Full show transcript:
It's the Friday show.
I was just reading that there has been one Tinder match in Antarctica. One? One. There was an American scientist who used Tinder in 2013. He was in Antarctica at the time. Okay.
And he found a female scientist that was only a 45 minute helicopter ride away. Okay. And they both swiped right. Okay. But she left Antarctica the day after they met up.
I can't even be on the same continent as you.
I don't necessarily know If the meetup went poorly, or if she just left because she had a different mission.
Oh yeah, it was the end of her time on Antarctica. Uh wow. I mean, look, they got a lot of restaurants there.
Like I know. Where do you where do you go in Antarctica?
Like, let's go ahead and have some backpacking meals and then uh and then we'll take off. I mean, uh, there are some small establishments. I don't know if you can call them towns, but there are places. I mean, almost all of it is scientific research facility, I would assume. But okay, here's what I know. Okay.
Uh it fizzled out due to logistics and it caused a minor administrative headache.
Oh, because you have to disclose that they're dating.
So they met up for a brief hug on a first date.
Oh.
And then ultimately just went their separate ways. Yeah. They did cross paths l later in the season, but they were both busy with the end of season wrap-up tasks. Uh-huh. So they didn't have time for romance.
But they passed each other and went.
And then apparently this was like heavily hyped on the internet. Okay. But they the male scientist said that it was entirely unromantic and he was more interested in unwinding after a tough field season. Huh. Okie doke. Well. Cool. Cool, cool, cool. Ice cold.
Yeah, that's that's pretty ice cold. Uh, if you're like, yeah, this isn't working out, and I'm just gonna leave the continent. But good luck with everything. Hope you like your science goes well. That's pretty cool. Yeah. Well, on that note, shall we start today's show? This is the Friday show, baby.
It's a Friday show. Hey, good morning. What's up? I thought I'd start with some good news if you're good with that.
I'm ready. So there's a utility crew in Southern California that had to save a stranded raccoon. Uh huh. Yeah, it apparently had spent two days stuck at the top of a power pole. Oh no.
I know. And again, this is in Southern California, so it is hot, and this raccoon is stuck on top of a power pole in all that heat. This was in Santa Ana, California. They had tried for 48 hours. Neighbors watching this raccoon had tried for 48 hours uh to lure the hungry thirsty raccoon down from the pole. Eventually they said, we better call somebody. So they called the power company, and a couple of the guys were sent to save the day. Mark and Omar showed up. Uh Omar saved the day.
That's right. They got their bucket truck out. Omar secured uh the ground. Mark went up in the bucket. Uh he said, I just kind of started talking to the raccoon, and I let him know that I'm uh no threat, and I tried to move slowly toward him, and uh that face-to-face, heart-to-heart chat with the raccoon worked.
He made a good choice and he safely scooted down the pole by itself. Really? Yeah. I thought he was gonna have to pick up the raccoon, but apparently it was like, no, let's let's go down the pole.
That'll be fine. And the worried neighbors were then relieved because the raccoon was safely on the ground and back to living its normal life. Uh and uh Mark and Omar save the day. Mark said, uh, I'm a big animal lover, and this is something I will not soon forget.
So nice. Now he's back to digging through the trash. That's exactly right. Now he's looking for the next pole he can climb and sit on for two days because he was trying to like do a world raccoon record. But you know, that's all right. Two days stands as the record for how long a raccoon can stay on top of a pole. Good story. Yeah. It's good news this morning.
Okay, sometimes there's inventions that are amazing. Okay, like the escalator. Yeah. Moving stairs, you know. Like a toaster. Okay. Great invention. Sure. Moving moving stairs. A bread cooker. Okay, here's some inventions that I want you to decide if they should stay or go. Okay. A selfie toaster. This is a toaster that burns an image of your face. Doesn't need to exist. Onto your toast. No.
It doesn't need to exist. And uh part of that is uh because we uh uh don't need it, but also it's only going to toast where your face is, or is it only going to toast everything but your face?
No, I think it's gonna toast everything, but your face is untoasted bread. No, it has a little bit darker bread.
That's toasting your face, which means the rest of the bread is gonna be untoasted. I'm gonna say it's probably toasting the whole bread and your face is untoasted. We don't need that. I kinda do. No, you don't.
I just want to try it once. I want to see what my face looks like toasted. So borrow somebody's. I know that's what it's doesn't need to exist.
We don't need that. Okay.
How about an ostrich pillow? What is that? This is a giant pillow that you put your head inside to take a nap. Oh, I've seen that. It has openings for your nose, mouth, and hands. Yeah, I've seen that. And it's designed to block out light and distraction.
I think I saw that in like the sharper image catalog on an airplane once. Okay. No. Okay. That's uh, have you seen that um that uh headache thing you can pull down over your head? Oh, yeah. And you can heat it up, or you can put it in the freezer and keep it cool, but yeah, it's like a big thick silicone swim cap looking thing, but it covers up your eyes and has a little thing for your nose, so it looks like an oversized beanie that you put on. That should exist. The ostrich head thing, no. It's a pillow. Sure is.
How about a motorized ice cream cone? No. It holds and rotates your ice cream, so you can yourself manually turn the cone.
