How writing a book changed my life and why writing one can change yours too.
Writing a book will teach us a lot of things. Patience, hard work and desire to see the finished products. Writing a book has changed my life in so many ways, but I think my favorite has to be how it has given me instant credibility, given me a platform to talk to people about my business.

Genecia Alluora: Hello gorgeous. How are you today? I'm Genecia Alluora and today's topic is about how writing my books has changed my life. Now, not just writing my book or any book, okay, it's writing my book. My book with my own name. The book that has been inside me for ages, but I was too scared to unleash it into the world. Not the best book in the world, but mine. And it has changed my life. It's given me instant credibility, given me a platform to talk to people about. My business and coaching services. And it's been a fun and rewarding process to see my name in print. To be honest, it's been awesome for my ego too. But that's not why I did it.

Genecia Alluora: I wrote personal Branding secrets and then later which means this year, at the time of recording, I wrote make it happen - ways to get from stuck to unstoppable without changing who you are and even if no one believes in you or stand by you. Because it was dying to come out of me and you know, you've got a story and you're itching to share too. I asked myself if I would regret not writing a book on my deathbed and the answer was yes. But I was damn scared. What if people hate it and people don't buy my book? People have asked me how I wrote make it happen - ways to get from stuck to unstoppable without changing who you are. Well, the short answer is I recorded tons of podcast.

Genecia Alluora: Yeah, I recorded a lot of podcast episodes and then I transcript them and got my editor to edit them. But of course that's more to it than that. If writing a book is on your bucket list, then listen on because you can have your book done within a month if you are motivated enough. Yeah, I'm serious. Fast action is always rewarded by the universe. Ready? So how do you write and publish your own book? In a nutshell. Number one, set an intention to be a published author. The actual desire to be a published author is hugely important because without that burning desire, it might not ever happen. The fear and procrastination will derail you so if you keep your eye on the ultimate goal, you'll be able to get through it. See yourself with your book on bookshelves.

Genecia Alluora: See yourself signing books and having sales coming in again and again. Imagine what your cover will look like visualize being interviewed. Ellen talking about your book. Oprah talking about your book. Put a mockup cover on your dream board. I set an intention to write a book, but I didn't have an idea. So I asked the universe for a million dollar book title. And then within a week, I came up with Make It Happen - Ways to go from stuck to unstoppable without changing who you are and evenn nobody believes in you and stand by you. And time will tell it is going to make me a million dollars. Okay? But the universe at least gave me a great idea.

Genecia Alluora: Number two, find creative ways to get it done fast. Now there's no need to spend years writing a book. Nine months, eight months to write your book. Hello. Remember at school when you pull an all night, put in your midnight oil and get your 5000 word essay done? Well, channel that part of yourself. Well, for me, I love podcasting, and I recorded all my podcast and launched my podcast in 48 hours and made it really profitable. So I knew I could do Make It Happen Ways To Get from Stuck to Unstoppable without Changing Who You Are And even if no one believes in you or stand by you in the same time frame. So even though my podcast wasn't sometimes amazing because there was no script, it was just like sharing my knowledge and experience, but definitely it would be good enough because I have built up listeners and followers in more than 28 countries as of this recording.

Genecia Alluora: Yeah, I mean, it would be fabulous. If I was organized and diligent, but I'm not. And, well, I'm not now. So if you're like me, smart but a little bit lazy and pro to procrastination, don't wait for the stars to align and hustle like you've got a school deadline. So there are many ways to write your book fast for example, number one, transcribe being interviewed. Number two, asking others to contribute, which is also what I'm doing for my supplementary book for Make It Happen. And you could also record podcast and then get them transcribed and it's a book already. Well, just chain yourself to your computer or chain yourself to your phone, because it's completely worth it to outsource some of the tricky aspects like editing and formatting, rather than you trying to do everything yourself.

Genecia Alluora: Delegate 80% of your to do list, even if it's a book. Okay? Because that saves time I also outsource a lot more on my second book which is make it happen. And the process was way much easier. I just need to talk and check but if you're on a budget, just do it all by yourself. You can always improve the book later. And that's the beauty of this self publishing model. Number three decide how you are going to publish it now. There are so many different options on. How to get published. And although I'm not going to trash traditional publishing, I love Jerry Roberts. Okay? To be honest, it can seem like a whole lot of work for a small chance, especially if you're just starting out. Besides, if you are OCD, a control freak, self publishing is a great option because you can create it exactly how you want it the cover the colors, even your launching, your website, everything about the book. Everything.

Genecia Alluora: Okay? How many chapters you want, how many pages you want. You can self publish now to build a platform and use it to attract a major publishing house later. I love the sense of self publishing because I'm all about instant book author. I'm all about being the instant book author. Once your cover is out, it's instant self gratification. It's out now, it's out immediately. Not nine months later, not few years later. You could literally have a book up in 48 hours. I'm not kidding. Really? Even up to this week, maybe end of this week, your book will be out. Really? I'm not joking. You can. But the downside is that there's a lot of crap being published out there. So that is why it is important to do it well and also the advantage is that your work will stand out.

Genecia Alluora: So you need to decide which platforms you're going to use. Like, for example, createspace Smashwords kindle lulu.com et cetera. Or even instant book author. You can also start with one and add additional formats as you go, including print format. There is very little cost involved and. Virtually zero barriers to entry. You have no excuse. Well, I really love self publishing and. Must say that you must take action. Number four plan how you are going to make money out of the book. Yeah, monetizing is key.

Genecia Alluora: Hello, I prelaunch and I take prelaunch orders and I prelaunch my book way before it was even published. I use book funnels to lead gen and make sure that I get things done. So if you're not even doing that, how many authors I see that have printed thousands of copies of books and they put at home and they call themselves an author. Think about it. You want to become a best selling author, not just an author, isn't it? So unfortunately, writing a book isn't necessarily the ticket to winning the lottery. I've had clients who are officially a best selling author, but it's not enough for full time income. It sucks, but it's true. The most successful self publishing stories are either very profit link writers or entrepreneurs who have the big back end stable of other products and services, which means you need to have a marketing plan using everything in your bag, your social media, your blogging, your podcasting, and you're only limited by your imagination. The great thing is that your book can build a platform of readers who know and like you, just like podcasting. Some of those readers will love to work with you further. So survey your readers and listen to for exactly what they are asking for. I've seen traditionally published books and kinder versions of huge bestsellers with a lot of typo errors. And sometimes I see them in my own book as well. But you know what? It will happen, so get over it. The beauty of self publishing is that you can release new additions all the time. So also when you put your great work out into the world, you give complete strangers the opportunity to judge your work. That can be extremely tough. But don't let that fear derail you because you can do it afraid and you will break through and more people will like you and trust you and know you and you get customers, you get leads and inquiries, you are seen as an instant leader, instant book author. So writing a book can literally change your life. Would you regret letting the opportunity pass you by and live a life of regret just because you're scared or frustrated by the process?
