Brilliance Minute

Creating meaningful work is only the beginning.

In this Brilliance Minute, I reflect on why expertise reaches its greatest value not at the moment it is created, but each time it is discovered by someone who needs it. We explore the difference between publishing and discoverability, and why building work that remains findable may be one of the most important shifts experts can make in the age of AI-assisted search and evergreen knowledge.

This idea connects closely to my work on Create Discoverability That Compounds.

What is Brilliance Minute?

One powerful idea. Under five minutes.
Brilliance Minute explores what it takes to become recognizable for your ideas in a noisy digital world. Each week, you'll get a concise insight on discoverability, content resonance, authority, and building a body of work that compounds over time.

The Value of Expertise Is Realized Through Discoverability

One of the biggest assumptions we carry is that creating something valuable is enough.
We imagine that once the work exists, the value is somehow guaranteed. Write the article. Record the podcast. Finish the book. Build the course. Then move on to the next thing.

But I've been noticing something different.

Expertise doesn't become valuable simply because it exists. It becomes valuable when people can continue finding it.

Think about how many remarkable ideas disappear. Not because they lacked insight, but because they became difficult to discover. They solved a real problem. They helped people. Yet over time they quietly slipped beneath newer posts, changing algorithms, and the constant pressure to create again.

Meanwhile, other ideas continue working for years.

The difference isn't always quality.
It's discoverability.

When someone searches for an answer six months from now, or two years from now, can your work still meet them? Can it still help? Can it still introduce them to the way you think?

That's a different way of measuring value.

It shifts the focus from producing more to creating work that remains available.

Perhaps expertise isn't fully expressed at the moment we create it.

Perhaps it reaches its full value every time someone discovers it exactly when they need it.