Quit being lazy. What are these inventions? These are terrible.
Uh, brainwave cat ears.
Brainwave cat ears. Is this supposed to let you talk to your cat through brain waves?
Uh no. It's electronic cat ears that you wear in your head that use brainwave sensors to make the ears move. When you're focused, the ears perk up. When you relaxed, they droop.
Focused? No, I got it. Why? Cause No. if I worked with somebody and they were wearing these electronic cat ears so that they could say, Look how focused I am. See, my ears are perked up. I'd come on, dude.
What about some scissor pizzas scissor pizza scissors? I've seen those. No. Giant scissors specifically designed for cutting.
Just use a pizza cutter. It's already existing.
But the bottom blade also works like a spatula.
I've seen it. It it's terrible.
You hate all of these inventions? Yeah, I do. Wow.
Do you want to know why I don't like those pizza scissors? Why? Because uh have you ever cut a pizza? No. Yes, you have with a pizza cutter. You have cut a pizza in your life.
Yeah. You worked at a pizza place. You haven't cut a pizza. Come on. You you go across in a straight line and you got half a pizza, right? Yes. Do that with scissors.
Okay. That are half a spatula. So there's a triangle of whatever stainless steel, and then the blade moves like this on the side of all that plate. You're gonna cut a pizza in half? Forget about it. Get a pizza cutter and do it right. Or get one of those big rockin' knives, you know. What is this? I don't care for these inventions. They're terrible.
I like when you get all worked up. It's funny. It makes me Friday morning.
You give me all sweaty. All right.
What else you got? That's it. That's all I got.
Put all of that in the garbage.
Oh, wait. Here's a garbage can invention. Oh, what is it? Nothing. I couldn't think of anything funny.
It's a boogly eye garbage can.
It's too early.
That laughs when you close the lid because it loves garbage. We don't need that either. Every time you put garbage in, it goes, oh, thank you. See? Terrible invention.
Yeah, that one is.
Yeah, But it'll hold all that other stuff that you need to throw away. Oh, thank you.
You imagine every time you threw something away. That noise. It's got big boogly eyes on it. And it goes, oh, thank you.
Yeah, that's really bad invention.
You're bad at it. And you put that in a public place. All the whole place is full of them. You go to the mall, and every garbage can is one of those. And you just hear them going off.
You should not be an inventor. Why?
I could invent all this other stuff that's just bad.
You didn't come up with those ideas, though. I like the toaster one. You want your face on toast. Yeah, kinda. Okay. Have you seen those TikTok trends where it's a couple and the woman is in the passenger seat, and she's like, I asked for a kind, hardworking, caring, strong husband. And then she says, I wonder what he asked for.
I saw another one yesterday that said. I married somebody who is so nice and takes care of me and is kind and helpful. And then I realized maybe I'm the problem.
These are very interesting, insightful moments.
So what'd you wish for? Oh, my whole life.
Just just the one that would love me the most.
That's it. Winner.
Winner chicken dinner. Like, hey, I really hope I get a good one. Whatever, whatever that looks like. Make sure it's a good one. And then I met you and I went, this is it, huh? That's the one. Nah, I have no idea.
I I don't know that uh I necessarily thought about that much. I know that when you and I met, it was instant lightning bolt. Huge.
Two worlds collided. Um it was fun. I I was very excited when I met you. So that's uh that's good. Like we clicked right away. Yeah. Uh but I don't know that I spent a lot of time going, hmm, I wonder what she'll be.
No, I understand that. Like you probably didn't have like you probably weren't doing that like every night out your window, like Yeah.
Every night out my window. Like from my basement apartment. Looking up at dirt. Oh maybe.
But there's like certain qualifications that you're like, oh, I kind of wish that my husband has this, or I kind of wish that my wife has this.
Honestly, honestly, I never really thought about it. Really? Okay. I really like I cannot think of a time where I was like, I should make a list of qualities I hope my future partner had. I don't think I thought about it once.
You weren't sitting there like, oh, I really hope she makes me dinner every night.
No, I had Tony Hawk Pro Skater to play. I was busy.
Okay, good.
No, you didn't get it. I wasn't like, she better, she better take off my boots. And she's gonna have to clean. And no. She better be into fishing. Like everything's an evolution. And I think we just kind of go through all that together. But I I knew when I met you that I was like, this one. This one right here is something special. Don't let this one go. I'm going to lasso This one. Yeah. Keep this one around.
Yeah, you can't. I mean, there were there were throngs of people fighting. Throngs. Yeah. Huh.
I didn't know that I had beat throngs of people. Yeah, you to win your love.
Yeah. You didn't see the line. What the line? Yeah, the line of dudes that were like, wait, wait. Oh, maybe you missed it. Oh. There were a lot. There were. Name them. No. Never mind.
Changed my mind. I don't want to hear a bunch of names that you just thought of. I don't have time for that. Oh, Tony Stark. Tony Stark. Iron Man. Yeah, right. Come on. Bruce Banner. The Hulk who you really dislike.
No, they weren't like superheroes. That was just their name. No, it wasn't. Name another one. Uh. What's his name? I can't think of another.
You can't think of another Avenger.
