A new National Institute for Health and Care Excellence recommendation means hundreds of NHS patients will benefit from immediate access to a new treatment option for womb cancer. The immunotherapy, known as dostarlimab (d-star-li-mab), has been recommended in combination with chemotherapy after clinical trial data showed it can improve life expectancy and stop cancer from progressing.
The treatment is being made available through the cancer drugs fund while more long-term data is collected to assess the viability of future routine use.
NHS professionals joined local council partners at a topping out event at the new Chiswick Health Centre. Representatives from NHS Property Services, Hounslow Council, and North West London Integrated Care Board all attended the event to see the construction of the £23m health centre.
The NHS says the newbuild will reduce carbon emissions by 77% and enable a greater biodiversity in the area. The health centre will host three GP practices and the local primary care network, with the first patients expected through the doors early next year.
