At Biola’s Afterdark chapel on Jan. 20, Associate Professor of Theology Dr. Thaddeus Williams spoke on what abortion should mean to christians, and reminded us of our calling to Advocate for love and fruitfully spreading our generation. Dr. Williams encouraged the audience to bring Gospel grace to those impacted by abortion, highlighting Jesus as the ultimate solution.

Spring semester started off fast and with that, the opportunity for spring intramural sports are here. Intramural sports give students the opportunity to meet new people alongside the thrill of the game.

Ella Flowers highlighted the return of spring intramural sports, emphasizing the ways students can connect and build community through friendly competition. Flowers encouraged students to embrace fellowship and enjoy the thrill of the game, noting that intramurals provide opportunities to meet new people while having fun.

That’s all for last week’s headlines. Now, let’s dive into what’s happening this week at Biola.

Biola Men’s and Women’s Basketball will host back-to-back PacWest Conference home games at Chase Gymnasium, facing Chaminade on Monday, Hawaii Hilo on Thursday, and Menlo on Saturday. All the Women’s games will take place from 5:30 to 7:30pm and the Men’s game will take place from 7:30 to 9pm. This event is free to attend for all.

The 2026 Woven Conference will be taking place tonight at 7 p.m. at Andrews Banquet Room. This women’s leadership conference will be hosting two speakers: Cammie Dunaway, an executive coach and a former Executive Vice President of Nintendo, and Nicole Panzovski, Manager of Technology Sourcing at Netflix. This event is free for all students.

This Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the Lancing Recital Hall, the Biola Opera presents “The Merry Widow.” Enter into scenes of Paris as a wealthy widow and a count engage in charming and witty romantic interactions as they try to save a nation from bankruptcy. This operetta is being performed only once, so make sure to get your tickets now. Tickets for students are discounted at the price of $10.

This Friday and Saturday, Alumni Engagement is hosting “Homecoming 2026”. This alumni reunion party is primarily for alumni, but students are welcome to attend all the events listed on the event page. Most events are free to attend, but some will require paid tickets.
