WolfCast

What is WolfCast?

Literary performance, essays, and spoken-word confessions from an author known only as Woolfinius Jackson Whürl. A voice from the Dust Meridian, reading the pages he never meant to send.

Today I didn’t open up
The way I usually do
Kept my heart behind my ribs
Kept my mind away from you

And the morning never landed
Like it forgot to touch the ground
I moved through all the motions
But the day had not begun somehow

This is the life
The weight and the weather
The way of duty
Holding us together

But I hope you are okay
Past the body, past the bone
I know you’re standing somewhere
But I hate you standing alone

And when the worry comes
Like thunder in the room
Remember what I told you
The light still lives in you

You are kenough
Don’t forget it
Ever, ever
You are enough
Don’t you let it
Slip away

And somehow
The sky has not yet fallen today

There are rules we have to answer
There are things that must be carried
Names we do not speak too loudly
Roads we walk but do not marry

I am buried in the working
In the hours, in the grind
But you move through all my silence
In the quiet spaces between my mind

This is the life
The list and the ledger
The hands kept busy
The heart still tender

And I hope you are okay
Past the body, past the bone
I know you’re breathing somewhere
But I hate you breathing alone

And when the worry comes
Like weather in the room
Remember what I told you
The light still lives in you

You are kenough
Don’t forget it
Ever, ever
You are kenough
Don’t you let it
Slip away

And somehow
The sky has not yet fallen today

Maybe love is not the fire
Maybe love is not the flame
Maybe love is doing dishes
With an ache you cannot name

Maybe love is not arriving
Maybe love is staying near
In the pauses, in the static
In the unsent “are you here?”

So I hope you are okay
Where the world can’t reach your face
I am busy, I am burdened
But you have not left your place

You are with me in the quiet
You are with me in the gray
You are with me in the almost
Of another ordinary day

You are enough
Don’t forget it
Ever, ever
You are enough
Don’t you let it
Slip away

And somehow
The sky has not yet fallen
Somehow
We are bruised but we are breathing
Somehow
The sky has not yet fallen today