No, it's Superman's name. Clark? Clark. Yeah. Clark. Clark. Kent. Yeah. He was one. Okay. These. Yeah, these dudes were like, Peter. Yeah. Parker. Peter Parker. Yeah. You got any more? No. Nope. Four. There were four. Wow.
And they were all superheroes, and I won. Look at Miko. Well, it wasn't too long ago that we uh mourned the loss of Jackie the big bear valley bald eagle. Uh super, super sad.
Really sad. Um There's a there's a new lady in town. I've seen this. Have you?
Yes. So K D one is the number on the band uh on this eagle's foot. So it's a it's a tracked eagle called K D1. Uh the internet has started calling the eagle Katie.
K-A-Y-D-E-E Katie. Okay. And uh apparently it is uh time for some interior redecorating at the nest. Katie has been sort of making it home, moving sticks around and kind of checking things out, being real comfortable in there. Shadow uh has been seen flying around. Uh he has uh brought fish to Katie.
Whoa. So they've seen this happen. There's a lot of courtship happening between these two. Um she's got that collar on her foot, so maybe that's an attractive thing where Shadow's like, you got jewelry. I don't know. That was Quake Shadow.
That was really quick shadow.
Like, look, this is this is nature, right? Like she got in a fight. I think he probably knew that because those other eagles were in the territory, those uh subadult uh eagles. Um and so I think he probably saw all of that go down, and then she disappeared. Right, right. So he probably is left to assume that she's gone. And nature doing what nature does.
He's like, Well, I gotta reproduce, so I'm gonna find another female eagle. Here we go. And then Katie entered the territory, which I thought was a strange timing. Katie entered the chat. Yeah. Katie's entered the chat. And now they're uh getting ready to shack up in the nest in the Big Bear Valley nest.
It's interesting that they would I don't know. I guess I would assumed that was Jackie's nest and not Shadow's nest. And I know that he It was but she's not around.
No, I get that. And they're still in that vicinity. So I assume because Katie moved into that direct vicinity that now they need to find somewhere, and he's like, I know spot.
I wonder if Jackie had come back, like she got rehabilitated. That's a good question. And like maybe Katie had already moved into the nest. Right. Like how that would all go down.
Yeah, if they were able to rehab her and then re-release her. I wonder if they because they would be monitoring this behavior, if she would have moved in, if they would have relocated her somewhere else. Katie. No, if they would have relocated Jackie somewhere else.
But don't Jackie's on the show. I understand.
Jackie was born in that nest. Was she really? Yeah. She was one of the very first eaglets to be on the camera. Oh.
Yeah. I didn't know that. That's so sweet. It is very much. Yeah. Anyway. Well, look.
Katie is in town.
I can't be mad at Shadow because you gotta life has to find a way. And you got business to take care of. And she seems like a nice eagle.
She's got a very identifiable features. She's got like a dark spot on her head. Yeah, but I remember. And she's got a little more ruffles in her feathers.
I was reading that that's because she's not fully mature yet.
Oh, she's a younger woman. Shadow, you dog. That's the latest that I know about anyway. And the Big Bear Valley Eagle Nest on YouTube. There we go. Yeah. Little bit of drama.
We did a little school shopping last night. Yeah, back to school. With our only child still remaining in school. And she's gonna be a junior. I know. Isn't that wild? Yes. Like, I don't know how that happened. I don't know how that happened.
Wasn't she just in kindergarten? Yes. Like what are we doing? I don't know. We have we have an adult child, and we have a like junior high school child. Like, what is going on? I don't know.
It's fun shopping with a teenager or a girl.
I like how you were working on your sign language last night to say I don't like shopping. You were like, no, this needs to stop. Like I've had enough. Um what is it about the shopping that you dislike? Is it just the amount of time walking around looking at stuff? Yes. I so it's just shopping. You just don't want to.
It's fun for me. I I think it's boring to just look at stuff. Uh-huh. I don't like it. And then most of the time when I want something, I go, well, I can't afford that. Or I already have something similar. I don't need to buy that. And it just the amount of stuff sometimes makes me kind of depressed.
Now, when you say stuff, you just mean like the amount of things that exist that people can buy. Yes. I see.
And the amount of stuff that exists that people don't necessarily need.
Yeah, like just consumer scissors.
In general, kind of goes.
You get a little ick. Yeah. So it's it's overwhelming. Here's the thing that I've noticed about stores. Like if it's a specialty shop that I'm going into, um, like if I'm going specifically to the fly shop, for example. Like I know I'm going in there because I need uh supplies or whatever, and I'll browse around while I'm in the shop. Yeah. That's what that shop is for.
If I go to a bakery, I'm there to get a sandwich or I'm there to get, you know, uh some sort of pastries or breads or whatever. So it's specialized. It's exactly what it is. You go into the big box retail, and there's so much stuff that I go like, well, I can look at this, and what I end up doing is just shopping for deals. Like I end up looking just for like, is something on clearance that I would I would be willing to buy because it's such a good deal. It's nothing that I actually need. No, but it could be something where I'm like this hundreds of dollars thing is on clearance for a portion of how much it normally costs. That's what I end up shopping for. Yeah. And then I don't find anything and I'm like, well, I'm done. Because I don't want to wander the aisles like that.
