What is Clydesdale Media Podcast?

We cover the sport of CrossFit from all angles. We talk with athletes, coaches and celebrities that compete and surround in the sport of CrossFit at all levels. We also bring you Breaking News, Human Interest Stories and report on the Methodology of CrossFit. We also use the methodology to make ourselves the fittest we can be.

What is up, everybody?

As you can see,

we're having a party on a Friday.

From the gym to the screen, yeah,

we cover it all.

Midday motivation every time you press

call.

Lunch with the Clydesdale.

Cowboy bring the heat.

Crossfit, boobies, music on repeat.

Half hour hustle, yeah,

we building that brand.

Grab a plate, tune in now,

you part of the fam.

It's lunchtime.

What's going on, everybody?

It's a party Friday with the Glintons,

and they're still dancing.

At least some of them.

It's a vibe.

Oh, my God.

That is the jam.

That's a vibe.

It's so awesome.

Every day.

So it's so good to see today.

This is what happens every time we go.

Scott plays a song, and half the time,

both of us are just watching each other

just kind of bop back and forth because

it's a jam.

What are you going to do?

It is catchy.

We actually had people comment the other

day that they don't leave our show until

the outro is done.

And it's a different version with the same

lyrics.

But they hang on until it totally goes

away.

I found this cool tool and I've made

theme songs for all the shows.

And I don't know how I lived without

it.

no you can't you can't have a show

now without it that's amazing no it's

fantastic well you guys have a cool open

like whose decision was it to go with

a theme song in an open

No,

it was we talked to Pedro and Pedro

did it for us.

And it was really cool.

And he was just like, hey,

do you have an idea?

Do you have it?

And I was like, nope.

All you, buddy.

What do you what you got?

Like, I'm not.

I got nothing for you.

Thanks, Pedro.

I think he just went through some of

our shows and pulled some clips from some

of our shows.

And he did.

That was all Pedro.

Thank you, Pedro.

You're amazing.

Yeah.

Do you know that Pedro and I started

our podcast like two weeks apart,

three weeks apart,

something like that back in two thousand

nineteen?

You first and then him or him?

Yeah, it was I was first.

He was second.

But we didn't know each other at that

moment.

But we became friends like shortly after

because we were.

We were one of the very few that

had something outside of CrossFit that was

our own podcast.

So we would talk all the time.

probably three or four times a week back

then.

Wow.

Did not know that.

Yeah.

I definitely found yours first.

I found Clydesdale first.

I think it was, uh,

was it you Armin, uh,

Craig Ritchie.

There's a couple,

there's like four or five that I,

that I knew of back then that that's

all I watched.

And then a bodybuilder dude that would

always do the Arnold classic or something

like that.

And you'd watch that.

And that was fun.

But other than that,

that's what I had through.

yeah like my inspiration was armin and

savann and savann had retired like he left

crossfit he was no longer doing the

crossfit podcast and he was gone from the

scene it wasn't until like a year later

that he brought his back yeah josh matt

and savann yeah yeah so

So it was wild.

It was a wild time.

And Pedro wasn't Pedro back then.

Like he was just Peter.

He was actually just Peter at that point,

coffee pods and wads.

And he actually had a couple of episodes,

if I remember right,

where they actually talked about coffee.

They did.

They used to talk about coffee.

Wasn't it Savon that gave him Pedro,

the nickname?

Yep.

Yeah.

I feel like once you get a nickname

like that, you just,

it just sticks with you.

You know what I mean?

So when people say Peter, I'm like,

who are they talking about?

Oh, Pedro.

They're talking about Pedro.

The cowboy came from Siobhan as well.

That's why Corey is the cowboy.

Wait, you have to tell me that story.

I've never heard that story.

Barbell Shrugged too.

You're right.

Papa Frank.

Barbell Shrugged was in there too

somewhere.

Yep.

Because he was talking about listening to

Scott's show and for whatever reason

associated me with riding a fucking horse.

Which I have ridden a horse before,

but not religiously.

I definitely don't own one.

I ain't got to ride a horse money

by any stretch of the imagination.

So he started calling me the cowboy.

And that was before he realized that it

was me from the chat.

completely.

And then like,

once he put those two things together,

knowing that I was from Louisiana and

whatnot, like he just,

and he just leaned into it ever since.

Yeah.

Basically what Birch said,

he thinks everybody in the South is a

cowboy.

And I've always been the Clydesdale.

So it went, cowboy went with Clydesdale.

So it just made sense once it stuck.

That doesn't, yeah.

Clydesdale and the cowboy facts.

Yeah.

How did you come up with the name?

Yeah.

Clydesdale.

Yeah.

So back when I was a kid,

I was very athletic.

I did a lot of things and they

used to have races like five Ks,

things like that,

where they had a Clydesdale division and

it was anybody over two hundred pounds was

a Clydesdale.

Mm hmm.

And so when I first got into CrossFit,

I weighed over five hundred pounds.

And I was like,

and then as I lost weight,

I still was big.

And I was like,

wouldn't it be nice if local comps had

a Clydesdale division?

Because our pull ups are way harder than

the little guy's pull ups.

And so that's where it derived from.

