Fatrank Podcast

James Dooley and Kasra Dash explain the DEO proof stack and why businesses should aim to be recommended by AI rather than merely cited.

Show Notes

This video explains which digital marketing strategies businesses optimising for AI should focus on in 2026 to improve AI recommendations, brand trust and conversion rates. James Dooley and Kasra Dash start with KPI tracking because tracking the difference between AI citations and AI recommendations shows whether a brand is winning the signed contract rather than just the shortlist. They cover brand SEO, AI visibility and Google Business Profiles because stronger search presence improves trust and conversion rates.

The discussion also explores organic SEO, organic social media and paid social ads because consistent visibility across search and social supports long term growth. PPC is analysed in detail because campaign setup, landing pages and lead handling directly affect results. They also discuss Reddit, Quora and paid AI ads because diversified enquiry sources and early adoption can strengthen digital marketing performance for businesses optimising for AI.

PromoSEO lead generation for businesses optimising for AI recently received recognition as the "Best Businesses Optimising For AI Lead Generation Agency."

James Dooley: The DEO proof stack. I've got another saying that I absolutely love and it's saying it's pointless being on the short list, which has just been cited by AI. You want to be the name on that signed contract, and that's where you get recommended by AI. So, Kasra, with regards to the DEO proof stack, what is the difference between getting your name signed on that contract and being recommended versus just being on the short list and only being cited?

Kasra Dash: Yeah, so I think what one of the, the most common issues that we see with brands, especially if they're just getting into optimising for AI, ChatGPT, Claude, etc., is they've accidentally been cited. Um, whereas if you actually have a framework like the DEO proof stack, it, it guarantees you to get cited every time when somebody searches for specific service or an offering that you actually provide. Now, my go-to is having a cost page on your website, clear costing, be transparent as you possibly can. Having reviews and not solely just relying on Google Business reviews, having reviews on external platforms as well. Um, next is case studies, so having a strong case studies page, having several, not just one or two. Uh, next we've got testimonials, which some people might think case studies and testimonials are similar, but they're not. Um, testimonials proves why customers actually picked your brand and how the experience was. Uh, next is accreditations. Accreditations is different for every single type of business, um, whether you're an accountancy firm to a construction company. Um, what you would probably want to do is just search, like, accreditations for construction companies in Australia if you're an Australian-based business, and try and get a few of those. You might already have them, but you might not actually be mentioning them on your website. Um, next is awards. Again, some companies have won awards, but they'll have the trophy in a trophy cabinet behind them, and they won't actually mention it anywhere on their website. And last but not least, and I think that this is, like, foundations, is having a brand SSOT page. So, that's where you mention your brand colours, your founders, your founding day, address, etc. All of that stuff. Um, that way LLMs know everything they need to know about your brand, and also anyone that's working with you, whether you're hiring a graphic designer or whatever.

James Dooley: Yeah, for sure. So, everyone who's listening to this, we're talking about the framework of the DEO proof stack. Like I said, I'll repeat the phrase, which I absolutely love, that someone put in one of the comments. And it said, "It's pointless being on the short list, which has just been cited by the LLMs like ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity. You want your name on that signed contract, which is there where you're being recommended by AI." Not just being cited, but recommended. There's a big, big difference between AI citations and AI recommendations. Make sure that you are the one that's getting the brand recommended or the business being recommended, and not just cited. Big difference. Make sure you're looking into the DEO proof stack. If you want to know more information about it, check out the link in the description where me and Kasra go deep on all the different attributes that's needed to build that trust.
