Hop along to conversations with the Kaz sisters, Ashley and Angela. You'll find a mix of silly, serious and everything in between. 🦘
This is sisters Ashley and Angela.
And this is sister Rooy
Let's get right into it. Avril Lavigne.
We saw her.
What'd you think?
She was so cute. And I loved her.
Honestly. It just. It brought me back to Warped Tour vibes and I was totally here for it. Loved it all.
Which Warped Tour, I guess is actually back this year? Guess who's back.
Alright. Yeah, I guess according to your husband.
That's funny. I went, guess who's back. back again. And you went the other way. Um, yes. Justin said that Warped Tour is back and it's in November and I'm like, maybe we should go.
I think we will because there's so many cool bands that are going to be going.
Totally.
And I miss them all.
Has Jake ever been to a Warped Tour?
Not Warped Tour, but I have dragged him to a state champs. Not that I was really dragging, but yeah, we bonded over state champs.
I have never been to a Warped Tour, so. Jake and I are Warped Tour virgins.
Can't wait for you to experience it all. It's gonna be great.
It sounds fantastic.
You and your fishnet tights that you're already planning.
I so want to wear fishnet tights. I want it. I should have. Guys, we bought these tickets way more in advance than we did for Pink. And if you listened to our previous concert episodes one, you will know that we just always wanted to see Avril Lavigne. So we made that come to fruition. But we bought these so in advance that I totally could have planned outfits. Well, more in advanced. And guys did not.
Yeah, I noted that as a fail.
Total fail.
That we just like in our preparations there was so much we could have planned for, the coordination of outfits. Because we talked about prior, prior, concerts where it would have been so fun to dress up for Taylor Swift.
Yeah.
And failed on that front.
That was also a last minute thing that happened though.
Yeah. Everything. Like we just had so much opportunity. But the difference. We're now moms of two.
Yeah. That will be our excuse.
Yeah.
For not planning ahead on this one.
Because the other fail.
I totally should have. I would have been able to do some fishnets and I think I could pull it off. And I'm super sad about it because I wouldn't wear fishnets for any other reason. Except now maybe Warped Tour.
I don't think it's a maybe. I think it's just going to happen.
Yeah. Totally. Should just Amazon some right now.
Pretty much. Yep. Get ahead of that.
Most concerts we go in blind not knowing setlists
But the other thing that we Said I or I said that I wanted to potentially prepare for was most concerts I go in blind not knowing any of the songs.
Yes.
And this time around I said, hey, I actually think I want to know what the set list is. So I know every single song.
I was gonna say correction. Not that we don't know the songs. It's the set list of the songs.
Right, the set list. But also failed on that front. I really wanted to, but honestly, Emma discovered Young and Dumb and that was all we could play. It wasn't the worst thing, but so cute.
I also was obsessed with Young and Dumb.
So good.
It's a new single that she has with Simple Plan. But, I listened to the set list once when we first bought the tickets and I think that was the only time. And I couldn't even remember all of them.
Well, yeah, I think on Spotify I might have played it once, but not nearly enough to know. Oh, these are all the songs I now need to memorize. If I didn't know a few.
Yeah. Because there were maybe most of them.
Yeah. There are probably five that are just. I would recognize that it's Avril and I might know the chorus, but I would never have known all of the verses.
I think there were two that I didn't know. All of them fit backward and forward.
Yeah.
And it was from that one album of like rock and roll. I think it was like her self titled album.
Yeah. but so good. But you know the other fail in preppering. Prepper. Preppering.
Preppering.
Preparing.
Prepping. Preparing. You put it together and made preppering.
It sounds legit.
But stop trying to make preppering happy. Hap. Oh, darn it.
Stop trying to make fun of me.
Yeah.
Ok.
No, the other thing that we failed to prepare for that actually Mater or our mom. For those of you who don't know, I affectionately call our mom Mater. Anyhow, Mater suggested we leave at noon.
Which we both laughed at. And Angela and I both laughed at it behind her back. Sorry, Mom.