And then I'm a less believer in having

a Clydesdale division,

but it just stuck after that.

Also known as rig shakers.

Yes.

That's under two hundred pounds, too.

That's not one eighty five.

You see all those boys that like one.

I weigh one eighty five.

I do not shake the rig.

You do.

You know a lot.

We watched you.

We saw you.

Corey, you only weigh one eighty five.

One eighty five.

One eighty eight.

Depending on the day.

Yeah.

Have you ever met him in person?

No, I have not.

I sent him a picture of me standing

next to Will.

Which is so funny.

I was like,

Will is exactly this much taller than me.

And Corey looks like he's a carnival

prize.

I look like someone,

like he won me at a,

like the carnival,

knocked some bottles down.

They were like, here you go.

And then it got weird.

Yeah, it got weird.

It got pretty weird after that.

My dream is to see Joseph and Corey

in a slam dunk contest.

So fun fact.

In high school,

I could jump pretty damn high,

and we were practicing half-court stuff

one day.

And the ball – and Garrett,

she played ball.

Like,

you know how sometimes the ball hit the

back of the rim and just go flying

like across the gym?

Yeah.

Somebody took a shot.

That happened.

I was standing close to half-court,

and it took one of those bounces where

I looked up and I was like, ooh.

You know how people throw it up,

let it bounce, and then dunk, right?

So I follow it up.

It takes that perfect bounce,

and I jump –

and i pinned it on the bottom of

the rim and landed flat on my ass

the rim stuffed you yeah a hundred percent

a hundred percent and i'm laid out like

this coach green walks up to me and

looks down and goes you all right said

yeah i think so he said don't ever

do that again said yes sir

We'd have to make the room like eight

feet for you guys.

Isn't there a child tight?

Eight and a half.

Oh, okay.

Eight feet.

Yeah.

I thought we just use that Fisher price

plastic one that you can get down with

that as well.

Yes, absolutely.

Down, down with that as well.

You gotta be careful with that one though,

because Ramirez's beard might get stuck in

that and then he'll just be attached to

it for the rest of the day.

His head's like this dangling.

Yeah.

Like help me please.

So speaking, speaking of this, like,

is he your Caleb?

He is.

Like full time Caleb?

Yes.

He's our backdoor guy.

Yeah.

We love him.

I have wanted a Caleb for the entire

time I've done this podcast.

So he actually approached us.

You know,

he was a very big personality in our

chat.

And then we became friends, obviously,

like as we all start.

Right.

We're in DMs.

We're sending reels.

We're laughing about stuff.

We're bitching about CrossFit.

We're loving CrossFit, whatever.

And then he reached out to Garrett and

was like, well,

we met them at the games and then

we saw them again at H.E.R.D.

And, you know,

we were becoming friends with him and Meg.

And then he just reached out to her

and was like, if I can help, like,

I really want to help.

And he has taken that position and he

has he is the sole reason why we

have had some of the awesome guests that

we have had.

He has just reached out to everybody,

which has been very helpful because it's

such a busy season for Garrett and I

both with our jobs and then obviously with

our son.

Yeah.

So he's really just stepped up and and

and helped us.

And so it's really,

really cool that we have, you know,

that he wanted to do that for us.

Does he secure all the guests or do

you do some of that yourself?

I used to do it all.

Even though my wife has gotten some of

the,

like when she got Kristen Pancheck to come

on the show,

I almost died and fell out.

I got two.

I was the one that got Bill Grundler.

Y'all were fangirling so hard when Kristen

got on and it was awesome to watch.

Oh my gosh.

Oh, my God.

I was a little speechless on that.

And I haven't been since, you know,

we had Bill on and he pretty much

was like,

you can't act like fans like you guys

are professionals now.

And it was very helpful for me because

when we started all of this, it's like,

oh, my God,

we're talking to people that we have

watched on screen.

Right.

And you do get that sense of like

they're above you, you know,

and you idolize them and stuff.

And so Bill really helped me be like.

We're just people.

And so that's been very helpful for me.

But when Kristen Panchak came on the

screen, I was like, okay,

I need a minute.

Like I just, one of those,

I need a minute, you know?

It's funny that Bill said that because I

think the charm of what you guys bring

to the space is the fangirl part of

it.

I can't not.

Like, as much as he said it,

maybe Colleen took it to, I can't.

Every time, like,

even Tyler or Ty Jenkins last night when

he came on the show, like, he, like,

smiled or whipped his hair or something,

and I almost choked on a FitAid,

and I had to, like,

get up and run out of there.

You ran away for a couple minutes.

I had to, like, I was like, ugh.

Let me go clear my throat.

To be fair, his hair is next level.

It is world class.

Him and Tudor are fighting for the best

hair in the biz.

So...

yeah and dave castro come on let's yes

dave's flow is is mariah is awesome right

now except right now lets it go that

wasn't that one interview like he like it

was and it just stuck straight it was

humid it was like cory's hair yeah there's

something about mary it was just up

straight up if we're talking fangirl

moment though your interview with lucy

campbell

Garrett, you were like,

you had lost it completely.

I didn't know what even to say.

I didn't know where we were in the

interview.

I didn't know what question anybody was

on.

It didn't help that she just showed up.

