What is Clydesdale Media Podcast?

We cover the sport of CrossFit from all angles. We talk with athletes, coaches and celebrities that compete and surround in the sport of CrossFit at all levels. We also bring you Breaking News, Human Interest Stories and report on the Methodology of CrossFit. We also use the methodology to make ourselves the fittest we can be.

Don't forget to boot me.

What's going on, everybody?

We are live.

It's a lunchtime minus the cowboy.

Sad.

From the gym to the screen, yeah,

we cover it all.

Midday motivation every time you press

call.

Lunch with the Clydesdale.

Cowboy bring the heat.

Crossfit, boobies, music on repeat.

Half hour hustle, yeah,

we building that brand.

Grab a plate, tune in now,

you part of the fam.

It's lunchtime.

What's going on, everybody?

Welcome to Lunch with Clydesdale and the

Cowboy.

As you notice across the top of your

screen,

I have made a new graphic to include

the cowboy.

And when I did that,

he decided not to show up.

It actually,

like in the history of this show,

every time I add the cowboy to an

element of what we're doing,

he misses the next show.

So I am the cause of his back

injury.

Apparently.

I guess he just did a little tweak

of the back.

He's trying to get in with PT,

trying to get that scheduled now.

I'm sure we'll talk about it later in

the show or in the week or whatever.

So...

So Vicki and I held a team meeting

this morning, minus the cowboy.

And she had a great idea.

And so we're going to run with it.

I'm going to run with it.

In honor of Daniel Arnson,

we are going to have a weekly Dumb

Dumb Stupid Pants award.

And we're going to take nominees through

the week.

and we will put up the nominees in

a poll on Friday,

and every week we will have an answer

or a winner of the Dumb Dumb Stupid

Pants Award.

So, hypothetically,

the Masters athletes do not know what

their pay will be for winning the CrossFit

Games.

That would be a nominee...

of crossfit hq for not following their own

rule book telling them what their prize

purse would be they would be a nominee

for the dumb dumb stupid pants award

unlike crossfit i'm not going to put

anything in

a rule book because I want it to

be open.

I want the nominees to be from all

over the place.

I want you guys to be creative in

who might be the dumb, dumb, stupid pants.

And so you can put that in the

comments on the YouTube channel,

or you can DM me with a dumb,

dumb, stupid pants nominee.

I am sure that we will have our

own nominees through the week.

And with that,

we just need a brief explanation as to

why this thing or this person deserves the

Dumb Dumb Stupid Pants Award this week.

So, with that...

I saw a lot of people dancing to

the theme song.

Yes,

we dance almost every day to the theme

song, just so you know, behind the scenes.

So the fact that you guys are dancing

out there,

it's pretty freaking awesome too.

So we can all call it the dance

party.

Avera,

given odds are high that we talk about

a movie or a song,

I want to recommend the movie Hostiles.

Now, how about some CrossFit talk?

Well, what I want to talk about, Avera,

I have not seen Hostiles.

I will put it on my list of

things to check out as long as it's

not a horror movie.

I don't watch horror movies.

That's like reading books to me.

Ken Walters, well,

now I can't comment in the chats anymore.

Why can't you comment in the chats?

um what we're gonna talk waza socal we

are it's on my list i promise um

what i want to talk about right now

though is last night i watched the season

debut of lioness you all know i am

a big taylor sheridan fan the unique thing

about lioness is it's the one show where

taylor sheridan is actually an actor that

plays a pretty big role

in the show and if you've never kept

captured lioness it is the first episode

of season three last night and it is

about a female operative with the cia and

they are put into places where maybe a

women a woman can could infiltrate where a

man couldn't um

It started off with a bang last night.

I'll just say that.

Something very dramatic happens in the

first five minutes of the show,

and then it goes back six months,

and it's going to lead up to why

what happened happened, I'm assuming.

But it is phenomenal.

And what it's great about is it makes

you think.

Nicole Kidman's husband in the show is...

I don't know what his exact...

is the exact background in the show is,

but I think he's like a professor.