Yeah, I love you, Mom. But I was thinking, you know, 2pm would probably be safe very early, but like really safe to guarantee A good lawn seat.
Yeah. Cause we were in the lawn area of this amphitheater.
Yeah, like two would have been the earliest that I would have ever suggested. And then. Yeah, and then we were just kind of reliant on babysitters.
Yeah, but we were reliant on babysitters. And also Justin came with us and he was working. Cause we went on a Friday. So we kind of went around his schedule a little bit and we thought that we had enough time by leaving by 4:30. Well, we tried to leave a little before, but yeah, we technically left at 4:15. Let's just be honest. Angela and I, we aren't. We're on. We're not on time.
People not known to be on time.
Yeah, that sounds better than what I said, but I'm gonna leave that.
Facts. But you know what I was thinking?
What were you thinking?
Did we, make all the openers before Taylor Swift.
For the ERAS Tour?
Yeah. Did we? No, we missed the first opener, right?
I think we missed both.
I think we came in maybe on the one before because I remember seeing. Who, Who was it?
Carly B. Carly B. Carly B. I don't know, she had like B Dad, B Do Bop or something. C X Charlie. I don't know.
We have legitimately missed all openers at recent concerts
Either way. I don't remember the name of the openers. However, I remember coming in during one of the openers. So I was just thinking in my memories back of all of these recent concerts since Taylor Swift, we have legitimately missed all openers. A lot of the openers, if not all.
I mean, coming in where the openers.
Are singing like maybe the last song of their song.
For Pink, we saw, ah, a lot of Sheryl Crow's songs. We knew at least two or three that she. Well, okay, we were pregnant and we went to the bathroom. So I guess we weren't like watching her, but we could hear her. But by the time we were in our seats, I think she still performed maybe two songs. Yeah, she might have been the most we've seen.
Yeah, I just like more recently for all of the concerts. I guess post Covid I have always now missed the openers compared to concerts pre Covid that I remember going to because I'm like, I definitely made and saw all of the openers and I just thought it was funny.
The only one that I remember actually seeing the openers for was the second time I saw Kelly Clarkson at I think the Rose bowl theater or something in Chicago. She had parachute open and another Guy.
And then you became obsessed.
Yes, and then another guy whose name isn't coming to me. But I liked his songs. And yes, I am parachute obsessed.
Mhm.
We've definitely seen some openers for Mariana's Trench, and we liked one of those too.
Yeah, I'm just saying, every concert, now that I've gone with you, I've missed all the openers.
So you're saying I'm the culprit?
I don't know. I could be too. I don't know. It's just us together. We apparently need to be better. And for Shania Twain. I don't know what her openers are.
I looked.
Are they ones that we recognize?
Nothing that I recognized.
Which is just funny because they're like the other openers we knew.
But yeah, we wanted to see the openers. I mean, we got to see Simple Plan perform Young and Dumb with Avril Lavigne.
Well, long story short, I made note of that and I was like, you know, let's try to maybe make all of it for Shania Twain. We'll see. Because it's us.
And we'll see. Yeah, we will see.
The audience for Avril were all ages
so anyhow, was there a specific iconic look that you were really envisioning before we just last minute pulled our outfits together an hour before we left?
No, I guess the night before we left, that's when I was like, what should I wear? And I thought to myself, I had black pants and gray pants. And that was about as far as I got. And then while I was googling stuff, I was like, ugh, I wish I had combat boots. And I wish I had fish fishnet stockings.
Yeah, I did see some girl with some tinsel in her hair. That was fun.
M. Yeah, those. So we were on the lawn and we had these two. So one, the age. The ages of the audience for Avril.
Were just like all ages.
All ages.
The only age I did not see was maybe a newborn.
Yeah, we saw from children to. I was surprised to see Gen Z and then like millennials like us. And then like, mom was there too. Probably older people.
I. I was shocked more that there were a ton of kids, under five.
Yes. So there were these two girls to our left that were just dancing the night away. They looked like twins because they were in These cute crochet dresses.