But that's weird because you normally do like to wander the aisles.
It's the big box retail stuff that really is bugging me lately. Ah interesting. Like I I'll go look at like clothes. Because you Like, okay. But I like I I don't need stuff right now. Like I'm not I'm not out there like I'm going shopping, because I just need to shop.
No, there are people who do
like our daughter is one of them. And I go, oh. I know. And and I enjoy shopping. Like for what it's worth. Like I like, like if we go to another town, like there. I'll go to a Sierra and wander around a Sierra for a good amount of time.
Yes, you will. Like that's fine. I can go to like, but it's a store I don't have access to all the time. Even then I go see what they've got going on.
No, thanks. I'd rather do something else. But our daughter has been begging us to go shopping for a long time for some new school clothes. So we did I finally we had some time. I said, let's go do this. And I rallied up my motivation. Yeah. And we went. And it wasn't bad. I found a couple of things like new clothes that I was like, this actually could be cute. Yeah.
And I even went to try them on the show. I know, which you don't do. Even more than shopping. Right. I'm glad you did. I didn't end up buying them.
I know, but you tried on different stuff. Like that's the thing about trying stuff on. Like if I'm gonna go out and I'm like, I'm gonna go look for some new clothes. I don't mind trying some stuff on and being like, is this a look I could pull off? And then I go, no, I don't know why they put that on a mannequin, because that is not for me. That is not a look for me.
How come it always looks so cute on the mannequin? And then you take it and try it on and you go, oh, that's not true.
Because not every not everything's made for everybody shape and type. That's all. The mannequins way taller. Yeah. And then you're like, oh, this is gonna look so good. And then you go, not on my short little frame. So no. I get it.
Anyway, we gotta do more shopping, apparently. We do? Yeah. You didn't hear that part?
No, I missed that. I thought we were done. No. Oh.
She wants to go to a couple of other stores. And I went, oh. Great. Okay. Do you want to just take her? You don't have to come. No, you take her.
No. You just said you don't have to come, followed by you take her in the same sentence.
Well, I said you don't have to come. And then you said, Do you want to just take her? Yeah. And that's not fair. You take her. She can take herself. She can drive.
This is true. And I think she was talking about doing some of that today. Oh, she should. I know. Take that. She was like, I'm gonna go to the mall and I'm gonna go here. And I'm like, yes, please.
The mall is the last place I want to go. Please don't let me go to the mall. Why? Because I hate it. It's shops. I hate shopping.
But it's it's just one shop after another in a line.
What part of I don't like shopping do you not understand? What are you saying? Going from shop to shop to shop. What is it? Oh, what do you say? saying? You love it. Okay, so Frozen 3 is about to come out.
I don't know that it's about to come out. Do we have a release date? Oh, you know. You know. Did you watch much of the footage from the D23? No. Okay. It comes out in 2027. Um, it's expected to come out uh around Thanksgiving next year.
Oh, okay. Yeah, November 24th. Okay, 2027. Okay. There's a lot of videos that I've been seeing where it's like a mom who's taking her teenage daughter, and it says, How do I explain to my daughter that when I take this teenager to see throws frozen three? Frozen free.
Did you say throzen free? What in the world? When you take your teenager to see Frozen Three. Yeah, you got it. Yeah.
That I'm actually taking this girl. And it's their little daughter. Yeah.
These videos have been tearing me. I know it. Like I saw one, and we've been like my algorithm has been full of college drop-offs. And I got a I can't watch them. But this one uh video said uh, you know, this is this is who I'm dropping off, and my daughter thinks this is who I'm dropping off at college. Uh, but really, this is who I'm dropping off, and it's hers like a little princess dress wearing.
That's these frozen girls too. Oh my gosh, man, this trend.
So I sent it to Emory. I sent that video to Emery, and she goes, Did I really like Frozen that much? And I went, Are you kidding?
Is she trying to gatekeep being cool? Like she's like no. I didn't really like Five Nights at Freddy's that much.
The first frozen came out when she was three or four. Yeah. And yes, she loved it that much. No. So don't tell me you didn't.
Like you could just do the knock and she would start singing it. Well, anybody could do that.
I mean, she was in an Elsa dress on repeat every day. I think that thing got ripped because she had worn it so much. Oh, yeah. I don't know how many times I watched it. Uh all the time. There were dirt stains that never came out. Right. So don't tell me that you didn't like frozen that much. Yeah.
Even though I tried my very hardest to try and convince her that Anna was much cooler than Elsa. That's those are the facts. Uh, because the little sister is always gonna be.
Alrighty. I'm gonna be. Um Idina Menzel's back, Josh Gad's back, Kristen Bell's back, Jonathan Groff is back.
I love Jonathan Groff.
All that cast is amazing. I just saw Kristen Bell performing. Uh with the Savannah bananas. That was a cool video. That was a cool video. I don't know what's the plot. Vague details. Okay, but have you you haven't seen the teaser? Oh, hold on. There's a there's a villain who has powers.
And also looks like Anna and Christoph are getting married, and Olaf finds love.
