you know I want to know as much information about them because I'm trying to protect my family so how about basic ID checks to make sure that Peter is Peter
if they're babysitting your kids you definitely need to make sure your kids are safe
they just feel like those are good people and they're suitable for their job we identify the interests of an individual based on their social media activities and it's a true story
[Music] hi everybody I'm Tony and this is Dave welcome to Ask Social Profiler let's talk about something that affects every family at some point in time allowing strangers into your house we're talking nannies caretakers contractors even dog walkers do you think that most families and most people do sufficient background checks on those individuals before they let them into their homes so Tony have you allowed contractors into your house that you feel may not have been fully vetted i think I did such as did the most of people because in most of cases we hire people due to recommendations from our friends who also did not v them they just feel like those are good people and they're suitable for their job but it does not necessarily mean they're safe so how about basic ID checks to make sure that Peter is Peter and Paul is Paul and what's the last time you really had a indepth interview with somebody you allow in your house i'm talking about private hires so a standard background check would typically handle or would identify if the person is who they say they are but how would you identify the nature and the character of that individual you know do you think most companies actually go out and talk to people and measure their interests or their personality or their character or the nature of the individual before they hire them what we do at social profiler is we identify the interests of an individual based on their social media activities what they like and who they follow and we identify an interest profile which consists of over 10,000 meta categories and over 300,000 categories we're able to identify these interests and compare them to the average user for the platform in the US whether it's Instagram Facebook X or Tik Tok this is a process that has never existed before this is cutting new technology and we're glad to bring it to you today [Music] have you ever hired a company or person to work in your home or business and later regretted it and why
yes they just didn't work very hard and I never So yeah when you hire people there's always regrets if they're babysitting your kids you definitely need to make sure your kids are safe right
yeah a couple times just found that they were like you know scandaly clad women and
when I was in college living with a bunch of roommates that didn't give a [ __ ] about our lawn we hired a lawn care service to come and it wasn't just our lawn it was our whole backyard and they did a shitty job cleaning up everything led to a bunch of stuff and so at the end of the day um we were trying to haggle prices and stuff too and that was just a bad experience [Music] so how many people which are not part of your family you have at your house on weekly basis you know at least three or four sometimes even more I think I have a little bit more than that cuz they normally gardeners they normally come in crowds sometimes it's new people every week which is a little bit concerning plus nannies plus cleaning personnel well you know I think what the the key to this whole topic IC is that everybody has people coming in and out of their lives that they may want to know more information about especially if they're interacting with my children or my grandparents you know I want to know as much information about them because I'm trying to protect my family and I have a story for you uh we used to have a nanny she was from very religious family at least she say so her dad was a preacher but I once had to pick her up from her house because she was not able to drive because as she say they were partying hard till like 3:00 a.m and it's a true story and her sister broke the leg at the nightclub so she
Yeah so she had to spend the night at the hospital basically at trauma center and and they only were down and exhausted by 8:00 a.m and that's when we were supposed to like take off already with my wife so so I had to drive pick her up you know listen to that wonderful story that's a perfect example that they might not know who they really are all I knew that she is from very strict religious family i was really concerned if she's going to be all right if my kids cuz she did not look like very well rested this
right well no no but to your point it's not only about safety i would also say it's about compatibility i want people who have the same interests that I do and ultimately what will turn out to be the same values or the same character as I do interacting with the people I love yeah that's true or at least they should line up with the profession with exact you know service they providing so I would rather prefer my nanny be into educational activity rather than nightclubs alcohol drugs and stuff everybody has a right to do whatever they want in their free time but if it makes say like significant amount of their interests that might be a concern 60% of the people who use social media has misrepresented themselves in some way shape or form whether it's in the form of a resume or CV or whether it's more personal or social [Music] when evaluating a person to work in your home what's more important personal recommendations or background checks and why
i think both are helpful but I think personal recommendations would probably be more important to me than there are social media but I think both could be helpful
okay
it's tricky i feel like both because of certain things you know if I'm looking if somebody has like a criminal past you know of course I'm going to look at their background check but if I'm just trying to see what they're about I'm going to go check their Instagram
right
to see if they have any strong ideological positions or affiliations or something like that and I think personal recommendations just because you have if it's somebody you trust then you have a better reliability on that recommendation
i feel like the recommendations or references would be a huge thing but also checking somebody's social media again would be good just because like if I'm going to leave my kid with you I probably want to know a little bit about like you on the other side of just watching my kid or babysitting
what [Music] so Tony what do you think's more important personal recommendation or background checks i think it's chicken and egg like both are important and what comes first doesn't matter in this case a standard background check like criminal records bankruptcies might be traffic tickets might be not those can include information that's decades old that may no longer be current or you know people can change over time to me I think a personal recommendation that just gets people in the door if somebody's recommended somebody else to me based on their good experiences and that means I'm willing to talk to the person but then you've got to do the background check you start with the standard background check but absolutely include social media research social media background checks are a key to identifying someone's personal interests that's what Social Profiler does we identify somebody's personal interests based on who they like and what they follow there are no other companies that do it the way that we do all the things we do are statistically valid and we stand by all of our reporting [Music]
hey hey hey
