Welcome, dear listeners. Today, we delve into the responsibilities of the Levite families and the miraculous events surrounding their duties. The Levites, divided into three families, had a specific age range for active duty: from 30 to 50 years old. During this period, their primary role was to carry the sacred items of the Tabernacle.
One of the most fascinating aspects is the transportation of the altar. According to Rashi, a divine flame descended from heaven onto the altar. When it came time to pack the altar for transport, a miracle occurred: the heavenly flame remained, ensuring the sanctity and continuity of the divine presence.
Looking ahead to next week's portion, we uncover the tasks assigned to the family of Gershon and the family of Merori. While their duties did not involve the holiest of items, they were still considered holy. Every instruction given to them had to be meticulously followed, emphasizing the importance of their role in maintaining the sanctity of the Tabernacle.