But but he he wants to find love. So in the teaser trailer, he says, I'm gonna fall in love with the next person I meet, and the next person they meet is the villain with powers, and he goes, Maybe the next person. So, yeah, it's pretty good.
You'll have to uh you'll have to check out the teaser trailer if you haven't seen it. D23 happened like a week or so ago. That's Disney rolling out all their new stuff. So they released a bunch of trailers for so many new things.
Yeah. Tons of sequels. Tons of sequels. Um, but they also own Marvel, and so they did a bunch of stuff about new Marvel stuff they're working on at D23. Um they had a ton, like they're doing another Princess Diaries with Anne Hathaway. It's like the third one of those. Uh, they have a lot of stuff coming out.
A lot of stuff. If you didn't watch the D23 thing, get the highlights. I did not.
Because Disney has a lot of stuff coming out. Okay. I probably won't watch it. Okay. Well, that's why I said get the highlights. You don't have to watch the whole thing. Just get some of the highlights.
I think you just told me the highlights, so I'm good. No, I told you two things. That's fine. That's all I need. Do you like Princess Diaries? No. I don't know anything about it, actually. Do you? No. Good. I'm glad I'm glad we shared that information. I just know they're doing it. Okay. Uh Okay.
I was just gonna look it up really quick. So princess diaries? No. The things that were officially announced this year at D23.
I don't Any more Star Wars plans?
I didn't watch the whole thing. You didn't watch the highlights. Some of them. Okay. That's how I knew they were doing the frozen three. They're doing an Oswald. They're doing a Kingdom Hearts series, which You loved Kingdom Hearts. I really enjoyed the first game. I never played, like they did so many games. Oh. There's just a lot. Oswald is uh is a is kind of a Mickey looking character. He's got long floppy ears, though. Um, but they're doing uh they're doing an animated Oswald uh full feature film, I think, um, which will be kind of interesting.
I don't even know it's there is some new Star Wars stuff. They're doing season two of Ahsoka. Um, so that's happening. I don't know any of what you're saying. Okay. Well she is the character you like, the Jedi with the like purple things.
You like her. Okay.
Um, but they she has her own show. Um they're doing a season two of that. Okay. Anyway, there's there's stuff. Like you just have to go look at the D23 recap, and you'll Okay, I probably won't.
Okay. Uh I'm really having a strong reaction to someone's poor grammar online, and it's from within this building. Oh, and I know that they know better, but they they use the wrong I mean in uh in a sentence where they said, um, do you have any questions for this person and I?
And I went, come on, man. You remove the this person, and does the sentence flow? You don't say, Do you have any questions for I? No, you say me. You say me. And I'm really struggling with not going like you know better than this. Come on.
That's a very common mistake that people make though.
This one bugs me, though, because I know this person in the building knows better, and then they put it out into the public space, and I go, come on.
Well, go call them out.
I know I'm I'm really like, I got the urge to be like, dude.
You do you call people out on their grammar quite often. Emery calls you grammar man. Yeah. Because you doesn't call me that in a long time. No.
Really, when she was in elementary school and middle school, she's like, okay, grammar man. And then she took some uh you know, higher level English classes and went, no, I get it now, actually. And it's just little things like that that kind of bug me.
There's one thing that bugs you a lot, and it's less and fewer. That is correct.
Less is singular, fewer is plural. If you have more than one thing, if you have less one less thing, then you can use less. If you have two or more fewer, use fewer.
Give an example. Uh 15 items or less. Ugh. it Stop it. It's 15 items or fewer. There's an example. You can have one less, but you're gonna have two or more fewer. Why would you bring up less and fewer? Because it's one Yuck.
That is when that gets you. And I'm constantly getting those mixed up. And then I this is what I hear all day long. Fewer. Less. And I go, I know. what I didn't Then use the right one.
There are also words that people misuse. Jealous and envious are two of them. Oh, it makes me so jealous. No, it doesn't. It makes you envious. Yeah, we hear that a lot too. I just want you to know that those two words are different and they're not interchangeable. They mean different things.
What I'm trying to say is you're a lot of fun to live with. Hey.
I know how to have fun. I have a good time. I just want, you know. And but then I get called out for words like accessory versus accessory. And I go, oh.
I asked, okay, because you said an accessory. Right. And then we have a friend who lives in Utah.
Who called me out and said, I believe the word is accessory.
Well, he said, is that an Idaho colloqu colloquialism? Sure. And I said, I don't know. So I did ask some coworkers. And most of them said accessory. Right. I say accessory. You do? I do. It sounds abrasive. But that's if it was accessory, it would be spelled with two S's and not two C's. I don't know. It would. It would.
It's one of those words. It is one of those words. And I feel like accessory accessory. I feel like those two are similar to Caribbean, Caribbean, route route. I feel like they're in the same category.
Where it's just interchangeable.
I think it it's as long as you're consistent. Like I wouldn't use them side by side in the same sentence. Like I wouldn't, I wouldn't go, hey, yeah, we got a bunch of accessories over here.
Stop by and check out our accessory shop. That would be bad. Like you would go, What are you doing? I feel like you've got to be consistent with it. Pick one and stay in the lane, right? I guess. Yeah.
I don't know if I care that much.