He does analytical things about like why

the world ways works the way it does,

why politics work the way they do.

And oftentimes he makes statements that

just make you go,

is that really what's happening in the

world?

Because it makes way too much sense,

but it's also kind of scary.

they deal with topics that we're dealing

with in the world today and that's why

i really really enjoy it um i think

it's underrated for um i think it's

underrated for with the taylor sheridan

shows i think it's up there with the

best of them it is really really great

Um, John George, great show.

Now I'm going to have to go pay

to download season three.

Well, it's only episode one is out.

Um, so there you go.

Uh, Mark Phillips, he was in Yellowstone,

I guess not really a big part though.

Yeah.

He was like the horse trainer,

horse guy in Yellowstone.

Um,

he had like one little run where he

took Jimmy, uh,

down to the four sixes ranch, uh,

taught him more about like the horses and

all of that kind of stuff.

But in Lioness, he plays a major role.

He is the leader of a Delta force

as part of the Army,

and they always seem to come to blows

with the Lioness team.

Because Lioness is CIA,

Taylor Sheridan's group is Army,

and they battle over how strategic they

should be or what strategy they should

use.

So it's really good.

Uh, KDL, uh, got my shirt and stickers.

Many thanks.

My wife even complimented me on how I

looked wearing it.

Dude, I'm telling you,

the shirt makes people look good.

And I've gotten, um,

a couple of people have gotten their

shirts.

Uh, they have said how soft it is,

how comfortable it is.

So I'm getting really good feedback on

which I am so happy about because it

was kind of like a blind buy.

I went with a company, um,

And until they came in, I was really,

really afraid that they weren't going to

be good quality.

But they turned out to be really,

really nice.

So I'm really, really, really,

really happy about that.

I like how tiny Corey is compared to

the Clydesdale on the banner.

Nice touch.

Well, that is real life.

That is an authentic description.

I am a large five foot eleven human

being.

Corey is a very small four foot nine

individual.

I mean five foot four.

Sorry.

Did I say that wrong?

Someone said he had a role in...

So Taylor Sheridan actually started as an

actor.

And...

and then went into writing.

Uh,

so he's been an actor in a lot

of things.

Cause that was really his like precursor

to being who he is today,

but he didn't write sons of anarchy.

Um,

he just may have been in it as

a small role, but, uh, but he's,

I actually,

he is a total cock in lioness and

he plays that role so well,

my wife and I were commenting on it

last night after the show.

Um,

Wayne Short,

I just wish Taylor Sheridan would stop

getting distracted and finish season three

of Landman already.

Wayne, Landman is coming out in the fall.

It comes out every fall.

From what I understand, it's done filming.

It's done.

It's just waiting to come out.

It all comes in order.

You get Lioness, then you get Tulsa King,

and then they're adding Frisco King to

that, and then you get Landman.

Then we'll get the Dutton Ranch.

So you get a little bit of Taylor

Sheridan all year long.

Avera, is Corey really only five-four?

That is practically an adaptive athlete.

I don't know the specific height.

I just know he is shorter than I

am by a pretty stiff margin.

Did you know he wrote the Sicario movies?

I didn't.

I'll have to check those out.

I've heard they're really good.

I've never seen them, Joseph.

I'm going to have to check those out.

I've been interested.

I've had them in a queue before and

just never pulled the trigger.

So I need to check those out.

Wayne Short said,

I read an article that said they haven't

even started filming yet.

Uh, okay.

I'll do research.

I'll do more research, Wayne.

My bad.

Uh, the other thing we watched last night,

if you guys haven't seen it,

the new Will Ferrell show on Netflix

called the Hawk or just Hawk.

Uh, and he's a golfer.

If you just need something silly to watch,

uh,

what i like about it is i lioness

i'm thinking a lot the hawk i don't

have to think at all like i can

go totally brain dead with that one my

wife laughs very hard at the hawk i

i chuckle and i think it's pretty cute

and funny um there's some really funny

parts she like all out laughs belly laughs

at the thing

So we're working our way through some

shows.

