Full show transcript:
Which is more suspicious to you? A house with zero Halloween decorations or one that's decorated way too enthusiastically.
Well, neither of those are suspicious.
Nah, they're suspicious.
I'm that's not the right word. For me, anyway. Like when I look at a house that it has no decorations, I think, well, they must not like Halloween. Or they uh didn't pull the decorations down yet. Or you know, maybe they just don't care about Halloween. That's fine. Not everybody loves it.
Right.
And then I see the people that leave their decorations up all year round, and I go, you love Halloween.
Well,
you have nowhere to store it. That's what I think. Yeah.
Your giant skeleton.
Hey, there was a neighbor down the street who had one of those like the large skeletons that was like a half skeleton, so it looked like he was coming out of the ground. Yeah.
And then they
put it on the side of their house. I remember that. It's not out. It's
not out.
Maybe they moved. Because I think that's a rental.
Oh.
So they might have moved. Oh. Or they sold it because they went, what are we gonna do with this thing all year? Why did we buy this? Why did we pay hundreds of dollars for a giant plastic skeleton that we cannot fit anywhere?
Every time I see decorations like that, I go, where are these people keep this stuff?
Yeah.
Where are you housing all this stuff? I have minimal decorations. And I still have buckets and buckets.
Storage units. I don't want to pay for a storage unit for my Halloween decorations. Right. But if you didn't want to keep, like if we didn't have that the shelf that uh my dad and I built in the garage. We didn't have that for storage. We have the shed, but the shed's got its own set of stuff. Where would we put stuff?
Probably a storage unit.
Yeah, you can't. Actually, the storage unit wouldn't be that bad of an idea because then you could just out of sight, out of mind. And then you could go get it and put it back. But you're paying, you know, at least $50 a month.
At least. Yeah.
Just just to store your stuff.
Yeah, it's not crazy.
Right. I would find at home storage options so that I didn't have
to pay six a minimum of six hundred dollars a year just to hold my Christmas tree. Right.
No way.
Right.
Yeah, not worth it. So anyway, which is more suspicious? Neither suspicious, but I I think I'm somewhere between the two. I don't like a house without fallen Halloween decorations, but I also like to put them away at the end of the season. I don't leave them up all year.
Hey, I put the wreath out.
I know it's sideways.
It's hung wrong. Well, I uh I got home and I was like, oh, the corn husks. And so I tied a ribbon around
a and I made them look kind of cute. And then you didn't even notice. No, I didn't.
But then I was like, I haven't even put my wreath up.
Yeah.
Now, this wreath every year, when I put the wreath up, you go, oh, the wreath came back out.
It's just it's huge.
It's huge.
It's a big wreath. It's a big wreath, and I like it. It looks good. I just prefer. It's not a circle. It is it is oblong shaped.
Uh-huh. And you like to hang it wider than taller. Yeah.
And I like it to be taller than wider. Yeah.
I like it wide.
I know you do.
That's why I bought it. To be oblong wide.
I know.
And you think it's hard to get into the house?
It is. It covers the keypad and the doorknob.
I don't have any problems.
I have I have to move it with my hand to put in the thing. And then it swings back. It's in the way.
Not for me.
You have smaller hands.
Seems like a you problem.
Oh, right. Right. Let's start today's show.
All right.
Oh, it is new headphone day. Very exciting.
Very exciting.
These sound different than the ones that I've been using, so it's gonna take me a minute to get used to the scene.
What do you mean they sound different?
Every pair sounds different. Every single one. If you were to put these on right now, they would sound different than yours do. Uh every pair. And I've got to get gotta get them in the right uh adjustment so that they uh they're comfortable. I'm excited though. What a what a big day. New headphone day.
New headphone day. Big day, bud.
Yeah, yeah. They arrived yesterday. I got home yesterday afternoon. They were sitting there all wrapped in their pretty little paper.
I know I didn't even take them out of the box. I saved it for you.
That's awesome. Well, I opened them this morning in the studio. I've put my old pair. Uh they get to go home now. They get to be retired again. This is the pair I started with. I've replaced the uh the little pads on the on the ear cups, whatever. Um twice. I've replaced the cups on that pair. And uh they've been been around for a lot of years. Those have been around probably since 2007.
Okay.
They're they're probably 19, maybe 20 years old.
Sheesh.
Yeah.
You needed a new pair.
Well, I had a newer pair that I'd had probably I mean, maybe 10 years.
Something.
Um, I mean, these are the best headphones. When it comes to like I have to wear them, I have to take them on and off consistently. So they have to be durable, they have to sound good. Uh these are like the the radio standard piece of equipment, and uh I'm glad to have a new pair. Very exciting. And they sound uh pretty good.