Yeah.

We really thought we were going to have

to wait another two hours.

We thought time zone was wrong.

And that she was going to come on

at eight thirty instead of five thirty.

So I was like, OK,

we're just going to screw around on this

forty five minute podcast and then we'll

come back.

Nope.

She popped on and I was just like,

I can't breathe.

Like, it's Lucy Campbell.

And then she said she recognized us.

I was like, okay, well, I'm done.

That's it.

Lucy goes, yeah,

I saw y'all walking across the street.

I waved.

Both of y'all were like, we did what?

You recognize us?

You know what we look like?

Before we met you here?

Like, you know who we are?

Yeah.

But I think what I mean by what

Bill said,

it didn't it didn't take the fangirl out

of me like I'm such still a huge

fan of these people.

But it took the anxiety, I think,

away from me where it was like, oh,

my God, I'm so anxious.

I'm talking to these people.

It's like I can be a fan without

feeling like that.

I'm so full of anxiety or there's so

much pressure that it has to look a

certain way.

And I think the fun thing for Garrett

and I is we've found our lane.

We've created our lane as to.

what really works for us.

And Ty said this to us last night

or whatever after the show, you know,

we were saying thank you.

And he said the dynamic between her and

I of having double hosts is different.

Usually if it's like an interview,

like if they're on set, it's one person.

Caleb might be there,

but it's Seb's interview.

You know what I mean?

And so we've established that back and

forth chemistry to be able to have these

type of conversations, which has been,

I think,

very fun for us to develop that.

He goes,

you guys have really good chemistry

together.

I was like, I hope so.

We've been married for fourteen years with

a nine year old.

I hope we do.

If not, we're in trouble.

I have a question about that, too,

because

When I started my show,

I had two co-hosts.

And it was really difficult.

We were stepping on each other's toes.

One thing I found, like,

when you're trying to interview someone,

the way you ask questions,

you're setting them up for maybe a future

question to get them to feel comfortable.

And inevitably, the other person would,

like,

jump in with a question completely off

topic.

And now you've lost the train of thought.

So...

How do you guys get through that?

Or are you aware because you're in the

same room of when the person wants to

take them down the path?

No,

I think it's just one of us has

the energy to start with and then they'll

get tired or they'll start to teeter out

so the other one will

pick it up from where like Colleen left

off and I give her mind a break.

So I'll talk with the person for a

little bit, but no,

we stepped on each other,

each other's toes a lot in the beginning.

It was, I,

we would look at each other afterwards and

you didn't let me finish a question.

You didn't let me do this.

You didn't let me do that.

It was like, Oh my goodness.

It was, it was,

we figured it out now, I guess.

It's just kind of a little,

we don't really go in with a plan

either.

So yeah.

Well, when we first started,

G very much had an idea or a

plan of exactly how she wanted to have

the shows go.

And I'm very much a person that I

thrive the most when I just jump into

the conversation and I allow the questions

to come up as the conversation is going.

So I didn't do too much like extra

research, I guess you could say,

because I didn't want to have a

conversation that somebody else had.

So if, like,

you and Corey are on a show, right,

and you guys are having a conversation,

I don't want to have the same conversation

that you two had.

I want to have a conversation with Scott,

and then whatever that conversation turns

into, that's what we talk about.

It can be the same topic,

you know what I mean?

But the conversation itself.

And so I think what we've...

And what we really leaned into is that

these are our conversations.

And I've even said to Lucy the other

day, I was like,

I know you've told your story a hundred

times,

but can you tell it again to us

this time so that we can have those

questions, you know?

And so I just think sometimes we still

do that where it's like,

I really want to ask this question because

of what this person said.

And Garrett's like,

you need to give me a minute.

I want to ask this.

And then if we get back to that

question, it's okay.

If we don't,

we follow suit of where the conversation

goes.

But that's a lot of practice that we've

had.

And like she said in the beginning,

we stepped on each other's toes so badly

in so many conversations that we talked

about afterwards.

You both come at it from different

perspectives too.

I think I like that too because...

You know,

Garrett has the history of everything and

have either heard or seen.

And Colleen, you come at it with like,

almost like a therapist.

Does that, have you heard that before?

I've been told that, yes.

Do you have a background there or are

you just like me who've been through

therapy?

Yes.

Yes.

So I, it wasn't a therapist.

She called,

she considers herself a life coach and I,

and I worked with life coaches for

probably the three years, babe,

two and a half, three years or whatever.

And I really grew a lot.

I really grew up a lot.

And so I'm more curious in that context,

style of questioning and that curiosity

about a person of like, you do this.

Why do you do that?

Why do you think this way?

Why is it important for it to be

this particular way?

You know?

And I,

and I just give credit to the growth

that I've had because I'm a very different

person than when we won first got

together.

And two,

when we first started this podcast,

because you have to remember this podcast

was her idea.

And I was very, very, very against it.

And I didn't want anything to do with

it.

But she's my wife.

I support her.

And we figured out our way.

And now I love it.

I think it's so fun.

We've met so many cool people within this

podcast that we never would have met

without it.

So it's just my own.

Now you're doing your own show.

I do my own shows now.

By yourself.

So yeah.

I can't do that.

