We all know the hare and the tortoise story, and

we all know who the antihero of that story is.

Right? Well, in this episode, I want us

to take another look at the story because there is an antihero

here, but it is not the hare. Let's talk

about it a bit more before I introduce you to today's mantra.

So hello, welcome and wish you a very Happy

new year, dear listener. You are listening to the

1st ever episode of the year 2024,

and today we're revisiting a very

old story that we heard as children.

We all know the story and we all know that the tortoise

is respected for taking it slow and steady.

We all agree that it is wrong to shame him for his

speed which is a part of who he is and not a part

that he can change or control. We all

agree that going to a goal consistently

is the best way to reach the goal. Small

steps are still progress. And small

consistent steps are respectable, and they'll get you to

your goal or your finish line, sometimes faster than the usual

winners. We agree to all of this.

We all know that it's okay to be a tortoise,

but in our hearts, in our daily lives

with our big dreams and goals, our

desire to live life to the fullest, to be unique and

to be special. We all really want to

be as gifted As the hare, don't

we? We all want to be as gifted as the

hare. And what was the hare's approach in the story?

To run with all his energy and his focus

and his potential for as long as he could

and then enjoy some rest. He

used his full potential, used up all his energy,

Worked really hard for that long stretch of

road and then

took a break to curl up under a tree and recharge

himself. And of course, he knew that once

he woke up, He would get right back on his feet

and run and work hard and use his full potential again.

Now we all want to be as fast as the hare.

We all want to work 3 months of our lives and then

Vacation for the next 3 months, that sounds like a

dream. That sounds wonderful. We

all want to go places, we want to kill boredom,

we want to constantly try new things and move past our

own boundaries, But we also want to

rest. We also want to go on amazing

vacations and actually enjoy them beyond the

pictures we click. We want time

away from our phones and our screens and our

work. We crave that. We realize that.

We want time to go out and socialize a little more,

have actual friends rather than feel like a loner,

Or we want time away from all the people just to curl up and

read a book or sleep to our heart's content.

We don't like to stick to 1 pace or 1 routine or

1 path for too long, do we? No,

we like to change things up. We all want to

sprint like the hare and then we want to

rest like the hare too. Sure we realize

that in the story, he was unkind to the

tortoise and too competitive and arrogant.

But right until that point in the story, we all

want to be the hare. So

if he isn't the villain and the

tortoise isn't either, who is the

antihero of the story? The villain

here, the bad guy here is

the race. See, when the hare

and the tortoise who were perfectly happy

and confident in their ways of life, One

slow and steady, the other fast and fun. When they

decided to compare each other's abilities,

Not for the sake of fun or curiosity but to

satisfy their ego. When they did that,

in the process, The hare became arrogant

and insecure and the tortoise

perhaps lost respect for the hares amazing process,

Right? Think about it. We often compare each other's gifts

and journeys in this way. We think about the people of our

age and compare and we think about the people of our

age, people of our neighborhood, people who graduated with

us, Whom we knew at some point in our lives.

We constantly compare their journey and ours to see

who's doing best. And we decide to automatically

not like the person who gets successful

Easily or quickly, who enjoys vacation after vacation

while we are still waking up every day and going to work, giving

our best and keeping the dream alive.

We automatically think that that person

who looks like he's already at the finish line Must have

taken some sort of shortcut and is going to pay for it

later. And that's not a healthy

good feeling View to have.

Right? We go through life seeing

everything as a race. We want to be the 1st

at something. We want to be special. We want to be liked.

More special than anyone else, More liked than anyone

else. Well, here's the truth

and hopefully, I've put it in a way that's simple for you to remember

To chant even and store in the back of your mind at all

times. Nothing is a race

except a race. I love

this. Nothing is a race except a race.

Except for the time when you are Playing a

sport where you are racing against time to score a

score or cross a finish line or jump higher or

swim faster, Except for those instances

of sport and leisure, you are never

in a race. You are never in a

race. You are not in a race when you're going

to work. You are not in a race in your career. You are not in

a race in your personal and social life or relationships.

You are not in a race when it comes to money and financial

status. You are not in a race any

other time with anybody except

when you are On the ground in your sports gear

and you are wearing your sportsmanship spirit

And you're ready to win the race, ready to win that

game. Outside of that, you

are in a shared world. You are in

a world that exposes you to people who choose

different ways to live their lives. You look at some of

them and you wonder, how is that person doing this so

well? Maybe I wanna try to do things a little more like that

person. I want to see how that goes. I'm

gonna try to do what they're doing. I'm gonna read what they're reading.

I'm gonna Invest where they're investing. I'm gonna live how

they're living for a while because it sounds like a more

interesting way for me to try right now.

I know that they're not better than me. I know there's

much more to their story than what I can see, And I know

that they're not luckier than me or more worthy than me

because I know the universe doesn't have more for them and less

for me. And I'm perfectly capable of finding

happiness and joy in the way my life is going right

now. But I'd love to try this.

I'd love to set this new goal and chase it. I'd

love to Try this approach, I'd love to learn and

try and fail and try and succeed.

It is an exploration, it's

not a race. Make your choices

Based on what will fulfill you most

rather than what will get you ahead first.

And here's the best part, here's the best part!

A hare or a tortoise, fast or slow,

is not who we are. You're not born as someone who

will go fast or go slow. These are

approaches We humans can take. These

are preferences and choices we get to

make. And if we can learn to enjoy ourselves

and see others as an inspiration or a

hint from the universe rather than threat,

Then we can find happiness on the finish line

and throughout the way whether we sprint and rest

like the hare Or move slowly and steadily like the

tortoise. Nothing is a race my

dear listener, except a race.

Speaking of happiness and fulfillment and success, today I

bring you a powerful mantra That has helped a lot of

our listeners remove their inner blocks that get

in the way of their own path. And this, perhaps, was

the 1st mantra that I heard that wasn't dedicated to a

Hindu deity or perhaps any deity in particular.

But it was a true universal

Mantra that focused on

elevating and improving and exploring the

self. That Mantra is

the Ajai Alai mantra. Every word in this

mantra is an affirmation of strength and confidence

and self worth. Every word in this mantra

reinforces the qualities that we want to adopt and

the unstoppable force that we want to become.

Each word in this mantra reinstates

the dream, the big dream, that we have for

ourselves. So if you find

yourself feeling low on confidence or self worth or if you

feel that you're falling behind or struggling in life, I want

you to try this mantra. I want you to sit down and

listen with your heart for a few minutes every morning

and visualize your most powerful self

having the most powerful day. And

leading a powerful, happy, fulfilled

life without being threatened by the

success of others. If you don't

My wish for you in this brand new year is

miraculous revolution around the

sun. I also would like to thank you and all my listeners