Good. Good to hear. Yeah, I can hear myself talking. I can hear you talking. It sounds sounds like they're gonna work out great.
Like a good pair of
headphones should.
And my cord is so short, it doesn't roll all the way to the ground. It's only this long. The other cord goes clearly.
Yeah, the floor and beyond insane.
Yeah. So I'm pretty excited. Pretty cool.
Very nice. I gotta get uh the label maker out. I do label my stuff
uh so that I know, and I label it in several different places so that if somebody thinks they're smart and they're gonna try to take my labels off and steal my stuff, they will not see all the labels.
Those ones aren't labeled.
Yes, they are.
Those ones, your old ones?
Yep.
Where? I never seen the label.
What's it say right there?
I've never ever
seen that before. I know.
Look at you. What's it say right there?
What's it
saying? It's so
little no one would ever even notice that. Except me. And that is why I said I've got like multiple labels that size on those headphones. So if anybody ever tries to take my stuff, I go, let me see those. And I go, these are mine. Don't touch my stuff. Very particular.
What's it say right there?
What's it say? What did it say? Said Josh, did it?
It did say Josh.
That's right.
I mean, wow's uh you proved me wrong.
That's right. It's new headphone day. Very excited. Good morning.
Hey, Josh and Chantel. It's Friday. Yeah, let's go.
Okay, here you go. Some good news. I'm gonna need you to look up uh something here in just a second.
In this story comes to us from Devon, England.
Uh there is a hedgehog called Ollie, O L L Y. And Ollie the Hedgehog has had a pretty rough year. He was brought to an animal shelter in Devon, England, completely bald. He has an infection that caused him to live lose every one of his 700 7,000 spines. All of those little pokey bits on a hedgehog. The shelter staff, and in the story here, it says, shame on them. Went so far as to joke that Ollie looks like a rolled up sock
or a large potato. Have you seen him? No.
I was waiting for you to load that.
Well, I can't find him.
Ollie the hedgehog.
There he is.
He looks like a rolled up sock.
Ollie the hedgehog rescued after losing his prickles.
Yeah.
So how did he lose his prickles?
Well, he has an infection that caused him to lose them.
So uh the staff partnered with local vets. He does look like a rolled up saw.
Yes, he does. They partnered with local vets to give Ollie luxury treatment. He gets special hydrating baths, soothing creams, and pain meds to help his skin heal. They also took things to the next level by launching a charity campaign. They celebrated Ollie and asked for donations with the goal of raising 7,000 British pounds. That is exactly one pound for every missing prickle.
So that's about $9300 in US dollars. The money raised by the shelter, thanks to Ollie's recovery, will go a long way toward treating sick and injured hedgehogs that show up with or without their prickles.
It says that his he was suffering from wingworm
and a bacterial infection and it caused significant damage to his skin. His condition was so severe that he developed painful crusting around his face. And he struggled to open his mouth properly to eat. That's sad news.
Ollie. He's getting the carry knee.
He is now, yeah. He should have all those 7,000 prickles, but instead he's just a sock.
It's okay. You're getting better, buddy.
That's right.
You're in the you're in the safety space. Yeah.
And that's good news.
I am so glad for Life 360.
Uh, yeah. Because we can keep track of things or what?
Well, yeah. I mean, our our son just went on a trip with some friends to see a buddy of theirs in Moscow.
Yeah.
Not Russia.
That's Moscow. Moscow is in Idaho.
Uh oh. And they drove, they left last night, and I was very, very nervous that they were driving all night.
Mm-hmm.
And you were able to check this morning. And listen, I don't know if any of you out there have uh boys, any sons. They are not good at communication.
Oh, it's not good.
It's not good at all.
And I literally said, hey, call if you need anything. Uh not that I'm gonna like drive eight hours to help you out, but I if I have to, I'll figure it out.
Right.
Uh, but more so, like, just shoot us a text when you get there.
Let us know that you're safe.
Yeah. So this morning I checked my phone, no text.
No, of course not.
And I went, what? Come on, man. That was like the easy part was just to say, hey, we made it.
Yeah.
Like every time I go fishing, I hit you with a text. I'm safely off the water on my way home. Whatever.
Yeah.
Uh off the water, moving to a different spot. Whatever. Like I try to communicate, I'm safe.
Yeah.
Just so because people worry.
You know?
And I didn't want to make people worry. And so uh, yeah, no text this morning. So then I pull up life 360, and then I zoom in and I see that he's been at the same apartment building for now two hours and 21 minutes. So by my math, they arrived there at the place he's staying right before five in the morning.