My other big favorite show right now is

a show called Ride or Die on Prime,

and it's Hannah Waddingham and the lady

from The Help and Hidden Figures.

Why can't I think of her name off

the top of my head?

But anyway, it's really good.

It's really good, too.

Ken Walters,

I'm so glad I don't watch hours upon

hours of any series at all.

Where do you all find the time for

all these?

I have so much other stuff to do.

At least with podcasts,

I can listen and work.

I don't know.

I do all my things and then at

the end of the night,

that's how I decompress, Ken.

But there are times in the year where

there is no good TV.

So then you kind of catch up on

the stuff that you miss throughout the

year.

Octavia Spencer.

Yes, thank you, Johnny Hayes.

Octavia Spencer and Hannah Waddingham.

It is a really good spy thriller on

Prime.

You should check that out.

Most of the stuff I run on my

second monitor during work.

I do do some of that.

Some days I just can't do the podcast

thing anymore.

Some days I need to escape like the

CrossFit world and just do something that

gets my mind off of.

Lito,

I watched all four seasons of From in

about a week.

Eleven hour flights to and from the US

helped to and now working my way through

silo I've heard silos really good, too.

I have not dove into that one yet

Ted lasso comes out this week season four

of Ted lasso.

That's one of my favorite all-time shows.

I Cannot wait for that to come out

this week,

too speaking of silo that's on Apple TV

uh vicky is saying uh ddsp nomination in

the bucket for people that watch too much

tv we got it

So speaking of podcasts, I sent, oh,

Joseph Ramirez.

Go ahead.

Applying to be CFO.

I know jack about it,

but I couldn't be the worst applicant.

Well, speaking of that,

Barbell Spin just posted a memo from the

chief people's officer of CrossFit and

what they're looking for in a CFO.

If she can pull that up real quick,

like, can you forward to the memo?

Are you able to blow that up Vicki

for me?

Oh, there we go.

But so anyway,

we are hiring our next CFO.

This is a job for someone who wants

to help redefine what's possible and not

just balance the books.

For twenty five years,

CrossFit has proven the world wrong about

who it underestimates.

Our methodology doesn't work because it's

trending.

It works because we spent a quarter

century proving it delivers that efficacy.

That's our bar.

Now we need a financial leader who can

hold it.

And you can go on and read this

yourself on the Barbell Spins Instagram

account.

But what I like about that is they

are saying they want someone that pretty

much knows the methodology,

understands the methodology,

understands what CrossFit is trying to do.

And I like that.

The other thing I wanted to ask you

all is,

And it's been rattling around in my brain

for a day.

Yesterday on our show,

it broke that they were looking for a

CFO.

We also talked yesterday about...

The prize money of the Masters athletes

and adaptive athletes not being released.

Before that,

it was reported that the team money and

individual athlete money was not dispersed

in a way.

Well, it's not dispersed yet,

but it was not announced in a way

that was in congruency with the rule book

and what they had already stated.

Is this a coincidence that all of these

financial decisions and financial

announcements that have not been made or

have been made maybe incorrectly is a

coincidence or a cause and effect of

needing a new CFO?

Do you think that they are related?

in some way because i'm having a really

hard time not thinking that they are

related in some way i did get and

i did get clarification that the prize

money for the masters athletes has to come

from hq

That is not on Legends.

That is not on the Masters group.

That is on HQ.

They are the ones who collected the money

and they are the ones that should be

announcing the prize purse for the Masters

division.

And I did get clarification on that and

can say that with certainty.

If they are related,

they would never admit they messed up.

I'm not saying they would admit anything,

Ed.

I'm just saying that it's pretty odd that

things that should be out there are not

out there,

and all of a sudden now we're hiring

a new CFO.

I didn't even hear we got rid of

the old CFO.

It's just weird.

It's just weird.

i could be totally wrong it could be

that this was the plan all along who

knows but it just it does seem pretty

coincidental um what i do want to be

brought up is the waza teams we wanted

to talk about that as well vicky

So what a blues announced yesterday on

Instagram.

