Welcome to So Much To Say: A Legal Podcast For People where we explore the behind-the-scenes of work, law, life, and everything in between. We’re your hosts, business development and legal marketing coaches Jennifer Ramsey and Megan Senese, and we’re here to showcase the human side of the legal world, from marketing and consulting to the very real challenges of balancing ambitious careers with being human. This isn’t your typical, dry legal show. Instead, So Much To Say is a human-centered leadership, marketing, and culture podcast through the lens of law. We bring you real stories, candid conversations, and thoughtful insights that remind you that outside of being a lawyer or legal marketer, what makes you human matters too. So whether you’re navigating billable hours, building meaningful relationships, redefining success, or simply trying to stay human in a high-performance profession, this podcast is for you.
Stay human. Stay inspired. Namaste (or whatever keeps you human).
[00:00:00] Do you feel like you are bracing yourself every single time you check your email?
[00:00:12] Welcome to Minis with Megan on So Much To Say: A Legal Podcast For People.
[00:00:24] Are you looking at all of your tabs open on your computer screen? And holding your shoulders tight.
[00:00:37] Are you reading the news, scrolling on your phone, trying to do your tasks and realizing you are holding your breath as if you're going to jump into the deep end of a pool
[00:00:57] and then you pop onto a meeting. And you are panting even though you have been sitting on your ass for the last three hours, 'cause you haven't taken a break. If this sounds familiar, there's actually a phrase for it. It's called email apnea or screen apnea, where we as humans have now trained ourselves to hold our breaths.
[00:01:22] While we were checking our emails and scrolling and consuming all of this content, I know that I need to incorporate more breathing into my day while I'm working at my desk. So much so that when I get on calls with my business partner, Jen, is like, I think you're panting. And so the easiest solution to this is to take a deep breath, but it's hard to remember sometimes.
[00:01:51] Times we've trained our bodies to hold our breath, and so there's no way you can do your legal work, your business development, your outreaches, your writing, you were strategizing, creating agendas, all of the busy things you need to do if you're holding your breath and running out of air. So we want to offer a solution to your email apnea, to your screen apnea with a program called Offer.
[00:02:21] The mat, we're inviting you to join us for 30 minutes of just breathing, and this might sound terrifying, but I assure you at the end of the 30 minutes you're gonna feel great. It's going to be instructed by a certified yoga instructor who just happens to be stages business partner Jen Ramsey. You can join from your desk.
[00:02:49] No cameras on, no yoga experience required, no sound. No one will even know what you are doing. All you're going to get is 30 minutes to sit and breathe. And be grounded so you can go back to your busy day feeling fresh and focused and having a release in your shoulders and in your neck. And in your chest, a release in your stomach.
[00:03:20] Maybe that's where I hold all of my anxiety super tight. If you've ever felt like I really just need a break, but you do not feel like you are allowed to, this is your invitation. This is your permission. 30 minutes virtual break with us and a certified yoga instructor. For some deep breathing so you can finally take that breath you have been wanting, wishing, yearning for, and frankly you deserve.
[00:03:56] Give yourself the permission for 30 minutes of breathing. For more information, you can email us at info@stage.guide, or you can check out the registration link in our show notes. Join us for off the mat.
