Charted

What is Charted?

Like a master surveyor, Jesus gives us clear directions to find a fulfilling, purpose-filled relationship with Himself - a map to the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Charted is a daily devotional written by the junior class at Fountainview Academy (Class of 2019). Based on the book Steps to Christ, this book explores the path to the Originator and Provider of Genuine Joy. We don't have to be confused about the way. The certainty is in the journey: divinely Charted.

Through influences seen and unseen, our Saviour is constantly at work
to attract the minds of men... – Steps to Christ, pg. 28
A common Rubik’s Cube has 6 sides and colors and is also
made up of 27 little cubes that compose a big cube of around 570mm.
Guess what? This tiny cube has about forty-three thousand
quadrillion possible combinations. If you were able to turn a Rubik’s
Cube three times per second uninterruptedly, it would take at least 450
billion years to complete all these possible combinations. Hence, it is
impossible to solve a Rubik’s Cube by just randomly twisting it.

One day I saw that my Rubik’s Cube had been solved. It had
always been a mess, but now it was a tidy and lovely square cube with
all the colors in the right place. I grabbed it and looked intently. What
if I just twist it once and then turn it back? I wondered. I then twisted it
once and solved it easily. It is way too easy to just twist it once.
I started to twist it twice and turn it back in order to solve it
again. Then I tried doing it three times and then four. However, after
five or six times, I found out that I couldn’t find my way back to solve
it. I was lost until my father taught me how to find my way back and
ultimately how to solve the Rubik’s Cube on my own.
Satan is trying to turn me in the wrong direction, and when I
take matters into my own unskilled hands, I find myself lost. I calculate
that to make one wrong turn is just fine, but that’s how I fall into
Satan’s trap—egoism: the belief that I am self-sufficient. However,
when I do find myself lost, Jesus is always waiting with the solution.
He knows more than forty-three thousand quadrillion combinations for
getting me back on track.