I mean, you did with Sam,

but that was because I had a family

emergency that I had to leave for.

And I wasn't able to be here for

her.

So that was her very first solo show.

And only with Sam Briggs.

you want to see me die you did

watch that one i died during that

interview that was the most i was think

i was sweating the chair was like wet

i was like i just i was a

hot mess i couldn't think of any and

yes you can laugh at my chair was

wet but it was it was she was

the lesbian gotta go change my shirt

dude i it was i had like a

puddle in my sports bra it was oh

god that was a day you survived i

did i made it have you ever heard

my sandberg story no no dude this is

great so so i used to go to

crossfit polaris which was owned by

christy um o'connell um aramo o'connell

and whenever like the arnold would go on

here which is a big fitness festival um

a ton of crossfitters would come in all

the rogue athletes and they would come

work out with christy um in the afternoon

and i would go to the noon class

so i was doing the open one year

and it was the deadlift burpee workout uh

one to ten back down the torturous one

yes and so i'd finished my burpees and

i'm and i'm up

hands on knees.

I'm not picking up the barbell.

I'm just staring at it.

And all of a sudden I have Sam

Briggs in my ear going,

pick up the damn barbell.

It's not going to move itself.

I was like, wait, what?

I leaned down and picked up the barbell

and started moving.

Well, when she tells you to move,

you better move.

I didn't want Sam to yell at me

again.

Angry British firefighter right here up in

your ear.

No, thanks.

I'm good.

I'm going to pick you up.

Stop yelling at me.

And so after the workout,

she came over and she goes,

I'm really sorry for yelling at you,

but I just knew you had it in

you to pick up that barbell.

And I was like, okay, I did.

You're like, sure, that's fine.

I'm really sorry for yelling at you.

Are you?

No, not at all.

Not at all.

That's so cool.

But I guess when Sam Briggs believes in

you, you have to, you can't not,

you got to do it.

And the truth was I deadlifting that

weight was not that heavy.

Like I could have done it.

I was just being a wuss in the

moment and telling myself I was too tired.

Burpees suck, man.

They just,

she would have told me to get down

and do a burpee.

I may have not have done what she,

but I can pick up the barbell.

Yes.

So how did you two guys fall in

love?

We met at a holiday Inn in Fort

Wayne, Indiana.

That's actually accurate.

It's actually accurate.

I've been in the chat since they started

going live.

More or less.

Yeah,

and he used to talk smack to my

old co-host, Charlie.

Charlie started talking shit to me well

before I ever responded.

We both know Sweet Charlie.

I would wipe the floor with Sweet Charlie.

Love that dude.

Anyway.

And then, yeah.

Corey was jealous.

Corey was totally jealous.

He was like,

I would look better sitting next to Scott

than Sweet Charlie would look better.

Not at all.

Not at all.

It's actually a slow burn how we got

to, like, the show.

yeah hundred percent i've just been

hanging around um he wore scott down

jeremy jeremy was supposed to compete with

him at masters fitness collective jeremy

got hurt couldn't go i was going up

last minute i didn't have any

accommodations of course like listen i got

an extra room that jeremy can't come you

can come hang out so i did we

so our first the first time we ever

met we roomed together

Oh, that's very, that's been a holiday.

Yeah.

Literally had to holiday in Fort Wayne,

Indiana.

Holiday makes it even more.

Yeah.

As Kenneth said,

I used to always say that Corey and

I met when we slept together.

A hundred percent.

That's hilarious.

And so we hung out that weekend.

I actually did a profile on him,

a little mini documentary,

like a ten minute documentary.

Watched him win his first ever event at

a big competition.

Yeah.

uh filmed some of that and then we

just started chatting more like out away

from the show and then i'm like hey

why don't you come on the show once

a week and so we had cajun wednesdays

he would come on every wednesday and and

it just has leaked slowly over time into

like now he has his name on the

show and you can't that's adorable i love

it that's great

Jeremy had no intention of setting us up,

Jodi.

No.

No, he did not.

How did you like going from the chat

to being on screen and having a

microphone?

I don't know if y'all have figured this

out yet or not, but...

my wife will tell you right now that

i would talk to that wall right there

if i thought it would talk to me

back so um i spend most of my

day talking to people as a insurance

person salesman service all that good so

like this is extremely natural for me just

to be able to own here and god

as y'all as anybody will tell you is

incredibly easy to talk to

get along with, all that stuff,

even whenever we do have our separate hot

takes that we're fighting about.

It's funny to watch because we're not

actually fighting.

It's mostly just me going, all right,

Scott, whatever.

We're just kind of moving on from there.

uh yeah no i enjoy the shit out

of it um i really really do i

look forward to my to my hour a

day or so you know depending on what

we got going on um it keeps me

paying attention to actually what's going

on in the space and in whatever else

we're going we're talking about and plus

scott and i have um very eclectic music

tastes that kind of align a whole lot

and movies and stuff like that so like

everything that

um you know the obscure movie references

that i get scott also ends up getting

the obscure music references that i get

scott also ends up getting so like a

lot of times we'll be laughing just he

and i and nobody everybody else is sitting

there going the are they laughing at

because it's something that we know and

they don't necessarily so it's pretty fun

And this leads to something I wanted to

ask Garrett specifically because she

evokes so much emotion in me when I'm

going through Instagram and she posts

different stories.