And they had their hair in like little space buns. Yeah. And they were just dancing around and they had to be like eight.
Super young.
Yeah, they're so cute. And yeah, I said something to Justin about the ages of everyone there and he was like, it's because we all like this music. And now we've all had children and we are, we want them to be obsessed. Yes. Which is why I was totally here.
For my daughter, just blasting and wanting to.
Yeah. We were like, that's Emma in a couple years.
I mean, so much so that my husband Jake. for those of you who don't know him, he's not this music enthusiast where he knows all of the artists.
And poor Jacob just cannot hold a tune.
Well, that too.
But I think that he doesn't know. I think that's also like if you can sing and do things, I feel like you are just more in music. I don't know.
I guess, I don't know. But he, just doesn't know the names of songs. I mean, when I told him that I was going to wear one of his ties, he was just like, okay, sure. Sounds a little strange. And I was just thinking, do you not remember Avril Lavigne?
You grew upon her age.
And he was like, no, I didn't watch her music videos or anything. And I'm like, you didn't need to watch the music videos. You just needed to know who was popular on, uh, the radio. Yeah.
So Avril Lavigne's iconic look is wearing a tie. So that we did do.
Yes.
And we got tops, some ties. Yeah.
And.
And let me tell you, they're fun to dance around with. I had something just to like, Yeah.
I totally play with. I was hitting Ashley with it.
You totally hit me with it.
Using it as a microphone. Just, you know, so much you could do with the darn tie accessory.
But it was hot around my neck and I was like, hm m. But I guess I'm just like a hot person these days too. I just run hot.
You always do. Yeah. Me not.
I am always, burning up. I don't know if it's postpartum stuff or if I've always been this way.
I don't know.
I mean, I definitely was when I was pregnant.
I definitely ran hotter when I was pregnant. It was the only time I ran hot. Now I guess I'm evening out. I am evening it out.
I am always Hot. That is what I'm getting to getting at.
Yes.
Getting ready for the concert
so, the only other thing while I was trying to prep for this concert and her look was I have short hair. Shorter than shoulder length, I guess.
Oh, my gosh. If we planned better, I could have given you my hair extensions.
Uh, I thought about wearing them and then I was like, I'm gonna be too hot for that.
Did not know you had hair extensions.
You did? Because I've told the story a million times that I accidentally got these sent to me. I accidentally opened them up. They were not mine. I tried finding the person that they went to. It failed. And so then I ended up with hair extensions. And it was the right color.
Your hair.
Yes. Crazy.
That would have been so fun.
Yeah.
Maybe for Warped Tour.
maybe November is cooler.
Yeah, we'll see. We'll see. Because my hair is a different color than your hair and I don't know what that would look like anyhow. apparently Avril has not had short hair because it's always long. Even when she documented for the Internet and her fans the fact that she was getting a haircut, it was not a short haircut. So anyway, that's, that's what I discovered in my research.
Did you just like, research with your hair?
I just knew I was gonna straighten it because She always has straight hair.
I was going to straighten it and then weather called for rain and I was like, the humidity in my hair. I'm not gonna touch this because it's just not even gonna be worth it. in an hour into it. So I just let it go free.
Yeah. I mean, during concert, it was completely useless. Ruthless. My m. Efforts. You can see some of the pictures just already waving it out.
Yes.
Yeah. But the other thing that we confirmed as we were all in Avril world was her age. Would you believe how old she was? 40 years old.
I thought she was slightly younger and like your age, if not a year or two older than you.
I guess for you, because you are younger than me. I suspected she was just a little older than me.
Yeah.
But no, uh, she's 40.
It's just funny.
And still guys. She's cute.
I know. And just to imagine, for me, the only current 40 year old that, uh, immediately came to mind when I, when we realized Avril was 40, was our oldest brother.
Yeah.
And I was just thinking, I mean, he is absolutely Not a singer, but you just imagine, like, the people that you know who are of a certain age, and you're like, wow, that's. That. Is that person, that age just dancing around, singing, having the time of her life.