It was a couple of days ago where

we got word that they were doing teams

or camps instead of us versus the world

or North America versus the world.

Now we're doing camps.

They announced yesterday that it's going

to be four different camps.

What four are, are it going to be?

We don't know.

It has not been announced yet.

My speculation and what I put in the

comments was that it's going to be proven

mayhem brute and one unaffiliated camp.

Um,

Yeah, Carolyn and I,

we went in a text chat last night.

She wants it to be like F one,

like team tier, team Adidas, team Nike,

team Jim Reaper, something like that,

which I am not against in the CrossFit

game season.

I think that is something that could spark

the team division in a way that changing

the number of participants and things like

that would not do.

I think that at a place like Waterpalooza

SoCal to get that many different sponsors

in the same building when Jim Reapers is

a sponsor of the overall event would be

practically impossible.

So I feel like while that's a cool

idea for the game season,

it's probably not practical for

Waterpalooza SoCal.

What are your thoughts on who the four

camps will be?

Again, mine are proven, mayhem, brute,

unaffiliated.

Ken Walters, weirdly,

I spent a lot of time at the

games.

RX experience lounge every day with the

CFO,

who is also a head of retail and

special events.

Seemed very excited about the future.

Hope he just got reassigned.

Barry McCockner,

no link to the actual job on her

post either.

the,

you cannot put a link in Instagram just

so you know that, um,

unless you have like some gazillion

followers, you have,

the only place you can put a link

is in your bio.

I believe Dylan confirmed group brute last

night on get with get a glint and

things podcast.

Okay.

I,

I only saw the beginning of that Joseph.

Um,

Oh, Barry says LinkedIn.

LinkedIn post does not have the link.

Yeah,

you definitely want to link your link on

the LinkedIn post.

That's crucial because LinkedIn is a job

website, right?

If you're hiring someone on LinkedIn,

you want it to be done there.

George Wang says,

if we went with sponsored teams,

Rad would be too strong.

Amy Sturtz, Jay Crouch, Madaris, DBE.

Tear would crush them, George.

Sorry.

Um,

Pazley Craig, Craig Pazley, TTT,

Proven Mayhem Brute,

and in an unaffiliated.

They're only doing four.

You can't break the rules, Craig.

You can only do four.

SoCal made the announcement only four.

Yeah, he wasn't.

And he was saying what Carolyn was saying,

that she wants an F-one with sponsored

teams, not camps.

She thinks that would be more fun.

So that's what the rad comment was made

about.

But that is not practical for Waterpalooza

SoCal.

They are a Jim Reapers event with Jim

Reapers being the title sponsor.

Jim Reapers is not going to let other

apparel companies sponsor people within

the sport and get all of the publicity

and marketing from that.

If they did,

they would greatly diminish the amount of

money they would get to be the title

sponsor.

But Amy Kringle's coach said this morning

that Amy Kringle is probably not doing

Wadapalooza SoCal because she's doing WFP

and she's doing Rogue and there's a

holiday in there too for them.

So...

So there's a good chance our champion

won't even be at what a Palooza SoCal.

They would pull a high rocks and not

allow any other brands and photos.

Then the other brands wouldn't

participate.

That's it's a chicken egg thing.

You, if the other brands participated,

Jim Reapers would be pissed and pull their

money.

If they,

if jim reapers was if jim reapers allowed

them and said they couldn't show up in

photos they would the other sponsors

wouldn't even show up so it it would

have to be a different format in how

you paid for the event

Barry says,

everyone DM Kalo your resume since you

have no links.

And Vicky said,

CFO position is also not on the CrossFit

website.

That's great.

I wonder if you go to Indeed or

any of those job matching places,

if you typed CFO CrossFit,

if it would show up.

The only other thing I really have on

the docket today is Flow Elite.

Flow Elite's taking it on the chin pretty

hard this year for putting some stuff

behind a paywall.