Great.
You left at like six o'clock in the afternoon.
It was probably later than that.
They'd have to be.
Well, because he didn't even get out of our house until 6 30.
No, okay.
And so they probably ate dinner.
Well, they didn't they ate in Deer Lodge, Montana.
Oh, that's right. Yeah.
So they just left. But nonetheless, they uh they took off. They are safely there.
And we know that, not because of him. We know that because of the crazy app that we use to track. I might say this is helicopter parenting, but I just want to know that my kid is safe.
Right. No big deal.
Right.
I'm not like watching his every move or anything.
I saw a lot of people that were doing the college drop off thing uh in the earlier in the fall.
And they were like, I still have my kid on life 360, so I'm just sitting at home eating snacks, watching as they like go to class. Like, wow. Cool.
I don't ever want to do that. I don't ever want to be so in the class.
Are they at school? I guess.
Are you sure they're going to class?
The phone did. The phone went to class.
Oh, I am sure glad I didn't have live 360 when my
Oh, yeah?
When I was in college.
When you weren't in McCall.
What Yeah, what what happened when you were supposed to be in McCall and you were where? Tijuana.
No, that's way different.
Crazy. Nobody tell my mom.
Nobody tell my mom. Don't tell my mom I went to Tijuana. I told her I was in McCall. Don't tell her that. Don't tell her we know.
We went there via LA. My mom.
Don't let her know.
She called my mom as a worry
wort.
And we had a plan to go to a little bit of San Diego, a little bit of Vegas,
a little bit of
Tijuana. A
little bit.
And I said, I can't tell my mom that we're doing this. So I I did lie a little bit, told her I was going to McCall. And then she called when we were in the middle of the Vegas strip.
Yeah.
I was like, what's all that noise?
People having a good time.
She's playing some games.
For real. You're crazy.
She bought it. She's the crazy one.
Uh-huh. No one tell Chantel's mom. Life 360, I tell you.
It's good.
His phone is where it's supposed to be. I assume he's with it.
I assume so too.
Yeah. Yeah. But it is a helpful little thing.
I like it.
Communication breakdown right there. I'd be like, did they make it?
Are they okay? He never texts. He never lets us know.
I should send him one. Hey, uh, I know you've only been asleep for maybe two hours, but did you make it? I already know the answer. But uh yeah, okay. Well.
Good app. Live 360. You can always know where your kids are. It's crazy. You sent me a I don't know. What is it?
Well, I sent you this real or whatever, is Facebook or Instagram post that I saw last night. It was kind of uh traits about your uh your man's birth month. And I thought, is this true?
Does this feel true? And said true, and I went 100%.
Is it really?
Oh, yeah, 100%.
Well, good.
You were born in the month of February.
That's right.
So it's just listed you by your your birth month.
Yeah.
Not necessarily your horoscope or your That's right.
But these are traits they say are true of uh so you've read through them. You want to share some of them?
Yeah.
And then what I want you to do is I want you to pick a random one of the other eleven months, and I want you to read maybe just see if they've been so generic that it plays true no matter which month.
Okay.
Okay, go ahead.
Uh this is as the February man has never cared about blending in. Uh your mind is always 10 steps ahead. Uh your heart is far more complicated than people realize, and you refuse to become someone else just to make other people comfortable. And then it says the people around you will either appreciate the way you see the world or they'll spend their life trying to figure you out. Your green flags are you think outside the box, you never pressure people to fit in.
You value authenticity over popularity, you love meaningful conversations, you give people room to be themselves.
These are all nice things. These are all this is all you.
Yeah.
Red flags, you can disappear emotionally. You live in your own head, you're hard to read, you overanalyze everything, and you pull away instead of explaining.
Are those all true?
100%.
Okay. Okay. All right.
Now I will say that you do pull away instead of explaining yourself, but if pushed in the right moment, you will explain yourself.
Sure. Okay.
So pick a random month. Okay.
Okay. Which one did you pick?
I picked July.
Now see if these traits would apply to me or if they are completely off.
Okay. Uh July man loves quietly but completely. He remembers what matters to you. He notices when your smile changes. Uh he'll forgive more than he should simply because his heart is that big. He is deeply devoted. Family comes first, emotionally generous, protective without controlling, never forgets important moments.
Okay.
Takes things personally, holds silent grudges, bottles up emotions. I feel like
everyone's what I'm saying.
Dude is gonna be a bottle up emotion.
Right. That's what I was worried about. I was worried that they were gonna be just like is there anything in there where you go like this could not apply?
Um this says you never forget important moments, you forget important moments all the time.