Brother could not. He could not be dancing and jumping around.
No.
I mean, maybe he's in better shape than I give him credit for. I look at Taylor Swift and she's older than me, and I'm just like. I mean. And I also know that she trains for or trained for the ERAS tour, but I'm just like, I could not. I'd be dying because, you know, I run hot.
Well, she's my age. She's younger than me by six months. Ish.
Right. But she's older than me.
I know. But then I started thinking, dang, I could totally. If I was training for that. Could totally.
I mean, anybody could if they were training for it.
Right. That's what she had to do.
I know.
Surprised she did not sing Things I Never Say
So I have not looked back at the set list to see what. Because sometimes, you know, set lists, artists, bands, they'll play a couple different songs in different locations and so. But it will all be on the set list on Spotify that's, created.
So I have not looked at that. But I have been going back. I started at her very first album, and I started listening to her music all the way through. I'm on the third album.
I need to do that.
And I was kind of just also going through to see if there were any songs that I wish she would have played.
Yeah.
And I know I told you that Justin got me one of her albums when we first started dating. It's, um, Good Night or Goodbye Lullaby. And I don't think she played very many songs from that album. But I'm not there yet, so I'll get there when I get there. But from her very first album, I'm surprised that she did not sing Things I Never say.
Ah, that was a good one.
And that's such a good one.
M.
Yeah, that one. So I was kind of bummed for that one, but that's the only one so far that I've been bummed about. And I was like, oh, well, she's played all the other good ones from the albums so far that I've listened to.
One of my highlights, when she ended up doing an encore.
she came back and did three songs that we were very happy about.
Yes.
but the one. I don't know the names of all of these songs, but the one where it's like Head Above Water.
That's the name of the song.
That is the name of it. I ended up just trying to play it on the piano.
Yes. Because it's beautiful.
It's so simple. Also, Jake was like, how do you do that?
Uh, the ear for it.
Hear it. And I know I cannot do that.
Match the note I can sing, but I cannot do the piano thing like you.
Well, anyway, because of this concert, I will now, I think, learn to play it because it's also super simple chords and whatnot.
It's a beautiful song. I love it.
So good. I think it's because of her Lyme disease that.
Yes.
She ended up having the lyrics or writing the lyrics for that.
Yeah, she wrote it because.
So now I'm just like, all in the feels about it. I'm like, good for you, Avril. Expressing all those emotions. And now we can play the angsty stuff. And it's oh, so good.
Yeah. I was getting chills, I think, during that song.
Yeah.
Because I told you, I think she wrote this because of the Lyme disease.
Yeah.
or if Justin were here, he'd be like, well, maybe it was really Melissa.
Avril Conspiracy Theory
That brings me to. Yep. I wanted to ask, so only because of Justin, do I even know about this con?
Uh, well, of course, because he's our conspiracy guy.
Conspiracy theory. Yes. Thank you. Controversy. But it wasn't because of her Lyme disease. After I googled a little bit more of why people think.
Oh, my gosh, you went down the conspiracy rabbit hole.
Not a ton.
Oh, uh, well, enough.
I wanted. What did I even Google if Avril is real? Currently, I don't remember.
Was Avril Lavigne replaced?
But anyway, you explain it for the.
I don't know if I really know it other than she died at some point in her life and was body double switched out for this Melissa chick, and now it's actually Melissa who is, you know, singing and taking the, uh, the name of Avril Lavigne.
Yeah. I think I wanted to know the reason she.
This is not the only conspiracy that is like, this. I feel like Lindsay Lohan has also had this because of the parent trap. They think that there was actually another twin, but Lindsay Lohan, like, killed her or something and took all the fame.
Oh, my gosh.
Redonk.
I've never heard this either.
So back to Avril and Melissa.
so people believe Avril Is just replaced by this girl Melissa. But it wasn't. I don't believe it was what Justin thought that it was because of her Lyme disease. I think it was really soon after she became famous. but, gosh, I wish. I wish I wrote it down, whatever it was to refer to, because I don't remember, so. It's a really great story, guys.
