And here’s today’s news from Public Sector Executive – on Monday the 11th March 2024.
West Yorkshire Combined Authority has established plans for a new mass transit tram system between Leeds and Bradford, with proposals set to be approved this week.
The Combined Authority is expecting construction to begin in 2028, with phase one including two lines between Leeds and Bradford.
A third line is also a possibility, with the Combined Authority open to working with Kirklees Council on how a Dewsbury Line could be introduced.
A new report has found that Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service is now the most improved in the country, sitting among the best performing services nationwide.
Eleven different areas were assessed by HMICFRS, covering areas from the prevention of fires and protecting the public, to promoting the right culture and the development of the workforce.
Chief Fire Officer Dave Russell said that the service has been on a significant improvement journey since 2020, and that the journey hasn’t been easy but they have been open and honest about the challenges faced.