When you
just do.
I don't keep track of them in a calendar like you do, that's for sure.
You don't hold silent grudges. This is Right.
Okay.
uh you don't necessarily take things personally.
Yeah.
You're not overprotective. So those don't apply.
Okay. Well, good. So maybe there is some sort of uh
truth or science or research into it or something. Because I was just reading through August and September.
Yeah.
October is excellent listener. I don't necessarily know if I would I count you as an excellent listener.
Whoa.
It's fine. You've got a lot of other great qualities.
Whoa. Josh,
sometimes I'll be talking to you and you'll just walk away. I'll be like, what? And then I'll stop and you'll say, I'm still listening.
I'm like, I know, but I don't want to talk to you while you're walking away.
That's not a good listener.
But I wasn't walking away. I was just had something on my mind I had to get done with.
Exactly. So you're not actively listening.
Actively listening versus listening.
True.
True.
You're not a good listener. You're not.
I hear everything.
I know you hear everything when I don't want you to hear it, but when I'm actually talking to you, you're like, what? What? Quit it. You know that you you know that you're a terrible listener.
A February man.
We've been doing these daily walks every night after dinner, which is something we should have been doing for years.
Yeah, but it's uh it's been nice. It's pretty easy.
It is pretty easy. And uh the health benefits are uh pretty huge uh because it causes your body to start burning that food right away. So it it does some cool stuff with like your blood sugars and uh blood pressures and stuff.
It's very cool, it's very helpful.
Someone who has high blood pressure, it's really important.
Okay. My
doctor
would be so proud. of me. Calm down. Uh but you you've got a spreadsheet that you track all your daily activities and feelings and stuff in.
Not feelings.
Don't you have something in there about was it a good day?
How would you rate today? I used to.
Oh, okay.
That was when it was the overly complicated.
I see.
I was doing too much.
Yeah.
And now I simplified it.
So now it's just a matter of I'm trying to. And I know they have apps and all kinds of stuff. No, I know you like a spreadsheet, though.
I do like a spreadsheet. So I'm just trying to make sure I get the proper amount of water intake, the proper amount of sleep.
Sure.
Did I take my vitamins? That kind of stuff.
Important to track.
It's good. It's fine. Because I forget. So it helps remind me.
Sure.
Um, so I've been trying. I've got like a 10,000 step calculator, a goal.
Yeah. Yeah. And then you use your watch to track.
Last night I was at 99,998. And my watch like stopped working, and I was so mad. I needed two more steps to get to that 10,000. And I was like, if you don't start working. And then you did a little bit of study.
I well, not study. I just was reading about the 10,000 step target. And it actually started in the 60s as a marketing campaign.
Of course it did. By a Japanese company called Yamasa, uh, which launched a commercial pedometer called the 10,000 step meter. They launched it in the 60s in Tokyo. And it was uh it says it wasn't originally built on clinical research, but it remains widely the baseline used for daily activity. Uh sedentary is defined as under 5,000 steps. Low activity is 5,000 to 7500. Somewhat active is 7500 to 99.99, and active is 10,000 or more steps.
So is it that big of a deal to hit 10,000? It's a marketing campaign that started in the 60s.
It isn't necessarily even like a real baseline. It just started up as like a oh, you got to get that 10,000 step meter and then get those 10,000 steps. It was just a thing. Yeah.
So
everything I've been reading says walking 7,000
steps a day is usually enough for most adults.
Major health benefits peak or plateau around this number.
Right. So I think it's better.
been a whole lie Well, yeah.
But I also think that putting a little less pressure on yourself to hit 10 is okay. Especially if your watch glitches out and you're gonna throw it against the wall or something.
Dude, I had two more steps though. That made me infuriated.
I know it did. I was there for the whole thing.
You weren't listening.
I'm not listening now. 10,000 Uh 10,000 step marketing campaign. Just so everyone understands that.
It's a lie.
It's not necessarily a lie. It is a good idea. But it was a marketing campaign in the 60s that just stuck.
Just like the razor.
Just like the razor. The Gillette company. Are you gonna go into the Gillette company with selling razors to men? They really wanted to open up the market to women, so they created shave your armpits.
Is that what you're getting after? Yeah. Guess what? It's winter. I'm not shaving.
All right. Well, go you. Cool.
I'm not getting those 10,000 steps either.
All right. I'm not getting 10,000 steps.
I'm not shaving. I'm showing all of these marketing companies.
What's up?
Watch.
Okay. Watch.
No one cares.
They're like, okay. We still have all of these people that think hair is gross. So we won. You want to get into soda making people think water's disgusting?