Google proves how easy it is to start a conspiracy theory
I know, but I was just gonna ask you, do you think Avril is Avril, or do you think Avril is Melissa?
I think Avril is Avril. I agree.
But Google told the world that it was a, uh, blogger who just made, uh, up to show and prove how easy it is to start a conspiracy theory. And now here we are.
Yes. I mean, that's exactly what I would have just said. that just proves to me, you know, can't trust everything you read on the Internet, kids.
You can literally just make everything up. Everything terrible. So sad.
Highlights from Avril's concert
Anyhow, did you have highlights? Favorite things that happened in the concert?
Well, I did know that she brought people up on stage. I did not know the amount of people that she brought on stage, but it's her thing, I guess, to bring people up on stage and give them skateboards.
Yes.
yeah.
Based on the pictures that I had seen on her socials, it seemed like our audience, there were a ton that were picked up. And it was funny, the reasons she started. She started reading the signs that fans had in the audience.
Yeah.
And picked those individuals based on whatever signs she read off.
Essentially, like, liked.
And. Well, the first one, that she read was someone who has been surviving cancer for eight months.
Yeah.
Awesome. And then the second one, though, that was just funny. It was like, hey, Avril, how about I come up there on stage with you and simple plan so that we can take a picture. And she's like, okay.
She's like, yeah, get up here.
And we're like, oh, if only it was that easy.
I mean, one guy literally just said, can we trade skateboards? And she's like, yeah. so he clearly knew that she did this.
Yeah. I just didn't know that it was based on signs in the audience, but we were way too far for her to see.
Way too far. But, you know, still a good time. And
I did like the fact that she started one of her acoustic songs and we're, like, singing along, bopping along, and Angela and I Look at each other. And we're just like. Something sounds off. We're like, what's going on?
Immediately I was like, this is weird. There's a weird sound when I shouldn't hear the sound.
Yeah. And Avril got through the opening part of that song and then just stopped, looked at her band and was like, guys, what's happening?
But then she was like, you follow me.
Yeah. She's like, I'm the one singing, so let's just follow what I'm gonna do and uh, restart the song. And then they restarted it and it sounded beautiful. And we were like, yeah, that's better.
So good. So some of our highlights. One, we did not sit at a sit down restaurant prior to going to this concert.
You'd call that a highlight.
We went fast food, Arby's. I haven't had it in months.
Yeah, we do not have an Arby's around here. And we love Arby's. Probably because we don't have it around here.
Exactly. So that's why it was kind of a highlight. Because I also don't eat a ton of fast food.
Venue and traffic were horrendous
Okay. I was just thinking of a highlight throughout the show, not for the night.
So like, we also completely forgot to talk about how horrendous.
Oh, we'll get there. I was gonna say after. if we're talking about the whole day, night, whatever leading to the show. Yes, the show was the highlight. Which like, of course. Good. It was good. But guys, getting to this show was horrendous. So.
Horrendous.
Which goes back to. We should have listened to our mom and maybe left at noon.
Mother knows best.
Yes.
For real. Mhm. So we knew that there was weather in Tampa on the way in.
There was weather by us.
Well, yeah. Okay. But we were getting, we were getting updates that the doors had not opened. So we were very hopeful that there was a chance that, hey, maybe we won't miss the openers.
Okay, so here's the thing. We decided to leave, two hours before the doors opened.
No, really? Two and a half. Did they open it?
Crap. When were they supposed to open?
concert started at 7:00pm Gates opened at 5:30.
Okay. So we left one hour before gates opened.
That's terrible.
What were we thinking?
What were we thinking?
Okay. And we live an hour and a half away from the venue. And as we are on our way, we're getting text and email updates from the venue saying that there's lightning in the area. It's an outdoor venue, so doors aren't opening yet. And we're like, okay, maybe we got a chance. Because literally our time ETA just kept rising minute by minute. Add in a minute literally.
So it wasn't great.