And whether you like the paywall or you

don't like the paywall or whatever,

I'm not here to debate that.

But they didn't have anything to do with

the broadcast of the games.

The broadcast was done by third parties.

They just housed it.

They gave the platform where it resides.

That is it.

So they can't be blamed for the quality

of the broadcast or the complaints you

have with the broadcast.

In addition to that,

I started following Flow Elite on

Instagram.

And the entire weekend,

they were marketing the CrossFit Games.

They were marketing the CrossFit Games at

a substantial rate.

Grabbing clips,

showing stuff that was going on.

to me,

those are the pieces we weren't getting

with YouTube.

YouTube was doing nothing to promote the

CrossFit Games.

YouTube's algorithm does nothing to bring

in new customers to a broadcast on their

channel.

They only push that event out to people

who are already fans of the sport.

Where Flow Elite is brand new to this,

they are throwing stuff on their

Instagram.

They're throwing stuff on the main screen

of Flow Elite.

They're promoting the sport heavily over

the weekend.

And that is something we never had before.

They also put money into prizes for the

athletes with the grittiest performance of

the day in all divisions,

which we did not have before.

So while everybody wants to pile on the

hate to flow elite,

they're doing things that we never have

seen before in the sport.

They're promoting it and they're adding

money to the ecosystem.

So I got to say about that,

everybody's going after him pretty hard.

I think they've done some pretty cool

things.

Um,

Scott, I'm sorry,

but people who do not CrossFit are not

watching the games.

Hell,

most people who do CrossFit do not even

watch the games.

I like that you can make the blanket

statement and you can speak for everybody

in the world.

There are people out there that don't even

know the CrossFit games exist.

So maybe a handful of people saw something

on Flow Elite and thought, wow,

that looks pretty cool.

Let me check it out.

I don't think you can make blanket

statements like that.

That is basically giving up and saying

that there's a small niche of people that

watch it and nobody else ever will.

That's not a world I want to live

in.

I want to live in a world where

we try to take advantage of opportunities

that exist.

And we work hard to try to attract

new people to the methodology and the

sport.

Giving up is not the answer.

Ed says, we can all make jokes,

but the CFO role is vital to move

CrossFit forward, satisfies Burke,

but also helps the community.

I hope so.

Meredith says, heck,

I don't do CrossFit and I watch the

games.

We do exist.

Thank you.

Barry McOchner,

I watched Slippery Stairs on ESPN,

the Ocho, and now I'm a fan.

I watched the same thing, Barry.

I was rolling at these idiots trying to

run up Slippery Stairs.

And I think they get to,

people throw balls and stuff at them too.

Avera,

there's a small niche of people who watch

it and most nobody else in the world

ever will.

Again,

I don't want to live in your world.

That is such a pessimistic view of things.

Why do we have marketing?

That is the world.

Day two, he spin picks winner.

I remember when my dad told me a

few years ago they had watched the games.

We never talked about CrossFit,

and he didn't do it, but he watched.

There you go.

Uh, barbell spin, slippery stairs.

Dave avoided running up and down the

stairs outside the SAP center because it

was too dangerous.

Spin.

If you have not seen slippery stair racing

on the Ocho,

it is definitely worth a fifteen minute

watch.

George Wang,

ninety percent of my CrossFit gym didn't

even know the games were going on last

week.

And whose fault is that?

Whose fault is that?

All the media around CrossFit are inside

media.

None of us are talking about it outside

of the bubble that we live in.

You're never going to attract new people

in if you stay inside the bubble.

Flow Elite is going outside the bubble.

Whether you like it or not,

whether you like the paywall or not,

it is outside the bubble.

It's the only way you're going to get

new people in at all is to go

outside that bubble.

The spin says twenty twenty five slippery

stairs is on ESPN's YouTube and here and

our producers pulled it up.

Here we go.

Yeah,

you got to get to the top and

ring the bell.

The one I watched,

they were throwing balls at the people.

That looks like a team stair climb.

There we go.

That's the stuff you there's the balls.