That's another one.
See. I got to do some fishing yesterday. I like it a lot. Uh it was new fishing rod day yesterday. So I got to go uh fish with my new uh my new rig and man was it fun. And I I like uh that I I feel like my confidence is growing in my fishing ability. So I've been out uh a few times and I've I've been pretty consistent with five or so fish each trip, and I feel really good about that because there are day there are days upon days upon days where I've gone out and been so frustrated and been like skunked the whole day.
Uh and so uh and I've always had like I overthink things. Is that part of that thing? Yeah, I do. I do that. And so I get in my head about like, am I am I doing it wrong? Am I overthinking things? Am I like I just sit there and like dwell on like what could I be doing better? Am I using the wrong thing? Am I am I is my presentation wrong?
Like, and I sit there and just keep getting more and more and more in my head about the frustrations I'm having. And so uh to to go out with new equipment and fish a style of fishing that I'm not super confident in and to have some success with it was was pretty cool. Uh and I caught a monster. I was very excited about the big fish. Um, and as I'm talking to my buddy John as we're as we're kind of wrapping things up, he goes, Did you take pictures of the little fish for Chantel?
Thank you, John.
I said, Yeah, of course I did.
I took a picture of every fish I could. I didn't see a picture of the little fish.
Well, they they were all pretty decent.
I uh caught five and I took a picture of all five of them. I didn't put any back without taking their picture first. So they all got to have picture day. Well, good. It's important to them. They want to feel special too.
Well, and he felt like it was important to make sure I didn't leave without taking pictures of the little fish,
too, which I thought that was pretty good. Excellent.
Yeah. So we're we're in good shape. All fish accounted for and all photographed. Uh which is pretty fun. So uh, but really still.
You caught what'd you say, five?
I did five yesterday.
That's pretty good, Joshua.
It's fun. On in a fishing method, again, that I'm not very confident in, but I bought this um this fly rod, this this new kit, um, specifically for this type of fishing, so that I could be able to do it and be able to get better at it. And it it was a successful afternoon. So uh it was good.
And I fished I mean till sundown, basically. It was it was getting pretty dark when when I was getting off the water, but uh it was way good. Way good trip. I like it.
It's fun.
I like fishing. I don't know if you heard. You do like fishing.
Yeah.
I I picked up, well, Emery came home from work and then she'll tell this story later. But she goes, Where's Dad? And I said, He's fishing. She goes, Is it just us alone tonight? And I went, No, he'll be home. It's getting dark.
You can't fish in the dark. I mean, you can, but I've but I'm not like doing an overnight or anything. Like I'm just fishing in the afternoon. Uh, but it was good.
You got home right in time for dinner too.
Yes, I did. It was warm and ready to eat.
Good job. Yeah.
Good timing. Good timing on your part cooking, so I could arrive exactly when food was ready. I'm gonna put that one on you. That's your success. Good job. Good job to you.
Good job to you. We're trying to eat dinner last night.
Yeah. And
Emory says to me, We know we never get any context with you, mom.
With you?
Yeah.
Well, that's because you start conversations mid-thought. So it isn't necessarily that we don't have context. And I and I think there's two things happening. One, you hear something, and it triggers an auditory response. And so you just have to blurt out whatever it is, or sing the song that that made you think of, or whatever, you know, adult uh ADHD thing or whatever that is, you have that. But then the other thing you'll do is you'll you'll start like you're thinking about something and you're processing in your head and you're thinking about, and then you'll say some part of it out loud, like we heard the five, ten minutes in your head, which we didn't, and then we're like, what are you even talking about? And you're like, oh well, I was thinking about this and this and this, and we go, we weren't part of that. But now you want us to be part of the middle, and we're not we don't know. We don't have the context. That's all.
For example,
yeah last night
I had made some orange chicken tacos.
They were good.
They were really good. Yeah.
Did you take all the leftovers? Just checking. Because they weren't in the fridge when I went to get stuff for lunch. I just so yes, I got it. Okay, cool.
There was really only another one.
No, that's fine. I I was just asking. I brought ravioli again for two days in a row. It's fine. I'll be fine.
Do you want these leftovers?
No.
Okay.
Oh, they're right there in your bag.
In my bag. Okay. Do you want them?
No.
Now I feel bad.
Don't feel bad.
You have been eating out. You've been going out with your buddy and you.
No, I've been eating ravioli for a few.
That's a lot. You had tacos the other day.
Yep, that's it.
And you had a burger the day before that.
No. Yeah. Uh-oh. Dude,
I see the bank account.
I didn't have a burger.