It was not great. We ended up being in this car for four hours. Yikes. 4:30 to 8:30.
But also the traffic. Okay. We could have planned by leaving earlier. We could never have predicted how atrocious the parking situation was going to be in entering this venue.
Oh my gosh. And ah, we paid for parking ahead of time. Yeah.
It was ridiculous.
Yes.
Guys.
Basically we would have seen at least Simple Plan and maybe have been walking in for we the Kings because we were walking in when Simple Plan was on. But we would have probably been doing that if they had let us in the first entrance. So. You know what? I blame the venue totally.
I really do too.
And I honestly don't think I'll be back to this venue.
I will never again.
I'm trying to think of if there was anybody that I'd be like, yes, we have to go. Even though it's at this terrible venue, but also like lessons learned. And we would leave a day before.
That's the solution right there. That really is. Get a hotel. We get there so that we have a 15 minute commute.
10 minute walk.
Yeah, a walk would be better.
Yep. There was a hotel right across the street.
So yeah, future concerts. That's what we'll do.
Terrible.
Angela was on her phone more than usual
Anyway, so then the weather was terrible. It starts clearing up though as we continue and head for closer and closer toward our venue. Which is all great signs.
Yes.
And good enough that we even saw a double rainbow. That was a great highlight too.
My gosh, Double rainbow.
I was stoked.
She was. Angela has never taken so many pictures of a rainbow. I feel like that at least I have seen.
I don't know. I don't think you have really been with me in a bit with a place where I want to take pictures.
Sure.
At home. Of course.
Okay, sure.
Maybe I think our listeners need to understand I am not a person. I'm not a phone person where I have it on my person all the time.
Yeah. She's the person like, she's like, where's my phone? Someone call it because I can't find it. And uh, then she's also the person that probably has a million notifications, whereas I do not like any notifications and have them all Sorted through and read.
Yeah, no, I don't care enough what I look at for notifications. That's what I do. I look for WhatsApp because that's our main form of communication between you. I'm looking at my sister, guys, and duh. And my husband and my mom. Like, those are probably the top three people I text the most.
Uh, and our group chat.
Well, yeah, like that.
Which is us and our husbands.
Yeah. Yeah. So I, like, Ashley is just automatically connected and tied. Like Justin is assumed to be part of that connection. I spose sorry. but then I guess text messages is the next. And a phone call, see if anyone called me. But that's rare.
Unless you're expecting a call, I guess.
Exactly. I'm usually expecting a call if I'm checking for. Checking for a phone call. Otherwise, guys pretty much ignoring my phone.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Anyhow. So apparently Ashley and Justin think I was on my phone a ridiculous amount of time because I've been sitting in this car for four hours. What else am I honestly supposed to do?
Guys, Honestly, what did. Well, we talked non stop because obviously and Justin was working in the back with like noise canceling headphones. And then mom had to be on her phone doing something. I don't even know if she could hear us.
She did for the most part because she commented that she didn't need her hearing aids and is really happy that she could hear and understand us.
Yeah, i guess So I can't believe we are such scatterbrained. Because the story of Avril should have started from the beginning until and through. But we just dove right into the concert.
I was gonna suggest starting there, but honestly, we. Like you said, we dove right in.
Yeah. Ah. Um. Scatterbrains, guys. But we get into my car and Angela doesn't even have her makeup done.
No, I had time in the car, guys.
Yeah, she had an hour and a half. I get it. Which turned into four. But as she's driving. What did I ask you to get me? Was it. Did I ask you for a napkin I forgot about? How could you forget.
Oh, my gosh, guys, this is not a highlight, but just more of like an utter Shock at the mess that is my sister's glove box.
Glove compartment.
Glove compartment.
I was going to say don't say car because my car was clean.
Okay.
Oh, I think. Okay, this is what happened. I had a bunch of stuff that was on your seat. The passenger seat.
A story from two weeks prior
Yes.
We're gonna back it up a little further because about two weeks prior I bought that much further, I think. So I bought my son Ace a spaceship.
