Like a master surveyor, Jesus gives us clear directions to find a fulfilling, purpose-filled relationship with Himself - a map to the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Charted is a daily devotional written by the junior class at Fountainview Academy (Class of 2019). Based on the book Steps to Christ, this book explores the path to the Originator and Provider of Genuine Joy. We don't have to be confused about the way. The certainty is in the journey: divinely Charted.
God invites us to prove for ourselves the reality of His word, the truth
of His promises. He bids us to “taste and see that the Lord is good.”

So many colours exploded in front of my eyes as I glanced
down into the box of candy. “Beanboozled” was spelled out in large red
letters. “Don’t eat any!” my friend Sam called behind me. Looking back
into the box, I saw that it was completely full of Jelly Beans.
“Can I at least have one?” I pleaded.
“It’s not just candy,” she stated. “It’s a game! We take turns
spinning the cardboard wheel, and whatever colour Jelly Bean it lands
on, we both have to try.”
“Sounds simple enough,” I added.
“But… these flavours are a little bit different,” she smirked.
“Some of them are nice, and some of them are not so nice.” Seeing
the confusion on my face, she continued: “The red Jelly Beans could
be cherry flavour, but it could also be vomit flavour.” An expression of
horror overshadowed my face as she revealed more flavours: “…grass
clippings, dead fish, toothpaste, and spoiled milk.”
Curiosity overwhelmed my disgust, and I assured myself that
no product could possibly be that horrendous. I was wrong. I watched
with anxiety as the spinner landed on the yellow Jelly Bean. This could
be either lemon or rotten eggs. Reluctantly, Sam and I each picked up
a yellow Jelly Bean, and popped them into our mouths. Tears began
to form as the taste of rotten egg sent us both sprinting for our water
bottles.
As I thought about this experience, I realized that only
moments before, I had actually desired to try those disgusting little
devils, but after tasting how horrible they were, I wasn’t even the least
bit tempted. However, there is a far more pleasant experience on
offer: Jesus sweetly promises that if we “taste and see that the Lord
is good,” the truth of His love for us will be evident and we will be left
feeling not disgusted but nourished.