I had I had uh Hawaiian. Okay, yeah. So sorry.
Anyway.
Anyway. The tacos that I made had like a coleslaw.
Yeah.
That you put on top.
It was more like that Asian salad.
Yeah.
Because it it's, I mean, it's not like you say coleslaw and you think like orange chicken and coleslaw. Yuck. Which wouldn't be good. But orange chicken and uh and your
uh Asian salad with the crispies in there. What are those? Crispy wonton chips? Oh man, that's good. That was good.
Yeah, I like that. I ate it. It was good.
There's there's so we get a we get a meal subscription service, and a
couple of the meals have come with coleslaw. Sure.
Either as a side or you put on top of the tacos. And our son does not like coleslaw.
And he's like, why does it always have to come with coleslaw? Because it adds a nice crunch.
So last night when we're eating dinner and he wasn't home. And I felt kind of sad because I was putting the coleslaw on top of my taco and
I said,
coleslaw. Out
of nowhere.
And that's when Emory said,
There's
no context. We never get any context with you.
You're just over here talking about coleslaw because you miss your boy.
You guys should have known what the coleslaw meant.
Coleslaw!
Yeah. No, I'm just gonna say that whenever it's
cold.
Whenever something doesn't go my way.
Coleslaw!
Oh, fiddlesticks instead of fiddlesticks.
Oh, coleslaw. Yeah. It's
perfect.
Also, I do want to know that is the first time in our lives together I've heard you say fiddlesticks. That was strange. Stick with coleslaw. I like that better.
If you were a ghost, what would be your unfinished business?
All those little house projects. I got so many unfinished business. It's crazy. I don't like the way the baseboards are put together. I hate it. Drives me crazy. I've got unfinished trim work. I hate trim work. That's my unfinished business. Trim work.
I can't pass on into whatever eternal bliss until someone finishes the trim work. No.
Yeah.
What would happen is you wouldn't you would be able to pass over pretty quickly because somebody would buy our house, and then they would go, This trim work looks terrible. First to go.
So you'd be like, thank you. Or someone buys it and it's like, I just like it how it is. And then I'm like, well, great.
Doubtful.
Never leaving. Why are you selling the house?
I can't afford to live there by myself.
Where are you going?
I don't know. Probably a tiny apartment. I can't afford that either.
Stay in the house.
How about you just don't die?
Oh, okay. Cool. I will control that. I mean, I don't want to.
Okay. It
was a loud drink
you took. Sorry Forget
Get where we were recording here. Kind
of
Like things are happening. Microphones are open. Gulp. Slow down, man. What's your unfinished business?
What is my unfinished business? I don't know. I don't know what it would
be.
Who would you haunt if you were a ghost?
Just the space.
Just me.
Whoever's in the space.
You would just bug.
Now you'd be scared of the basement. Because that's where the trim is the worst and missing. And it's just not even. I have the wood laying there waiting to be painted and cut and put in. Ooh, get the project done.
No, I think you would just you would just wander around.
Wander around. Bug me all day. Yeah, I don't have to sleep so I could wander around all day and night.
Just bugging
me. Ooh.
Go away, Josh.
I refuse.
Pass on into the afterlife.
No, I
have haunting to do. What is my unfinished business?
Quilts.
Oh, projects. 100%.
That's what I said. If we're just gonna be real, it's just gonna be unfinished projects.
Unfinished projects.
Yeah. It's unfortunate, huh?
Uh no time.
Gotta get some stuff done.
Kellogg's admitted that every color of fruit loops is the same flavor.
Yeah.
And that flavor is called fruit.
No way!
F-R-O-O-T.
Yeah. I've it's always bugged me
that they're fruit.
Fruit. Not fruit. Fruit. Like root. What do you what are you looking up?
Well, I wanted to see. Yeah, it's this, it's the same generic fruit flavor. So when you eat the yellow one, it's not a it's not a lemon
flavor. No,
it's not like apple jacks. Apple jacks have different flavors. Apple jacks is the one flavor.
No. Are you thinking of tricks? No, I am not.
I'm thinking of apple jacks. It's one flavor, bro.
Settle down. Each piece tastes different.
No, it doesn't.
Look it up. Google it. Don't argue with me.
Dude.
Each one tastes different.
No, it doesn't.
Yeah. Applejacks? Yes.
It's the same flavor.
Also, it's like these are two cereals that make the top of my mouth hurt.
And Captain Crunch.
Yeah.
You have your mouth is just too delicate or something.
I have a delicate mouth.
I think I've got callous mouth.
Yeah. Yeah, that's how that feels. Tell me I have a delicate mouth.