Oh, yes.
And I very much miscalculated how big the spaceship was gonna be.
This is a toddler life sized spaceship, guys, basically.
And Justin owns a truck. But I was like, this will be small enough, it can fit in the trunk of my Tesla. So I take my Model X and I take both kids and I go on my way. 30 minutes. It was like 25 minutes to go get this spaceship.
What were you thinking?
I thought that it was a little smaller and that it would fit in my X.
Uh, wow.
So I am trying to get the spaceship into my car in this stranger's driveway. Just trying to shove it in. I'm like angling it all a different way. And I need to unscrew some of these screws to take it somewhat apart to get it to fit. So I go to my glove compartment because I could have sworn that I had my little green pocket knife, because it has a little screwdriver. It's not in there, but I take this glove compartment completely apart and put everything on this chair. Ended up having to text message the stranger. I was like, do you by chance have a screwdriver? And are you home? Because she just left this spaceship on this front porch. And luckily when I went to go grab it off the porch, I heard talking from the inside. So I was like, I hope it's her. This girl, she came out with a drill. She's like, I'm ready. And then, you know, spaceship fit. And I got it home. So fast forward two weeks later, sitting.
In the front passenger seat of Ashley's car on the way to this concert.
Yep. it was still a mess because I couldn't fit everything Back in my glove compartment. So Angela was just like, what do I even do with all this stuff? And I said, ah, put it in the glove compartment if you can get it to fit. And you open the glove compartment, and you're just like, what is this?
Things were falling out. No, I thought, I think something fell out. And then I tried shoving in whatever Ashley was trying to have me shove in there, and it just would not shut. I tried many different angles.
So again, Angela had a, uh, one and a half hour drive, which turned into four. And, uh, she reorganized my glove compartment. And, um, thanks. Now it's beautiful, because then on the way home, we made my napkins accessible, easily accessible with my glove compartment. And on the way home from the Avril Lavigne concert, what do we see crawling in the inside of the windshield?
A cockroach.
A cockroach.
Was not expecting that, guys.
It was a little baby cockroach. And it was like, Angela. And like, again, mom is sleeping now in the back because it's late, and Justin is working away in the back with noise canceling headphones.
they didn't even know that we.
Had a wrong turn.
Oh, my gosh.
And have to turn around.
Yep. Yes. Also, that happened. Oblivious.
Until they listen to this.
I told Justin later that night. I was like, you didn't even know that We detoured 10 minutes, and he was like, what? I was like, we did a U turn, and you didn't even notice. Anyway, it was fine. So.
Until we saw this cockroach.
Yes. I, see it crawling on my side, and I'm driving, and I'm like, angela, there is a cockroach. And you're like, whatever. It's not even that big. I'm just like. I'm just letting you know that if this thing flies at me and I freak out and we crash and die. I told you there was a cockroach. And you were like, so. Got it. It's tiny.
She's so dramatic.
Let me get a napkin.
So I get a napkin from the.
Newly organized glove compartment, and this cockroach.
Literally flies in my flew
Angela, I think it hit your phone because you were using your phone as a flashlight, maybe.
Because I did not. I did not feel it hit me.
Ashley was driving when she spotted the tiny bug on her windshield
The way my soul left my body. Because I knew it. this thing is gonna attack. this. It was like the size of a fingernail. It was so small.
It was tiny. Definitely not worth Ashley freaking out about. However, it was hilarious. The reaction, because Ashley just, like, right hand straight to the mouth to cover and just, like, hold her scream in, apparently, because it freaked her out that the cockroach didn't even fly towards her. It flew towards me.
It flew. I feel like you were leaning and it flew this way. This was the third time he evaded you, though. You skipped over the fact that you tried smushing him on my side, and he fell into the stairs. Speaker. And then you were like, I'm not gonna smush him, on your speaker, because then you're gonna get guts in there. That was like, fine.
Yeah.
And then you lost him.
I. I knew he would come back.
Oh, my gosh.
I was not worried about this bug, guys.