And it started with, who was better,

Stone Cold or The Rock?

And then it went into some nineties music

reference.

And then it went into like the Danny

DeVito,

Penguin Batman was the greatest one of all

time.

Oh, you were mad at me.

You're so mad at me.

And so I just like start typing like...

Really hard.

Yeah.

But, but what I want to,

the question I kind of had for you

is my favorite shows now with Corey or

when CrossFit doesn't even come up.

Yeah.

I feel like glued to CrossFit all the

time because of this show.

But when we get into pop culture,

like I, it is my favorite day.

It's like, I got a mental break.

I got a reset.

if you guys couldn't do a CrossFit show,

what would you want the topic to be?

Ooh, that's fun.

I can do,

I could go into anything pop culture.

I like all that.

I like, uh,

crime documentaries and old school, uh,

whatchamacallit,

like serial killers and who, like,

we can rank them.

Like, you know what I mean?

Yeah, man.

Seriously.

Next week on The Glintons,

we rank serial killers at the same time.

Hey, dude.

Most women love the documentaries on

Netflix and whatever.

Ask Meg.

Meg will tell you.

We've ranked them before.

Does it even count?

You know what I mean?

It was fun.

But I could do music.

I can't believe you have not watched Game

of Thrones.

That was killing me.

I'd love to get into that with you.

It still blows my mind, dude.

Like him not watching Game of Thrones is

on the same level as my wife,

who is two.

So she's yeah,

she's two years younger than me and has

still never seen the Goonies.

Like those two things go together in my

head.

So why I've not watched Game of Thrones.

one like i have this i have weird

like rules for myself like he doesn't read

books yeah what's funny is someone of my

one of my friends is writing a book

and they asked me to read it and

now like i'm stuck but like i i'm

not a big fan of period pieces like

i don't like watching movies or tv shows

that happen in another time i don't know

why

That's all I do.

She loves them.

All I do.

But I tried to watch Game of Thrones.

And at the time it started,

I had like a ten-year-old daughter.

And the first couple episodes, I was like,

I don't know if I can have this

content on in my house with a ten-year-old

girl.

Not while she's awake.

Nope.

Yeah.

And when you have a ten-year-old daughter,

you don't stay up.

As soon as you get a chance to

go to sleep, you're going to sleep too.

And so I tried it two different times.

Both times I felt like I cannot do

this with a kid in the house.

And then I just never went back to

it.

All of those are so weird, though.

Game of Thrones is weird.

Outlander is weird.

Vikings.

They're all weird.

That time period is just a weird time

period with weird things happening.

But I like period pieces, if you will.

It's fun.

I say it's funny it's funny talking about

Game of Thrones I finally got Jennifer to

agree to watch it we started off and

like she was abhorrent by the second

episode she's like they just killed off

the main character and I'm like he's not

necessarily the main character but I

understand where you're coming from we got

to the red wedding yep and as it's

happening I can see sitting up

And I can see the cloud coming over

her face.

And by the end of the episode,

she said, what?

What just happened?

and i was like that just happened because

i had already seen it right so i

knew i knew what was coming and uh

she refused to watch it for another eight

months before she was calm enough to be

able to accept the fact that nobody was

safe like anybody could die at any given

time for no good reason or necessarily

whatever we we got up to the red

wedding and then i said i didn't get

to watch another episode with her anyway

for about six to eight months

That's how long it was before she

recovered.

Oh, Coach T. Yeah,

the Red Wedding pissed me off too.

I was so mad at that.

But then I had to watch the next

episode when it came out just to see

if they could get me back.

Yeah.

I was okay with it because I'd read

enough stuff before I ever started

watching it.

And people were telling me, hey, man,

look, don't get attached to any character.

Don't get attached to any character.

Joey says,

Red Wedding and Battle of the Bastards

episodes goaded.

Facts.

Red Wedding was my last episode for a

couple years that I finally finished.

Yeah, there you go.

It pissed a lot of people off, dude.

Did I see the Red Wedding?

When she watches shows like this,

I kind of will sit down and watch

like an episode here or there with her,

but I don't sit and watch all of

it.

So I was wondering if I had seen

the Red Wedding.

I don't think I know.

You haven't seen any of the Game of

Thrones.

You've now watched House of the Dragon

with me, though.

You've seen the new one.

I don't even know if I actually was

watching it with you.

I think I was sitting in the same

room with you,

but it was on while we were there.

Because my thing is with some of those

shows,

it's like they jump around so much that

it's like, wait, we just were here.

But now we're like twenty steps over here

and then we're going to flip it all

the way this way.

And I'm like,

I that's not what I want to watch

on TV today.

I want something that I can just.

Gee, we are married to the same person.

You hear me?

Because my wife,

we've been watching something and like,

God forbid,

there's flashbacks and shit like that.

And yeah, he gets it.

It just fucks her all up.

Where are we now?

Who did this?

What just happened?

What just happened?

I'm over it.

No,

she makes me watch Love on the Spectrum

and all the chef shows.