Well, the fact that it tears up your mouth. I go, how?
Because the roof of my mouth isn't all calloused.
It's not.
Are you worried about it now? You're trying to feel it and go, is it? Is it all scar tissue? Have I ripped up my mouth so much that now it's just callous? It's like a toenail in there. It's
all hard.
Yeah, I know.
You have no mouth feeling. Apple jacks is just sweet apple and cinnamon flavor.
Yes. One is sweet apple and one is cinnamon.
It's all the same.
No, that's why the green ones are apple and the orange ones are cinnamon. I'm telling you.
I don't know.
They are not all fruit.
Fruit.
Fruit. Yeah.
Okay, so then Twix?
Twix.
Not Twix. Tricks.
Oh, those are for kids.
Are they? No, those ones have six distinct flavors.
Yeah.
Raspberry, lemon, orange, wildberry, grape, and watermelon.
Yeah, but they're just now there are only circles instead of fruit shapes.
But then I saw someone say the conspiracy theory around that is that some point you became an adult and no longer see the fruit shapes because tricks are for kids. Ah.
And I went, I hate that.
I hate being an adult.
Yeah, because I thought forever they were fruit-shaped.
Yeah, is that Mandela effect?
Yeah, either that or it's because tricks are for kids, they're no longer fruit-shaped.
I for adults.
that. I know.
What is it?
There you are, Peter. You've got to go back. You gotta go back.
Hook. We have to go back.
Yeah. Peter Payne.
I don't want to be an adult anymore.
I believe in you, Peter.
Sorry. Sorry, what?
About your callous mouth. What do you mean?
I was getting ready to cook dinner last night and I get a call from Emory.
Yeah. It
always makes me nervous when I know she's getting ready to head home and she calls because
she at work.
She was at work.
Okay.
Because then I go, uh. Everything was fine. She just called and said, hey, if I come home, can I pick you up? And then you can go get gas with me? And I went, does that mean you want me to pay for your gas? No, no. I just don't want to go to the gas station alone in the dark. And I went. Mm-hmm.
So did you pay for gas?
Of course I paid for gas. What do you think?
Yeah. And
then she does this. She does this thing where she goes, we could only do, like, we could just do a half a tank. Well, you could just do a half a tank. I go, let's just do a whole tank.
I would rather just get a whole tank than a half a tank and come back later. Right. And she gets so paranoid about her gas tank. I know.
She was like, I'm so nervous. Oh, so nervous coming all the way home because I am on empty. I look, she's got tons of gas left. Tons. I go, you're not even in the red zone. And she goes, but I'm so close to being empty. I'm like.
Yeah. She will uh not run out of gas because of her paranoia.
I know. Yeah. Which is fine. She's just always, ever since she was a little kid, worried about us running out of gas. I don't know why. It never happened. No, we had never run out of gas.
You know why?
Because I'm always making sure that our gas tank is
full.
You absolutely have run out of gas before.
You've run out of gas. I've heard the story.
When?
When you were in college, yeah?
No.
Your car just died.
It just died.
Was it out of gas?
No.
And got no gas in it.
No, I would just had a terrible car. And so it just broke.
Yeah.
I never run out of gas because I'm more responsible than that. You how I'm pointing me now. I am pointing.
Put those fingers down.
Because look how many are pointing back at you. That doesn't you can't point all ten at me. That's weird.
That is weird.
You have run out of gas before.
Yeah.
The other day you said I need to go get gas. Yeah.
Because I'm really low. And then two days later you said, I really have to go get gas. Yeah, I really needed to get gas like days ago. I need gas now.
You do?
Yeah.
We just
And then we drove. Where
do we... I've been running on the gas left over after last weekend. Oh. I hate getting gas. I'm tired of buying gas.
I think everyone in the entire world is tired of buying gas. I don't think I think every single person in this room and listening everywhere else are tired of buying gas.
Raise your hand if you hate buying gas. Me.
Two hands in this room for the first time ever. Everybody hates buying gas.
That's it's the worst. It's the worst.
You want to go with me to buy gas? Nope.
I don't like going alone.
And also, will you pay?
Yeah.
Would you rather this or that?
Would you? Excuse me. Would you rather be able to turn invisible at night or to see in complete darkness?
I want to see in darkness.
Me too.
Invisibility in the dark. Pointless. Just wear black clothes. Now I'm invisible in the dark. Uh C in complete darkness. Yeah.
Very cool. That is very cool. What would you see?
Everything with my eyes.
Everything, everything that I could see during the day. But at night. I told you last night we were on a walk and it was dark.
And I said, How come your neighborhood looks so different at night than it does in the day? Because of the darkness. The light has been removed.