I only care because I got called out about it.
I know it really upset you. Because you take pride in knowing I just I like to be well spoken.
Yes.
I don't You take pride in that. You know what know what I mean. For sure.
Like I don't want to, I don't want to bumble all my words all the time. I do it anyway.
There's no I do that all the time. Nothing wrong with it. Yeah.
Anyway, any questions for Chantel and I? No. I have no questions for Chantel and I, but I might have some questions for Chantel and me. I gotta go talk to this guy. Okay.
Do you want to tell everybody about your big purchase?
Um I had to look at the notes to see what you were even talking about. Listen. Uh I got a I got they were on sale. I uh that's all I'm gonna start with that. I'm gonna start with I didn't pay a lot of money for it. I also was not one of the people in the walkway of the mall, way over the top, excited about what they were opening in their uh blind box that they uh you know, pull the tab and you pull out the bag and you get to see which laboo boo you bought. Listen, I bought a laboo boo. Because this is still a trend, right? People are still big on it.
I just looked it up. It said the peak craze has passed. Good.
But they are still but that's why I didn't have to pay $40 for one. Yeah.
You're just late to the party, and that's okay.
But I didn't really want to be like totally like about a year ago is when I saw we went we went to Formula Drift in Salt Lake, and uh one of the cars, I was laughing because inside the car, it's a race car. This thing is built for performance and speed, and has like this thing is built for a purpose, and it's very, you know, tough, right? And hanging from the ceiling in the in this race car is a labooboo.
And it was so like weirdly ironic and funny to me that I went, that's hysterical. I have a truck, I have my Tacoma, I think, or my tundra. I think it would be very funny in my in my truck to have a laboo-boo hanging. Like it's just funny.
And you've been thinking about this for months.
Well, uh about a year, yeah.
Yeah, because we were shopping for you for one for Christmas, and I was like, I'm not spending that kind of money on the bottom.
They were like $40 for this silly little thing.
This silly little thing. That's exactly what it was. Right. So he can hang it from his rear view mirror. So you didn't get one.
No, which is fine. I uh anyway, we were in Salt Lake last weekend, and I went, you know, it'd be funny if I just picked up one of these and they were cheaper.
Yeah, they were on the book. But the people in the hallway that were like they they'd buy one, they'd go out of the store, they'd open it up, everybody was cheering and excited, and then come in and buy another one and then go out and open. I'm like, this is nuts. Like you guys are crazy. Yeah. You're crazy.
But we did. You took yours back to the hotel room and we did a opening.
Reveal. I did a did a uh uh a blind test.
Well, is it a blind box opening? I opened it up, search it up. I I opened it up, whatever it is. Uh I did a laboo boo reveal and we filmed it, and I we haven't posted the video.
No, but we should. Uh, but I opened it up, and uh apparently you're not supposed to just look at what's in the box. You're supposed to peel the tab, open the top of the box, take the bag out and open the bag and and reveal which one you got.
Yeah, every single one is really big surprise. Because when I opened it up, I want to see everything that's in the box. That's what I do. Like any other uh box opening thing, like I would I would take out all of the parts and I would go, what is all this stuff?
And then I would, you know, look at it all. So I took the bag out, and I noticed that there was a little cardboard y sticker thing in the bottom, and so I took out, and boy, did that make her upset. You ruined it. Yeah, you you just spoiled it. And I was like, does that mean that's what's in here? And she's like, yeah. Okay. My fault. I've not done an unboxing video before. This is new.
Okay. So I have what I should post, and I will post is your unboxing of your laboo video. Yeah. And then in the comments, I'll post Emery's a her POV.
She recorded us. Yeah. Man.
She was upset. Or post the post the uh uh my video, the one you filmed, and then we can post the other one just by itself later or whatever. We'll just post them. So you get you get both angles. You can see the No, yeah.
I'll post them both, but it'll be like one will be in the comments. I see you okay. Right.
That's fine. I would just post them both as reels, and then you can watch part one, part two. Oh my god. Or behind the scenes. You know what I mean?
I don't know what I'm saying. Is that what you would do? Something like that. Okay, now you've been wearing your laboo-boo on your back.
Yeah, so I clipped it to my backpack when we were in the hotel room, and I haven't taken it off my backpack because I I've been wearing my backpack around the office, like when I get here and when I leave, and it's dangling off the back of my backpack, and it's a pink labo-boo, and no one has said a word. Like, what is that thing on your backpack? Uh, which is fine. I don't think anybody in this building knows what a labo-boo is.
I honestly wouldn't I probably wouldn't know. Yeah.
I don't think I've seen anybody with one like on their hip or clip to their you know, purse or bag or anything. You don't know. That's what I'm saying. I'm in the wrong crowd. No one in here knows or cares. Exactly.
Wear it, I don't know, you gotta wear it in public or something. Wear it in public. What's that mean?
I'm not gonna go walk around the mall with a backpack with a little boo-boo hanging off of it.
Don't put it on your backpack. Maybe put it on your like your belt loop.
Well, that's what people do. They clip it on to themselves. Yeah. So there you go. Fashion accessory.
If we're going to the mall tonight, guess what? Oh, it on your belt loop. So cool.