Master Chef, Gordon Ramsay,

Everything Chef.

Like all that.

Do you act like I make you?

You don't.

You don't.

You walk through the living room or the

bedroom while I'm watching and then you go

promptly do something else with our kid or

you go.

You take our kid outside.

You go do some more work,

whatever it is.

You're like,

I'm just going to go do something else.

She'll be like, look,

Jesse and Adam just fought for fifteen

minutes about a cracker.

And I'm like,

I don't know what that is.

It's so into the chef shows.

Can you cook?

Yes.

See, I like can't really cook.

So I consider myself a professional couch

chef.

So I'll watch all the shows and I'm

like, why didn't you add acid?

Or this is too sour or whatever.

But to ask me to make it like

I joke.

So we went and saw Megan and Joseph,

right?

We went to go down to D.C.

and and Joseph can cook.

And so he made us food the entire

time that we were there.

And as I was when we were driving

home, I was like,

my poor wife has to go back to

my cooking night.

Colleen is living vicariously through

every chef show that she's seen.

But then you get the vocabulary, right?

So my wife's cooking and I'm like,

why would you add that?

That's not even the same flavor profile.

Oh, yeah.

Or sous vide, right?

The layers of flavor.

Yes.

Yes.

I've been saying that.

I use that,

and my wife rolls her eyes so hard.

The fact that she hasn't pulled one yet

is amazing, but I'd be like,

she'd be watching me do something.

And he's like, why?

What are you?

I said, I'm layering the flavors in.

Corey, you can cook too?

Oh, yeah.

He brags about it.

I've not seen evidence.

Okay.

So we need evidence.

You live in Columbus, Ohio.

Come within an hour and a half of

here and I will drive to wherever you

are.

Believe me.

I expected in Fort Wayne when I roomed

with you.

There's a whole lot of cooking going on

at the Holiday Inn.

I'll warm something up for you on the

coffee pot hot plate.

He was going to MacGyver layers of flavor

with his like one spoon and a straw.

I'm convinced when Joseph and Megan come

to visit that Joseph's going to bring his

own cooking shit.

He's not going to trust that I'm going

to have anything in the kitchen.

And you shouldn't.

You shouldn't, Joseph.

Don't.

So look, you're laughing,

but every time I get in an Airbnb

to go stay somewhere,

to go compete or whatnot,

before I go to the grocery store,

I go to the Airbnb and see what

I might need.

Because I'm not making no bullshit food.

If I got to eat for a couple

of days,

we're going to make something just like if

I was cooking at the house.

So we go to Airbnb first and see,

okay,

did anybody leave any kind of spices,

salt, pepper?

Because I've been in some...

where I went and picked up just food,

got back over there, loaded stuff up,

opened cabinets, and there was nothing.

Nothing.

I'm like, this is some bullshit.

I may not be a chef,

but I stayed.

I cooked at a Holiday Inn Express last

night.

Cooked what?

With what?

I'm just kidding.

I was like,

right now I got to know.

Did he have a hot plate?

Was there?

ACR said,

see you cooking at the Holiday Inn.

See you cooking at the Holiday Inn.

That's what she's talking about.

Yeah.

That's a good song.

Scott, you're in Cleveland.

Where's LeBron going?

Well, I'm actually a Sixers fan.

So I'm hoping he goes to Philadelphia.

I'm born and raised Pennsylvania.

Where Pennsylvania?

Uh, Western side.

So in between Pittsburgh and Erie.

Um, and I'm actually,

my wife and I are looking at retiring

back there.

Ooh.

I'm going to come back over to the

East coast.

Get those blizzards.

What are you doing?

Well, I missed the mountains.

Um, and I'm,

Yeah,

the house we're looking at would be in

the woods and like a nice place just

to kind of get away from it all.

And my property taxes here are enormous.

Oh, I'm sure.

Us too.

Yep.

Us too.

Good old New York.

It's insane.

It's gotten so bad.

So,

but where I am close to are the

panchecks.

Oh, that's cool.

I really wanted to go up and interview

all four of them live, like...

in person.

And I may still try to do that

after the games.

Like after they finish their run and just

kind of debrief with them.

That would be cool.

They're all going, aren't they?

Yeah, four.

Yeah, four of them.

Spencer, Sax.

Yeah,

Saxon and Spencer used to come to my

old gym here all the time because they

were good friends with one of the people

that, one of the members.

And I got to know Sax really well

back in the day.

Who's going from your team?

Is anybody from Clydesdale going to the

games?

Me.

Oh, you are.

Me and my photographer, Ishmael.

Oh, cool.

Technically,

Jamie and Carolyn are as well.

Jamie and Carolyn are going not through

the media realm, but to the Masters games.

Well, did you hear on,

was it Rich's podcast?

Scott was talking about like the media

difficulties or whatever.

Are you going just to cover the games

or are you looking to go to like

the adaptives a little bit, the masters?

Have you looked into that?

So I reached out to CrossFit and asked

if my past covered all of that.

And they said, no,

you have to reach out to each individual

entity.

And if you watch the show at all,

my relationship with Legends has not been

the greatest over time.

But I did reach out to them and

they did grant me a media credential for

the Masters Games.

I have not done... For now.