And that's when I was like, okay, you just need to pinch him. And you were like, I know. I got this. And then he flew at you.
Yeah. And then somehow, um, body gone. What did I say? I just said, shut it.
Yeah. I immediately just, like, covered my mouth, focused on driving, and you were just like, shut up. Uh, you're like, don't say a word. Don't look in my vicinity until I kill it. Because you need to focus on the drive and not crash. Yep.
And she did. And then I killed that bug.
Guys, There are guts on my window.
Ah, Well, I was. I tried really cleaning it off with the super dry napkin. I had no other.
Well, yeah, that's fine.
Resource.
I need to clean the window anyway from the parking because she put window chalk on my. On my thing.
Yeah. Completely forgot about the glove box. Completely forgot about the bug.
Mom surprised us and Justin got merch
But the other highlight that I wanted to bring up.
Yeah.
Which topped it all off to a great start. Was what Mater brought and surprised us with.
Oh, yes.
Total mood enhancer. Because, guys, our mom listens to the podcast, and she listened to an episode where we talked about some lipstick that I stole.
Even funnier.
And I threw away at some point because of the guilt that I stole it. But it was, you know, some yellow lipstick that turned hot pink. And our mom found some lipstick that was yellow and turned hot pink.
Yep. And she gave that as a present to us. And I never even put mine on because. Because we were four hours late. Well, not four hours late. We were distracted. And I just, ran out of the car to get to this concert because we literally got to our lawn seat 10 minutes before Avril decided to pop up on stage. Absolutely ridiculous.
At least we got there in time, because we even had to make a pit stop to the women's restroom, which was ridiculous.
Yeah, it's because we arrived as soon as Simple Plan got off. And so the next person was gonna be Avril. And everybody just beelined it, uh, for the. For the bathrooms.
It was like we were always almost in line, dude. It just kept building, growing person by person, and we were just a person away to get into the line.
It was ridiculous. I've never.
I've never witnessed something like that.
It was crazy.
the joys of being a woman.
But the joys of bringing a husband. Justin, shout out. He just, like, left in the middle of one of the sets and just went and got us some merch. So that was nice.
Yeah. After he got over the fact that he missed the. Apparently one band that he really wanted to see because he had never seen them. Um, which apparently we just should have left at noon, folks. yeah, he totally got in.
Line, but they're playing at Warped Tours, so maybe we'll see them then.
It'll all pan out.
Oh, it will all pan out. Yes.
But, basically, I have not bought merch at a concert probably since high school.
I've only bought it for Mariana's Trench in the last few years.
Yeah, I'm just. Usually I'm really picky. There's really nothing that I really like. But once I did see that crop top, I was like, yeah, you know, those are great colors. I like it.
Yeah, it was super cute.
So I got myself a crop top, guys, and I'm really excited to wear it.
And I got myself some shorts because Justin would probably divorce me if I got more sweatshirts.
Yeah. And these shorts had pockets, so.
And it had a bonus pocket on the back. I was so happy when I got home and I put them on and I was like, dude, I have three pockets.
That's pretty great. And there you go.
Pockets, you know. You know.
Yeah. So, ultimately, it was great to have Justin there for the merch runs. He got mom some water during. And also tied the tie in the back of the car.
Oh, yes. Justin had to tie your tie.
Yeah. Because Jake, did not have his ties pre tied and my makeshift tie was not gonna cut it.
Yeah.
And so, yeah.
Really pulled everything together.
It all panned out.
It really did. We're really emphasizing the panned out because pan out was a topic of conversation in this four hour on car ride.
Let us know if you guys know why that's a phrase, because we know now.
Yep, we do.
Wrapping it up
that was our Avril experience, guys. Thanks for literally taking a trip. Front, forward, backward, in between, in all.
The ways, in every corner. I'm sure we still missed some things.
I'm sure we did, too.
But it was a good night. And, dreams were lived.
Yeah, because we always had wanted to see Avril. So now we can say we did.
Yep,
Okay, bye.
Okay, bye.