I saw the balls.

I knew there were balls.

And the competitors are throwing more

water on the stairs, which is brilliant.

Barry says they need that at the games.

Yeah, Mark,

Vicky has the biggest mouse cursor I have

ever seen.

Meg is late.

We went back to the normal time just

for you, Meg.

So you didn't get stuck in nap time

and then you show up late.

What the hell?

Um,

this looks like it should be on Japanese

TV.

It does.

It really is worth like,

if you just want to laugh a little

bit, uh, Mark, that's where it started.

Just like Ninja warrior.

Um, uh,

Meg is in the five-sided puzzle palace.

So time doesn't exist here.

uh if i turned on slippery stairs by

accident i'd keep it on yeah that's what

happened to me my wife and i were

flipping around hit the ocho one day and

we ended up watching slippery stairs um

the last thing i wanted to throw up

there is vicky if you could throw up

the podcast top earners

This is the top earner in podcasts.

Joe Rogan makes eighty two million dollars

a year.

Can you believe that?

Can you believe that?

If you cycle to twentieth,

I the bummer for me is.

I felt like twenty third, like just below.

Just below.

Spin was number six.

This money is absurd.

My,

my two dollars and fifty cents a month

doesn't even,

doesn't even like put a blip on the,

the podcast list.

Absurd.

Twentieth, eighteen million dollars.

Wow, what a world we live in.

Get a microphone.

Talk about shit.

Make some money.

Crazy.

Tessa says, well,

spend no more gold coins for you.

And speaking of saving money.

You can save money when you buy Thirdsy.

That is Thirdsy.com backslash Jazzy at

checkout or Jazzy at the whatever.

Thirdsy.com backslash Jazzy.

Jazzy at checkout gets you fifteen percent

off your order.

Best sleep and recovery tool in the

business.

If I didn't have it,

I would be dog tired every single day

and I am not.

So...

Tessa says,

there are teenagers making huge coin on

TikTok.

It is a wild world we live in.

Wild world.

So with that, I'm going to go.

I've got to apply for the CFO position

if I can find a link anywhere on

the internets.

And don't forget to like and subscribe to

the channel.

For those of you who haven't got your

shirts yet,

the feedback has been tremendous.

Super soft, good fits.

That's what we're getting so far.

A bunch of them have been delivered

yesterday and today,

and there are still opportunities to do

so.

I took inventory,

so I know where we're at.

We're good on sizes for now.

But, thirty-two dollars,

that includes shipping in the U.S.,

Cash App, Venmo,

right there on the screen, QR codes,

or my name on those apps is below.

Just put your name, address,

and size in the memo section,

and we'll get those out to you.

I'm going to do another shipment tonight,

so another batch will go out tonight.

Jody asks where I got the graphic on

top podcasters.

It was in my Instagram feed.

I can shoot it over to you, Jody,

if you'd like.

Yes, Daniel, yours is in the mail.

Yours went out Sunday night.

I don't know when you're due to get

it, but it should be there soon.

Um, with that and Daniel,

you probably missed the beginning when we

announced that we're going to start doing

the dumb, dumb,

stupid pants award of the week.

We'll take nominees in the comments on

YouTube.

Just explain why that person or that event

did, did,

deserves the dumb, dumb,

stupid pants award.

We will continue to give nominees

ourselves throughout the week and we'll,

um,

we'll put them up on a poll on

Friday to hand out our dumb, dumb,

stupid pants award of the week.

With that,

I hope you have a great rest of

your day.

We will be back tomorrow with lunch with

the Clydesdale and hopefully the Cowboy.

You wouldn't wait to get to the editing

room to jazz me up.

I'm already jazzy.

Getting jazzy, getting jazzy,

getting jazzy.

Lunch with the Clydesdale cowboy in the

saddle.

Lunch with the Clydesdale cowboy in the

saddle.

Talking to reps,

real life strength in the battle.

From the gym to the screen, yeah,

we cover it all.

midday motivation every time you press

call lunch with the glides they'll cowboy