I've not done Teens or Adaptive.

But I may.

I don't know.

I haven't decided whether I'm going to try

to cover that or not.

That's a lot of stuff in the same

weekend.

Especially with twenty events plus team at

the arena.

That's crazy.

Yeah,

that we're making Megan Joseph do it.

They're the Joseph almost made masters and

Megan does CrossFit.

So they got enough.

They're young still.

They can go run around for twenty events.

And well,

I discovered we may be flying into San

Francisco at the exact same time.

Oh, that's cool.

So I'm trying to catch a lift in

their rental car to San Jose.

I'm sure they will.

Yeah, I'm absolutely sure that they will.

we've actually exchanged phone numbers,

um, so that we can kind of coordinate.

Oh, you're in trouble now.

Good luck.

You've changed phone numbers.

You are in so much trouble now.

And I'm trying to get in on some

free homemade tacos.

There you go.

That you want to experience for sure.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Meg's like we big time now.

Yeah.

I'm excited that they're gonna,

they're gonna go and, uh,

hopefully interview some athletes and get

some behind the scenes stuff and whatever.

It's a, it'll be really cool.

You guys had such a wild experience at

last year's games.

Like so cool.

Like Gary,

you got to do a podcast on the

floor.

It's so cool.

Like I've never had that opportunity.

How hard is it for you to miss

it this year?

Oh, it.

Yeah, it's I have a lot of FOMO.

I want to go so bad.

It's the twentieth games.

There's twenty events.

Yeah, I would love to go.

It just that it's earlier this year.

It's just I it's just too busy with

the deli.

I just can't get away.

But yeah,

I'm going to live vicariously through Meg

and Joseph and just make them go live

on their phone so I can just watch

it while I'm at work and whatnot.

Last year was such an incredible

experience and the opportunities that...

that seven gave us to be able to,

to meet people and talk to people and

do the podcast.

And yeah, it was, it was crazy fun.

Like that's an experience I'll never

forget.

I'm very grateful for that.

That was awesome.

That's like a, well, for most of us,

that's like a once in a lifetime.

Yeah.

Yeah.

That's why it's facts.

I looked at my uncle and I was

like, I have to go.

I'm sorry.

Like I can't,

it's a drive away from us.

Like we couldn't miss it.

You know,

we had been talking about possibly trying

to go to the games for many years

when we drank the Kool-Aid and fell in

love with the sport of CrossFit,

but taking a big,

you know, vacation,

I guess you could say during this time

is just impossible for her.

So when it came up that I was

going to be in New York and I

was going to be in Albany last year,

we were like,

we have to make this work.

And so I moved all of my work.

She told her uncle and like,

we're going to be gone for a couple

of days and we'll come back.

Because the rumors at the time were like

the games was going overseas and going to

all these where they wanted to take the

games.

And I was just like,

we're never going to get a shot at

this again.

Overseas to Albany, New York.

Yeah, right?

I mean, basically, yeah.

Same, same.

Exactly the same thing.

No big deal.

So I've told you guys this story.

Like,

you got me home from Albany that night

because you guys were doing, like,

a recap of everything you went through

that weekend.

And I was so exhausted.

But you guys made me so excited about

everything you had just experienced that

it got me home and not falling asleep

at the wheel.

So...

What were,

what was your favorite moment from last

year's games?

Or is it even possible to like pull

that out?

I think my favorite part of the games

was Garrett's reaction when she met Dave.

I just think overall,

like that was just just as her wife,

like knowing how awesome that moment was

for her.

And the fact that it was on screen

and everybody got to see it and you

could just see meeting Megan and Joseph.

Um, but that was really cool too.

I think there's so many moments that I

could like take from,

you know what I mean?

Like, yes,

meeting Megan and Joseph was super cool.

Meeting all of the people that we have

had the chance to talk to, um,

meeting Chase, um,

Man, it was like rapid fire.

It was like Dave, then Boz, then Katie.

Katie shook my hand.

I don't even know what I said.

I think I said I played basketball in

college too.

I don't even know what I said.

I'm pretty sure that's what I said.

No idea.

You may have played basketball in college.

Katie is a legend in Columbus.

Her name is in the rafters.

I know, I know.

With a retired jersey.

It is.

Yeah,

but that's all G could think of was

like, I also played basketball in college.

I was like, I did.

You look like Ricky Bobby trying to give

an interview.

Hands just kept coming up.

I played, I played,

I played basketball in college.

That's pretty much what it felt like.

It was, I was so starstruck.

It was crazy.

It was, yeah, the whole thing,

like watching Tia Toomey do the handstand

walk workout.

I happened to be on the floor for

that.

That was the, that was insane.

It was just, it was just,

if you can go to the games,

go to the games.

Like it's incredible.

Yeah.

uh katie l says hey g and this

is in the south hampton hall of fame

okay scott so i i didn't know that's

nothing like what katie is katie is like

in a whole state i'm definitely not that

But the best experience for my kid was

randomly finding my way into the meet and

greet line for Rich Froning.

And I didn't realize that I was in

the line.

So as you guys remember,

the vendor village,

there was a small vendor village right

outside of the arena.

And then the big one was like a

building or so away.

So we had gone outside.

