Are you a woman over 50 who's ready to rediscover your faith, purpose, and peace in this season of life?

Welcome to the word woman podcast where faith wisdom and purpose meet for Christian women just like you I'm your host Victoria and each week we'll open God's Word together to find real encouragement for real life in the quiet moments the waiting season and everything in between Whether you're starting something new learning to slow down or simply seeking more of God in your everyday life

This is your safe space to grow because even now your story still matters and God is still using you. So grab a cup of tea and in my case, a cup of coffee and let's get started. At some point in life, many of us look back and ask, what was all that for? The years that felt quiet, the seasons that felt empty, the moments where life didn't look the way we thought it would. Scripture calls these places

the wilderness, not a punishment, not abandonment, but a place of formation. In Deuteronomy 8-2, Moses reminds the people, remember how the Lord your God led you all the way in the wilderness these 40 years to humble and test you in order to know what was in your heart. The wilderness isn't where your story pauses.

It's where it deepens. When you're in the wilderness, it feels endless. But in hindsight, it becomes a chapter one that explains everything that came after. Israel spent 40 years in the wilderness, yet it wasn't the destination. It was preparation. Exodus 1635 says, they wandered until they reached the promised land. Your story works the same way.

The wilderness slows you down, strips away distractions, reveals what you're trusting. In Hosea 2.14, God says, therefore I am now going to allure her. I will lead her into the wilderness and speak tenderly to her. God speaks most clearly when the noise is gone. In the wilderness,

titles falls away. You're no longer defined by your job, your roles, your productivity, other people's expectations. Jesus himself experienced this. In Matthew 4, 1 and 2, Jesus was led into the wilderness before beginning his public ministry. Why? Because identity must be settled

before assignment. The wilderness asks hard questions. Who am I when no one is applauding? Who am I when life is quiet? Who am I when outcomes are uncertain? Psalms 46 and 10 says, be still and know that I am God. Stillness reveals truth. Your life story is not defined by events.

It's defined by transformation. Ask yourself, what did I learn about God? What did I learn about myself? What changed in me during that season? In James 1, 2 through 4, we're told, consider it pure joy whenever you face trials because the testing of your faith produces perseverance. The wilderness teaches perseverance

Patience, humility, and trust. Those lessons are plot points in your story. They explain why you respond differently now, why your compassion runs deep, why your faith is quieter but stronger. Sometimes the wilderness isn't about where you are, it's about where you were headed.

Paul spent years in obscurity after his dramatic conversion. Galatians 1, 17-18 tells us he went away before stepping into public ministry. God often pulls us back before moving us forward. Proverbs 16-9 says, in their hearts, humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.

Your wilderness seasons may have redirected your priorities, softened your heart, changed your definition of success. That's not delay. That's divine editing. Your life story isn't always clear when you're living it. It becomes visible in reflection. In Psalm 77, 11 and 12, the Psalmist says, I will remember the deeds of the Lord.

I will consider all your works and meditate on all your mighty deeds. When you look back with God, patterns emerge, repeated themes, recurring lessons, consistent grace. What once felt random begins to feel intentional. God was always writing even when you couldn't read the page. The wilderness is not where your story ends.

It's where your voice gains authority. Isaiah 43 and two promises, when you pass through the waters, I will be with you. Notice it says when, not if. Your story includes survival, endurance, God's faithfulness. And one day someone will recognize themselves in your story and find hope.

Praise God. Your life is not of collections of mistakes or missed chances. It's a story written by a faithful and loving God. The wilderness seasons didn't erase your purpose. It revealed it. So if you're still standing, God is still writing. And the chapters you didn't understand at the time may be the very ones that explain who you are today.
