.

Then those box jumps into that.

And I... Yeah, that sucks.

Yeah.

I'm bummed.

So...

Yeah, he had a great career.

Again,

my favorite memory of him and you is

you running with him in Pasadena to get

the interview and he was pissed about the

sleds.

That's still like my favorite.

And the other memory I have of him

is his wife, Michelle,

lost her keys at the games.

And he came up to us and asked

if we'd found them or if we could

help find them.

And at the time,

Amy was a co-host on the show.

She found the keys.

Wow.

How?

Just happened upon them.

It wasn't even like... That's insane.

Yeah.

We were in that and Madison,

there was that athlete area where the

athletes kind of hung out and warmed up

and all that.

Um, and the media area was there too,

upstairs.

So it's not like a lot of people

come and go from that area.

And so she might've just left them sitting

somewhere.

Yeah.

That's crazy.

Meredith says, uh, he went out swinging.

Yeah, my favorite picture he posted,

and I didn't even see this until just

now, is, I don't know if I can.

This is him in the broad jump.

And he typed we on it.

I love it.

So.

There are some really cool pictures out of

all of that.

I mean, Carolyn's got an amazing one.

Her start of the forties,

someone took a black and white picture of

her that if it were me,

it would be blown up and framed on

my wall.

And then Guy,

someone got a picture of Guy doing the

broad jump.

He looks like Superman.

I do not know what's going on with

Ella.

I found that very strange that she didn't

even attempt one handstand pushup because

I thought there was a minimum work

requirement.

so is she out but she came out

on the floor i don't know no she

couldn't have hurt the shoulder in the

combine she had to come in hurt i

mean she's not going to hurt your shoulder

i mean sam sam cornway is hurt

There's a bunch of dudes out there that

are hurting.

I got through that.

And he was doing six inch box jumps.

I don't understand what looked to be a

wonky knee.

He was one leg jumping for the last

few minutes of that workout.

And that's why the Travis mayor thing kind

of got me a little bit.

Now he did finish,

but he just jogged it.

Yeah.

But Ella didn't even take the floor.

She just sat there and chatted with her

judge.

Yeah.

She didn't even kick upside down once.

That didn't make sense to me.

I thought there was a minimum work

requirement.

I actually passed her on the way out,

but she was in full conversation with

somebody.

Because I did want to ask her.

Because she looks so good in the combine.

I know.

I was looking forward to seeing what else

was going to come.

Yeah.

I guess we'll see if she's out.

Maybe we can talk to her tomorrow.

We'll see if she...

She should do good in that tanky run

if she takes the floor for that one.

Yeah.

She doesn't have to go inverted.

Yeah.

I mean, she's a good runner.

Yeah.

I think the wild thing is Emily Rethwell

killed the combine,

did pretty good in event two,

and she's going to kill this run tomorrow.

She will kill the run, bro.

And she's going to be in the top

five by going into the fourth event.

Mm-hmm.

Emily Rathwell.

Who, who had that?

I know, but like, you just,

she's not that person you think of.

That's going to be top five halfway

through the weekend.

Who looked the biggest in person for

females?

Hmm.

Amanda Fisher.

Yeah.

But she just is a bit like she

looks big on TV.

Yeah.

Amy Kringle,

this is a funny story from today.

So Jamie took a picture the other day,

and we're not going to pull it out,

where her hamstring was very pronounced.

Yeah, I was embarrassed.

My sister took a picture and posted it.

I'm like, dude, be nicer.

So Amy's running the .

And Jamie sees the same hamstring

pronunciation

And she's like, that's that.

And then she pulled up this picture for

me to watch.

Look at them both.

Look at them both.

Amy is jacked.

Amy is jacked.

I'm not that jacked.

But we have similar hamstrings,

apparently.

Well,

apparently that means you can run a sub

five foot.

Folks, I would tear something.

Yeah.

Who's the biggest of the females?

I mean,

I always think Emily Rolfe looks jacked

out there.

She's just taller than everyone.

Yeah,

but Emily was like wearing long sleeves

today.

Yeah.

So it was hard to tell with her.

Emma Tall is, but she's short.

Not tall.

The last name is.

Yeah.

But she is jacked.

She always has been.

Honestly,

I almost feel like she looks smaller now

than she has in years past.

You know what did surprise me?

David Sharunky in Corn Rose.

I've only ever seen him bald.

Maybe I didn't even recognize who he was.

You'll have to point him out.

Yeah, Emma is definitely yoked.

But she is not tall in stature.

No.

Uh,

I'll think about that tomorrow and get

back to you.

I'll try to think who's the.

Yeah.

Yeah.

I'll look for it tomorrow.

He looks like a specimen.

You thought Harry Lightfoot was bigger

than you expected.

Yeah.

Harry looked big, not taller,

but he just looked thicker than I thought

Harry was.

Um, hopefully he's feeling better.

He looks good out there.

Um,

I didn't see the guy in cornrows.

I don't know what to tell you.

I just didn't see him.

Yeah.

So when I went down to the finish

line, Emma won that.

Yeah.

He was,

he was in this VIP area and he

leaned over the,

the barricade to like hug her and have

a conversation with her.

Yeah.

And that's, that's why I saw him.

Yes.

David Shrunke's cornrows look very similar

to Dave Castro's cornrows.

Oh, wow.

Okay.

Yeah.

You can't miss them.

My prediction is by tomorrow night,

James Frank will have a commanding lead.

How do you think he's going to do

a bench press?

I think that's the only trip up he's

going to have.

But he's gained so much strength.

Yeah.

Yeah.

So I think at worst it's a mid

pack and then he's going to kill the

run and he'll do the kill the other

thing too.

And he just looks like he's in that.

His family's here.

Like the whole damn family is here rooting

him on.

And I think that helps.

I saw his dad.

Danica was standing right beside me when I

was in the media pit.

She was jumping and shaking my camera as

I was trying to take pictures.

Wayne, you know,

I didn't think Laura looked good in the

chipper either.

I thought she looked great.

But for a handstand push-up workout,

I think she took eleventh.

Right.

I think she looked great.

She's going to do well tomorrow.

Laura's going to get a lot of points

tomorrow.

Who got the biggest crowd reaction and why

was it Colton?

It wasn't Colton KDL.

I think there's a kid here in the

early heats who I think is from

Indianapolis because he has his own

little, and they are loud.

I thought it was Will Kearney,

which I don't think he is from around

here.

I don't even,

I think he's from like England.

Maybe not,

but I know you're talking about, yes,

they have like twelve.

They have their shirts.

Yeah.

Um, he's actually getting cheers.

I've a lot of times when he's gone,

I've heard cheers.

Um, who else?

I mean, Lydia has her fish heads.

I thought Colton was going to tank event

too.

And then he came out of nowhere.

He paced that one really well.

Chris, I borrowed them.

Good.

I actually talked to Nick Johnston and

Kiefer on the way out.

Chris has big goals for this weekend.

Good.

He was mad he didn't make the games,

and he's been busting his butt to have

a big weekend this weekend.

This is Chris's games.

I love that.

I love that mindset.

So, yeah, that was really cool, too.

Yeah,

Chris looked good in the combine and –

the trip he looked really good like just

quietly he never was he never led but

he just was right there with the lead

pack and he was in the same heat

as james and james beat the time to

beat by thirty seconds right so his second

place finish in that heat was pretty good

it was excellent well i think that's it

i think that's it i think that's it

We'll be back at it tomorrow.

We'll let you know what we see tomorrow

night.

And hope everybody has a great night.

And we will see everybody next time.

Live from WFP.

And this touchpad is going to be the

death of me.