Garrett had to go back to the podcast

and it was just the baby and I.

So we went outside to get some air,

get away from everybody.

And I just...

went out and I took the left and

kind of walked around.

And then as I was walking to take

the rest of the circle, I'm like,

why are people not moving?

And then I look up and I'm like,

oh, they're waiting for Mayhem.

And I then I kind of saw out

of the corner.

I was like, oh, my God,

Rich Froning is right there.

I was like, well, now I'm in line.

I have to stay in line.

I can't get out of this line.

So we go up there and

Rich, you know,

I've told this story before.

Rich just makes you feel like you're the

most important person in those two

minutes, if that, that he meets you.

And the fact that he reached down and

shook my kid's hand and made it a

point to make him feel important for that

moment or whatever.

You know, we take a picture.

The woman behind me was very nice.

I was just going to snap a quick

picture with him and little G and get

moving.

And she was like, no, no, no, no,

no.

I'll take one.

So we took the picture.

And then I took about five steps away

from him and my knees buckled.

And I was like, oh, okay,

I'm nervous now.

Hold on, let me just look inside.

So that was probably like one of those

highlight moments for me at the games of

meeting Rich Froning and my kid being able

to meet Rich.

I got to meet Rich in a weird

way.

I used to do Advocare back in the

day and they asked me to speak in

an event and Rich happened to be speaking

at the same event.

And I was like, oh, cool.

Maybe I'll finally get to meet Rich

Froning.

And so I speak.

He comes on later and speaks.

And then we went back to grab lunch

and my wife and I are getting a

plate.

We come into the eating area and it's

packed.

And we're walking around looking and Rich

goes, hey,

there's a couple of seats over here.

I thought I was going to drop my

plate.

You got to sit and have a meal

with Rich Froning?

We actually got to sit and have lunch

with Rich Froning and Hillary.

Yeah,

that's when you look around and you go,

who's he talking to?

Is he talking to us?

She is one woman that I would love

to have the opportunity to talk to.

I think the fact that she shared her

story, I mean,

I know that she's not as public now.

She's very much into the private life of

her kids and everything like that, but...

I remember her in the froning docu movie.

You know what I mean?

And I just loved hearing her story and

how she,

they wanted to be parents and her

fertility journey and all of that type of

stuff, whatever.

She's, she's like a lifetime.

I would love to have the opportunity to

talk to her.

That would be really cool.

Who do your knees buckle for, Corey?

Who do my knees buckle for?

I had a very similar experience.

When you met me at the Holiday Inn.

I had a very similar experience when I

met Rich,

when he came speak at a church that

we were going to at a time.

I thought Corey was going to say Will.

I was like, Will makes you buckle knees?

That's the secret.

Not quite.

It's the exact same experience that

Colleen had.

Like,

he introduces himself.

He shakes your hand.

He looks at you like, and that's just,

that is very,

very telling of how he was brought up

and, and whatnot.

Cause that's, you know, when you,

as a man,

when you introduce yourself to someone,

you shake their hand, you talk to them,

you introduce yourself.

If you get their name,

you say it back to them, um, uh,

type stuff.

Um,

it was it was surreal it was absolutely

it felt surreal i still had the picture

of it so it was a men's night

and uh got to take a picture with

him and whatnot and so uh the church

has it's a big metal building so like

there's not a whole lot of cell phone

service so by the time i got outside

the picture i had sent to my wife

finally sent and

I sent a picture to her of me

and Rich and she texted back almost

immediately,

you can see his abs through his shirt.

And I was like, yeah, yeah, you can.

Spoken like a true wife.

You absolutely can see his abs through his

shirt.

So that has been a running joke at

my house since then.

And that was in like.

Twenty nineteen or so,

something like that,

and that's been a running joke pretty much

since then is that I'll put on like

I get a new shirt or something like

that.

I was like,

you see my abs through my shirt.

Is that like a thing?

Well,

that's what I told Colleen after she told

me that story about Rich because I wasn't

there for it.

And I was like, okay,

that's the only man that your knees are

allowed to buckle for.

Like, I'm okay with it being Rich Bowling.

That's fine.

After that, no.

Sorry.

I...

i got the chance to meet boz in

birmingham that was pretty cool um he is

as laid back as he seems it's wild

like he's so chill when we got to

talk to him on the show he is

so cool it is yo he had his

gloves on with the cut fingers off yeah

so like and he just looked like a

mountain man like that had just built a

cabin it was insane it was so funny

it was so awesome

Well, I don't want to keep you guys.

I know that you have something to be

to at one.

But please, let's do this again.

Yeah, absolutely.

We'd love to.

I have so much more to talk about.

And

maybe we can hop on during the games

and do like some recap stuff.

I can hook up with Joseph and Meg

and maybe we can get Corey on.

Yeah.

Do some fun stuff from the game.

I'll be available.

Um,

cause I'll be actually competing at

monster games, uh,

same weekend as the game.

So like,

if you want to do something at night,

uh,

absolutely yeah we're around whatever you

want to do um yeah hook up with

joseph and megan and just let us know

and you know we're gonna obviously be

available here at home you know

surrounding whatever you guys are doing so

yeah for sure this was so much fun
