The 405 Coffee Break with O.K. Solberg

Today O.K. suggests you make your plans carefully, but leave room for life to surprise you.

What is The 405 Coffee Break with O.K. Solberg?

Greetings and Welcome to The 405 Coffee Break with O.K. Solberg

New episodes tend to air over the local KMMR radio station @ 5 minutes past 4PM each M-F. And have been doing so, nearly every week since Sept 2018.
New episodes appear here usually within a few hours after that KMMR air time and been striving to post new releases here by 4:30PM.

OK Solberg:

I want to again welcome you to The 405 Coffee Break. Guys, get you a cup of coffee, glass iced tea, bottle of water. The weekend's coming. Let's see what's happening out there.

OK Solberg:

Spring wheat $6.73 a bushel, 550lb steer calf, top end $4.70, fall delivery, and a 100lb fat lamb in Billings, Top end $3.15 a pound. But guys there's more, much more.

OK Solberg:

Okay. Okay. Okay. Did you hear yesterday's episode? I hope you did. And if you did, you know that I did not talk too long. Now now the natural thing to do in this situation is to talk real long today and make up for yesterday's short episode. Think I can do it?

OK Solberg:

But I'm gonna surprise you this time. I'm gonna have two episodes in a row that are on the short list. See, like I said yesterday, I know I can talk on long long time, but I'm getting better.

OK Solberg:

So if I have 2 episodes in a row that are short and when you hear someone downtown say, yeah, you know, I kinda like listening to Orvin, but he always talks so long.

OK Solberg:

Well, you can smile and say, well, I'd like to rephrase that. Orvin often talks for a long time, but not always. So, of course, we all know that I have a bible verse in every episode, so let's not forget that part today.

OK Solberg:

And let's see if that verse can lead us to a little understanding in a short kind of way. The verse comes from Proverbs 16:9 The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps. Again, Proverbs 16 verse 9.

OK Solberg:

Now if you think about that, make your plans carefully but leave room for life to surprise you. Oh, yeah. Because it will. On this subject, I have found that a changed plan isn't necessarily a failed plan.

OK Solberg:

Remember that. Did you realize some of life's best chapters begin with the words, well, that wasn't what I expected. I heard someone once say, looking back some of the biggest detours made more sense then than they did when they when I was standing in the middle of them.

OK Solberg:

Did you realize sometimes the door that closes is simply making you look for the one that stands open? I like that. Life doesn't always give us what we plan for, does it? But it often gives us something worth learning from. And I always like to learn, I tell you that.

OK Solberg:

And yes, sometimes it's the hard way, but then the lesson sticks. And you go guys know how fond I am with the book written by Dale Carnegie titled How to Stop Worrying and Start Living.

OK Solberg:

When we come upon the unexpected, always remember the one chapter that sticks out in my mind. It's simply titled, Cooperate with the Inevitable. When circumstances cannot be changed, fighting reality only adds another burden.

OK Solberg:

So we need to accept what we cannot change and put our energy into what we can do next. Because, guys, we know. We don't need to see the whole road to know that the next step matters, and it matters a great deal.

OK Solberg:

Well, now the weekend is near. I hope you enjoy it with great gusto. I'll let the class out early so you can get an early start on your weekend.

OK Solberg:

So until next time, as you go out there, remember now, don't be bitter.