Also, our neighborhood needs some more streetlights.
I agree.
It's so dark.
I agree. I need to look up city ordinance on like how far apart those things
should be because there are dark streets. Yeah.
Which, or there's like a light at one end and a light at the other end and nothing in the middle. And it's like, hello.
I feel like there should be more street lights.
Yeah, I agree.
Especially since we walk in the street.
Yeah.
Here's the thing. I'm clumsy and I'm a tripping hazard, and I can't walk on the
sidewalk because the sidewalk has too many ups and downs.
Bumps. You know what else? What?
There's that one road you love that's all rough.
Dude, what's up with that road?
There's one road in our neighborhood that is super bumpy and rough.
It is rough on my.
What happened to that road? So for me, yeah, I'm gonna see in complete darkness. What are you picking?
Yeah, same.
All right. It's would you rather this or that? Big deal. Big day.
I know it's gonna be fun.
Yeah, are you excited?
I am kind of excited.
Now, I used to do a contest years and years and years ago where I dropped watermelons from uh from a lift of sorts. And uh we were looking for some fun way to give away some stuff, a good way to involve Stone's Kia in something fun. And we said, What if we drop pumpkins?
And I went, This sounds like a good time. I like dropping stuff from up high. I was talking to our boss Jade the other day. He goes, I'm so excited. He goes, I've always wanted to drop pumpkins from a high spot.
And I went, Oh, wait, yeah, he's like forever I've wanted to do this. He's like, I've wanted to drop pumpkins. He's he's really stoked about it. Um, so it's gonna be a lot of fun.
That's hilarious. Yeah, so the great pumpkin drop is happening tomorrow. Uh, there's a big event going on from like 11 until 5 at Stone's Kia on Woodruff and Idaho Falls. So you can put on your Halloween costume, you bring down the kids, there's a whole thing for the whole family. They're gonna have food trucks, they're gonna have uh ball pit filled with prizes that the kids can search for, free face painting. There's all kinds of stuff going on. There is all kinds of stuff going on. Are you gonna dress up in a costume?
I have to figure out a costume.
I know I've got a I've got my costume, but I've got to do some prep work for it still.
And you're you're planning on wearing that costume.
Oh, yeah.
Okay. So uh yeah, so I gotta get uh a few things figured out before I can wear a costume. But at noon, we are going to drop 16 pumpkins. The pumpkins are in the building. We've been pranking each other with them for a week.
Uh it's gonna be sad to not have the all these pumpkins around. The one you see right here that was sitting in the chair this morning. Uh-huh. We drew the sad face on him because he's a little squishy. Uh-huh. But this is our test pumpkin, so he's going to be the first one we drop. Uh we put that little face on him.
He looks so scared.
He's a little bit like nauseous because of his squishy
gut.
He's and he's got the leans. He's not doing great. That's our first pumpkin. So he's gonna, he's gonna be our uh our tester, and then uh, and then we have 16 contestants that have been selected and notified. They are going to each uh be selected at random. They're gonna come up and choose a pumpkin, and then uh we are gonna take that pumpkin up into the lift, and we are gonna toss it over the edge, and all 16 of those contestants are gonna win a prize. Somebody's gonna win a $500 visa gift.
I think that's gonna be out, which is really cool.
So you can watch the pumpkin drop uh if you want to see it. That's happening at noon. And then, of course, we do have all of that other fun stuff going on. And if you want to check out Kia's lineup, they're gonna have scary good deals on their kias.
Scary for them. Nice for you.
That's right. Yeah. Scary good deals. Uh, so we'll see you there. That's gonna be a lot of fun. Um, eleven to 5 is the big event for the whole day. Again, we're going to be there pretty much like 11 to 2 or so until we get everything cleaned up. But it's going to be a party.
So come see us Stones Kia on uh Woodruff in Idle Falls. Uh that is happening tomorrow. Yahoo.
It sounds like fun. It is going to be a good time.
So That's it for today.
that's the end of the show. What do you know? It was a good one.
It was a goof one.
A goof one?
Yeah, we're a couple of goofs.
All right.
I just it's fun, Josh.
Is it?
Yes, I like doing this with you.
You do?
It's fun.
That makes one of us.
I know.
I'm just kidding. I'm just kidding. Uh, my new headphones made it through the show. They're very nice. I'm very excited about them. Thank you for encouraging me to buy new gear.
Because I was just gonna be talking about it for a long time.
So uh it's nice to have them. And uh have a great weekend. We'll see you at Stone's Key tomorrow, and we'll see you back here on the radio on Monday. Bye.
