What is Charted?

Like a master surveyor, Jesus gives us clear directions to find a fulfilling, purpose-filled relationship with Himself - a map to the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Charted is a daily devotional written by the junior class at Fountainview Academy (Class of 2019). Based on the book Steps to Christ, this book explores the path to the Originator and Provider of Genuine Joy. We don't have to be confused about the way. The certainty is in the journey: divinely Charted.

As you draw near to Him with confession and repentance, He will

Today might be the day he won’t make a mess, I thought
hopefully as I drowsily approached our garage. Opening the door
silently, I examined the air with my nose, searching for any telltale
signs. Suddenly, the scent I had been dreading assaulted my nostrils
and set alarms off in my head. I couldn’t bear to look at the horrible
mess that was splattered all over the place. Bathed in the slop sat my
puppy with an innocent looking face; wagging his tail, he continued to
spray the brown mixture.
Puppy toilet training—my worst nightmare! It was only the
seventh surprise that week, and cleaning him up was not for the faint
of heart. I could feel breakfast slowly rising as I dragged the chunky
soup out of the garage. Wasting no time, I quickly got the hose and
soap and began the unwanted chore of cleaning him and the mess
he made. When he looked impeccable, I gave him a quick cuddle and
placed him back in his kennel. Luckily, I had finished just in time to get
dressed for school.
Even though my puppy had messed up repetitively, I still
forgave him—though it wasn’t easy. Unlike me, God never has a
problem showing us mercy and giving us His forgiveness. No matter
how many times we fall, He won’t turn us down if we just come to Him.
“To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgiveness, though we have
rebelled against Him” (Daniel 9:9 KJV).
