Charted

What is Charted?

Like a master surveyor, Jesus gives us clear directions to find a fulfilling, purpose-filled relationship with Himself - a map to the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Charted is a daily devotional written by the junior class at Fountainview Academy (Class of 2019). Based on the book Steps to Christ, this book explores the path to the Originator and Provider of Genuine Joy. We don't have to be confused about the way. The certainty is in the journey: divinely Charted.

By the faith of the Son of God they will follow in His steps, reflect His
character, and purify themselves even as He is pure. – Steps to Christ,

Autumn’s aura rules the day. Naked trees stand sentinel,
protruding from the blanket of yellow and orange that covers the
ground. The icy breath of the atmosphere crystalizes on the bark of
trees. Death roams through the orchard, and the green grass shrivels
up into straw. Suddenly, something unusual catches the corner of your
eye—something so perfect, yet so out of place. Braving the elements,
it stands unmoving in the midst of the muddy carcasses of leaves—
death’s desolation cannot taint its purity. Reaching down, you pick up
the white rose. Clenched between your fingers, the devilish thorns
projecting out of the stem protect the crown of delicate white petals.
Such a pure flower in such a polluted place, you inwardly muse.
Our world is not far away from that autumn day. Earth’s
beauty is quickly fading. Death and destruction rule while shrivelled
souls roam the world like zombies. But sometimes, through the blur
of emotionless faces, someone catches the corner of your eye.
Their face radiates happiness and pure joy. The depression and
discouragement imprinted on the other faces is not found on theirs.
They light up the world, giving humanity a glimpse of something
beautiful—something different. The purity and nobleness of their
character reflects that of a Higher Power. Their beauty shines from
within, untainted by the world’s immoral desolation. They are like the
white rose.
God’s people are called to stand out in this sin-darkened
world—to portray the purity of Christ’s character to mankind. Christ
calls us to transform this planet from a graveyard ridden with anxiety,
pain, and depression into a garden overflowing with beauty, purity, and
joy—a garden of white roses.