If you spot me with my pink labooboo, say what's up. You're the one that bought it. Well, you don't pick which one you get. You you get what you get, and you don't throw a fit. What color did you want? I didn't have a preference. I kind of like the kind of like uh brown one.
It was kind of fun. But you also they had like uh like kind of shaggy looking ones that were like all kinds of different rainbow-y colors. They were kind of um like an ombre.
Very like uh this one looks like a sunset. Uh and then they had the solid color ones that were more fluffy, the original ones. And you were like, I like the fluffy curly hair ones.
Like the fluffy ones. Yeah. Have you looked at it? Yeah.
Have you held it? No. Do you want to? No.
It's a laboo-boo. Yesterday was fun for me. Uh let me tell you, uh, yesterday on the show, we were talking about me being grounded from fantasy football. Um, because I'm no fun to live with when I'm playing fantasy football.
Okay, but you also admitted that. No, no, no, I get it. Okay. I know.
I know why I'm grounded from playing fantasy football. I've got to pull up the emails.
Okay. Cause I'm getting now in trouble because people are like, oh, you won't let your husband play football and like bros. Yeah. Listen up here.
Uh, Jake is one of our sales guys in here, and he said, uh, they're they're trying to figure out who's gonna play this year, and he said, because he had listened to the show.
I'm in, I asked my wife, and she said I can play. To which I said, hey, listen, that's a personal attack. And I said, I am grounded from fantasy because of my own actions, not because I lack Chantel's approval. I'll be a much better co-worker husband and father if I'm not playing this year. This is all going out to everybody in the company, by the way. Like, this is a company-wide email. And he said, Was that a prepared statement? Did your PR team write that?
You keep working on you. So then I did prepare an actual statement. official statement, which Uh, which I uh released as a PDF memorandum uh that says I formally acknowledge that I am grounded from participating in fantasy football this year as a result of my own actions and choices. And it goes on to say I believe that stepping away from fantasy football this season will make me a better coworker, husband. Reiterating what I said in my short email.
Right. Um I it does say that like uh it's a big time commitment, the mental energy associated with managing a fantasy team is a lot, and without doing that, I can focus more of my attention on the people and responsibilities that matter most. Like it's a nice statement.
And then you said I accept my one-year fantasy football suspension without blaming Chantel for it.
Right. It's not your fault. No, it is not. I don't need your permission. You've said you can play, but you're not gonna be any fun to live with, which is true. Like it's it'll be nice to just enjoy watching football. That's what I said yesterday.
Yeah. Uh and so I submitted an official memorandum, which then got called out of because apparently it wasn't notarized and didn't have an official seal, which my PR department doesn't do. We don't need all that bureaucracy when we release a memorandum to the company about why we're not gonna participate in fantasy sports this year. Anyway, it it turned out to be a lot of people uh giving me a bunch of flack for not playing fantasy football this year and blaming it on you. Dragging me into it. Yeah.
Now it's true that I did ground you, but you are capable of making your own decisions. So you could have said listen, listen, I'm not grounded, I'm gonna do what I want to do, woman.
Wow. I I'm glad you said that, not me, because I won't say that. That would get me in more trouble than I'm willing to deal with. I have been grounded by my mom for life when I was like three. So I'm still grounded. It's a wonder I was
even allowed to meet you and have dates and get married because I've been grounded for life.
Because I left the house and went to the neighbor's house. That was not the thing to do when you're three. It apparently makes people worry about where you disappeared to.
And then you get grounded for life. So that's my fault. I accept responsibility for my actions and choices, and I'm not playing fantasy football. And you're not blaming me. Because I'm a better person if I don't play. And no, I'm not blaming you. 100% true. Right.
Because you took it too seriously.
And it was every year I play. I get very, very involved.
It's supposed to be a game, and it is games are supposed to be fun, and you were having no fun. Right. Which in turn made it no fun for me.
I was having a conversation with one of the ladies from the sales team as well. Uh, Mac was in here, and she was like, I'm gonna play again, but I don't really even know like uh what I'm doing. So somebody's gonna have to really show me how to do this thing if I'm gonna play again. And that made my blood boil.
Because do you remember last season when she was not setting her roster and she lost and lost and lost, and I was like, this is gonna be an easy week. And I got smoked. And I was very upset. And that because she doesn't set her roster, and I see this is why I don't know. I can't play. I'm grounded from playing this year, and it makes sense. So I'm not playing. You're not playing? No. By your own choice? Yep. Good choice. Me neither. Would you rather this or that?
Would you rather repeat your senior year of high school or repeat your first year of college? Knowing what I know now. Yes.
Knowing what I know now, I would redo my senior year of high school. Okay. I would not. No? No.
I'd repeat my first year of college.
You you had a much better time. And so like I moved to Arizona. I went to a different, like, I was at a tech school. It was that's fine. I would I would do over my senior year, and it would be a big epic year. Well because I know what I know now. It would be it would
be knowing what I know now, I would repeat my first year of college because I probably want to gone to class more. Oh, is that right?
I didn't have a problem showing up to class. My senior year, I had I had worked really hard to make sure I had all my credits, and they changed the count after we graduated.
So it's it's a lot harder to do this now. But I had like one or two classes in the morning, my all three trimesters of my uh senior year. And then I went and worked, and I had three jobs and it was chaos and whatever. But uh school, I would focus way differently.
I had a great time my first year of college.
I know you did. So you just want to go do it again.
No, well, that because I had so much fun, but also like I probably would go back and be like, okay, we gotta focus on some stuff.
And maybe you'll do swimming before kayaking.
That was like second year. Oh, what's that? That wasn't even first year.
But you know what you know now. So you might do swimming before kayaking, and then you love kayaking.
I do love kayaking.
I just don't know. It's not whitewater, like you're not in like real kayak. You're in like a like a little recreational kayak. You're not in like a real kayak. Right. Did you what if that was your thing? Like you love water. You love swimming. I do. But like you haven't gone back to try and do that kayaking thing. What you could be nailing. You could be like an Olympic athlete at this.
I don't think I want to be. You don't? No. At white water? No. Kayaking? Nah. That's not where my passion lies.
Lots of upper body strength you could build up doing that. I'd love I know you would. Your arms would be ripped.
I would like some ripped arms. I do kind of envy women who have ripped arms. Have you seen women with ripped arms? Sure. There was a lady on the street the other day, and I was like, I want to tell her that I really love her arms. But then I thought that felt weird.
A lady on the street.
She was just walking. I don't know what her job is. Okay. I just was very impressed. And I was gonna say no, because I chickened out. But I should have.
Wicked arms, bro.
Dude, I would have been like, oh man, I'm so jealous. All right. Well. Would you rather this or that? Dude. Dude. Dude. Dude. Are you busy September third? What's happening September 3rd?
Uh September 3rd, the grand reopening of the Lava Hot Springs big pool. I didn't know it was closed. Yes, you did. We've been talking about this. Yeah, oh yeah. The hottest pool, the big one.
Oh, okay. They were rebuilding it. Yeah. The swimming pool.
No, no, no. Hot pool. The hot pools. Got it. They've they've had the uh big pool, the big hottest pool under construction for a good part of the year. Yes. Like they started when there was still like the ground was thawing out. Yeah. It's been under under construction for uh a pretty good deal.
But anyway, September 3rd is the grand opening of the hottest pool. Uh and they're doing a couple of things. Um they'll have uh normal operations beginning at 8 a.m. They'll have an official ribbon cutting ceremony with some refreshments at 1 p.m. And then from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., they're waving your entry fee. So you can go and check out the pools uh from one to five on Thursday, September 3rd, which is really cool. Uh and they're gonna waive entry fees.
So you can go try out the new uh remodeled hottest of the pools. Uh which is cool. Yeah.
So uh that's cool. Um they said that the hottest pool was rebuilt because it was failing. It it was not holding water properly. Um, it was sinking in places, the stairs were separating. Um, it looks really nice.
They've done a wonderful job. And if you remember, it's on the north side of that hottest pool, kind of went up the the uh it was just like a jungle looking dirt garden thing, right? Like it was just a hillside. Now they've got a nice retaining wall there. They still have like the big uh like seating areas where you can like just dangle your feet in there if you want. It's got brand new stairs to walk down into it. It looks really good. Okay, good really, really good.
We're gonna have to go check it.
I know. I haven't been to the hot pools in a long time long time. We haven't been to the... down there.
We usually get there to the pool.
Yeah, we usually go to the pool like once a year or so. Yeah.
I don't think we even went last year. What is happening?
Time is slipping away. Uh anyway, if you're uh if you're interested, they are gonna reopen that one and it's gonna be pretty much. am interested. Yeah. I thought you might be. I am yeah, kind of a big announcement, kind of a big grand opening announcement, which would be a lot of fun. So good announcement, Josh. Uh but it's their announcement. I'm just sharing it. I'm just sharing it because I want to go down and soak in the hot pools. That sounds nice. I know.
I like going when it's like snow outside.
I know, and you get the cold snow hitting you on your shoulders while you're sitting in the hot pool. I know. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. I know. Very, very fun and exciting news. It's been a long time coming, as they say. Um, that's gonna wrap up today's show and this week's shows.
We are ready for the weekend. That's a wrap. Yeah? Yeah, I wish I had a director. Is that a what? Like a director. Like a uh whatever they call that thing, a slate. Yeah. Yeah.
That's a wrap. Slam. Uh-huh.
Usually I think they they don't do that at the end. I think they do that at the beginning where they'll go uh click action. So it's kind of a front thing. I don't think they do that when they say cut. That's a rap. I think they just say that. Oh. Well.
We do things different here at Classic.
We do things our own way. Yeah. We're built different. Oh, is that right? Okay. That's another thing they say. Have a great weekend. Um, we'll be back on Monday. Uh thanks for hanging out.
Hold on. How come you're rubbing your head like you have a headache? Like it's been a lot of work to hang out with me. What?
What did you say? You're just rubbing your head like, oi. It's just it's been a lot. Stop doing that. All right.
Have a great weekend. We'll be back on Monday. Uh, thanks for hanging out with us.
Josh, the good news is you get to see me on the weekend, too. I'm going fishing. Have a good one. Have a good weekend. Bye.
